Good Monday morning, everyone. At least, I think it's morning. Only been up about
a half hour, long enough to be working on my first cup of coffee. Speaking of which,
coffee is made, and the juice is made also. We've got more of the orange-pineapple
juice this morning.

For breakfast, I've got all the regular breakfast items: turkey bacon, sausage, scram-
bled eggs, sausage gravy, biscuits, and fried taters. Also have some corn flakes
and raisin bran, if anyone just wants cereal for breakfast.

Everyone have a great day, and I'll be back in a bit.

Catching up a little. (Kids and Grandkids left this morning)

Larry Is your daughter getting married in your neck of the woods? Understand her problem. When my step-daughter and her husband started to make plans for their wedding in the DC area, they found at least a year wait for a suitable place for the reception-as long as they made a big deposit on the room along with the reservation. Changed the wedding day to a Sunday. Their minister was a little taken aback, but agreed and so she got a very nice room for the reception with almost an unlimited choice of dates and a price much below the typical Saturday rate.

Larry-Sorry to hear about your neighbors loss of the barn and stock.

Pretty chilly weekend here, but we're supposed to get sunshine and warmer tomorrow. At least we didn't have rain yesterday afternoon, so the party guest weren't confined to the house.

Jim-Dime a dozen? I resemble that remark.

Good Evening All

Brian, the shots are good for about 10 years if I remember correctly. So you might want to check into getting another one.

Monday is my Friday and I am sure ready for it.

Thanks for the recipes that were emailed to me. [:)]

Well I think I will head to bed.

Everyone Take Care

On other topics, the firemen's convention parade went off without any rain, but two of the apparatus in the parade had to leave for a barn fire. Fortunately, both were in a position where they could get out easily, and it's my understanding that the barn was abandoned anyhow.

It was chilly, though. That meant no heat problems, but it sure was cold pedalling my *** around town on my "EMS" bike.

Yes. [;)]

Daughter wants a fall wedding. Fortunately, they finally found a place with an opening (with the side benefit of the price being substantially below where they had been looking). Dad's already spring for the gown and announcements. Her mother is also kicking in some. Since the cost of the reception has now dropped from an estimated $7500 to around $3000 (never mind the DJ, etc) the ol' wallet won't be hurting anywhere near as much...

Wheeeeeeeee!

Joe, the strawberry pie is right here in the cooler. And there's two to-go containers
with your name on them for you to take to work tonight.

For everyone else, who's ready for dessert?!?!

The Sunday Dinner of meat loaf, green beans, etc. is now ready to be served.

Jim, you're so right about it being humid!! Our current temp is only 71, but it
feels like the temp is higher than that, with the humidity.

Jim, have you tried http://www.kraftfoods.com for your cucumber salad recipe?
They've got some good recipes on their web site.

Morning All

Thanks Zach, I am not sure dedication is the correct word. Some of us just don't know when to shut up. [:p] I remember 2 or 3 years ago that Mookie, myself and Ed, and maybe just a very few others were the only generals in the forum. Now "generals" are a dime a dozen. [:o)] I guess they never realized how much some of us like to read our own writing. [;)] I guess I better shut up before rotten tomatotes start flying through the air. [:o)] [B)] [:p]

Hot and humid here today, and getting hotter as we speak (type). With our humidity you don't even need water to take a bath, just bring a towel. [8]

I am wanting some home grown cucumbers and tomatoes. Only problem, I didn't even plant anything this year. With it being so dry you have to water it at least once a day and when doing that it drive up the water bill. Therefore, buying tomatoes is cheaper than growing them. Then again, store bought tomatoes just are not as good as home grown ones. [:(] Pretty much a catch 22 there, isn't it? [B)]

I have a question. Does anyone have a cucumber salad recipe? If so, please leave it in a post. That sounds good during this hot time. I make pickled cucumbers and onions with vinegar and Miracle Whip. It is pretty good. [:p]

Well time to get ready for work.

Good (early) Sunday morning all.....

Well, finally got my minor internet problem solved on Friday, Charter came out and diagnosed my cable modem as a terminal case. So we bought a new modem to fix that little detail...... At least I don't have to wait until 2am to visit anymore.

Has been rather cool here in Madison, replicating Jay's temps where he lives in the mid-60s, It's also raining again as I type this, got a half inch early Saturday morning, probably another tenth or so tonight.

Talked to my sister today, she now has her daycare instructor's sertificate from the State of Wisconsin, she's happy for that, she's also going back to Whitewater for fall classes to try to get her teaching degree, along with my other sister who's working on a degree in mathmatics (I forget what her minor was).

Jay, there was a barn fire over close to my parents the other day, Ron and Ray Vos (no relation to me) lost their calf barn as well as two Harvestore silos. Mom said they lost two for sure, and are missing eight calves still. She also said that was the big news for the week.

Found a new album the other day (actually it's one I've been meaning to pick up for some time now) by Beck, the title is Guero. Pretty good, though I doubt the older patrons would like it (Rock, almost dance material). Sarah might find it interesting. I'll keep it way down so as not to vibrate anything in the Diner (some tracks will vibrate the mirrors on my pickup when I crank it up). Don't want the owners to get a noise citation, either.

I'll catch everyone later in the day, see y'all later.

Brian

Fortunately, between scholarships and a good discount off the rack rate, we have the thing pretty well funded. Otherwise, even if I lived to be 100, I'd still probably have to have them tuck in the checkbook and a pen to go with me. Pretty much been through the drill with the older 4 in the merged family. Good thing I understand the concept of inflation, otherwise the increase from the $800.00 or so for my first year in a private college (1958-59) would have put a new meaning to sticker shock.

Good evening, all- the basement remodeling is coming along nicely, although I had to call it quits alittle earlier than I would have liked tonight when a 2X4 I was pulling up from the floor suddenly let loose and poked a nail into the palm of my hand. OUCH! Some of that still-warm supreme pizza will take my mind off the pain, though. I do know one thing- typing when you have an injury in your hand hurts like [censored].

In other news, we've learned that our son and his wife are planning on moving back to Florida in August, and will be coming home for a few days along the way- and also need my assistance (with the minivan) to move some of their stuff, so it looks like I will be making a whirlwind trip to LA around mid-August.

Jay, now the fun begins. But hey, student loans and Parent-Plus loans are very low interest! Too bad you can't use them to finance the wedding as well. Our daughter plans on getting married in October 2007, so we have some time to prepare.

The party's over. About 40 adults and countless kids. Rain last night and showers this morning went away, but even with sunshine the temps stayed in the low 60's. As always, we take the weather we get and accept it as a blessing when it could be worse. Matt did a major breakout of his senioritis and greeted adults as the mature person I know he can be. The only conflict came when his mom suggested a 50-50 split on the take. That didn't fly, but I think we are close on getting a promisory note for the $180-200k spent getting him this far. So, if that comes through and I can find the guy who offered me the deal on the Brooklyn Bridge...

Matt's registered at Butler University in Indianapolis going for the six year Dr. of Pharmacy program. I know he will do well.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Speaking of rest, I'm going to get some even if I have to curl up behind the kitchen range.

Pizza hit the spot!

Rain mostly held off today, so the firematics went off as planned (I caught a couple of the events at the end), and I got my lawn mowed - which was important because I would have had to call in one of our firefighters who also happens to be a farmer to mow and bale it.... Got the last of the flowers in, too!

Now if we can get through the parade tomorrow nice and dry. Not warm, though. Mr Weather Station here at the house says the high was all of 58..... More of the same tomorrow.

And daughter called and said they've finally set a date for the wedding - October 20. Now the fun can begin...

Joe, thank you so much for putting on the coffee, and making the juice.

Those cinnamon rolls sure do look and smell terrific this morning: think I'll
have a couple of them with my coffee and juice.

While you all are enjoying your Saturday, doing/going wherever, please be
sure to stay safe out there, and be back here around 7, 7:30 for our

Well CW, they'll be no Goetta Pizza for us tonight. We are, however, leaving here soon to go to Riverfront Pizza in Covington KY to get us those spectacular hoagies they have there. But if anyone wants Goetta Pizza let me know and I will pick one up there, before we leave.

Everyone be safe, it should be raining here soon. YUK!!

Buenos Dias everyone (though if you're a Denver native, you have to pronounce this "Byoonos Dias," kind of like "Byoona Vista."

CW, thanks for the kind words on the meal. It was great fun to cook! Probably won't be around for pizza tonight since I'm headed over to a friend's house. Hope you all have a great time tonight!

Well, have a couple errands to run this morning so I can head out tomorrow for railfanning, or hiking, or something like that (haven't actually decided yet).
