I've been up for a little better than an hour here and right now we have a temperature of 35 degrees. It is promising to warm up to about 61 later this afternoon. We kind of have a cloudy and overcast sky here, but otherwise it is shaping up to be a pretty nice day. It is supposed to hit 72 here tomorrow.

We had a rain front that came through this area on Friday, and it quickly turned into snow. I walked to work that morning wearing a lightweight vinyl poncho, and it was actually better than carrying an umbrella. The amount of snow that we had gotten out of this system did not amount to much, and now it is all gone, but it is my understanding that the northwest corner of my state got hit with as much as 10 inches of snow.

I have the day off today and will spend some of my free time just exploring the web sites of a few hobby shops, such as Caboose Hobbies of Denver, Colorado and a couple others.

....Right now....45.1 degrees and sunshine.  .02" of rain overnight.  Did not hear it.  Warmer starting tomorrow.  If it dries today, must energize the John Deere and it and I must do another mowing.

Still waiting for our Humming birds to arrive....Should be any day now.

My sister at Ft. Knox, KY has seen Hummingbirds and Orioles for 'several weeks' according to her blog.

C'mon down and see the store - pretty well took over most of a city block. (complete with a full scale Plymouth "critter" inside...)....Lurch doesn't fit in the lot, gets left in the street.

ps...Copcar and I are wondering if we will drown on Thursday or get buried in snow. The weatherliars are guessing all over the place... may have been banished to parts east (Cheyenne  & Kit Carson counties) by the time it hits.

....That sounds encouraging Cannonball.....I thought we'd see them back by now.  Have had the feeder out now for over 3 weeks.  I didn't know just when they were expected back here in central Indiana.  Did note on a Humming bird web site...a person had emailed in, he had Hummer's in on May 9th at Anderson, previous years {as you know is near by}, and I'm just comparing from that as to when we might see them.

Surely, we're getting close now.  Have changed the solution in the feeder 3 times now since putting it out for season beginning.

I'm wondering if we'll see any of the same birds.  If so, I can ID one of them with a little abnormality to one wing.

Edit:  Dan, the Ft. Knox area has somewhat advantage on us in being almost 150 miles farther south.

In the many years that we've lived where we are now, I don't think we've ever seen a

Humming Bird in this particular area.....now Robins, Cardinals, Doves, etc. we see, and

have plenty of.....even a few Orioles at times, but believe most of them went back

to Baltimore. Wink [;)]

Hello everyone!  I have been on the go since this morning.  After I got through with Produce, one of the ladies from Produce, took me with her to a couple of places.   Then, I had other errands to get out of the way.  But I now have supper ready for tonight for you all:  kind of a Chinese night:  plenty of fried rice, with your choice of the following meat:  beef, chicken, and pork, with peas and carrot pieces, etc., with won ton soup, egg rolls, sweet & sour pork, etc.

Not sure what our current temp is, but it sure did warm up nicely.  Not too cool, and not too warm, either.  Very comfortable outside.    You all have a good evening, and I'll try to pop back in later (if I don't collapse and fall asleep, that is).

....Walt, if you are interested, put a feeder out and you very well may get several feeding at it in no time....

I had never seen any here right at our place but friends in our same addition did have feeders out for quite a few years and had them annually.  It didn't take them long to find the feeder I have.  I'll send you a pic of one feeding.

If you remember the adage...."If you build it...they will come", well we had a Hummer

feeder out several years ago...and they didn't..(show up) seems they don't like this part

of the city. Most of the other people in this area that feed the birds have said

about the same thing...they just don't seem to like this area.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Another nice, pleasant day on tap around here.  Current temp hovering around 42 degrees.

Coffee is on, fresh juice is made, and water is hot for tea.  And if Mudchicken and Chris need it, I'll fix them some hot chocolate this morning.

On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs, hash browns, pancakes w/syrup, cinnamon rolls, and homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.

I've got some roast, taters & carrots cooking in the Crock Pots for today.  Have to go to the doctor this morning (primary doctor), and not sure if I'll be back in time to do lunch.   Put that on, so you all will have something, just in case I'm not back.

Have a good morning, everyone.

Joe and everyone, did get some good news from the doctor today:  my cholesterol is down to 160!  Had to have more blood work done.  Went to the doctor today, because I've had a big bruise on the inside of my left foot.  Haven't hit it on anything (and the inside of the foot would be a mighty hard place to hit on something), so he ordered the blood work, to see if possibly the Plavix needs to be decreased.  Will go back again on June 2nd.

Looks like there's going to be plenty of roast, taters and carrots w/gravy for supper tonight.  Side dishes to go with it:  your choice of the following veggies:  green beans, brussel sprouts, broccoli, corn, stewed tomatoes (mixed w/biscuits & sugar), cole slaw and your choice of dinner rolls or baked cornbread.

Good Thursday morning, to all!  Mookie, it has been a long week, hasn't it?!?!

HAPPY MAY DAY to everyone!  Anyone have a May Pole we can put up?!?!Tongue [:P]

Coffee is ready, and fresh juice is made and in the cooler.  On the breakfast bar this morning:  blueberry  and strawberry muffins, bear claws, bagels, and, as a special treat this morning, BLTs on toasted bread.

Think I'll take my coffee and head out to the garden.  Feels nice outside this morning, and I'll watch the sun come up!

ohmigosh - I just yawned and my whole face disappeared....

Think I hurt something....

Very nice day - rain on the way - maybe.  We are in the maybe time of the year - maybe rain maybe not.

Bradford pears have turned the whole city white and the forsythia, yellow.  Magnolias have bloomed and suffered their usual fate - the wind has blown them all over the neighborhoods.  They suffer the same fate each year - gets really warm, they bloom and then it frosts or wind blows 90 mph and usually both and they are gone before they can e enjoyed.  We are just too far north for them to be really pretty for more than a few minutes.

But it has been a pretty spring so far.

Hear Joe coming up the walk....I think.....wonder if he wants hot chocolate or chocolate milk...maybe I will taste the chocolate milk.......................sorry Joe - recommend the hot chocolate.........

And the May baskets I made, well......the baskets are left.....the candy seems to have disappeared and the flowers...well, they were accidently - well, don't they have some kind of chlorophyll in them which is good for you?  Blush [:I]

....Redbuds and Magnolias are showing their beauty for a week or so now....Very beautiful.  Wind and rain has taken it's toll on some of the Mag's but with the tulips, etc.....it is the very best beauty time of the year....

Now if I can just find my Humming birds...

54 degrees now and the sun is shaded by some clouds in the east.

Did get in another mowing yesterday.

We're starting to see some color here in the north country.  My tulips are up and starting to bloom, and some of the trees are starting to show some color.  It'll be later this month before we get really green, though.

Still cool, but I'm not complaining.

Railroad - NORAC for us.  New edition out this year.  Haven't read the new version through - it'll be interesting to see what specifically applies to us.  Rules regarding signals, for instance, while very important, are of little significance to us since we have none.

Good May Day morning all!!

After working the mail and BILLS after a long trip I am back to normal(?). Cool in AZ mountains for the next few days and dry. Send some of your midwest rain please.

Great news CW and to help you celebrate I shall have one of the BLT's on toast.
