Good morning-

It's a cold morning here in Sioux Falls, one source says we have 16 degrees here, and another source tells me we have 21 degrees, and our actual temp could be somewhere between these two figures. Our maximum temp will be 32 this afternoon, but at least there isn't any snow in our forecast.

My family will gather at my sister's house for Thanksgiving dinner on 11/27 and by my count, there will be 12 to 15 of us. My sister will have a turkey in the oven and our dinner will include turkey dressing with whipped potatoes and gravy, cranberries, Leffse, nut pudding, cinnamon bread and pumpkin pie.

When my folks were alive, we would all get together for good family fellowship and good food. I made a special effort, no matter where I was to get back home for it. I have fond memories of Thanksgivings past. Everybody have a good Sunday

.....Tom, I'm sure that tradition is true all over America....A very important day in the lives of families....!  Not much would prevent families from gathering together for that special day.  In my own personal life, I could just say.....your statement above is accurate for Thanksgivings in my life extending way back over 70 years ago.

I hope all families can enjoy the same again in this great country of ours  as the holiday approaches.

Good morning, all. 43 degrees and clear in Carolina at present. CW, thanks for breakfast. Is there any chance of fried shrimp and/or oysters, or oyster stew anytime? Thanks. Quentin, you are quite right about Thanksgiving. When my folks were alive, we would all get together for good family fellowship and good food. ......Our nice repeatable sunny weather has finally changed.  37 and overcast now but still, that's not too bad.

Veterans day is sneaking up on us and perhaps some churches will be talking about that subject in services this morning.  Ours generally does touch on that subject.

But what really counts is the upcoming Thanksgiving meal  occuring annually there this coming Wed.  The best turkey and unbleavable noodles and of course all the rest.  Each family to bring deserts, enough for them and that always produces an abundance of such.

The church ladies prepare all the rest.  Meal is held in the gym, a sizeable space and what a site with all the folks and food.....Anyone welcome.

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  Cool here in Louisville Metro this morning:  depending on your exact location, the current temp is 40 to 42 degrees.  And our high today is only get to 46.

Coffee is ready, as well as oj, oj/tangerine, pineapple and apple; also have the water hot for hot tea, and there's cider available also.

On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, pork sausage patties, tater tots, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, grits, oatmeal, toast.

Has anyone heard from Mookie the last several days?  Is she still working on getting her latest computer acquisition up and running?  Miss seeing her in here.  Mookie, got you coffee mug down, and ready, just in case you do make it in.

You all have a very good Sunday morning, dress warmly out there, and take care.

Good Saturday morning! Breakfast is served!

For breakfast this morning we have coffee, orange juice, cinnamon rolls which just came out of the oven, banana nut bread, made using a recipe that originally came from the Northern Pacific Railway, cream filled rolls and bear claws, and of course we also have buttermilk pancakes topped with pineapple and strawberries, waffles, hot maple syrup,  scrambled eggs, bacon and pork sausage links. Chef Enjoy!!

I saw my chiropractor yesterday morning, and I am doing a lot better, and was a lot more comfortable working my shift at Wendy's yesterday afternoon. I am not totally out of the woods yet, I still have two more appointments with my chiropractor ahead of me next week. I am not in constant pain and I guess that's a good thing.

I hope the rest of you out there all have a good day!

CNW 6000

That's the storm that's heading this way (sorta).  I hope we get some snow out of it.

What a great Friday so far...but I might not be back until Monday.  Misty and I are going down to Trainfest in Milwaukee so if I don't get back, have a great weekend everyone.

I think that one was/is part of the one that was supposed to give us our rain this weekend.

Looks like it's sort of fizzled out for now. (cooler temps though, highs in the 50s, not 70s.)

You guys have a good trip, Great weekend and be safe.

Ray, last time we heard and saw "No Travel" here; was 1994; and they (city/county)

Meant it!

You could get around here a lot faster walking if you could even walk in the

the "white stuff" that adorned our............

Would like to have some decent weather for tomorrow, but guess I'll have to

take what I/we get.

(one day of the year I actually get to do a few things. (generally))

(Railfanning would be nice!)

Howdy. At present, 67 degrees and clear in Carolina. Feel free to send some of that white stuff here if you wish. It would finally get rid of the pollen and moskeeters that currently plague us. Just don't overdo it. Several inches will do just fine. It looks like a nice weekend is in store for us, but wish it would cool down some so that the winter conditions for the wireless would kick in. Yall have a good weekend

Sounds like a good dinner!

Still rain in the forecast for the weekend.  Shouldn't be a major issue on the train as long as I don't have to spend too much time outside.  I've got plenty of indoor stuff I can do on Sunday.

Tuesday is Veterans Day, so I'm off work.  I'm thinking of trekking over to the George Eastman House in Rochester to take a look at their "Railroad" presentation.  They have one exhibition of Link, one of stuff from their collection (with photos by Plowden, Hine, Coburn, Jackson, and Freres), and one of video by Andrew Cross.  Might just be interesting!

I would like to sit there watching the squirrels, rabbits and birds. My girls chase them all off when they see them, so it is a moot point I guess. It is funny to see them chase a squirrel up a tree and then sit there guarding the tree long after the squirrel has long since snuck away.....

Tom, the entertainment value in watching the wild life near your home is well taken....Here joining our back yard is a local golf course and a mature line of trees lines up across the fairway....{left over from 45 years ago when it was a farm fence row....}, and it is a home for many squirrels.  Such agile ability is not seen in many living creatures.  They can jump from limb to limb and tree to tree with confidence as I would walk across the yard.  Their "play time"  action  almost defies gravity.  Their claws allow them to assend and decend a verticle branch like it has steps on it....

So any pups waiting for a squirrel that might have assended a tree will have a long wait if they think they will be coming down the same path.

Weather...Almost a broken record.....Clear skies and blazing sunshine.  Temps moderating again this morning.  High 50's and about to head into the 60's again.  What a string of such weather we've had.

Perhaps a bit of yard work again today.  Wind has settled and  we'll try to mow and mulch leaves.  The shorter grass then, allows the leaves to blow on thru...

I see the nasty stuff in the upper mid west...3 and 4' of snow, ugh....Thankfully not here yet.  Not even the rain last evening they were speaking of.

Best wishes to all for a good week end.  Just don't look at the financial programs on TV.....Terrible and getting worse....

I'm sitting here listening to my radio and it's been announced that I-90 from Mitchell, South Dakota (about 75 miles west of Sioux Falls) has been closed all the way out to the Wyoming border due to the snow storm out in the western end of this state, and our state highway authorities are advising "NO TRAVEL".

Good morning.....

It started snowing here last night, and so far we've gotten barely a half an inch. We have a snow advisory for later this afternoon and we could get another two inches of snow out of this system. Right now we have a temp of 32.5 degrees. The Black Hills of South Dakota and Rapid City, which is about 400 miles west of here, got hit much harder with a snow storm in the last 24 to 72 hours, with drifts 4 and 5 feet deep.

I will board a bus for my chiropractor's office in less than 3 hours, and for the most part right now I am doing O.K., but I still need to have some adjustments with my neck and shoulders. I went to bed last night at 7:00 and managed to sleep until 4:00 this morning. And I slept fairly well.

I will try to report back in later this afternoon. I hope the rest of you out there all have a good day.

Good Friday morning, everyone.  I hope you all had a very enjoyable evening.

Coffee, hot chocolate, hot water for tea, cider, and juices are ready.

Chocolate covered doughnuts, long johns w/cream filling, chocolate covered, cream filled doughnuts, apple danish, raspberry danish, peach danish, regular cake doughnuts, bagels, muffins and bear claws are on the counter.

Most of the 'rain' is east of us this morning.  If we got any overnight, it must have just been sprinkles, because street, sidewalks, are dry.  The morning paper wasn't even in a plastic bag this morning.

Mookie, your coffee mug is down and ready for you.  You all have a good day, and if anybody wants to join me, I'll be out in the garden, enjoying my coffee and a couple of cream filled long john doughnuts.
