Who is this Paul that Mookie is saying lives with Walt? That ain't the way I heered it!

Tom, maybe my twin brother and I traded places!Laugh  His name is Paul.  Guess that means I'm typing this from Shepherdsville, KY!!

It started snowing here last night, about 8:30 or so (nothing heavy), but we have about an inch locally, and some areas have about 2 inches this morning.  Glad our local school district is closed today for MLK, Jr. Day, as there are several accidents that have occurred, especially over on the east end of the county.

Joe, thanks for breakfast!!  That oatmeal sounds pretty darn good this morning, along with a  cinnamon roll.

Everyone take care going out today, and for those who have the day off, enjoy!!

I am glad we got that straightened out!

Well, didn't Paul and Paula have a couple of hits in the 60s? I remember HEY PAULA and several others. I didn't know we had celebrities in our midst. I am impressed!

At present, 38 degrees and foggy in Carolina this morning, with a chance of snow tomorrow morning. We keep trying....

Thanks for breakfast and everybody have a great, safe and warm day

At least "this duo" would always have the correct pronunciation of Loo'-vull.

(Last weekend, A Prairie Home Companion was broadcast from Louisville, which poor Garrison Keillor, despite numerous attempts at coaching, could not pronounce properly.)

Back from the dentist in the past hour....and beautiful sunshine with clear blue skies.  Rather cool this morning and now at noon it's 19.4.  But no additional snow so we can handle this very well.....Great sunshine.

Walt and I have been out sweeping off the steps and sidewalks, and putting down ice/snow melt.  Most of the snow has melted in our front yard.  Haven't check out the back yard yet.   Do need to get back to the north side of the house, and put down some ice/snow melt there.  That part stays shady, so definitely need it there.

There is nice sunshine, even though it's not too warm, and our temp is about 24, 25 degrees, depending on your location.

Warmed up some vegetable beef soup and made some more cornbread for this afternoon.  Also heated up the sloppy joes and hamburger buns, and the deep fryer is ready if anyone wants some french fries.

Anyone hear from Mookie, Dan, Brian, or Larry this morning.  I think they're the ones I don't remember seeing come in this morning.Confused

Everyone have a good afternoon, and take care.

Another cool morning, with increased haze--I could barely see the Wasatch this morning as I drove to see the doctor. Ten miles east of here, I could make them out. When I arrived at the clinic, I was told that there was no record of an appointment for me. Since I had fasted, I gave blood, and I was allowed to go back at three this afternoon. The doctor saw nothing serious, and I will hear from the blood next Monday. This afternoon, I learned that the clinic's computer system suffered problems the day my appointment was made.

Even though we may have some precipitation late in the week, no relief from the haze/smog is expected until a stronger cold front comes in next Sunday. Today, all five counties on the west side of the Wasatch range, from the Idaho line south, have bad air. I found out today why Provo, south of here, has much lower temperatures reported than are reported here: the only point reporting is at the airport, which is in a low place.

Take care, all.

Springtime tomorrow!

I only wish I was talking about the weather (and no, this is not a political reference!).  But I had to work yesterday without the benefit of one of the retarders, due to the breaking of one of the large springs that helps release it.  Tomorrow is maintenance day, and the new spring is due to go in.  So Wednesday, when I return to work, I should once again have my full contingent of functioning retarders.

(Let's see...two weeks to Ground Hog Day, six weeks after that...)

Well, finally got down to where it's warmer, if one can call 30 degrees and snow in Georgia warmer.....

Truck ran continously from Thursday afternoon to Saturday night, Friday had about a dozen trucks running in our Weedsport, NY yard, in defiance of New York's no-idle law (which the state can take and shove into an interesting place sideways-best way I know of wording it and keeping it a family foroum)

Off and on snow showers here in Cartersville, makes for interesting watching as the four-wheelers slide all over the intestate.

Oh yeah, I see the place moved to new digs, nice decor!

See everyone later.....

Hello to diner folks ~~~~~~ ( tossin' hat in front door) been real heavy into workin'  produce and haulin' groceries to the south side social center .Week end road runnin' takes a lot of time.  Some times trying to keep a set of ( joints) trailers  in line can be very interesting  on wet or snowy roads. They tend to try to pass the cab at times.  Still cant' send e mail yet, worm/ bug / or virus . No one seems to know what it is, or have big enough pliers to pull it out.  The ( boys in black ties& white shirts)  is rubbing their hands together waiting to drive black beetles here @ many bucks to fix.  Hope to stopin more often .       Respectfully, Cannonball

Good Tuesday morning, everyone, and Cannonball, good to see you back in!  Hope you and others soon find out what is causing your email troubles.  It's definitely no fun, having computer problems of any kind.

Coffee, hot chocolate, hot cider, juices and hot water for tea are ready.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, cantaloupe slices, turkey bacon, sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/ sausage gravy.

We have a temp of 13 degrees F this morning, and may see a few flurries this morning.  Supposed to have a high in the mid 20s by 5 p.m.

Not sure how many people we'll have for Tuesday Produce today.  Seems a lot of people left town to travel to DC on tour buses to watch the inauguaration in person.  Guess we'll just have to wait and see how many people do manage to show up.

Everyone have a very good morning, take care, and stay warm.

Present and accounted for.   Short week this week - I'm enjoying that!

Grandbaby apparently had a touch of pneumonia over the weekend and spent some time in the hospital.  Gramp wishes he was a little closer so he could help out with such situations.   He gets along just fine with both the baby and the pups.

Off to the projects at hand.....

Pneumonia's no fun--we had a daughter in the hospital for a month with pneumonia and another pleural infection (it required surgery to take care of).

Being down there to help isn't necessarily what's best, for anyone concerned.  It's good to let the parents know that you would be willing to make the trip.  But trust me, it's a little gut-wrenching to see a granddaughter who's usually lively and smiling, just feeling listless and miserable when she's awake--and too young to know why.  Obviously, her parents have things under control.

I'm here.....on this very bright morning.  So much to do this morning.  TV to check out of all the hoopla in Wash....Paper work in the office here.....Insurance papers to shuffle.....Neighbor even brought newspaper to the door, but haven't looked at it yet...and just now got on here.  12.6 degrees when I first looked this morning.....and slowly going up now.  Overnight we must have had some moisture in the air as it was {is}, on the trees showing all white, etc.....But bright sunshine is beating on it now.  Clear skies.  No more snow.

Good morning Americans, it's Tuesday. Currently, 29 degrees and SNOW in Carolina this morning. This is the first snow here in years, other than a few random flakes from time to time. We have about three inches at present, and still lightly coming down. This means the whole state will shut down for a while..... Thanks for breakfast, and everybody take care.

Agreed.  And I wouldn't just show up - I'd have to be invited or at least hear an indication that keeping up with the situation was going to be very difficult before offering.  Son works a 24-on/24-off with little room for unplanned absences (somebody has to cover, usually involving overtime and being on duty for 72 hours straight).

DIL has a more forgiving schedule, but if it was to go on for any length of time, I'm sure they'd appreciate the relief.

For now, all seems to be well.

Eighteen degrees this morning, still with haze. I could see the mountains until the sun came up over them, and now it is just glare.

Larry, I trust your grandbaby throws the pneumonia off soon, and that there is no need for you to go down.

CW, did you watch for people you knew in DC?

Tom, when I was growing up, in the Upcountry, we seldom had much snow, but the ice storms could really wreak havoc. The schools may not have shut down, but many school buses would be late getting into town (this applied after heavy rains, too) because most of the country roads were clay with a little gravel, and it was not at all unusual for a bus to get into a mudhole. I had a ten mile afternoon paper route, and there were times when I had to get off my bicycle and push it because the clay had collected between the fender and the tire.

I may have overestimated the amount of snow. More likely, it was between an inch and two. At present, we have 29 and freezing rain, and the grass is beginning to show through the white, so it won't last too long. It doesn't take much to shut down this part of the state. We have no snow removal equipment at all. Don't get enough snow to justify it, but just a little stuff and the schools close, people panic and hit the grocery stores, etc. Anyway, hopefully, the ice will melt quickly and things can get back to normal.

I wouldn't expect any place in the Low Country to have snow removal equipment. You are perfectly justified in relying on natural means (which the City of Chicago had to do several years back when a snowfall overwhelmed their ability to move the snow out of the way, so it was loaded into gondolas and shipped south on the IC. After the snow melted, the cars were returned north). But, when people who you would expect to have the equipment do not clear their sidewalks, even a week or more after the storm, you wonder about their concern for their fellowman who may be walking by their houses. There are some, who have corner lots, who clear the walk in front but do nothing about the walk on the side. I have known one man to clear his driveway completely, and not bother with the walk; I was tempted to walk in his driveway as I passed his house. I just think,"There are heathens everywhere," and walk in the street. I notice this because, if it is warm enough, I try to walk three miles a day, four days a week.

CW, did you watch for people you knew in DC?

Johnny, to answer your question, no, I didn't watch for people I might know this morning:  I was too busy at the Community Center, with the Produce and signing in the people coming in to get fresh produce.  And when I got home, I took a mid morning nap.  So I missed the entire thing.

The produce truck showed up at a reasonably early time, and, unfortunately, there wasn't a lot on the truck:  some shredded cabbage w/shredded carrots, shredded lettuce, some Tomilito (sp?) tomatoes, a few containers of cranberry orange relish, and potatoes.  That was the extent of what was delivered.

Our regular Tuesday Mexican Fiesta is now on the warmer bar:  tacos, burritos, bbq babyback ribs, chimichangas, fajitas, spanish rice, lettuce w/onion and tomatoes.

Larry, I hope the baby is soon well.  Everyone have a good afternoon, and take care.

OK, now I am depressed.   Just talked to a young lady visiting us here at work (on business). She was complaining about our weather.   She lives just outside Colorado Springs...

GP - When you're not used to snow, a little will certainly look like a lot.  The 28" they got in Adams Center over the weekend would have really been a shock to your area...

Johnny - I suspect that township I live in (~70 square miles) has more snow removal equipment for its 125 miles of roads than most mid-south cities.
