Happy Birthday to BossHen!
Sunny and on the way to the upper 60s today. Time to start XMas shopping for my wife. I heard of a jeweler who is offering insane discounts for bringing in old gold jewelry for recycling and I'd really like to get her a nice bracelet this year. We'll see what they have. BTW...I can paralell the CN mainline north the whole way there () so we'll see what's rolling this morning, too.
Finally have the house cleaned up from all of the wedding pranks pulled by my wife's cousins. It's amazing how nice that feels. Thanks for breakfast and I'll be back this afternoon.

She is on the road with our feathered friend, so don't know if she will see this, but and happy traveling.

You are so right, Mookie. I had it written down correctly on my calendar; just posted it a day early. Bosshen: if you get a chance to see this today, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Mudchicken, I forgot to wish BossHen a Happy Birthday yesterday; please convey my wishes.
Mookie; please Don't mug the mail person! You never know what they have to deliver to you until after!
(okay, if you're there and you don't get what you thought you should; maybe?!)
Larry; for some reason, I had a dream about a CSX hopper car painted in weird colors,
and your name (and mine were associated with it?)

....And it's 49 degrees here in mid America. To be much warmer this weekend.
Going over town to an early Insurance meeting. Have to change some of our Corp. provided Insurance program. Instead of them providing Sup. and Precp. Drugs, now they will provide an account for us to draw from and we select what we want {in insurance}. And so on.....Hate what everyone is calling "choices"....making it sound so great. Modern times and economy...yehhhh.

Good Thursday morning, folks. We have fog and temps in the middle 50s this morning. In some of the outlying areas, the temps are in the 46 to 49 degree range. When I got the paper off the front porch, it didn't appear to be too foggy, right here in our area.
Coffee and other breakfast beverages are ready; and on the breakfast/warmer bar this morning: bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, toast, biscuits & gravy, bagels and bear claws; also have some cantaloupe this morning.
Everyone have a good morning, and take care.
to bosshen!!!
Cw thanks for supper.Ed we are keeping you in our prayers. We have an errand to run then its time to get cleaned up and ready for work.

....Tom, yes...the correct frequency is 146.73, as I went out to the garage to look in the truck to look on the scanner since I wrote this morning. The freq. is still in it at that number. This group has a 440 freq broadcast too but I really don't know if it's antenna is on the same building. Coverage here on the 2 meter {that I hear them}, would be on a good day about 40 miles both north and south along I-69 which runs N & S of us about 10 miles west. Then the white noise starts to dominate. Don't know about the 440. Have a good friend with the top license that has been in it for quite a while and gives tests for licenses. He even has it {2 meter}, on his new Harley and late model GMC truck and car......
Your list of contacts with the {HF}, you mentioned is very impressive and must be a lot of fun when the stations are heard well enough to communicate. The thought occurred to me over the years many times to get into it, but never did and won't anymore now.

Quentin, we have a local club that I helped found in 1975 and it has three repeaters. One on 146.85, 146.97 and 444.100 (I think). There is not a lot of activity on them at present. The repeater you listened to was likely 146.73 or 146.745 output frequency. These days, there are such strange splits that it's hard to determine base frequencies at times. I just spent some time on high frequency (HF) and talked to folks in Israel, France, Italy, South Cook Islands, Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands. It was an interesting opening.
Ed, what can I say.... You are in my prayers and I hope your discomfort is minimal. It would be best to expedite your surgery to make this thing past tense. Be blessed and take care
We have cloudy conditions here, at 12:40 EDT. Looks like the rain has moved on. Current temp is in the low to mid 60s, and our high today is to be 70.
For today's lunch and supper, how about this menu:
1. Chicken & dumplings
2. Leftover tuna noodle casserole
3. Open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters & gravy, corn, green beans and garden salad
Desserts: chocolate cake, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, apple cobbler and peach cobbler.
Mudchicken, give wishes to BossHen from all of us here at the Flatwheel Cafe!!
You all have a good afternoon, and take care!

Well; I'm not sure about the Dog and Cat Toys; they don't seem to be missing anything.
We have a few extra extension cords, probably could use an extra ceiling fan though.
How much does it cost to ship drywall screws from Wi. to Ky.?!
Nice sunny day (if cool) here in the north woods. Looks like that through the weekend, too.
Doing fire prevention for the kids on Friday, working the railroad on Saturday, barbequing chicken on Sunday. One of these weeks I'll actually have a full weekend off.
Back to the grind.
Greetings from Winston-Salem: Start to a midweek day with something to talk about on almost every subject according to MSNBC.
Presently 58 degrees, overcast, w/ winds SSE @ 5 to 10 mph, perhaps some showers later in the afternoon.
My only comment is from an old Scotsman I once knew:
"In bad occurrence in the present are the seeds of a good future sown."
Have a great day

.....Ed....Sorry to hear of your latest situation. Will add you to prayer list so as not to forget.
...Update: We have attracted Humming birds last Summer as we installed our first feeder on our window in the family room, hence, we get close look at them. Just removed the feeder for the season. Noted the last bird at the feeder Oct. 1st. They migrate, some as far south as Cental America for Winter.
Edit: Robins {lots of them, back in this area last week after seeing very few for weeks and weeks now. They must be working their way south.
....This is the time of the year when it could push a cold spell across us, or....like it's to do this weekend...in the 80's with sunshine. Transition time.
Most of the leaves are on our trees yet. But, oh the daylight hours dwindle so....until about the 15th of December when we start to gain more back in the evening. Then we wait while Winter unfolds for it to increase both in the morning and evening {about the last of the 1st. week in Jan.}, and the daylight hours work their way on towards nice weather....Spring....! And our good weather cycle starts all over again. But first, Winter...
Tom, do you have a local club on 2 meter that you converse with on a daily basis.....Like your "hometown group"....? Locally here, {especially when I was still working}, I'd hear the local fellows chatting on the morning "weather net"....Many of the regulars checking in etc.....{I'd listen with my 200 ch. prog. scanner}. Not sure if I remember correctly: 146.73mh....Haven't tried to listen for some time now...The club is located here in Muncie. Repeater is on top of Ball State Un. Teacher College building, a 10 story structure giving them rather wide coverage in our flat country.
For me it is not good. Found out that last night when I thought I had a Kidney stone which would have been nice at least those pass. However turns out I ripped a major back muscle loose in my back during a Seizure. The docs are wondering if I need surgery to reattach it or not. I hope not I hate surgeons. For me that is all I need right now. Give me a cup of coffee to go and I will chase it with 2 Vicadin and my toridal.
mmm - good coffee on cool morning. Thanx Joe. Had one cup with breakfast and then fell asleep in chair watching the no-news on tv. Lots of things can keep me awake, but coffee doesn't seem to be one of them.
Another gorgeous day here in the true midwest. Right on Willy! And we have a new generation (only 1) of the birdy species that has long ears and white, fuzzy tail. They seem to ignore the corn we put out for them and eat the birdy seed. Wonder if they will learn to sing or just bring Easter baskets.....
Whatever; it is all good.
a wet start here to the day in nw ohio.good weather for napping.cw whatever you want to make for lunch.just throw it in a container for me please.mooks here is your coffee mug.
....It either has rained or is raining very lightly now....Just breaking daylight and can't really tell. 64 degrees now. Must check the rain gauge when we get moving here.
Good Wednesday morning, everyone. Currently not raining at our place; but it is still raining in the general Metro area. According to the weather report this morning, we have received 3/4 of an inch of rain since it started yesterday afternoon. Some areas to the WNW of us have already gotten 1.5 inches.
Mudchicken, have a safe trip, going and coming back.
Coffee, juice(s), hot water for tea and hot chocolate are all freshly made this morning. And, you'll also find hot chocolate, and hot cider, if you'd like that.
On the breakfast bar this morning: turkey bacon, pork sausage, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns, bagels, bear claws.
You all have a good morning, and if you're in an area getting much needed rain, try to stay dry. Does anyone have any meal requests for today? If so, let me know, please!

As chickens are prone to do, will "beat feet" and get thee east, away from the snow. Mooks may need to be on the lookout come Sunday. Uncle Pete may have changed my return plans.

Fat chance! Us "pack rats" are like alcoholics - always an extra one, just in case! Sorry, Tree, you and I are done for as far as that goes.
