grampaw pettibone I have attended one live auction in my lifetime, and that was enough. I raised my hand to scratch my head and nearly bought a large keg of 10 penny nails! Never again!

My cousins' grandfather was an auctioneer - and a pretty good one at that. They made money each summer working at his auctions - carrying stuff out for show and delivering items to the bidders (if it was small enough to carry). I worked a few auctions with them.
I don't routinely attend traditional auctions - I'm not one to buy for buying's sake, and there's not a lot on my shopping list. I don't often buy things at the PBS auction, but I have been know to pick up a bargain. The fire-themed toy chest that came up for sale last night was tempting....

It already has cleared of rain for now Justin....It's a lot lighter now, but believe we'll have a bit more before it is finished.

Larry, looks like some very nice items on the auction block! I volunteered one year, at the local KET during the pledge drive. It was when I worked at the bank, and we had fun. They even provided food for us to eat, as we came directly from work, to the studio. There was about six of us, if I remember correctly, who volunteered to work that night. That was when I met Ken Kercheval, from the Dallas TV show at the time.
Mookie and others, with the rain today, yesterday, I figured something like beef stew and cornbread would sound pretty good.
And, if anyone doesn't want beef stew and cornbread, there's also some of the lasagna, garlic bread and salad left from yesterday.
Everyone have a good afternoon, and keep safe and dry.
Mookie Tree: This sounds like a lot of fun! I helped on an auction here on our local educational tv and we had a blast! There was never anything I wanted to bid on at that auction, but it sounds like I could really spend some of the Driver's hard earned $$$$ on your auction. (Then wonder what I was going to do with it!)

Here's some info on some of the stuff they're offering...
Hi all! I sitting in computers class now. I got all my work done so I got on here. Camping went well. I got wet but I had fun. I won't be getting on tonight beacause mom grounded me. Mom got a new camra Saturday it's a Sony. Verry little shutterlag and 10.1 megapixels! I thanked her graciously!
CW I get to eat B-fast!!! It is soooo good! Have a nice day everybody!

.....Central Indiana, continued light rain and 50 degrees. 5/8" so far starting Sunday morning....I'll let it accumulate until the rain moves on Tuesday sometime and see just how much these several days have produced. Than it's to be sunshine.

Auction went well last night - although I didn't buy anything. The good stuff always comes up when I'm running camera and can't bid! Only three more nights (of me working - it's every night through Sunday)
Found out the Adirondack has again donated lots of rides and underwrote part of the auction. I'm not running camera that night, so I'll go in as the RR rep, in uniform, and spend some time in front of the camera. Not like I haven't done that before.
When the auctioneer/reader is reading the RR's information the station runs a video (instead of the smiling face of the auctioneer). They're using some stills I provided a while back (including one of moi that they could have left out), too.
Rain here later today - hopefully the driveway coating is now fully set.
CW - I am in a stew.....(groan) Coffee excellent as usual!
My excellent senses tell me that there is a Mudchicken in the state! I must prepare for a drive-by! Sounds like he is doing his usual 4 states in 8 hours! I only hope he slows down long enough for me to at least catch a glimpse of him!
morning
matt is on time and on the bus.rain here in nw ohio.good sleeping day.have errands to do in town this afternoon.Cw as always breakfast and luch menus are excellent choices.Time for bed.
Good Monday morning everyone. Still raining a tad here; nothing too heavy, and should be clearing out of here sometime this afternoon. Probably more like sprinkling raindrops, than anything else. I'll be glad to see the rain end for a bit.
Joe, I missed seeing them at the game. Must have shown them, while I was out of the room, doing something else. Sorry Houston, but I'm glad the Reds won the game yesterday.
Mookie, got your coffee mug down, and it's clean, ready for coffee to poured into it, whenever you get in.
Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready.
On the warmer bar this morning: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, bagels, bear claws, oatmeal, toast and fresh pineapple slices. (Yeah, I'm really hungry this morning, and made a big selection for everyone to select.)
How does a big ole pot of beef stew w/cornbread sound for later on today? Or, what else would you all like to have today?
Rain in Johnson City, Tenn., and all the way to Danville, Va. When we had to get out of the car, it was barely sprinkling, if it was doing anything at all. Quite a change from aster Sunday, when we had snow in New Bruswick.
It was a beautiful day in Bristol yesterday, with no rain to mar the alumni festivities.
I took the prize (a King College mug) for having come farther than any other alumnus. The runner-up lives in Denver.

Paula did you notice George Sr. and Barbra Bush were watching the game? glad the reds held on and won.Mookie yes naps are good.Still rain off and on here in nw ohio.Cw thanks for supper.time to get things around for work tonight.
Raining here now, which should help in the grass fire department, we have had a few of them lately. Still didn't stop me from playing with fire yesterday, though the pile of brush and cut-up trees went up a little faster (and hotter) than I would have liked. At least I didn't accidently set the rest of the brush on fire. Now that we have a good chunk of space cleared, will be much easier to start a burn pile in a cleared area and feed it with trees we cut down. Still have a few choke cherry trees to get rid of, plus the rest of the grape vines and maybe a cedar tree or two. Lawn should double in size by the end of the season.
Think I'll sit back with a cool glass or two of iced tea, sounds good today....

BNSF busy this afternoon. Saw 2 CN's headed south. Some coal, a grain and a mix of TOFC and COFC on one train.
Saw a "quilt engine". It was primered in different spots and made it look like it was put together by a committee. Was once a nice SD70, but now looks like an orphan.
Must continue nap. Didn't get much rest trackside.
Moo.
The rain is coming down harder now. I was going to go take my daily walk, but even with my raincoat on, I'd be drenched in ten minutes, the way the rain is coming down. Hopefully, it'll clear up, and I can still get my walk in for today
So guess I'll go ahead and refresh the warmer bar. Getting the burgers and cheeseburgers ready to transfer to the bar. And I've got more freshly made salads coming out of the fridge, and going into the cooler. Also dishing up some more lasagna to put on the warmer bar, along with garlic bread, that is fresh out of the oven.
Also listening/watching the Cincinnati/Houston baseball game. Score is still 1 to nothing, Houston. When I was in the living room a few minutes ago, they were in the bottom of the 4th.
cherokee woman Quentin, the rain down here started just after 1 a.m. this morning. Still coming down as very light rain. I'd really call it drizzling.

.....Warm, {58 plus}, and overcast for our start here in central Indiana. Probably some rain later. But none arrived last night as they were predicting, so who knows.
going to be a rainy sunday today.Cw thanks for breakfast.time to get Matt ready for sunday school.
Yes, the airshow and fireworks show was as great as always, and I think better than it's been in the past 20 years, that we've had it.
We have a current temp of about 56 degrees, with a very light rain. Overnight, we got less and a tenth of an inch of rain. Looking for a high in the mid 60s today.
Coffee, juices, and hot water for tea are ready. Mudchicken, if you need it, I' ve also got some hot cider this morning.
Mookie, got your coffee mug ready to pour coffee into it, as soon as you get in the door!
On the warmer bar this morning: turkey bacon, eggs, pancakes, waffles, bagels and bear claws. OH. . . some muffins, too!!
Does anyone have any requests for Sunday Dinner???

Fire department roast beef dinner tonight. Not a bad turnout - we made some money.
Off to PBS tomorrow night for the annual merchandise auction. I'll be behind the camera, as usual.
