A belated report of Washington, D. C., weather for Wednesday--the weather predicter said that there would be afternoon showers; as we were eating breakfast in the hotel restaurant, we saw people using umbrellas as they were walking--afternoon came before eight in the morning. as it was, the rain had stopped before we left for the station to take the Cardinal for Chicago. We had a pleasant trip, riding in a bedroom.
The weather in Chcago is not as warm as was predicted, but we were indoors most of the time. We had a good visit with my nephew and his wife, who live in Bolingbrook (they came in on the Burlington). We are waiting for Carl and Pat Shaver to come in and eat supper with us.

Afternoon All!
Finally have a minute to stop and check in. Been so busy with school (Finals are in 2 weeks. Graduation on the 15th of May) and Job hunting (Shoot me now please). The weather here is AMAZING! It was 70 yesterday with a light rain passing through. We got 6 inches. However 6 inches in Wyoming is the spacing between the drops on the ground and not the amount that fell. We had a light breeze of 25MPH. Today is pretty much the same!

I took advantage of the nice weather we've had here in Sioux Falls the last couple days and got my yard cleaned up, and I am glad I got it done yesterday as today's temp is supposed to hit 84, maybe 86 degrees. I now have 13 paper bags filled with dead leaves and dead grass awaiting my brother to haul out to the landfill this weekend, and providing that it doesn't rain this weekend, Tim will also clean out my gutters for me.
Our local HO scale railroad club will be hosting an open house this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, and I am going to try to produce a couple batches of chocolate chip cookies for all our club members to munch on while they work our open house. I think I've got just enough ingredients on hand to do this.

CW - trains are quiet this morning, so let's do the garden. It is absolutely gorgeous out there today! I think we are going to finally have a spring. Most of the flowers are really starting to pop and it makes it such a wonderful time of year.
I had a short chat with the "Observer" this morning. He/she is our resident bunny. Just sits on the front lawn and observes all the traffic going by. Until The Driver throws out the morning corn cob. Then it is a race to the backyard to get it before the squirrels do.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready. On the warmer bar this morning: bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy.
Since I'll be gone this afternoon, I have made some sandwiches and put in the fridge for lunch today.

For supper tonight, we have Pork chop abracadadbra, with broccoli and cheese sauce, Stove Top stuffing (pork flavor), mashed taters and gravy, and for anyone who doesn't want broccoli, there is lima beans w/corn.
Gonna go now, and figure out what buses I need to catch tomorrow: got a call and my ankle/arch support is ready for me to come in for a fitting. Know I will have to take two buses to get there.

Mookie, you are probably right, about it being "spring fever"! If so, Mutt's had the same symptoms today: chilly here in the house, wearing long sleeves, and constant headache.
Unfortunately, we can't just stay in the house, have to get outside and do things around the yard. And it's been very breezy today. At least the temp has been warmer today, but you still need a jacket on when you go outside: wind makes it feel cooler than what the thermometer records as the temp.
A nice day under way here....but after while when I start to mow, I will have to hold on my hat. Just a bit of wind has flags standing straight out today. Party sunny....tomorrow the heat begins.

It's only a table runner woven in the same style (and with some recognizable design elements) of a full sized coverlet. I may make it into a wall hanging.
Wish I had the real thing! There is one that was woven for a family member (on my mother's side - so it has that family name), but it's in the hands of an unknown collector.

Had our first thunderstorm of the season last night - and I was tied to a camera so couldn't even go out and watch it! It certainly poured - we could hear it in the studio.
I did pick up a small replica of a Tyler Coverlet and a matching tote. Tyler Coverlets were all custom woven for their intended recipient - they were often given as wedding gifts. The work was meticulous.
The fellow who created them built his own loom and did the designs. Unfortunately, he never trained anyone (specifically his kids) to do an entire coverlet - he always finished them himself - so when he died suddenly, so did the making of these unique coverlets.

Quentin, we made it up to 53 for our high today. Like you said, way below our normal! We did have some light rain showers about a couple of hours ago. Not very long, sun came right back out. Definitely weird weather. Watch: next month, we'll probably have weather so hot, it'll feel like July 4th around here.
A beautiful day for our drive from Warsaw to Washington; nary a raindrop along the way. Yesterday was quite different, with rain off and on all the way from Danville to Warsaw, complete with a heavy shower between Weems (where my parents met) and Warsaw. Tomorrow, off on the Cardinal.

I've got the beef stew heated up for lunch, and just took a couple of large pans of cornbread out of the oven. Both are now on the warmer bar; there is also some salads made up, and in the cooler.
We had a very busy morning at Produce: 71 people, and got some goodies off the truck this morning: cabbage, apples, bags of carrot slices, onions, potatoes, and some diced green onions in bags. They left us only 40, 45 10 lb. bags of potatoes, so we had to cut the bags open, and pour half into plastic bags, so there would hopefully be enough for everyone to get potatoes. Did'nt work, as we still ran out of potatoes. At least a dozen people were not able to get potatoes this morning. But no one complained about what they got or didn't get, so that was a good thing. (Sometimes, we have people complaining that they didn't get this or that, and want to know why we ran out.)
If you all want something different for supper tonight, other than our usual Tuesday Night Mexican Fiesta, please let me know what you'd rather have, and I'll get on it.

Good morning. CW, thanks much for breakfast this morning. Currently, we have 44 degrees and an overcast, cloudy sky here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It is supposed to warm up to about 64 this afternoon. Having nothing better to do, I'm going to try to get a good start on getting my yard cleaned up, and I want to try getting some of it done before it starts raining, if indeed it will rain today.
Yesterday I had submitted an application for employment with one of our local Hy-VEE grocery stores, and I was told that they may call me next week for an interview - if they have an opening that they need to fill, so I am quietly and anxiously hoping......

Ever see someone who has just enough similar features in their face that they remind you of a celebrity (or just someone else you know)? Had one at the auction on Sunday - reminded me of country singer Sarah Evans. This woman obviously isn't a country fan (I'm not either, for the most part, although the videos are usually more entertaining that rock vids), as she'd never heard of Ms Evans. Would be interesting to be at her workplace, though, when she told a co-worker that someone thought she looked like Sarah - especially if the co-worker thought for a moment and replied in the affirmative...

We had a nice conversation yesterday with our favorite Mudchicken. He was doing one of his infamous "how many states can I cover in 3 days" routine. We just happened to be one of the "rest stops". Unfortunately he didn't bring the original 2nd Driver (Gus the Scotty) I always enjoy seeing Gus! And, of course, Sir C, too!

The weather system that has been hanging over us, just isn't going anywhere; so we keep the possibility of scattered rain. Our high for today isn't supposed to be over 53, 54 degrees.
Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready. Mookie, your coffee mug is washed and dried and on the counter, ready for coffee to be poured into it, whenever you get in here.
