I'll bet the truck driver was saying something like "I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN...WHOOPS...I KNOW I CAN'T!"
Dan, that's one of the reasons we don't go out together much; she gets lost in crowds!
(I'm 5'10")
Do we need to put out an A.P.B. for Mookie?, or is she M.I.A. or P.O.W.
(although I'm finding her rocker quite comfortable!!)
Joe, thankfully we don't have that situation here; but are there "goal nets" on your drive?
I could borrow one of Sarah's hockey sticks and see if Matt wants a game.

our driveway is an ice rink along with some intersections around us.we did make it to our polling place to vote this morning.put the trash out and the clouds were going back west which isn't a good sign.weather guessers say we could have some ice to go with some snow later on.going to take a nap then do some chores later.
stay safe

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
We set a new record high yesterday at 58. Today we pay for it, with a winter storm warning containing freezing rain, sleet, snow, and who know what else. The ice issue is expected to be significant - branches and wires down, etc.
Gotta pick up some milk and I'm good. If things are too bad, I'll be at the fire station anyhow.
Bearclaw and tea.

Dan, guess it's because I'm only 4 ft. 6 in, and 128 lbs. I'm easy to (under )overlook. I'm always being told "I didn't see you there!"
Our current temp is about 41 out, and very breezy. Guess I'd better wear my heavy coat to do Produce this morning. Going to be a nice day to stay inside and start on spring cleaning after I get back from Produce Tuesday. Do you all want this to be Mexican Fiesta Day, Pizza Day, or something else?
A balmy 7 above as I come in today. I'll take some juice and bagels with the fixin's for now. Time to lurk...
How'd I miss you again CW? The kitchen ain't that big, lol.
Dan
Good Tuesday morning, eveyrone. Hope you all had a very good night, and are ready to start a brand new day. We're still getting rain here, although they have cancelled the flood watch for our area.
Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot tea are all ready, and on the warmer bar this morning: turkey bacon, oatmeal (peaches & cream), toast. Figured with all the rain and or snow some of us are getting, they's like a hot, stick to your ribs breakfast this morning.
Checking attendance this morning: where are Mookie, mudchicken, Larry, Tom, Joe, and everyone else? (I have talked to Duff. They are all doing well. She has been extremely busy with little Sadie, and hasn't been able to get online much. )
Larry, for you all, and that area, I would expect that to be an important number this
time of year. We managed to make it to 70 today, but tomorrow's highs are supposed
to be in the mid 40s.
Shirt sleeves one day, jackets the next. Even the Weather Forecasters are complaining
about their wardrobes!!
Yeah, take it when you can get it, one day at a time; sure beats the alternative!!
55!
May not seem like an important number to some of you, but when it was 15 below less than a week ago, 55 degrees is like a day on a tropical island. Never mind that it's mounds of snow, not sand dunes.
Considering that I talked to our weather guys at the airfield a little while ago and they told me that Wednesday wasn't going to be pretty, I'll take what I can get!
afternoon
the snow is mostly gone now.matthew came home from school with a trivia paper for the family to fill out.one of the questions I had a brain cramp on.Matt says"dad maybe you should go to the doctor."Cw thanks for supper.
Yep, been following that one on the Yahoo groups, and the local media had a video report on it as well. It actually happened last Wednesday, the 27th. Speculation suggests that ice derailed it- they were running slug-first down a seldom-traveled spur that was covered pretty deep. In fact, it was cleaned up before the weekend was over.

Brian, that sounds like lousy weather for cleaning up a derailment. Did you hear about CRANDIC's accident down in Hills on Sat. afternoon? This was on the shortline/industrial Yahoo group.
Iowa City train derailment caused by snow, ice on tracksMonday, March 03, 2008; IOWA CITY - (The Gazette - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services) -- A buildup of ice and snow on the tracks caused yesterday's derailment of a Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway train, Alliant Energy spokesman Ryan Stensland said today. The train was pulling 12 cars loaded with salt. A locomotive slug and one salt car left the tracks about 4:30 p.m. near Old Highway 218 and Izaak Walton Road, south of Iowa City. No injuries were reported. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Hills Fire Department are assisting today in the cleanup of a small fuel spill, Stensland said. The train is expected to be rerailed today. He added Riverside traffic could be affected by the process. Jeff Woods, marketing manager of the CRANDIC railway, said the next step will be to repair the tracks after the train is rerailed. "Service will resume after the track is fixed," he said. "Hopefully, that will be by the end of tomorrow."
Well, I finally made it home from doctor's office. Had the usual blood works and lab; don't have to see him again until June. Been home about 45 minutes, and looks like I made it home just in time. Wind is blowing even more, and it's gotten very cloudy out. Current temp is 68.5 degrees F.
The chicken and pork chops are on the warmer bar, along with the various veggies (mashed taters, green beans, broccoli w/cheese sauce, corn and hominy for those who like hominy.
Brian and all others in the midwest, hope the weather improves for you. Just two more weeks until the official start of spring.
Where's the resident Feline? Is she still being "Seminarized?!?!
Q, that front must be coming through here now also, had to be out earlier, and after
going out, wished that I had put a few extra rocks in my pockets to weigh me down due to the wind.
We're supposed to get that rain, and they are talking about the possibility of flooding here.
(don't think we'll have any problem here, unless it gets to/over 1937 levels)
Lets Not talk about cutting grass.....yet......!
Jim, (eolafan) hope you Don't have anymore problems with that, and that you will
continue to be well.
....Transition month is sure evident here today. Snow is totally melted and it's warm and windy. The weather front is approaching and making it windy. Understand we'll see rain, plenty of it later today. They are saying up to 3" of the stuff.
Flooding is also normal for Indiana and it's being talked about re: this approaching system. Right here, at our location, that's not too much concern. Sure wind always is, as this is a place that can cause trouble. And transition month can produce anything.
And to think I'll be mowing the yard yet this month.....!! That is, if all happens normal weather wise.

Good Monday morning! Looks like the door finally opend for me to get in here! Chris, glad to see you back. Hope you'll be able to drop in more often. Joe, thanks for fixing breakfast, and everything this morning. For the last few days, seems like I have trouble getting in this place in the mornings.
Getting ready to go for my regular doctor appointment (scheduled for 10:30 EST), so I've put the Crock Pots on with the leftovers from yesterday evening. It'll probably be at least 11:30, before I even called to the back, so no telling what time I'll get home.
Dale, there's always at least four apple pies around, so there should always be some available for you all. If you don't see one in the pie cooler, just check the freezer, and set one out on the counter to thaw. That goes for anyone else, who see any of the desserts are missing from the pie cooler!
You all have a good morning, and I'll see you sometime this afternoon!

Joe, wonder how the Circus Animals would feel if they did pick those people up?
Although, it might benefit CSX, they could use that "Hot Air" to do those welds
instead of wasting other energy!!
Weather Guessers have revised our forecast, instead of tomorrow, we're supposed to
get some of that stuff starting late this afternoon. As you said; "Batten down the Hatches!"
CW will probably be in a bit, seems the last several days when she trys to open the
door here at the Cafe she can't get in. (early) (Forum maintainance?)

Uncle Pete was out to get me, too. I took a drive up Coal Creek Canyon after I saw a westbound manifest at Blue Mountain Rd. headed up the Moffat Line. After a quick chat with Julie, I figured the CZ would be headed up the mountain, too, so I decided to head up 72. I got up to Cliff and set up the camera. After waiting for 2 hours, I decided to call no joy and head back down the mountain. Both the Zephyr and the manifest must've beat me up to Cliff, though that didn't seem likely. Whatever the case, I think I must've looked like the Scotties and it was awhile before I warmed up again!

Brian, I hope you are right handed. Did you open your windows and let some fresh air inside?
The answer is no to both...
We currently have our son and his wife living in our basement- opening the windows would have froze them out, I think.

Heck, the older of my dogs will go out and roll in the snow - so I "have" to towel her off - which she loves.
Not a bad weekend. Started out with a little snow, but temps were relatively mild and the sun was mostly out. The end (of winter) is near!
Latest word on the grandbaby is that she's taking her time making her appearance. I think they'll probably try to get her to make her grand entrance this week.
Mmmmmm. Supper...
Think our temp is up to around 69, 70 right now, with plenty of very nice sunshine! And yeah, Joe, our forecast for tomorrow is rain coming in sometime towards afternoon, on into overnight and Tuesday morning. You're right, Joe: yuck! Our temps will be dropping, so who knows, it may be freezing rain here sometime Tuesday.
The chicken and pork chops are ready, and the following veggies are on the warmer bar: lima beans, broccoli w/cheese sauce, green beans, corn, potatoes, and in the cooler, you'll find garden salads made.
Joe and Lance, have containers made for you two for work tonight: little bit of everything, including some pizza left from last night.
