Joe, nope, I didn't talk with Mamma.  But, I guess our minds were working on the same track today.

Mookie, congrats to you and the rest of the family!  You'll have to keep us updated on this wonderful event.

It almost 10 p.m., and I'm going to get ready to head to beddy-bye.  Everyone take care, have a good night, and see you tomorrow.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Not too bad out this morning.  Stepped out on the porch for the newspaper, and talked a moment with my neighbor across the street.  She was just coming in.  Temp is ranging between 30 and 34 degrees this morning, and the wind seems to be calm.  Not supposed to be too bad of a day, but I can't remember what our high is supposed to get to.  I think in the upper 40s to low 50s.

Coffee, hot chocolate, hot cider, juices and hot water for tea are ready.

On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, tater tots, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, bagels and bear claws.

Well, I see the sisters are in their car, waiting for Tuesday Produce.  The past few weeks, haven't had too many people showing up on Tuesdays, but I imagine it'll pick back up some today.

You all enjoy breakfast, and have a very good morning, and take care.  See you all later, after Produce.

Good morning Paula and thanks for breakfast. A hearty Mazl Tov to Jen on the great news. She should throw a barbecue or pig pickin at her place for us to celebrate! Currently clear and 43 degrees in Carolina, supposed to top out at 68 today. I have to take the girls to the poodle parlor and get them gussied up for the new year, so I will try to take care of some other business while I am out. Who knows, mebbe I can catch something on the A-line. Everybody stay warm and safe

Good morning, it's cloudy here in Sioux Falls and we have a temp of 34 degrees. I don't know for sure what the weather forcast for this area will hold for today. CW, thanks for serving breakfast. I have the day off and I am planning on spending most of my fee time just cleaning house. I am also waiting for a tree trimming service to drop by and give me an estimate on trimming a tree out on my parking strip, which the City of Sioux Falls is insisting that I have it trimmed, and if I don't have it trimmed by a certain deadline, the City is telling me they will trim it and bill me at a cost of $150.00 per hour!

Morning everyone.

We're supposed to get 4-6" of white sunshine today.  How exciting...glad I got the snow blower fixed.  Enough with that already...here's an update on Misty and baby 'Sprout':

Sun shining brightly...{as bright as it can in late Dec.}, being so low in the sky....but it sure looks nice.  32 degrees currently and looks like it will be a pretty good weather day.   We're heading the right direction now...have gained about 9 min. of daylight here in the evening with the later sun sets.

A heavy dusting of snow overnight, although it looks like the lake effect is kicking in for some areas to the south of me.

CNW - Ultrasounds have certainly changed how we experience pregnancy now.  Before it was just kicks and such - now we can see detailed pictures and find out well ahead of time that (as my daughter and SIL announced to us at Christmas) it's a boy!

My cold seems to be getting better.  Kinda put a damper on Christmas, although we still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Looking like a trip to Rochester and the Eastman House Museum on Friday to check out the railroad exhibition there.

Good morning from a not so windy London---we had a windy night-up to 80kmh(50mph). Today we are expecting a high of -5C with about 10cm of partly cloudy tonight with another 7cm tomorrow. Now we can build up the cover after the big melt which gave people headaches what with roads closed and flooded basements et cetara...hopefully we are going to see a more quieter pattern---?Whistling

Good morning, y'all. CW, as usual, your breakfast looks good. Now, if you could come up with some homemade buttermilk (the kind with flecks of butter in it which you strain out with your teeth), you would have something I haven't had in maybe fifty years. When I was young, we would buy it from a man who came by in his old Chevrolet (about a 1928 model).

We were down to the low twenties this morning, and expect it to rise into the thirties. The sun is shining (I couldn't open the living room curtain because the sun would have been in my wife's face after it came up over the Wasatch).

Yes, Mookie, congratulations. Do you find yourself wishing you had had your grandchildren first?

It is so sunny here in the puter room, I need my sunshine shades!

Johnny - Grandchildren are a whole lot easier to raise.  Didn't seem to take up as much of my energy!  And since my parents are still living - there will be 5 generations.

Barry - seems like north of us has had more winter than usual.  It usually comes from your country and then drops right down on us - but it hasn't come this far south as much as normal.  Ordering some palm trees just in case.

Dan - awwwww - it's a bebe....(doesn't have much hair either!)

Joe - Blush Color me curious.  And enjoy your vacation time!  I am enjoying The Driver's time off.  Right now I am getting a basement cleaning - for free!  Approve

Tree - how did you do that?  You had a boy and a girl and now 2nd generation.  (maybe this is best not discussed in mixed company!)

Heard Amtrak heading west - late - about 2 hours or so.  Then BNSF shipped a lot of noisy trains out from 3-7 a.m.  Even heard one going down the Amtrak line.  Yeah, I know - I am good but how do I know that from a dark bedroom?

Amtrak runs on a line that cuts on a diagonal across city.  It also has the most xings in town.  So when a train runs on that line, they have to whistle about every 2-3 blocks.  If it is doing an inordinate amount of whistling and is close to the south side of the house, I know it is the Amtrak line.

Amtrak has (usually) an odd whistle - different from anything else I hear.  They creep into town but with all that whistling, you would think they were doing 100 mph.

Had an Amtrak article in paper - Utah traveler (male) got into Lincoln at 5:30ish A.M. - had to wait for ride coming from 40 miles away.  Station agent made him leave depot at 6:30 A.M. so they could lock up - and since sidewalks were covered in ice and snow and coffee shop was 2 blocks away, he stood outside for 30 min or so in dark and cold and with suitcases.

Was it so important that the agent couldn't let the man stay inside somewhere warm until his ride arrived?  Is it mandatory that Amtrak close up shop at a certain time and not extend any kind of hospitality to vistors to our city and their customersBlack Eye

There's another question for you, Joe!

Must find something hot - like big mug of coffee.....

Mookie, here's you a nice, freshly made mug of coffee!  You timed that right, didn't you?

Dan, nice looking ultrasound picture!!  When is Misty due?  (Forgot, and too many pages to back to, to find that info.)

If I still lived on a farm, I'd sure be making my own buttermilk!  I'm the only one here who drinks buttermilk, and I'd probably go through it like crazy, between drinking it, pouring it over crumbled cornbread, and using it for baking!  Hmmm, maybe I'll make and bake a buttermilk pie or two this afternoon.

On to our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta:

1.  Tacos (soft shell and hard shell)

2.  Burritos (beef, beef & bean, bean, and beef burrito enchilada style)

3.  Chimichangas

4.  Enchiladas

5.  Quesadillas

6.  Cheesy beef nachos

7.  Spanish Rice

And, creamy mango dessert  and frozen Cinco De Mayo

Think our temp is currently in the upper 40s, and we're to get in the mid 50s this afternoon.  Doesn't feel too bad outside!  Very nice, with plenty of sunshine.

Everyone enjoy, have a great afternoon, and take care!

Congrats Dan! Mookie I can answer your 2 questions.Warehouse is extra full.bean counters need more time to count this week for inventory.About amtrak sometimes the station person covers more than one amshak. The one here in Bryan also covers the one in waterloo indiana. We had to wait for ns trains before we got to the waterloo station.a guy called on his cell phone and was picked up at a crossing just outside of town by his buddy.

Ms Mook - It's the luck of the draw.  Boy (well, boy's wife) had girl, now girl is having boy.

Regardless of whether Owen had been a boy or a girl, he was going to be a basketball player (both mom and dad played) and a Red Sox fan (per dad).

Whether other grandchildren will ensue has yet to be decided.  DIL is 27, so certainly young enough.  Daughter is currently pushing the line at 33.  A three year gap would mean she'd deliver at 36, which is starting to get "old" as childbirth goes, and tends to garner special attention from the doc.

Regardless.  I'm taking my grandparent job (spoiling the grandkids) to heart, although the tap on the diaper and stern "NO" granddaughter got from me the other day when she wouldn't leave a plastic wrapper alone wasn't a real popular thing with her....

Good evenin' to all of you---We are supposed to be having some more stuff tonight and tomorrow---enough to make out of town trips I've got do interesting---Grumpy

Mookie; In Woodstock--my hometown not far from here---the CP lines come from the NE side and sweep down through the western edge to parallel the CN lines which cut through the middle of town---the horns, when they blow can be heard all over the city and you can pick out exactly where the train is---when there are more than one it is like they are talking to each other as the sound just echos back and forth. I love it when you can hear them really clearly---we still can use the horns here ----so farWhistling---as to trains stopping to pick people up it has happened only a few times

Tacos do smell good!

Barry - I couldn't stand it if I couldn't hear the trains any more.  We always had several different railroads in, around and straight thru the middle of town many years ago, so you always had the sound.  Lot less now, but with BNSF running a lot more trains, it still can get very noisy.

Like your cat picture - had one just like that many years back.  He was so mellow, daughter used to put him in doll clothes and then in her doll buggy and cart him around the neighborhood.  Hobo - great cat.

Joe - Nebraska - Gator Bowl - noon on Thursday.....should be a good game.....Cowboy

Mookie; That is our 'Spring' cat---he 'springs' everywhere, in our xmas tree, up bookcases, on my layout, then makes off with my sw1200's and hides them on me---headbutts me and the laptop---curls up in my arms while I am still trying to type on this---kind of hard typing while he is headbutting you but it can be done

About the horn business---how many places are going anti-train horn down there? I know for a while we seemed to have a spate of that here but gave up because people didn't here the engines much---now that they seem to be quieter---modulo where we live right now we can hear the turbos kick in as the train comes into London from the west via Komoka's hills---at a 2.2% incline---lots of fun---

Good Wednesday morning, Joe:  see you beat me in this morning.  That's not been too hard for anyone to do, lately.  Thank you very much for the coffee, juice and cinnamon rolls.  Nice way to end the year.

Going to be firing up the grill around 10 or so, and we'll celebrate Houston Ed's birthday with steak, 'baked' potatoes on the grill, along with some other goodies.  And speaking of Ed:  Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Houston Ed.

......To our great surprise, opening a mini blind and looking out from bedroom at 7  this morining we had about 1" of snow on the ground and eveything else....Further checking, it was still snowing and then a puff of wind would blow it off house roofs like it was dry power.  So really dry light stuff.  First snow we've had here since Dec. 16th we had a "skiff" of it.

But a surprise it was and checking weather maps, found it was just an extension of lake effect snow clear down into our central Indiana area....Very rare it does so.  Lake effect snows generally do not get this far south in Indiana.

Temp in upper 20's now and since skies have brightened and even some sunshine in the past several hours.

This is it.....The last of 08'.....Lets hope we see some improvement start in 09'.....From what I can hear, I believe we will.

Best to everyone and did I see Ed with another birthday....If so, best wishes to you Ed.  Staying in as Ed mentioned, seems like a good plan tonight.

It's been dusting snow here since last night.  No major accumulations - just enough to keep things interesting.  I think the folks south of us are getting some lake effect.  I'm not headed that way until Sunday, so, who cares?

Ed - Happy Birthday!  You're of an age with my sister, who gets her AARP application this coming February.  She lives in MC territory.

I'm just hanging around the house tonight, in case some of the "amateurs" get themselves in trouble on the roads.  Gotta get some stuff in town, and I'm leaving work early, so I'll go get Mom and we'll figure out something "special" for supper.

Good morning and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ed. Sounds like you are preparing a new years blowout with all the stuff you bought. I had to take the girls for their annual checkup this morning, and they checked out OK. My nephew and another guy are cleaning the field in front of the house, thanks be to G-D and at last, it will be done after a years worth of trying to get someone. That is the field that the miscreant hid in during the manhunt excitement a month or so back. 55 degrees and sunshine in Carolina, on the way to 58. Everybody stay safe
