Actually a little above freezing here, but snow is falling.  Will fire up the snow blower in about an hour and hope we won't get much more after that.  If anybody is missing a white Christmas let me know.  Pay the freight and I'll ship out a couple of truckloads.

Thanks for the offer, Jay; but, I think I'll pass on you sending us some snow.  Know we'll more than likely get it anyway, sometime.  I think I'll just take the pouring rain we're getting at times today.

I've put out some things for lunch:  open-face  turkey sandwiches w/turkey gravy and mashed taters, green beans, corn and salad.  And there's some fresh Christmas cookies that I just took out of the oven, for dessert.

I'm wondering how many of you will be around here tomorrow.  If there's going to be a few of you around, I'll take a roast and a goose out of the freezer to fix in the morning for Christmas Dinner.

Just let me know, so I can plan a menu this afternoon, o.k.? (I know a lot of you all will be spending the day with family, and I don't want to take away from that:  maybe I'll just fix some pizzas for tomorrow night.)

CW, you don't need to go to any extreme lengths to feed us, but your efforts are very much appreciated! Pizza tonight would suit me just fine!

I myself, have been quite busy in my own kitchen since 4:00 this morning, baking bread. I've got loaves #11 & 12 in the oven right now, and all of the 12 loaves of bread that I will have produced in the last two days will have gone to people at one of my part-time employers, Howes Oil Company. Chef And you can bet that my house smells real good right now, you would be able to smell my bread out on the porch even before you enter the house!

I got my Christmas Cards out and got all ready to address them - and then found out that there are waaaayyy too many people on the forum to send them to - so I boxed them back up and put them away.

Instead I will just say have a safe and Merry Christmas

Attendance will be taken after Christmas to make sure everyone is ok.

The sun is shining here and some of the snow is melting (with help) so, this too shall pass.

Mookie, you disappoint me! Sad I was expecting a Christmas card from you!! Actually kid, you should not feel bad about it. As much as I would love to send Christmas cards to a lot of people this year, and I like to do it MY way, it is an expense that I can not afford right now, and the postage alone would cost me an arm and a leg! And other than Mutt and CW, I don't have mailing addresses for anyone in these forums.....but maybe next year.......

Ray - this is so much better - no trees lost, no stamps, almost no effort and yet you can get the point across In Color!

Jay - I will pay the freight and you keep the merchandise!

Chad - we are entertaining tomorrow - I invited a pork roast and a jar of sauerkraut to visit.  We will have a very quiet time with them.  Thumbs Up

AND - the best part of all - the sun may shine enough and it may warm up enough to go trackside for awhile.  You can't beat that with a big ol' stick!

Life is good!

I just pulled up a web site on here to refresh memory:  How to carve a turkey.  So as not to butcher it too bad.  Meijer's, the large chain store has cooked it for us and provided a {kit}, of trimmings to go along with it all for a decent price.  We've done this before and it worked out fine.

Skies here have cleared somewhat of rain and now just partly cloudy.  A big blow of wind passed thru here an hour or so ago which must have been a leading edge of a front.  Looks like we are going to dry out.  Temp now at 37.6.

Everyone enjoy the special evening out there in forum land.

My holiday cards (too late to call them Christmas cards) got mailed this afternoon.

First Christmas with granddaughter tomorrow, and I think we're all finding out whether daughter and SIL are having a boy or a girl....

50's and breezy on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay tonight   Looks like they had rain all day at home.   We'll have to see what the rain gauge says when I get home.

Checked the NORAD site and Santa is already in the air.

Everyone enjoy!

That's Funny mentioning a goose. I'm doing right now what I do every year on Christmas Eve. That's watch "The Christmas Story" on TBS. At the end where they have the duck and the Chinese guys can't sing Deck the Halls is hilarious.

CW, that goose won't be smiling at me will it. lol

Good Thursday morning, and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OUR FRIENDS (who we consider family, even though some of you we haven't met)!!

Welcome back, Brian (louisnash)!!  You need to come in more often!  And no, the goose won't be staring at anyone.

Woke up at 5:00 this morning, so decided to go ahead and get up out of bed.

Coffee, hot chocolate, orange juice, and pineapple juice, hot cider, chocolate milk, strawberry milk, and hot water for tea are all ready, for when you all come in.

I've put out some cinnamon rolls (thanks, Ray!), muffins, bagels, bear claws on the counter, so help yourselves this morning.

The pork roast w/potatoes, carrots & onion is in the Crock Pot, and the goose will go into the oven about 11 so it will be ready when the roast is done.

Once again, wishing everyone a Very Merry & Joyous Christmas!!

Marry CHRISTmas everybody. Thanks for breakfast. I'm looking forward to that goose. Those things can be a chore to clean! When I was a child, my father saw one fly into the side of a truck and break its neck. He brought it home, and the three of us cleaned that bird till after 2AM. When done, we had enough feathers and down to fill a cotton bale. He said if he ever saw another one do that, he was going to leave it there in the road.... Everybody enjoy this Holy day, eat well and stay warm

....Clear skies here in central Indiana this morning....and the sun is blazing in my eastern window now.   But the instrument says it's only 16 degrees now and the trees are calm so must be the wind.  No snow, and roads are dry.  We're in for a bit of a warm up next few days.

Everyone enjoy this special Day.....Yes, Tom.....CHRISTmas day....!

Merry Christmas to you all .

Goose! The only time I ate goose was when I visited my college at Thanksgiving 1961. My German instructor and his wife (also German) invited me to eat dinner with them, and she served goose. I now know what goosegrease is; I had never before eated such greasy meat.

It's about thirty degrees here, with snow coming in from the south. We expect much more today, but we will go to church this morning, and after church we plan to eat dinner with a daughter who lives in a hilly section of Salt Lake City before coming back home.

Good Morning! Merry Christmas!

Woke up this morning to some sun between the clouds, a few flurries and no running water!

Apparently some genius ran over a fire hydrant last night and well, the water company guys are on double overtime today. At least it is back on now. Oh well, brown water for a little while longer I guess.

Luckily the kids and Momma are distracted by the electronics. Santa brought the "Wii fit" and "Guitar Hero World Edition" so it will be a noisy day even before the 15 other family members arrive at noon...Sigh.

Anyway, it will be good to see the smiling faces and the big beef roast looks good...

The weather today has not been as bad as was predicted. It was snowing when we left for church (eleven and a half miles), and it had stopped before we got into Salt Lake City. We had no more snow by the time we got back home, and the temperature was up in the forties (at four p.m.). We'll have roast beef, baked potatoes, and artichokes for supper tonight.  More snow is predicted for tomorrow, with a low in the twenties; we'll see.

I still remember, with horror, Christmas about twenty-five years ago, when it snowed every day for three weeks, and this was pre-snow thrower time for me. A man down the street used his front-end loader to scoop snow away from the curb at each house so that it would be possible to park in the street if necessary. The following February, I left for work one afternoon about three, leaving the driveway clear. When I returned home about 12:30, I took eleven inches out of the driveway before parking for the night.

Well, I seem to have survived the afternoon at Sis-in-law's place relatively intact. I had a nice ride down there with the wife doing the driving. We had a nice meal of fried turkey, dressing with giblets, and a half dozen or so special homemade recipes. Then, coming home we stopped for supper at a well known national truck stop chain and got totally grossed out. The food was terrible and most was left on the plate. To add insult to injury, their credit card machine was off line, so our usual payment option was out. We then tried to pay with a check. Guess what! They don't accept checks. The wife and I finally pooled our resources and found we had just enough cash together to pay for whatever it was we tried to eat. My wallet is completely empty and the wife only has change left in hers, and I doubt we will frequent that particular place too often. Anyway, it was an interesting experience.

Everybody take, have a good Boxing Day and stay warm

You make me think of a place just off the intertstate between Augusta and Columbia. We were going from Beaufort to Lancaster (I grew up ten miles south of Lancaster) this past April, and were looking for a place to eat lunch. We saw a sign that advertised a place to eat at a certain exit, and we tried it. The service was slow, and the meal was not particularly good. If we are ever driving in the area again, we will avoid it. On the same trip, we stopped in Marianna, Arkansas, for lunch at place that had a sign or two along the way (we have often dined well by noting such signs). The cafe did not accept credit cards, but I did have enough cash. I considered, but did not, telling the people that they could give lessons to a certain place in South Carolina.

The second snowstorm of today is now here.

You, too, enjoy Boxing Day.

you can send a private to either me or CW.

Who knows, might become a Cafe regular. Have to talk to the Chefabout that.
