I am off to Phoenix for the weekend - seeing family that are 'snowbirds' from Minnesota.  We will see some spring training games today and tomorrow. Will be back for breakfast Monday.

All of you who have to be out in the winter weather please be safe, whether driving or walking.

....Overnight the system provided perhaps a good strong 3" and it's not quite stopped yet.  It is to wind down this morning and slide off to the east.  Low 20's here now.

Good snowy Saturday morning, everyone!  Joe, thanks for making the beverages for this morning.  I'll help you with breakfast preparations.  I do believe Mutt has batteries for the smoke detectors, but I'll check with him, after he wakes up!

Our thermometer is showing 30, 31 degrees outside, but in the outlying areas, they have said the temp is in the mid to upper 20s, with windchills right around zero.  Currently the snow totals are ranging anywhere from 6 to 9 inches; and they say that when the snow ends later this morning, we could see at least a foot of snow.  And it is very windy, so the snow is drifting in some areas.

They are rolling a lot of closings at the bottom of the morning newscast, mostly churches that have cancelled Saturday music practices, meetings, etc., along with the college Saturday  classes.  I know I'm not going anywhere, staying right here inside!

Everyone have a good morning, stay in if you can, and if you have to go out, be careful out there!!

Larry, have a very safe trip, and what CW said.

Dan, very curious to see what the sign says.

Snowing rather heavily here now, maybe we will get that large total they

keep talking about.

Looks like a very good evening to stay inside, sit next to the fire, watch a movie

and munch on popcorn.

.....So far, this "storm" moving thru has provided what I have to call just a "trace" of snow here so far today.   Cincinnati and Columbus, Oh and points northeast, are in line to get some really nasty stuff.   Blizzard conditions with lot of snow.

Dan, like the looks of you Diner for your layout!  Joe, thank Stacey for us for getting extra popcorn, and the extra strawberries.  Thinking about pancakes tomorrow morning, with fresh strawberries.  And with what I've got, maybe some strawberry muffins.  But for right now, I've replenished the warmer bar with fish for tonight's Fish Fry.

Reports on the weather here:  the heavy snow should be starting somewhere around 7:30 to 8:30 tonight, continuing on into tomorrow morning, possibly early afternoon.  They already closed at least one of the local malls, and the others are closing early.

You all have a good evening, stay inside, and stay warm and safe.

Larry, have a safe trip, and hug the baby for all of us.Wink [;)]

Snowing here right now.  Hopefully I won't have to clear the driveway to get out in the morning.  Looks like it may be a rain event further south, and I can deal with that.

Need to vent the kitchen.  Get a health permit.  Paint it a bright color. Hire a good cook and wait staff and work them to death.

Go to bank at least once a day!

Ok, I'm back with pictures of my attempt at creativity.  Most of you probably are aware that I am an HO scale modeler.  On my section of the layout I have decided to kitbash a cafe: this one!  It'll have a kitchen added to the backside and there will be a sign outside.

Here it is pre-kitbashing.  I'll update folks as time warrants.

A closer view, it's an ex-SP coach that I had no plans for.

Walt,
They took it to KS one year and MO another so KY isn't out of the realm of possibility.  They should be there shortly (if not already) and will be staying through Sunday evening.  It's my Brother in Law's (BiL's) 3rd and final trip to the "Sand Box".  He retires with 12 in on 9/27/08.  I'll make sure that message gets passed on.

CW,
I'm working on a project you might like.  Hopefully pics this afternoon (if work stays slow!).  Back in later...again!

Guess I should have asked Mutt to put out lunch earlier:  I was sleeping (11:20 until about 5 minutes ago).  But I'll have our Friday Fish Fry set out in about 15, 20 minutes.  On today's menu:

1.  Cod
2.  Perch (I know it's Dan's favorite!)
3.  Halibut
4.  Haddock
5.  Clam cakes
6.  Scallops
7.  Shrimp
8.  Flounder

All the usual sides dishes, such as fries, cole slaw, corn on thecob, baked beans and hushpuppies.

Anybody have a good recipe for "snow cream"?  I've got plenty of sugar and vanilla extract, etc., for it, but don't remember how to actually make it!  Ray or Tom, , where are you guys when I need you in the kitchen, or anyone else who can help with desserts?Wink [;)]

.....Oh boy, sounds like they do that out on the Plains too....Ever since we arrived in Indiana  {46 years ago}, one hears each season that winter can't be over yet before we have the {basketball sectionals...SNOW}.....I thought that was just this  State, but apparently not.

Walt, as I was watching one of my morning shows...{Morning Joe}, and the weather gal showed the weather map....Wow...Looks like you fellows south of us are poised to see some serious snow the Low system has generated from all the moisture it picked up in the Gulf on it's way up through the Ohio Valley and on Eastward, etc...

We're in it's path too, but just on the edge of it {the projected path now}, as it works northeast.  Maybe 1" today and 1 to 2" overnight is what they are saying.  It's 28.4 degrees here right now.

So, good luck to all in it's path....

Mook, that's an awful lot of them, are there enough to go around?!?!

Well, it did start snowing about 7:00am, (EST) and the way it's coming down we might

accidently get that 1-4, 4-6, 6-8, 6-10, 8-12 inches that they've telling us we would.

5:00 AM in AZ and the one who was 'stuffed' last night is now ready for Paula morning offerings. Brownies!!! I only eat them if they are warm or cold so let me at them.

Went out for the newspapers 20 minutes ago and witnessed a beautiful night sky, no moon and no light polution so the stars were spectacular. 30 degrees out and no coat so I did not stay long. Have a great and safe day all.

Having a Blysard.  20-30 mph winds and 1 whole inch of snow.

We have state basketball tournaments at this time each year and it always snows and generally a lot.  Well, this is stretching it a little...but it qualifies.

RIF going on in the next few months so once again I don't know if the plug on this puter will be pul

CW, thanks for the opportunity for your wonderful leftovers which I will usually help dispose of, but tonight we had the State Department Commander visit our American Legion Post 6 and a great dinner was served. I am stuiffed (one of my friends? said full of it).

I will be ready for breakfast Friday AM. Goodnight all from AZ.
