....For anyone watching the D convention from Denver today {yesterday}, and this evening....beautiful shots of the Union Station in the background from MSNBC at the location of reporters Chris Mathews and Keth Oberman.

The same Union Station Chris {Cop Car}, has shown us on here....with his great night photos.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  We have a morning temp of 68 degrees, and looking for a high of 81 for today.  Hopefully, in a day or two, we'll get some of that rain that is to the south of us, around Nashville, TN.

Coffee, juice, milk and hot tea are ready, and on the breakfast bar this morning:  turkey bacon, pork sausage patties, scrambled eggs, cereal, toast, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, bagels and bear claws. We'll give Matt a good breakfast, to start his school day out right, and give him plenty of energy for the morning!Smile [:)]

Got roast, taters and carrots on in the Crock Pots for later on today (lunch & supper).

You all have a great morning, and I'll see you all when Tuesday Produce is over.

Sunny here, but cool - about 46 when I left the house this morning.  This is August?

Bearclaw and Tea.

Planning on kayaking this weekend, if the water isn't too high...

Sorry about getting back in here so late; but here is tonight's supper menu, ala MEXICAN FIESTA:

1.  Spanish Rice

2.  Burritos:  beef, beef & bean, beef enchilada style

3.  Tacos (soft shell and hard shell)

4.  Chimichangas

5.  Fajitas

Think our high today reached 85.  It was pretty cool all morning, felt really nice out.  But, around 2, 2:30, it really started to warm up as the breeze went kaploohy (sp?)

Roy, it's both:  chicken and beef fajitas.

The sky is looking like we could get some rain any time!  I sure do hope so.  At least I got the tomatoes picked, so I'm ready for the rain to come on in, and give them a good deep drink of water.  (That way, we don't have to lug out the sprinkler can x # of times to water them!!

Great supper!

Phone rings at work today - I check the caller ID and know I recognize the number.  Then I realize it's my daughter.  Unexpected phone calls at unexpected times are generally not a good thing, but this one was.

Gonna be a grandpa again!  This one's due in May.

Daughter wanted about a year between her brother's baby and her own and she did a pretty good job - 14 months.

Too early to know whether it's a boy or a girl, but we'll find out soon if it's healthy - they start those ultrasounds really early!

Happy news Grandpa Larry!  Refresh our memories as to how close or far will you have to travel to see new baby?  'Course with puters, it won't be far at all.

Allergies have attacked, so up trying to breathe!  And just when I finally got my bed so comfy! So I yawn and sniff.

Mawnin everbody. I am up early and guess I will open the place up. Since my last cooking fiasco, I shall let CW or whomever do the honors out of respect to the membership! Currently 77 degrees and cloudy in Carolina after a rainy night. It was forecast that the area just north of us could get very heavy rain, up to 3" per hour, but I haven't heard whether it happened or not. The wife has Pettibone's mortgage manor feeling like the north pole this morning, so I think I will go sit on the porch! Yall take care.

This one will be just an hour away in Syracuse.  Instead of long weekends it'll be (relatively) quick visits.

Congratulations, Larry!!  Another little one for you to spoil!

Mookie, sorry to hear that you allergies are attacking.  Think we could form  club?  Mine have been going strong for a week now.  Between the itchy eyes, and sneezing, it's almost a wonder that my nose isn't more open than it is.

Coffee, juices, hot tea, iced teas and lemonade are ready to go this morning.

On the warmer bar this morning:  oatmeal, toast, turkey bacon, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, bagels and bear claws.

Was lulled to sleep last night, by the sound of raindrops!  (And no, "the raindrops weren't falling on my head").

Mookie, here's your coffee mug, and a couple of bagels w/strawberry cream cheese on the side, if you'd like some.  Or would you just like butter on them?

Strawberries and allergies.

My late uncle was the caretaker for a "summer house" with an extensive garden.  One annual "chore" was the picking of the strawberries.

At some point it was found that said uncle was having a reaction to the strawberries, leaving the job to be completed by his family (mostly his kids) who often helped out.

That was, however, until it was found that he wasn't allergic to handling strawberries, he was allergic to eating strawberries.  As anyone who has ever picked berries knows, it's some for the bucket, one for the picker, some for the bucket, one for the picker.....

....Our day starts with 64 degrees...{here at this late hour}, and cloudy.  Now that is a little different.  They have been talking about "Faye's" outer rings could touch this area today and give us some badly needed rain.  I don't know if that will happen or not.  Looked {to me}, like it was trending east too much to be able to catch even some of us here in Indiana.

Last night, at the rather late hour and again watching MSNBC and their "outside location" there in Denver....and the Union Station in the background....There was a live steamer over along side {visible}, that station....They were even blowing the whistle.  Marker lights lit up on it, etc....Which engine, I don't know....not enough light to see, but earlier it was said UP 3985 was going to be present and I thought they had changed their mind....

Of course the reporters didn't say much at all about it....just annoyed of the whistle making noise....Didn't sound like any of them actually knew anything much about what was going on.....Did anyone else see it.  You could really hear the whistle very easy.

So I'm thinking it was 3985 under steam we were witnessing.

Edit:  We now know it's 844.

844 is there and is the only steam there. BNSF has a GEVO and UP has a Hybrid Goat (2622)and a Big EMD (Heritage 1989) there on the DUT tail tracks between the Gates and EPA buildings at 18th & Wynkoop.

The DNC is playing h*ll with the only north-south rail route through Denver (and the state); the lights might dim for our denizen of the swamp if coal supply is tight at the TX powerplants.

(The other railroads passenger sets are here w/o locomotives and made a rather motley entrance into town from the south on Saturday and will slink outta town Friday)

.....What really is the occasion for this collection of RR units.....?

Does it have anything to do with the convention.....?  If so, I sure wish they would show us a better view.

Maybe Chris will eventually have some photos to show us.

I thought I saw light rail units pass early in the convention week but last night again, the only transportation units I saw were busses.

They are all there for public view and inspection. IF the Numbskull Burbcasting Company had panned up over the toy trains, the Yellow Peril's Business Car Fleet was taking up two tracks under the platforms, Ski Train had another and Amtrak had the part closest to the headhouse. BNSF and the others are further out from the depot.

....Wow, it sure is a shame some kind of a deal couldn't have been struck to take a few minutes and at least video tape the displays at the station and present it to the TV audience.  Surely someone could have found a "twist" to talk about it being there for the public to see...

I could see the UP yellow passenger cars over at the platforms.....I just figured it was a consist stored there by UP and did not realize it was part of a display.

Now why should the news media say/do anything that makes sense regarding trains when they have trouble enough being objective with the news?

Mookie, that's the main reason I haven't been in here much today.  Seems like I'm having to use my Flonase twice a day, in order to be able to breathe, without doing the sniffing, just to try to open my nose!  And I heard about the ragweed pollen being up Monday, I think it was.  Which clears up the ragweed pollen:  a good rain shower or some nice, cold weather?!?!

(cw, sniffling her way out the door)
