Potato salad - one of my favorites. Plenty warm here today - and the showers and thunderstorms don't seem to be showing much promise (famous last words).

Otherwise, things have been pretty slow. (Never say the Q word!) Time to head for home and turn out some raffle tickets they need tomorrow...[:(!]

Afternoon All

I see it is still a little slow here in the diner. [:(]

Well I am done with cooking for the day. The chicken salad is done and so too is the potato salad. Would anybody care to guess what I will be eating for the next 3 or 4 days?

I am going to have to add kleenex to my shopping list. I used them all this morning. [:0] [B)] [8] It was an emotional show both for those watching and for those broadcasting. Katie will be missed, and it will be extremely difficult to EVER replace her.

Now to turn my attention to laundry, dishwashing, and other housework. [:(] That is the worst thing about cooking . . . having to clean up after it is all said and done. I wish I could "say it" and it would be done. [:p] [:o)] But then again, don't we all ! ! !

CW,
I'll take a plate of spaghetti and some ice cream. Sounds good.

I just got done mowing the yard here at work. As always, got to watch a few idiots run the crossing like I do everyday. Won't be long and we'll end up having another collision again.

I'm trying to beat the storms if we get any this afternoon. It sure is hot, but since we have A/C in the shop now, I'll spend the rest of the day in there.

Everybody have a great afternoon.

Jim, looks like we could possibly get some rain. Maybe. Will probably go right
by us, to somewhere else in the county or neighboring county(ies).

Lunch today: Italian spaghetti, Texas garlic wheat toast, garden salad.

Desserts: chocolate cake, white cake, ice cream.

Morning All,

Off to shoot a wedding (who gets married on a Wednesday?). Oh well, it's at the Denver Botanic Gardens so that should be a lot of fun for backgrounds and such.

Hope you all have a great day. I should be in in the afternoon, so I'll check in with you then.

Mornin' All

I am watching the Today's Show and Katie's last day. So far it has been one of those "pass me the kleenex" shows going back and watching both the good and funny stuff, then also the bad stuff that has happened such as 911. I have been an NBC fan even before NBC was one of the leaders in news and entertainment. I will miss her so her. But I wish her the best, she is one of the top newspeople in my book, and has a great personality.

I am pealing the potatoes for my potatoe salad and want to get it done before it gets too warm outside and inside. It is also fixin to rain. I will talk to everyone later.

Good Wednesday morning to everyone! It's pleasant here, this morning, temp is
around 70 degrees. Sun is beginning to come out.

Breakfast this morning: biscuits, sausage, sausage gravy and fresh grapes,
to go in your cereal, if you'd like a bowl of cereal this morning. (always have
cereal around for breakfast).

Guess that's about it for now. Awoke at 5 this morning, and still a little groggy.

Hope Mookie gets a chance to at least pop in for a minute and say "Hi" to us all.

Has anyone heard from Modelcar lately? Don't remember seeing him around
lately.

Good morning, it's 01:36, what's the "O" stand for? "O(h) my God it's early!" I'm sitting here finishing off my chocolate milk and I think I'm going to hit the sack in a few minutes. Jim just finished telling me about the horrors of cooking and cleaning as I went through a folder of useless UP junk that he gave me (ok, not really, this is really cool, some of this stuff I wouldn't have even given away!).

I found a UP 8444 button from the 1970's or 80's yesterday afternoon, that was pretty cool. I imagine it was from "8444's" (a.k.a. UP 844) visit to the area in 1984 on its way to the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans. That was the only time it rolled through our area with that number. It came again in 1996 and carried the number 844 again after it's number-displacing GP30 was retired. Funny, that particular GP30, UP 844 still exists at a museum. One of the less famous 844's.

Anyways, that's enough of my 844 chat. I'm just still pretty excited that I had the wonderful opportunity to watch it go by, and enjoy the hospitality of Jim and Dutchess down south in North Little Rock. The last week sure has been fun! I was sitting here 7 days ago getting ready to leave, lol.

I hope all of the forum-dwellers are doing fine, I've been fairly absant lately. I've had school, finals until May 19th, then trains to chase and photos to upload and my forum visits have been very sporadic, but I want you all to know that I still view this as a valuable place to seek information and to rant about useless junk. Have a good day everybody, I'll see ya later tomorrow.

Thanks, Sarah! Don't worry, there's cooler air headed your way- we didn't even make it to 80 today, after hitting the high 90's yesterday.

Checked the fridge- yep, something got into the chocolate cake. No problem, here's another one.

I thought for sure we would get a lot of rain today- at one point the radar showed us completely surrounded with red echoes. So what did we get? A SPRINKLE. Oh well, at least I was able to mow the lawn tonight...

Well now, John started the previous page so I am buying John's supper tonight.

Since I started this page, hmmmmm, who is buying my supper. I guess CW since she is second in charge of the diner. [:p]

I am using my boiled chicken water to boil some macaroni shells. Then will drain that and add the cheese, some pulled chicken, and some nice (that green stuff that CW doesn't like) and have some tossed salad to go with it.

Works for me. [;)] [:D]

Afternoon All

It is actually 84 here but with the humidity feels like 88. It has been partly cloudy and raining part of the day, now just partly cloudy.

I am boiling chicken to make chicken salad. [:0] Yes, I do cook. [:p] [;)] I just hate to cook and dirty up the kitchen. When it is hot like today, I don't like to cook either. But this is my day off, so I cook today and tomorrow so I don't have to cook on some of the other days. Plus the left-overs become lunch to take to work.

Tomorrow morning I am getting up early and making potato salad. I will boil the potatoes while it is cooler in the morning. After they cool then I will chop up some scallons, some celery, and make the potato salad. Oh, I need to boil some eggs for both of the salads.

Well back to work. I am also trying to do some house cleaning. Since the house looks better now (after all the house cleaning for Zach's visit) I am trying to keep it up.

Supper tonight: nice, cool garden salads with your choice of the sandwiches on the

This place just isn't normal without the appropriate havoc!

Anyone hear a chocolate cake induced belch from the Diner's cooler in back?

Brian (Ky); No Problem, one Dr. Pepper coming up.[8D]

Chris; like the shot of the Eagle, that's a really good picture.

Jim; thanks for the links and the other.

If the "tuna salad" doesn't bring the cat in,I'll put out some 'kibbles & bits' [:-,]

Well,a bit of good news around here today, yesterday they uprighted the barge
that's been stuck against the K & I RR bridge since Jan. 26th,today,they ACTUALLY
got it completely away from the bridge and semi-secured(?) on the In. side.
Now they're to take up to a week to evaluate the condition of,and hopefully
send it WAY on downstream.[%-)][sigh]

Hello everyone.....

Was a bad day for Chocolatefest yesterday, as at least five people got zapped by lightning from a severe thunderstorm yesterday afternoon. Was quite the storm that moved through, heavy downpours and high winds, took out a few trees.

Got to see a rare sight yesterday, as Loram was grinding rail near Burlington last night. It was quite the light show they put on at 1am moving through town, wish I would have had a camera with me.

Hot and humid here too, has cracked 90 the last two days, helped my dad in the barn on Sunday, was pretty nice inside as he has four four-foot diameter fans on high pulling air through the barn. Been sticky in the house too, parents do not have air conditioning, and the pool is not quite ready yet (not enough water, started filling on Sunday.

Keep cool, all, and see everyone later.

Well a Tip Top of the morning to you all!

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Brian, a belated [bday]. Hope you had a great one.

Switch8frg, yes I did take that shot. It was from my recent Yellowstone adventure. I was actually there with a bunch of other Canon photographers from another forum. You should have seen all the lenses lined up by a dead elk dragged into the middle of the Madison River (presumably by a grizzly) every morning. Getting shots like the eagle make it worth while, though.

Well, MC already mentioned snow on Mt. Evans. I did manage to get snowed upon over the weekend up at Steamboat Lake (around 20 miles or so NNW of Steamboat Springs). Considering my utter disdain for hot temperatures, it was wonderful. As an added bonus we stopped at the Steamboat Rec. Center and took a dip in the Hot Springs fed pools. Hmmmm...almost as good as Thermopolis (well...the bath house at Thermopolis was free...minor niggle, though).

Didn't get a chance to stop at the Georgetown Loop, but did take a quick glance over that way while driving past on I-70. #9 was out and about on both the eastbound and westbound trips, though I don't know how active she was. She almost looks too clean for me though. Oh well...she'll get some grime on her soon enough.

Well, I must be off. Have to get some work done. Not only is it a short week, I also have to shoot a wedding tomorrow.

TTFN!

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!! [#welcome] back to all our patrons, who had a
loooong weekend!! You were definitely missed around here.

Breakfast this morning is a cool one: cold cereal, cantaloupe slices and watermelon
chunks. Maybe that will help cool us off. For those of you who have to have a hot
breakfast, the usual breakfast items are on the warmer bar.

I'll be back after I get through with Produce, around mid morning.
