Yawn....it's ok - I had a paw over this canyon.

Switch8frg: I heard it was at the lip of the canyon, and they were hoping it wouldn't go down. Then I heard it was across the road from the houses. This is getting too serious.

Everyone on here knows I am geographically dense, but now when I look at the weather channel - I can't name a lot of the eastern states, but I know - that is Tree's area or Mutt and CW are there or Houston Ed (well you got the idea) I didn't know Ohio was even there until Joe showed up. And Chicago was a big city over there somewhere. But I am familiar with the western states and have been there.

Driver is a native Californian and I have had a lot of close up and personal visits with canyons. Tornados don't scare me 1/18th as much as fire. Bad scene! As Joe would say - Stay Safe!

I have to ask our wizened forum - isn't Gonzaga known for basketball, not triple digit IQs? Enquirer wants to know. (It is an inside joke and if you don't read the drier parts of the forum you are unenlightened. Probably best to stay that way!)

Overnite had some blinking lights and a little noise. Maybe even a few droplets, but don't think it amounted to much of anything. Had a bright warm sunny day yesterday and power went out for about 6 hours. (clocks were all blinking when I got home!) I guess our power stations aren't getting enough coal!

This writing a column is tiring. So will tap Elsie and then hit the.....hmmm.....recliner, floor, hammock, garden.......oh this is just all too much.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone. Sorry about getting in so late. Overslept this
morning. Coffee is now ready, and juice is made. Got two kinds of juice this morning:
orange and orange/tangerine juice.

Cannonball, will definitely pray for the firefighters working on getting the fires out!!

Breakfast this morning: BLTs on toast. Too hot this morning to put much in the
ole tum-tum.

Everyone have a great day, and stay as cool as you can today. Think I'll take my
walk early, before it gets too warm outside.

Ms. Mookie;
Some things just dont' seem right at times, but there is a canyon , ___ Oak creek . We wi***he fire stayed on the upside of the mtn., but not to be .It is headed downhill to the canyon 1 mi.away .No fire bombers allowed today , canyon is to narrow. Just choppers with bambi buckets , and 3 droop snoot choppers .Pray they get the job done. Thank you for your concern. Cannonball.

KY Brian, I love you idea for supper. So, we've got cheeseburgers going on the grill,
and I've got a big cast iron skillet filled with fried potatoes. Got plenty of red and
yellow tomatoes, onion slices, and pickles to go on the cheeseburgers. Do we need
anything else to go on the cheeseburgers?

Jim, we've also got some BLTs for anyone who doesn't want cheeseburgers. Or,
anyone can have both, if they prefer.

Dessert tonight: fresh out of the oven apple and peach cobblers, with plenty of
ice cream to go on top of the cobblers.

And on another note . . . I hear it is raining in (and near) Chicago. No rain here though, hot and dry.

Well it is too hot to work outside and kind of warm even in the house. [B)] As a matter of fact, I am going to do BLT sandwiches, chips and dip for supper. Cantalopes are on sale now, so I might have some slices for dinner also.

Well I am going to the game room. I have a pocket full of quarters to spend.

CW,
How about firing up the grill. My wife was wanting cheeseburgers last night. But the rain kept us inside. We were going to have fried potatoes also. We had to settle for bologna, turkey, and cheese.

I went into Wal-Mart last night thinking I could get in and out before the rain started. That was my first mistake. It was pouring like you never saw when I got ready to leave.

It didn't rain all day until I got off work. We are going to try it tonight. They are calling for thunderstorms later tonight into tomorrow morning. Then the rest of the week is chance of daily summer pop up storms.

Ya'll be careful.

Maybe we ought to get a couple more first aid kits, to be on the safe side around
here!!

We had 73 people show up for Produce this morning. Thought I'd never get through
calling out the numbers, for the people to get in line for their produce. We got: po-
tatoes, lettuce, yellow peppers, bananas, and little round watermelons. Got the
watermelon in the fridge, getting nice and cold!! We'll have the watermelon
for dessert tonight!!

Lunch today: we're going Mexican today: tacos, beef burittos, beef & bean burritos,
and quasadeas (sp?).

Now would someone like to give me an idea or two for supper tonight?!?! Please??

And how is everyone this morning? [:)]

Another hot day here and getting hotter as we speak. After the rains we had it is already dying out and the grass is dying again. I don't have much motivation this morning. When I work the ready track it takes a lot out of me. We had some 5 and 6 unit consists last night and as usual anytime you get over about 4 units you are asking for trouble. [:(!] We didn't have to go looking for trouble, it found us. [:(] [V]

This would be a good day to close the shades, put on some gentle thunderstorm "rain" (sound recordings you know) and take a long nap. I just wish I could.

Morning All,

Thanks to all for prayers and other efforts to send water this way. Had a bunch of dry lightning yesterday that had fires popping up just about everywhere.

Larry, you are right about the smoke. When we had the really bad year (2002 I think it was) we had lots of smoke in Denver. It was actually a neat effect...filtered the sunlight and gave off sunset-esque light all day long.

Truthfully, the fires wouldn't be such a bad thing, provided of course that they could leave people and their property alone. My trips to Yellowstone have never ceased to amaze me just how quickly and completely Mother Nature can take care of herself. If I remember right, one of the big trees out west (Giant Sequoia or Redwood maybe?) actually needs fire to release its seeds for baby giants to grow.

Meanwhile Brian, I've gotten out the tourniquet again. You won't be needing any aloe vera this time with it, will you?

Well, I must be off. Hope you all have a great day!

Chris
