Well, we survived the storm- nothing more than a funnel cloud. Downtown CR had some golf-ball-size hail, and we added another inch of rain to the rain gauge at our house.

I'll take a plate-full of beef pasta, please.

Thanks for the pictures, Cannonball- very cool shots.

Thanks for the e-mail, CW- how true they are!

Our supper of beef pasta and tossed salad is ready. Managed to get it going a
little bit early, so if anyone is hungry, you can have a sit down, and I'll serve you
a plate now.

And don't get too full, so you'll have room for cake and ice cream!!

A plucky cat peeking at plucked poultry? Two Illinois Bordering Brians? Diner excursions to other eating establishments? Simultaneous applications of aloe vera and tourniquets?

Man is it me, or has the Diner been a bit.....errrrrr...different lately? Maybe we should put a sign on the door that reads something to the effect of:

You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!

(As an afterthought...it's a bit odd that I bring this up on a date that some aren't very keen on...weird....)

CW - I was looking at the naked chicken (he laughed his feathers off) and Tree's Monday.

But will always take cake!

Time for me to go somewhere else - like my favorite chair.

Nite -

Brian (KY), Golden Corrall sounds really good!! Just got back in from Produce and
doing some errands for us. At Produce, we got potatoes, and you had your choice
of getting broccolli or salad fixings, and a big bag of Chinese noodles, and celery
sticks. We only had 68 people today: but the truck was late showing up. So,
it took longer today.

Got some ice cream in the freezer: that'll go good with the chocolate cake (Thanks
Ia. Brian, for the cake).

Supper tonight: beef pasta w/tossed salad, and chocolate cake with ice cream
(or Patriot Pops) for dessert.

Mookie, I see you peeking at the cake: here's you a couple of big slices!!

Brian, looking forward to the Blue Angels shots. Will stop into your webpage today on lunch and check out the others from the trip.

There's not much more there, but I promise to upload the airshow shots to Flickr tonight and post a link.

Note for Canon Digital Rebel users- mine was giving me trouble at the airshow, the autofocus occasionally went crazy. After reading the manual, it would seem that this is normal when aiming at something like a clear blue sky or something with alot of glare- anyone else have a similar experience?

Good Morning All,

Another 94* day in Denver yesterday, and it looks pretty much the same for today (albeit, there is a better chance for some ineteresting weather out on the plains this afternoon...will have to watch the situation, and maybe go spotting if things develop).

CW, the Orange/Tangerine juice this morning was wonderful! Great stuff to get one going in the morning!

Brian, looking forward to the Blue Angels shots. Will stop into your webpage today on lunch and check out the others from the trip.

Finally [#welcome] to all new faces, and to all those who have been gone for awhile. Set a spell and relax while eating the best food on the net!

Must be off. Hope you all have a great day!

TTFN!

Good Morning!

Beautiful day today, high in the low 70's, and a slight sprinkling too! But that's ok! I first checked in here a few weeks ago, so thought I'd stop by again to say hello!

Hey CW, that breakfast sure does sound good, but I already ate in the MR Coffee Shop today! And as a matter of fact I ended up having to buy today, but that's OK, I used to be a chef in my past life! [C=:-)]

[dinner] On second thought, I'll have some of those home fries! [dinner]

Hey CW,
Haven't been in here last couple days.

I sure would love to have some biscuits and gravy with the home-fried potatoes. I've got a Dr.Pepper so I'll be alright for the drink.

Sounds Great.

Everyone have a great day. It's finally warm and has quit raining.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!! Beautiful, cool morning here in Louisville.
Going to be a nice day for Produce.

Coffee is on, and juice is ready: we have orange/tangerine juice this morning.

Breakfast will be: sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, and home-fried
potatoes.

Everyone have a great morning, and I'll be back after I get through with Produce.

I even pulled a Bergie, took a couple of shots of an engine consist I was pacing while driving...yeah, I know, [D)]

Well, the pacing shots while driving didn't turn out near as well as I hoped. I'm not even going to bother uploading them. I did, however, get a couple of excellent shots of an eastbound TOFC while I was stopped in Mechanicsville (or, as jeffhergert calls it, Mickeyville) for refreshments at the Caseys. Here's one of them...

I'll work on uploading the Blue Angels tomorrow...

Yikes, Randy, that sounds almost as painful as my 'axe'ident I suffered in 1994- had the family out camping for the first time with our new pop-up camper, got everything set up, and decided to go to work at building a campfire. Only piece of wood available was this big fat log, so I decided to split it up with my axe which I had just sharpened earlier in the week. The stupid thing wouldn't stay standing up on one end for me, so like an idiot I braced it with one foot while trying to plant the axe in the end of it. Needless to say, the axe glanced off the side and buried itself into my tennis shoe. I did a very neat job of splitting the long bone that goes to my big toe. Luckily, there were a bunch of EMTs camped in the site right across from us, and they witnessed the whole thing. Spent the night at the University of Iowa Hospital, with emergency surgery to put things back together, then went home with a cast on my foot the next day.[:I][*^_^*]

Laughing my feathers off:

http://www.progressiverailroading.com/prdailynews/news.asp?id=8952

They are called "sleds" and we were still using them (albeit homebuilt ones made out of scrap rail & OTM) in 1990 on ATSF for spot jobs out in the high desert. They could be dangerous if not handled carefully. We pulled ours with front-end loaders and motor graders harnessed to thick steel cables. Well, I guess it's new technology in Mexico[(-D]

Afternoon everyone....

Had a nice weekend here in the Mad City, went to a jazz festival on Saturday night, was a good event, met up with a few friends and had a good time. Also played poker on Sunday, got seventh and fifteenth places and a really nice deck of cards for my troubles (they're the high quality plastic ones that do not take a set when you bend them).

Sorry Brian, I don't have a spare set of crutches around, the last time I was on crutches was in 1992, when I had a silage fork fall down the chute of a sixty foot silo and make two holes in one leg. Oh yeah, that hurt big time.

The stew sounds great for dinner tonight, CW.
