Good morning from Utah. We got back to Salt Lake City about one this morning, because the UP did not want Amtrak to damage their track maintenance equipment by running into it, and had us sit in Grand Junction for two hours while they worked towards getting their equipment off the main (#6 seemed to be about on time when we met her). It's nice to sleep in our own bed again.

And another beautiful Spring morning....Warm and full of sunshine. Temps already into the 70's.
Might get a bit of wind today, but right now just a slight breeze.
In about an hour we'll be in our church service and then back to get ready to head to Red Lobster for some lunch....than check out at least part of the Nascar run down at Talladega.
Can't believe how nice our yard looks now....
Quentin
Good morning. CW, thanks much for putting breakfast together for the rest of us this morning! I got up within the last half hour and it is raining here in Sioux Falls, and I'd heard some thunder a little while ago. Right now our temp here is roughly 45 degrees. I'll be going out to the fair grounds for the 2nd day of our railroad club's open house and our club's President will be picking me up within the next three hours. We didn't have any coffee out there yesterday, so between myself and our club's President, I think we will get that taken care of.
With all the rain we are getting now, I'm sure glad I got my yard cleaned up last week.
I hope the rest of you are all having a very good day!
Ray
Morning

Good Sunday morning, everyone. Nice and warm this morning. We have a temp of 71 degrees, going for mid to upper 80s again today. The wind is below 10 mph, so they'll get the balloons up for the Balloon Race this morning. They're trying as hard as they can, to get it going this morning, as the winds are to pick up later today.
Coffee, juices, and hot water for tea are ready. On the warmer bar this morning: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and pancakes and waffles. Plenty of hot maple syrup, and I believe we have some blueberry and strawberry pancake syrup, also.
One thing we're having for Sunday Dinner is chicken abracadadbra; veggies to go along with the chicken will be broccoli w/cheese sauce, corn, and mashed taters w/gravy. And I think I'll fix some spaghetti w/meat balls, garlic bread, garlic toast, Italian bread, and garden salad also.
Everyone enjoy your breakfast, have a good morning, and take care.
locomutt Does your railway have another RS-3 in the "Refurbishing" stage? Saw some pics. the other day of an Adirondack Rwy RS-3 with the windows boarded up, and in sad need of a paint job. (don't remember any dates on the pics.)

No RS-3's. Odds are if you saw "Adirondack Railroad" locomotives they date from the 1980's Olympics incarnation. One of them (the "Tampa Tiger") is stuffed and mounted next to Utica Union Station.
We are working on an ALCO Century, but progress on that is dictated by available money.
I had one of the station staffers take some pictures - I'll get them downloaded tomorrow. Time for bed.

What a beautiful day we had here....84 was our high. More yard work including more flowers planted..{Jean}, and me, another mowing. Looks nice now.

tree68It certainly was a beautiful day. The conference was OK, and I did get to spend some time looking out over the St Lawrence River (and a beautiful Boldt Castle). The railroad is the major sponsor for the PBS auction on the late shift tonight, so it's time to get the uniform ready and go make an appearance.

It was a very nice day here also, though I spent most of the day
inside repairing the plumbing for the outside faucet.
I think it got to 87, with the record for this date being 88.
Larry, have them take some pics of you in your uniform and
post them!

Such a beautiful day today! We have a very nice breeze blowing, but it sure is warm out! I'm not sure what our temp is right now, as I haven't even paid any attention to the thermometer.
Here is our Pizza menu for tonight:
1. Anchovie
2. Canadian bacon
3. Goetta
4. Hawaiian
5. Pepperoni/mushroom
6. Supreme
7. Italian sausage calzones
Desserts for tonight: Black walnut ice cream, Neopolitan ice cream, Chocolate ice cream, Peach ice cream, and Snickers ice cream
The pizzas are on the warmer bar, and there's plenty more made up and in the fridge, if we 'accidentally' run out and need to pop a couple more in the oven. And, of course, the ice cream is in the freezer.
Hi all!!!
It's Justin here. Mom let me get back on today. I'm really greatfull. I went on a photo shoot today. I got a really good shot with my new camra! It's of a NS (of course) SD70 in the what I call the Oreo Cookie sceem, then there was a -9 trailing that. Then another SD70. I wanted to try something diffrent so I went to Willamsport IN to shoot. I like it better than Lafayette. It is awsome and close. Some of the residents are strange there though...
Cw, can't wait for dinner! I have missed youre' cooking!!! I brought something for you to fix... Fresh musrooms!!!!! Hot off the woods! Yep I also went shroomin' today as well. I bet we got 1/2 a pound.
Very nice here as Quintion has stated. It is 81* here today!!! Is it summer or is it spring in disguise? IDK, but I look forward to interacting again!
Sinceraly, Justin S.

A most beautiful morning here with a breeze and sunshine and it is warm.
Some years ago we did quite a bit of driving from here to Nashville {Opryland Hotel}, and Louisville {interstate}, was always a section of highway one had to pay attention to closely. Seems so many speeded up upon going thru there {55 mph limit}, like they didn't want to fall behind others, or something like that, and we ended up sailing thru rather fast, and dangerous in my opinion. Was always glad to get thru there....
Once passing thru there {north direction}, a stone flew out of a truck's dual wheel and smashed into our Lexus windshield post and cracked the windshield....it cracked like a shotgun. I kept my cool, as we were in the left lane next to the concrete barrier and didn't flinch....Wife Jean about jumped out of her seat....But we made it ok, and of course never had a chance to contact the truck driver.....and continued home and insurance repaired and replaced as necessary....Glad it didn't hit directly in the center of the windshield...That might have meant real trouble. We survived ok, and car was repaired like new.
Good Saturday morning, everyone. Ray, thank you for making such a good breakfast this morning. No, I didn't sleep in this morning: just did a couple of other things around the house, instead of getting on the computer first.
Randy, this week is a very good time, to NOT come thru Louisville on the interstates. Too much Derby traffic. Although, if you're a Paris Hilton fan, you might want to come to Louisville Friday: she'll be attending the Barnstable/Brown Derby Eve Gala. (Me, I could care less for her, and I wouldn't attempt to go to see her.) Maybe just about anyone else who might be there, but not her.
Everyone have a very good morning, and I'll see you all back in here tonight, for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.
Well, I reckon someone is sleeping in this morning, so I will take responsibility for serving breakfast. On the menu for this morning: bacon and scrambled eggs, blueberry pancakes and french toast with hot maple syrup. We also have the usual generous assortment of donuts, rolls and bear claws. And the coffee is about done brewing. And I've mixed a fresh batch of orange juice.
Miss Mookie, I got your favorite coffee cup out of the cupboard.
It's raining here in Sioux Falls, actually right now it's more of a light drizzle than anything else. I just pulled a dozen chocolate chip cookies out of my oven, I'm getting ready for our railroad club's open house this morning, and one of our club members will be picking me up.
I hope the rest of you all have a very good day!
Ray ooo ooo ooOOOOOo
Evening all.....
Had a nice quiet run up from western North Carolina today (whoda thunk it there would be a paper mill in the middle of da mountains?!?), though I forgot Louisville was a mess. Knoxville had better traffic at rush hour than Louisville at 2pm, but got through unscathed. Tomorrow will be swapping with another paper load to head down to SCA's Barton Mill in the town of the same name.
Today was the first day it got warm enough that I had to run the A/C in the truck most of the day, though now I have all the windows and vents open. (And some moron decides to park next to me with a running reefer unit-sigh, will be tough sleeping tonite) Makes it much easier to hear the radios with the windows up, though the truck runs hotter. Highest I remember it getting today on my mirror was 87 between Shelbyville and Louisville, from a low of 47 in the I-40 gorge in NC.
Fish was great, CW, now off to bed to rest my stiff and sore back (another long story).

91 degrees in South Dakota...!! Wow...That seems unusual after recent much cooler offerings. Yesterday was really beautiful here but the promised high did not make it....Just to the upper 60's. Then last night it remained at 60 and this morning a bit warmer, so today must be the day the nice warmth really arrives.
And for several additional days forward.
Headed out to pick up new glasses and then {Jean and I}, on to the church to check and resupply envelopes in pews....Then we'll think about lunch....
With sunshine, warmth, fertilizer....and plenty of moisture....the yard is growing like gangbusters. It will need mowing again soon, but it looks rather nice and a deep green.
Guess it's about lunch time for you all, so think I'll just get everything set out on the warmer bar.
FISH:
1. Catfish; 2. Cod; 3. Perch; 4. Salmon patties and croquets; 5. Jump butterfly Shrimp; 6. Haddock; 7. Halibut; 8. Flounder
SIDE DISHES:

DESSERTS:
1. Yellow cake w/chocolate icing; 2. Chocolate cake w/white icing; 3. Apple cobbler; 4. Cherry cobbler; 5. Peach cobbler; 6. Blackberry cobbler; 7. Pecan pie
That's about it, unless any of you can think of anything else you'd like to have on today's menu.
Mookie, hope you and Driver have a good time this afternoon. Bet you have your reading paraphanalia in your book bag, ready to go!
tree68Free time. What's that?
Larry, that's when you never have to set your alarm clock (unless you need to set it for some reason) to get yourself up in the mornings, don't have to be anywhere at a certain time, something like that.
Mookie Tree - you need to get a part-time job for your free time. You and Mudchicken exhaust me! Bet if either one of you took time to grow roses, you would have to hire someone to smell them.....

I've been keeping an eye on my tulips (the flowers, although I keep track of the others in the mirror). It appears they'll be blooming in the not too distant future.
Free time. What's that?
Weather Alert: South breeze - bringing all kinds of odd pollution from TX, OK & KS. Stay inside and shut your windows. Very bad for people with heart/lung problems. Tonite hail and high winds and cooler. (that must be for aforementioned states.....)
Having said that, I am sitting by an open south window and going fishing with Driver at 3 pm. Eyes are watering and nose running, but that is my life in general.
CW - coffee in garden!
She who has no signature! cinscocom-tmw
Ray - a little rain might be a good thing for the show - people looking for an inside activity!
Back to the TV studio tonight for another round of the auction, then off to an EMS conference tomorrow (followed by another trip to the TV station).
Weather here is supposed to be gorgeous today and tomorrow, and pretty nice on Sunday, albeit with the threat of a thunderbumper. 'Tis the season!
Bearclaw and tea, then off to change some passwords.
Good morning. CW, thanks much for breakfast this morning. It was a warm one here yesterday, it got up to 91 degrees here. Today's weather is supposed to be about 30 degrees cooler, and we have a 60% chance of rain for tomorrow. With the threat of rain, I kind of wonder how this will effect the turnout for our local railroad club's open house. I'm not going to worry about it though.
Last night while doing an internet search, I learned that our local Red Lobster restaurant is hiring servers and dish washers, so I will be running out there to apply for work within the next few hours.
going to be a beautiful day.things are looking good for twain hunting.hahahahah(elmer fud laugh)Cw thanks for breakfast.
Joe
Good Friday morning, everyone. We have a current temp of 69 degrees F. and it's very windy outside. So windy, that the Ky. Derby Festival cancelled the Rush Hour Balloon Race for this morning. Going for a high around 86 for today.
Coffee, juices, and hot water for tea are ready. And there's also Gatorade, Mudchicken, if you're interested in that this morning (the truck made it's first delievery of the season last night).
Here's our Friday Doughnut list for today:
Danish: apple, peach, raspberry, cherry
Doughnuts: Cruellers (sp?), cake doughnuts, vanilla filled doughnuts, chocolate covered doughnuts (including the long johns, with cream and the custard filled chocolate covered long johns, muffins, pecan rolls, including the usual bagels and bear claws.
Mookie, got your coffee mug ready for you, and I believe our rockers are right where we left them yesterday morning, if you would like to sit outside and watch the world this morning!
cherokee womanBut, since I was riding the bus, couldn't very well, stop, take off my shoe, and put the support in my purse, considering how crowded the buses I was riding on were!)
Paula, had you taken the effort to take the support out, would you have been less crowded?
I hope it helps you more than the support that Ricki has been wearing for several months; she does not believe it has helped her at all.
JoeKohhope you like 2 toots.(just kidding) Not sure where you guys are going but its always a good time with Carl and Pat
Yes, Joe, we had a good time with Carl and Pat; if Carl were not working tomorrow, we would have enjoyed their company longer. We ate at Miller's, which is just east of the hotel (and much less expensive). We have an easy morning tomorrow, since we leave town on the California Zephyr (not at all like leaving Washington on the Cardinal yesterday, or leaving Montreal on the Adirondack last Wednesday), heading for the Crossroad of the West, putting an end to four weeks of wonderful travel that was mostly by rail (some places just can't be reached by passenger rail anymore, and rental cars are a wonderful invention--I'm too old to ride the rods (I really preferred woodracks) anymore, and Ricki never did)..
Just got home about an hour and a half ago; not only had the fitting for my ankle/arch support, but came home with it in my shoe. Wore it a total of 2 hours for today. Will gradually increase the wear time daily, until I'm wearing it all day long. Hurts a little bit, wearing it. They did tell me that it would hurt until a get used to wearing it. (Actually, the two hours I had it on today, was an hour over what I was supposed to do for the first time. But, since I was riding the bus, couldn't very well, stop, take off my shoe, and put the support in my purse, considering how crowded the buses I was riding on were!)
Supper tonight: sloppy joes w/your choice of fries, chips or baked potato and salad.
On my way home, it got very cloudy, and looked like it could start raining any time. By the time I got off the last bus, walking to the house, it started thundering. Other areas could have gotten rain/thunder & lightning, but so far as I know, we never even got a sprinkle here at home. Just the sound of thunder.
Everyone have a good evening and take care.
hope you like 2 toots.(just kidding) Not sure where you guys are going but its always a good time with Carl and Pat.Lots of spring cleaning here and yard mowing and trimming.Lets see chores are done and tonight is friday.Nice weather on the way too.Better get the batteries and cameras ready.Cw thanks for supper.
