Supper is ready, if anyone is here to eat it: chicken & dumplings. It's in the Crock
Pot, keeping warm. Made the broth nice and thick.

Drinks are the same: iced tea, lemonade, and fruit punch.

Desserts are the same ones that were on the lunch menu.

Been busy here at the grind - don't get a lot of chances to duck in. Will have to forgo dinner here for a firemen's dinner (steak!).

At least the weather here is decent, although a few folks got surprised by a rogue rain shower this afternoon (I missed it). Everything is nicely dried out now.

Later.

Brian, Sounds good. I hope you can get more time then just an evening though. What way will you be going, I-40?

Just got a call from my son- now they're talking about moving it back a week, so now it's the 27th?[banghead]

Since I'm going it alone, I'm not allowed to dally (Joanie doesn't like spending nights alone). Hence we'll only have one evening if we're lucky (hopefully the kids will be organized and ready to load when I get there). I'll be going via Denver and I-70 to I-15 and trying to make it a two-day trip out, two-day trip back.

[:0] Sorry honey but I broke down in Dagget and it took all day for the local shop to make repairs.[;)][:D]

Seriously though, give me a hollar when the time gets closer.

Well it is Monday again. [:(] Where did my weekend go? [B)] [8]

Hey guys and gals, if you have not checked out this topic please do so. These people deserve some attention and praise for what they have accomplished. It is something everyone of us would like to do, but some of us just can't. Please also post in their thread to keep it going and showcase their work. THANKS. [:)]

http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=67662

AND they DIDN'T get their steam engine from China either. [:D]

Well it is going to be about 95 today. The humidity will boost the heat index 2 to 5 degrees tho. [:(] I'm singing in the humidity, just singing in the humidity. What a wonderful feeling, I'm (not) happy again. [:o)] [:D] [:o)] <Jim's verson of Singing In The Rain.>

I am thinking about putting Duchess' surgery off a few weeks. Not sure just when I will go ahead with it. Thanks for your concern.

Guess since hardly anyone is in here, we'll just have tuna salad sandwiches w/your
choice of fries or tater chips for lunch. Also got plenty of coffee, iced tea (sweetened
and unsweetened), lemonade, and tropical punch Kool-Aid. Also have plenty of
milk, if anyone wants that.

Desserts today: leftover birthday cakes, apple cobbler, and mixed fruit Jell-O.

And Good Morning to you All,

Please excuse me if I look a little "off" this morning. Still trying to recover from 100ºF temperatures yesterday![xx(] Thankfully, our high should be in the 80's today, and I hear tale we may even only top out in the 70's tomorrow. Oh how lovely that would be!

Jim, hope everything works out with Duchess. It's amazing how attached we can get to our critters. One of these days I'm still going to get Chiquito (my chihuahua) back from my mom. That's kind of a long story... Still, he'd be pretty happy here right now. Even at 100º, you might still find him hiding under a blanket (no joke). Of course if it gets windy, rainy or snowy he turns into a little chicken (whoops...sorry MC)....I mean a scaredy cat (ummmm....didn't mean that Mook)....uhhhh.... he just doesn't like it.

Well, I guess I must be off. Hope you all have a great day! TTFN!

What is this with everyone so busy - it is supposed to be summer and lazy. It is even busy here - at least in my 1/4 of the universe.

Sarah - glad I didn't have to perform for pizza. It would not have been pretty. Congrats on management job. I dealt with the public for many years and now just grateful that I only have to answer an occasional phone call. They will wear you out!

Jim - Mookie had one of those eye cysts. It never was removed and her demise was from other complications. But cosmetic-wise - it bother me more than her. Just didn't want to put her through more surgery at her advanced age. Duchess will be back to her cute self in no time!

CW - Randy's coffee was so good - maybe we should ask him to branch out into lattes, au laits, frappacinos. Mutt could buy us some really big mugs and those of us that like "odd" coffees could drink lots of coffee and throw sand all day! [:D]

Laughing at my own jokes just wears me out!

Good Thursday morning, everyone. I think I'm awake, not really too sure, yet.
Coffee is ready, and the orange juice is made and in the cooler.

Breakfast this morning: BLTs and cereal.

Jim, know how you feel about Duchess. I'm sure she'll make it though her
surgery just fine. When will she have her surgery? We'll remember her in
our prayers.

Good Evening All

I have been real busy again today. Lots of errands to run on my day off and I usually find lots of other stuff to do also. I can make a list that just seems to grow instead of getting smaller.

Duchess is going to have a minor surgery to remove her growth. They said it was nothing to worry over but you know how people are with their pets, they are just like kids to us.

It is funny how quickly two days off can fly by when the work week drags on. [:(!] I have not been able to figure that one out as yet. [8]

There is a lot of fuss over the Chinese steam engines going to Iowa. I think it is an insult that they didn't find American steam engines. Sorry to be the stick in the mud on this one, but it gripes my goat.

I bet the crewmen who work in the cab won't be too happy about it either. It will be HOT in the cab. [:0]

Happy Belated Birthday to the birthday boy and girl. [:D]

Joe, hope Matt is enjoying his birthday today!!

Tonight's supper: double cheese pizzas for our birthday girl, and birthday boy.

Other pizzas on the menu: supreme, sausage/pepperoni, and goetta.

Don't think I've ever seen birthday candles that looked like fries!

[bday] To both!

Chris - I think some of that warmth might finally be headed east - decent weekend forecast, if Alberto can manage to stay out of our picture.

Network down this morning, so couldn't stop by till now.

I'm early today posting the lunch menu. For lunch, in honor of our little birthday boy,
we'll have burgers, hot dogs and fries. Along with his chocolate birthday cake for
dessert. I know Matt won't have any trouble blowing out his six birthday candles (you
know, five, plus one to grow on)![:o)][:o)]

There's also going to be a special supper, which will be served around 5 EDT today.
In fact, some people might just think that I think it's Saturday around here!!

Tip Top of the Morning All,

First off [bday] to Matt and Sarah! Hope you both have a great one!

Well, we hit 99 yesterday (sorry about the exports Jay...didn't think it was right not to share! [:P]). I think I'm going to have to head up to the high country this weekend and find someplace cooler. (There's around a 3.5ºF drop in temperature for every 1000 feet gained in altitude). So ignoring all other weather phenomena, heading up to Bear Lake (a little above 9000 feet above sea level) in RMNP would mean a drop of about 14 degrees from Denver. Of course, there's usually a lot of clouds and/or rain (and occasionally even snow) up in RMNP, so the high temperature can actually be 20-25 degree or more different!

'Tis been said, if you don't like the weather in Colorado you need only wait 15 minutes or drive 15 miles and it'll change! Sometimes it's not much of an exaggeration!

Well, must be on my way. Hope you all have a great day!

TTFN!

Happy Birthday to all the birthday people. Man, it seems like it has only been a year...

Super weather this morning. I see by the weather bug that the temps are rising for the weekend. Thought for a while that we could keep the heat in Colorado, but I guess that is not to be.

Hope this doesn't bug Brian too much, but since our big open house-graduation party is past, all the major house project are over (at least for now). In fact, the cleanup is complete as of this morning when our refuse company picks up about three times the usual amount of garbage and recycle stuff.

I'll take another cup of coffee out to the deck next to the track and get some sun.

[bday], Matt and Sarah!

Gotta run here, my workload both here at work and at home has suddenly escalated, so I'll be scarce for awhile. Part of the reason is that my son has notified us that they're moving from LA to Florida via Cedar Rapids (for a few days) in late August, and we want to take the opportunity to hold an open house for them to celebrate their marriage back in May. As you may surmise from that, all the fix-it projects I've got on my wish list just got a priority bump.

Also, a heads-up to Chad- they're going to need my assistance in moving whatever stuff they can't sell, which will require me to make a road-trip to LA with the minivan starting on the 18th of August. If everything goes according to the tentative plan we've made, I might be available for some limited mutual railfanning on the evening of the 20th. I'll keep you posted...
