Good morning all. 57 degrees and rain in Carolina at present. Ray, I feel better at present, with much of the pain gone, but enough remains to take pill or something from time to time. Thanks for caring. Yall have a good day, and remember the diner discount if you show your I HAVE VOTED sticker.

Nice day so far here - already 50 at 9AM.
As Carl points out at the lounge and CW mentioned above, get out and vote. I was #17 at my polling place this morning.
Then we can find out what the winners are really made of....
Bearclaw and tea. I'll be in the corner looking over EO26 again.

Good morning!
CW, thanks much for serving breakfast. I think I'll pour myself a cup of coffee and grab a bear claw while I am here.
We have 40 degrees right now here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and it is supposed to warm up here to about 74 later this afternoon. But our weather here is supposed to change dramatically in the next several hours, with thunderstorms by tomorrow morning and a good possibilty of snow on Friday. I reckon I'd better enjoy our nice weather while I still can.
Was Tom in at all yesterday? I kind of wonder how he's doing.
Ray ooo ooo ooOOOOOo
Good Tuesday morning, folks. Well, I've gotten everything cleaned up from last night, and have things under way for breakfast.
Coffee's just about finished brewing, fresh juices ready, along with hot chocolate, hot water for tea, and hot apple cider.
On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning: hot cinnamon rolls, bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, pork sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, and you choice of hash browns or tater tots.
Temps supposed to get up between 78 and 80 today. Should be a very good day.
You all enjoy your breakfast, and have a good day!
Since we've had such a beautiful, warm day, I have been outside on the patio grilling for tonight's supper menu. Now on the warmer bar:
1. Steaks: rib eyes and T-bones
2. pork chops
3. Hamburgers, and cheeseburgers
4. Brats
5. Hot dogs
Side dishes to go with the meats: pork n beans, cole slaw, macaroni & cheese, steak fries
*SPECIAL NOTE: I know we don't discuss politics on here, but a reminder for all of us to be sure to go vote tomorrow.
REMEMBER THE OLD SAYING: "IF YOU DON'T VOTE, DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT ABOUT HOW THE ELECTION TURNS OUT!"
Modelcar Gasoline does get "old"....It might be usable if still in the container but one should use an agent like "Stabl"...{not sure of spelling}, to prevent gumming in the carb. on small engines like Lawn tractors, etc.....Recommended to be added to fuel in the machines gas tank before shut down for the Winter season. Years ago I remember I had trouble starting my Wheel Horse tractor and ever since I simply add the above mentioned product before I shut down for the winter and the unit {I have now}, will start right up in the Spring.

Quentin,
It's Stabil, IIRC. Way back when, when I worked on generators, it was almost a sure thing that I'd get a few small ones every summer that had gummed up carbs because they'd been sitting for awhile with no Stabil in them. It wasn't too bad to clean them up -- it just took awhile. Needless to say, they always bought some Stabil on their way out the door. It was a lot cheaper than having to pay for two hours of labor!

Had to miss breakfast this morning anyway. Seems that with all the talk from my South Carolina connection (Thanks Grandpaw) I have to get the annual physical. That means nothing to eat for 12 hours and nothing to drink for 8. Three hours of being hungry and dry to go before the occasion.
In short, guys get the annual check up, I am told we live longer when we (us guys) go through the procedure.
I hope that lunch is a great one, I really look forward to it today,
Take care,
PL
giggle - CW - a 2nd honeymoon with Mutt in the closet? How romantic! Amongst the cleaning supplies, brooms, mops and toilet paper! Sigh!
I have a puter and a phone book - so will do some checking on how to get rid of the gasoline. It is about 2 years old, so don't want to risk it on the snowblower. And I am dangerous with a telephone - who knows - I may end up being able to get rid of our hazardous material and the barking dog next door all at the same time. Will tell them he is "hazardous" - to my ears!
To add to our "yard pets" - we have a hawk of some kind that is hanging around our back yard. He managed to "get" a pigeon one day and almost got a squirrel yesterday. He didn't see the driver standing about 15 feet from the squirrel, so swooped in and scared the goobers out of both of them.
I rather like having a hawk in the neighborhood - means we have a healthy environment in our area. He will keep down the meeses as well as the "pet population". Come to think of it - I didn't hear the dog last nite or this morning -
Never fear - hawk isn't that big and dog sounds quite large. Maybe my yelling at him to be quiet reached his owner's ears? Naw - he and his mouf will be back too soon!
End of blog. Time to snack!

tree68 Unless there's something special about it (ie, 2 cycle) or it's just really old (gas does eventually lose some punch), the gas should still work - check with a neighbor? Otherwise check with your FD or local waste disposal folks for how to handle it. Some places do have a household hazmat disposal program.

70 is our projected high for today and tomorrow...absolutely disgusting! Especially for November. Anyone want these 70's? You can have 'em!
Thanks for breakfast CW. I caught two long trains yesterday near North Fond du Lac. B768 (potash train) and Q198 (intermodal/stack) seemed to average around 10-12k' long!
Dan
tree68I wonder if my coach key will open the closet door.
Thank you, Larry for the effort. Unfortunately, the key didn't work, and we still had to wait for the locksmith to open it up this morning. Sheesh!! What a 24 hours. Glad it's over with!!!!Maybe next time, we need a sign put up that says, "BEWARE OF LOCKED DOORS!"
Guess instead of 'breakfast', we'll have brunch instead. On the warmer bar:
bacon, sausage, eggs, country fried pork chops, fried taters, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, cantaloupe, sliced tomatoes, bagels, bear claws, and whatever else you want.
You all have a good morning, and a great afternoon. We're supposed to get up into the mid 70s. Currently have 51 degrees showing on our thermometer.
morning
we have some grumbles of thunder and sprinkles outside now.after that going to be a nice day.matt and I are going down with my sister to my Dads.My oldest brother is coming from virginia.yesterday I was ready to join the circus train as I was joe the plumber and joe the mechanic but they are supposedly coming through today on CSX. Tree: While you are available - we have some snoblower gasoline that the Driver wants to dispose. What or who should be contact? Do we have to go through the hazardous waste part of the county or can the fire dept help us out on this? About a gallon.
Mook
Found some leftover barbequed chicken in the freezer. MMMMMMM!
Took in the CNYRHS train show in Syracuse yesterday, then worked a murder mystery train last night. Rode up to the restaurant on the engine (an F). Haven't done any over-the-road on either of our F's up until then. Nice ride. I still don't know whodunnit.
Nice sunny day today, if cool. Mowed the lawn one last time, then put the mower away and got out the snow blower. Still have to pull the pull cord on it, but the electric start works...
I wonder if my coach key will open the closet door.
Nice fall day. Nov 2nd and 78 degrees with warm sun and low humidity. Is this possible in the true midwest?
Spent the day out frolicking in the leaves.
Ok - we went to the bookstore and had some coffee and then watched a couple of trains. But there were leaves around us.
CW & Mutt accidently got themselves locked in the diner closet and can't get out. We have the locksmith on his way to try and get the lock undone. So dinner will be whatever you can cook or order in. Don't look at me....I'm busy checking my eyelids for holes in the corner.
Good afternoon everybody. It has made it up to 73 this afternoon in Carolina, but as darkness begins to fall, things will drop off quite rapidly. Yall stay warm and safe.
My "inner" clock got me up this morning at 4:30, and the clock on my livingroom wall was still showing 5:30. I am up, being that I am unable to sleep beyond that point.
Joe, thanks for fixing breakfast for the rest of us. I think I'll grab some pancakes, bacon and eggs while I am in here. Gotta get ready to go into work for my other part-time employer, which I do not mind doing.
The December issue of Trains arrived in my mail on Friday and the piece about the Canadian Pacific Railway fighting snowstorms in in the Canadian Rockies looks interesting, and I will probably settle down to read it tonight.
I hope the rest of you folks out there all have a good day!
"There was a time in this fair land when the railroad did not run, when the wild majestic mountains stood alone against the sun, long before the white man and long before the wheel, when the green, dark forest was too silent to be real." -Gordon Lightfoot
.....53 degrees now and looks like a really nice day shaping up....
But boy it will get dark early this evening. Not used to that. And darker, earlier each day until about the 15th of December when we turn that around with a later sunset....
Halloween over now and didn't see any evidence that we even had the holiday in this neighborhood. {Except some displays in windows, etc.}
good morning
juice coffee and hot chocolate are ready ready to go.Pancakes and bacon and eggs will be ready soon.Defiance bowed out of the playoffs last night. Will be getting Matt ready for sunday school in awhile.

CANADIANPACIFIC2816I've looked at the menu for tonight's pizza fest which CW had posted earlier. Can someone tell this ignorant guy from South Dakota just what the heck a "calzone" is?? Many Thanks! Now I think I'll grab a couple slices of the Hawaiian pizza while I am in here. I just got home from work and I am starving! Ray ooo ooo ooOOOOOo

Okay, seems this "New Forum" format doesn't recognize passwords that
have been used for about 5 years;
took me awhile to log on due to what I just mentioned.
Ray; a Calzone is: "a baked or fried turnover of pizza dough stuffed with
various fillings, usually including cheese".
Everybody; Please check your Smoke Detector this evening before you go to bed.
Replace batteries if you need too, put a detector up if you don't have one.
If you don't have a smoke detector, you might not wind up enjoying that extra hour
of sleep; instead of just the extra hour, it might become permanent.
(don't forget to set your watches and clocks back an hour also!)
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!
Cw thanks for the pizza tonight.we had a good trip and found what we needed in Ft.Wayne.We watched in Garrett as they put the Q388 together. They met the Q135 at the ohio/indiana line. Also Mookie BNSF is getting 3 more new units.they were on the q 381.Going to help mamma with chores.
Guess it's about time for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest. On tonight's menu:
1. Anchovie
2. Cheese w/extra cheese
3. Chicago style
4. Goetta
5. Hawaiian
6. Pepperoni/mushroom
7. Supreme
8. Calzones
There are three extra large of each of the 7 pizzas, and about 2 dozen calzones. So there should be enough of everything for everyone.
You all enjoy your pizzas, have a great evening, and DON'T FORGET TO SET YOUR CLOCKS BACK ONE HOUR, AND CHECK/CHANGE YOUR SMOKE DETECTOR BATTERIES!!!!!

cherokee woman Good Saturday morning, everyone. Sun is coming up, looks like it's going to be a very good day today! Tom, I hope you are doing a little better this morning. I know you are very tired of having those headaches, and hope they can find a way to not only relieve them, but find out what is causing them. I'll be praying for you, Buddy! Get better soon!!!! Had kind of a rough night, so didn't wake up until after 7:30 this morning.
