Made it back from the library, with an armload of books for Walt and myself.  Not long after I returned home, the first storm rolled through.  This was around 11:40, 11:45.  Now, at 5:23 p.m., we've been at it again since between 3 & 3:30:  thunder, lightning, thunderstorm watches, warnings, tornado watches/warnings.  We even had hail:  pea size, quarter size, and hominy size.  Our yard was almost covered (at least what I could see from the front window in the living room).  We're still under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. tonight.  In about 10 - 12 minutes, we got 3/4 in. of rain.

Supper tonight:  leftover roast beef, taters & carrots w/green beans, cole slaw, and whatever other veggies you want.  And we even have Easter cupcakes left for dessert.

Sun's out here.  None to warm (mid to high 40's), but a beautiful day, nonetheless.

Need to factor in that two hours of beauty sleep I lost last night  Smile,Wink, & Grin and get a few projects done.

Right now the Dal is informing me that he didn't get his usual treat when I got home.  Loudly, I might add....

It looks like we are gonna have lightning, thunder and/or whatever for the next 24 hours, at least. there are, at present, no watches, thankfully. The low country (Charleston, etc) appears to be getting a pasting, now. There seems to be a high over the gulf and it is funneling the moisture this way. The wireless stays disconnected another day. Yall take care

Yes, it was a rainy day....sometimes it really poured it down.  Just a little lightning earlier this evening, but nothing to be concerned about.  Probably tomorrow will be doing much the same, and Wednesday we're to see a warmer and sunnier day...actually, several of them.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Most of the rain is out of here; but, today we're to have drizzle and light rain off and on all day.  Our temp this morning is 50 and we're only going to 55 for a high, then back down into the low to mid 40s for tonight.  Guess I'll need my rain coat for Tuesday Produce this morning.  When I was going to bed around 10 p.m. last night, it was really pouring down.

Coffee, juices and hot water for tea are ready.  On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, cereal, toast and some fresh fruit.

Mookie, here's you coffee mug, just waiting to pour coffee in it, whenever you get in.  You all take care and have a good morning.  See you all after Produce.

Turning into a great week here - nice temps and sun all week.  Night time temps are still dipping down to freezing, but that's good for the maple syrup folks.

Made some vegetable soup for supper tonight, along with freshly baked cornbread to go with it.   Also, made some beef pasta for supper, for anyone who doesn't want just soup and cornbread.  And we still have about a dozen and a half cupcakes left from Sunday.

Not sure what our high was today, seems like the temp has slowly been holding steady all day, hovering around the 50 degree mark.  Tonight, though, it's supposed to get down to about 40.

Produce went pretty well this morning, even though the truck was very late.  But we had a good selection of items:  grapes, peppers (think they were hot peppers), pints of chocolate milk, 1/2 gallons jugs of orange juice, and 10# bags of potatoes.

Everyone have a good evening, and enjoy your supper!

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Mutt, thanks for putting the coffee, juices, and the hot water for tea and cocoa!

On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal & toast, bagels and bear claws, oranges, grapes, and buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.

Cannonball, hope you get your computer problems fixed soon, so you'll be able to be back in here with all of us!

Everyone enjoy your breakfast, and have a very good day.  Mookie, I got you coffee mug out of the cabinet, and have it ready to pour coffee into it, whenever you get in this morning!! (Think we need a new smiley face:  one with a coffee cup/mug on it!)

After that stirring narrative, Good morning. Partly clear and 55 degrees in Carolina this lovely morning. My girls came into my room rousing me up, allowing that they had to go out. That's why I am here at this unusual, for me, time! I hope everyone is doing well this morning. Anyone going to a tea party? Take care

Thanx CW - need coffee this morning.  (well, what's new there?)

Joe - post office - they could cut our mail service to about 2xs a week.  We get very little "mail" and having to drag one small postcard  of advertising from the mail box to the garbage is a big waste of time.  Just bring it all on one day and save cost!

Nothing earth shaking here.  Almost warm enough to go fishing.....very soon!

First dog is nicely marked and as a puppy is/was very appealing.  But a little large for my taste.  I am more the Jack Russell "mutt-sized" dog.  Something floppy and always smiling.  Or a mellow cat.  Or both.  Approve

Joe, there is a Tea Party taking place here in Sioux Falls today between 12:00 noon and 1:30 pm out at Covell Park. I'm not sure that I can make it to this party, as the location is kind of out of my way, and I'm not sure that Covell Park is accessible from the bike trail. Anyway, I am hoping that there will be more of these protest-big government parties in this community in the future.

My brother-in-law prepared my federal income tax return a couple nights ago and my sister mailed it for me yesterday morning. I am getting a refund of a little better than $700.00, and about half of that will go toward wiping out the balance on some credit card debt that I have. It will be a LONG time before I ever again use a credit card to pay for anything!!

Due to my work hours I only get to check my mail once or twice per week (I have a post office box).  Aside from the fact that it's stuffed to the gills most of the time (the postmistress often bundles it up and all I find in my box is a yellow "call at the window" card), it's not a big deal.

The ongoing talk about closing smaller post offices would definitely put me on the fast track to rural delivery, but I'd get my mail every day that way.  I could probably change over now, but I don't relish all those change of address issues.

It would not bother me to see residential mail delivery cut to two, or at most three days per week. A lot of what shows up in my mail box goes either into a paper recycling box or into my kitchen waste basket. And it really irritates me that every other Wednesday the U.S. Postal service has to stuff my mail box with coupons and other useless junk.

42 and not raining here finally.....Still underperforming in temps though for this time of the year.  Seems to be a pattern....Wonder if it will all of a sudden head into the heat of Summer when it changes....

Tea Party.....??  My hopes are we as a country...{not political parties}, can somehow work together to get our economic house in order to do the work at hand {right now}, and that is, to get us beyond this terrible low point and start to climb out of our econimic situation.

Now again, we hear of another American ship under attack by the idiot pirates this morning.....Can we get on top of this situation....?  What about these mother ships supporting these operations....Can't we use sophisticated equipment to locate them and put them on the ocean floor.....That might get their attention....especially if they are out on the open sea {a hundred or hundreds}, of miles from shore in their little "speed" boats.

We can't keep a regular mail person on this route:  they also have to do about three other routes before they take care of this one (the regular route they have).  It seems they always want this route person to take care of others' routes when they are out sick, on vacation, etc.  And this is a pretty big route, all by itself!  I personally wouldn't mind going a day or two without getting any mail.  Most of the mail we get is usually just the junk mail.  Monthly bills don't start coming in until the last week and a half of each month.  And every Wednesday is when we get all the really junk ads.  Used to be Tuesdays, then they changed it to Wednesdays.

For lunch/dinner and dinner/supper, we have our Mexican Fiesta menu:

1.  Burritos (beef, beef/bean, and beef enchilada style);  2.  Tacos (soft shell and hard shell);  3.  Spanish rice;  4.  Chimichangas;  5.  Enchiladas;  6.  Quesadillas;  7.  Fajitas; plus several other TexMex dinners.

At 12:52 p.m., we have a temp between 46 and 48, depending on where you live in the area.  And it's very breezy out.  Skies are very overcast.  Think we'll be lucky to reach a high of 52 today, which is what they're predicting.

Everyone keep warm this afternoon, enjoy your meal, and take care.

Sounds like a great supper - hopefully it won't produce any untoward effects, though, as I am helping to teach an EMT class about Incident Command tonight.

From an earlier session, before I worked on the simulator:

It's an HO scale town, about 12'x16', with a variety of types of locales.  Several years ago I refurbed the "layout," cleaning up the scenicking and painting/decalling about 100 Matchbox-style vehicles to represent the fire, police, and EMS agencies we have around here.  Quite the project.

Here's some from after I refurbed it:

Scratchbuilt airport crash/fire/rescue station:

The fire department at work.  Note the "smoke!"

A traffic stop on the Interstate:

Shoppers looking for a "Blue Light" Special:

A tanker from the "Mutual Aid Volunteer Fire Department" fills up at a hydrant.  There's even graffiti on the water tower!

A couple of cars tangled in front of the airport:

An officer tempts the police dog with a donut at the police station:
