....Now I must take some of the statement above back as the wife just delivered some raisin bread toast [with butter], to me here in computer room/office. And it is already gone.

In order to maintain lawn order I push a trusty reel mower over ours. We don't have a big lawn, but we haven't used any gasoline to mow it in the 25 years we've been here.

Speaking of which, the lawn awaits today...soon, before it gets too unbearable out there!

lol [:)]

Well it certainly does look that way. Or is it just an ad for C & O. [;)]

Carl,

Yeah, I COULD be making up for when power was off; but that's not the
case.

Mookie, an ad for the old C&O would be welcome. It is my favorite fallen flag.

Ask Bergie or somebody, why the delete will not work at night, when we
mess up and try to delete something. When I kept trying to post last
night, I kept getting a message about Flood Control was inacted, so
guess that's why it came up five times instead of one time.

SOOOORRRRYYY. It was not totally my fault. Have written an email to
Bergie, but haven't heard back yet this morning.

Morning all. [:)]

It never gets too hot for Jim to drink Hot Coffee. I must have my "wake up call" and that is what the coffee is for. When you only get 4 to 5 hours of sleep most every night c o f f e e is a must to start the day. That is hot coffee not iced coffee or luke warm coffee. As I said in the M R forum coffee shop, in my opinion "iced coffee" is unAmerican. I just can't stand the though of warm coffee of iced coffee. I know some drink it but NOT ME. [:0] [B)] [}:)] [;)] [8D]

Here are a few items of interest from the This Day in History website.

June 8

1937 The world's largest flower, the 12' calla lily, blooms in New York's Botanical Garden.

1942 Bing Crosby records "Adeste Fideles" and "Silent Night" in Los Angeles for Decca Records.

Well I am not old enough to remember the actual event of either of these things. But I do agree that the generation who saw and fought in WWII is the best generation of people this country has EVER produced. Even those who didn't go over seas to fight, still fought a war at home with rationing and putting up with many "things" many of us will never have to face. I admire them for the sacrifice they made.I don't believe that we now in our "soft" way of life could handle the sacrifices they made. I could be wrong but now we live in a "me first" world and that attitude didn't exist back then. OK, I will put the soap box up and move on.

Everyone have a great day.

Jim, I'M TRYING!! It's 85 degrees out and the humidity makes it feel like 90 or 95. At least I haven't got what they have out west, but it's a sudden shock because a few days ago the low was 55 or something like that. Oh well, I'll try to survive.

....Jim...I for one agree with you on the WWII generation....I was quite young but did help in paper and scrap metal drives, etc....It took everyone to pitch in to get the total job done. We had large piles of scrap metal right in the center of town from what we and others gathered from all directions and then it was hauled to a collection center and on from there...
C W.....On that room temp coffee....Wow, don't think I could handle that but everyone has their likes so go for it.
Temp is in the upper 80's now but the humidity is going off the charts.
To help this situation I just added some 134a to the A/C in my little S-10 as this is a day it will be used....[A/C, that is].

A wonder 81 at the airport, about 83 here at work, but I'm sitting in a comfortable 71 degree environment (gotta keep them computers cool, you know), wishing I was back out in the sun....

Iced tea, potato salad, a juicy cheeseburger "with", and some watermelon to wrap it all up... I'll be out on the deck when that's ready.

Cheer up - we will be a little cooler tomorrow - sounds like the high 80's. Splotches of rain here, too - but now all gone. All going east.

FYI - Mookie will be in absentia on Friday. State day of mourning - but for me - a great day to go watch some more trains. 'Course work will pile up - but....I do have my priorities!

Those of us in the cold country know there are four seasons: Almost winter, winter, winter's almost over, construction.

Okay, my turn, I'm cooking. [C=:-)] Who likes creamed chipped beef? [dinner] Don't say "It's not time for breakfast," I eat creamed chipped beef all the time. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, any time is perfect! All I need to know is, who wants it on toast, who wants pancakes, and who wants biscuts?
Does anybody mind if I brought in a computer? I'd like to do a bit of virtual modeling. Hopefully, in the real world, I'll get my PC soon. That way, I can run TRAINZ all night. Only problem is school. Luckily for me, SCHOOL ENDS JUNE 11TH! [(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D]

Well looks like S O S will have to be added to the Diner's menu since it seems to be such a "hit" with the Diner's customers. But you know we can't call it S O S, we need a nicer name than that. [;)] If you know what I mean. [:p]

Well Duchess got me up at 9 am. So another short nap, pretty much my usual. [:(] Now you see why coffee is such a necessity for me. As I have said before, black, hot, just the way God intended coffee to be consumed. [;)]

TrainFreak409, I LLLLOOOOOVVVVEEEEEE chip beef on rice. Especially with just a little tiny bit of brown sugar on top.

Yesterday was another exciting train day for me. The WSOR ran a inspection train up on the line the past three days, they stayed overnight in another town further down the line Monday night, and stayed here in town Last night. The left about an hour ago, I heard them leave on the scanner. I got some good pictures for the WSOR calender contest. You get 500 bucks for getting the cover photo, 250 for getting the inside cover photo, and $100 for each month. I hope I get one of them. I'd love to spend the money on another engine.

Wow, I don't think I have ever found so many people that like creamed chipped beef. Or, yes, SOS, as it was called in the Navy. I learned that from my grandfather about 11 or so years ago, when I was just a lad. Only afew of my friends from school like, or even know what it is. Well, enjoy!
