Chris - great pictures. Felt the chill off of them, however. Even in summer, it still looks cold.
CW - after supper tonite, we will have to sit on the porch again - days are a little cooler and makes the evenings nice to be out.

.....Well the days of windows open now for 10 days or two weeks or so seems to be coming to a hault. Just closed up and started A/C.....Humidity is on the rise and it was not that comfortable as we arrived back home here after doing a few errands and having lunch.
Quentin
Q - our temps went down but humidity never did. And the late summer allergies - I can't even go there. We kept our AC on as always - until first freeze.
Our seasons consist of flip from heat to ac to heat....
J
....Well sure, if you were still dealing with humidity....you needed the air running. This has to be some kind of record here. Humidity as low as it's been for this amount of time. Indiana in deep summer with low humidity, just doesn't happen very often.
It was nice....Like to have the windows open when possible.
CW - It was very tough to come back to reality. Thankfully, I think I missed Denver's heat wave for the year while I was gone. The temp got up to 104ºF while I was away. In fact, we had a bit of Alaskaesque weather over the weekend with temps in the 60s and almost constant rain. It was the perfect weather for working on my shots! I do have some railroad shots coming up. Skagway was our next port of call after Juneau, and that means the White Pass and Yukon. I did as much of the line as one can currently do right now (up to Carcross, Yukon Territory). The line goes to White Horse, but currently the railroad isn't running that far north.
Tree - Now that I have my passport, I've thought about traveling more of the world, but it really does seem like I should see more of my country first. I started filling out a map of US counties that I've traveled to, and it was kind of shocking just how few I've been in! I don't even have any complete states yet (though I'm close on a couple of them). I've never been up your way yet, so a northeast color trip might be kind of nice. I've never been to California (or any of the west coast apart from what I covered on the AK trip). I'm missing some very big names in the national park system (here again, I'm even missing a national park in my own state! I have yet to get to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP). I think I'll focus my efforts here before I even think about going too far abroad.
Mook - If you think these are cold, just wait until I get my glacier shots posted! That blue ice just feels cold even while looking at pictures! I should have some Mendenhall Glacier shots up shortly, but the stuff from Glacier Bay NP and College Fjord are simply stunning (and downright frigid looking)!
Speaking of the glaciers, do any of you know how to do animated GIFs? I've got some sequences of glaciers calving icebergs (one is really, really impressive!), and it would be fun to post those as animated GIFs, but I have no idea how to do that.

CCSS - I'm sure there are some try-ware and share-ware programs out there that will let you do that. I'm not sure about Photoshop. You'd be creating a GIF, at any rate.
Finally home. Have to put the checkbook in the freezer for a while to cool it off, though. Who knew a fuel pump would run nearly $500 (plus the labor to install it!)?

Hi everyone,
Just dropping by for a glass of tea on the way home.
Cris, good to meet your acquaintance and really enjoyed the shots from the 49th state. Looking forward to seeing the pictures you took on the glacier.
Hope the evening goes well for our favorite ladies in the Cafe
The lemon icebox pie was great the other night Ms. Paula and the peach cobbler recipe is being used my my better half this week end.
See you folks later. It is a warm Tarheel Night, great to sit on the porch
Roy
Tree if this makes you feel any better.
1500 for a fuel pump on a 4 year old Suburban.
150 for the tow and 1,350 for the new pump ( pump inside gas tank )
Larry and railcar, I have you beat on the price. Last May I had to have the injection pump on my Dodge Cummins replaced. Total bill: $1900, $1300 of which was the part (diesel injection ain't cheap!!)
My water pump failed two weeks later, but I changed it myself, was only two bolts and the serpentine belt, had it done in about an hour (try that with today's gas motors!).
Just putzed around in both diners today (virtual and real), but about time to go to bed again, will run the last few miles to Dallas tomorrow morning, hook up again, and stay there untill it's appointment time. Of course, then I'll have to deal with the lumpers.......
See everyone later....

.....500 bucks for a fuel pump...must be in the gasoline tank.
Water pump....Should get by with 250 to 300.
....On the subject of trucks and repair.....My little truck had a balance problem at a certain speed and the dealer installed a new drive shaft.....$1100....!! But no problem....had an extended warranty on it and bingo....that paid it.
Later, still fighting {some}, of the problem....they replaced the center bearing {drive shaft}, didn't see the price of that and the warranty covered it and the balance problem is much, much better....
Yep - Fuel pump is in the tank. My friend the mechanic (who I called first) suggested that I rap on the bottom of the tank with a hammer (preferably while someone tries to crank it, but I was alone). The guy at the dealership that fixed it said the same thing! It didn't work.
Works now.
Thunderbumpers in the area, several trees down. We just cut one up that was blocking half the lane of a state highway.
Have to see if things settle down later.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone! A pleasant 70 degrees outside this morning, going for a high of 90 around 6 p.m. EDT.
Ahhhhh, looks like we were hopping in here last night! That's what I like to see: everyone coming in, and enjoying themselves!
Coffee and juices, lemonade and teas are ready to go; and on the breakfast bar this morning: How about some cereal (several kinds to select from), turkey bacon, pork sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, chunks of cantaloupe & melons, bagels and bear claws.
At 5 a.m. had people parked outside for Tuesday Produce; there is no sense, being out there, three hours before I even go out to start putting names on the sign-in sheet.
What would you all like today: Mexican Fiesta, Oriental, Italian, etc.? Letting you all tell me what you would like to have for lunch and supper tonight!
See everyone after Produce is over!!
morning
Cw just put it in a doggie bag and matt and I will eat it.We lost a new guy last night.he decided 1 day of work was enough.Going to need more help when the college kids go back to school.Time for a nap.
.....Another sunny start here in Indiana....Had to restart A/C yesterday as the humidity was working it's way back in. I assume the same is occuring today. Have not been outside yet. Temp now, is 65....so that means 85 plus for us today.
Attended our town's Council meeting last evening and it got rather lively. Very interesting. There was a toss of a coin {so the deputy town manager said of which 2 streets involved were to be paved, among others. I really do believe by us being there it will be our street....! {Because he promised us several times earlier}. And he had to get up and do the report about it....Contracts are to be let on the 29th. Wow, maybe the bicycle can be used again after all....

Thanks. Made a good Christmas card, too.
....Viewing from the McD's parking lot here in west Muncie last evening as we often do...witnessed a very long total covered grain car train {loaded}, come thru from the west on the NS Frankfort line. Seems this time of the year that activity really does increase.
Don't know if it is heading to the east coast for export or not, but someone is receiving lots of grain.....of some kind.
Q - when you said an unpaved road - I went to look at Muncie again. Found out that you are really a small city (population-wise) and....the most important fact - home to Garfield!
Ball what and Letterman who aside - Garfield!!!
....No Jen, didn't mean to imply "unpaved street"....just that it is in dire need of paving after 27 years since it's been paved. At that time we received "city sewers" and all the streets were paved after that project was completed in our addition.
We are in an addition between Muncie and Yorktown and a few years ago we were annexed into the latter. We are built around a golf course Just north of the original small town of Yorktown....and streets appropriately around fairways, etc....and it makes for nice bike riding. Now, with this {our}, street that will be enhanced by new paving. To make that better yet, our street connects {both ends}, to streets that have been repaved these last few years...Hence, continous route with good paving for bike riding.....again.
Muncie pop {and it has been loosing} since we were heavy on auto parts manufacturing is now about 70,000. Old original little town Yorktown and all new annexed areas now equal about 10,000.
Edit: Yes, it's Garfield and Ball State University....and they are moving back in right now...! That brings about 18 to 20,000 students.
Tuesday Produce people weren't too bad today. We ended up with about 86 people. The truck brought: green beans, tomatoes, carrots and greens. I think the greens are mustard: they're all crinkly looking. Have them on the stove now, cooking.
Dan, I wasn't sure if you all would like something different today; but, I've got The Tuesday Mexican Fiesta now on the warmer bar:
Tacos (hard shell & soft shell)
Burritos: beef enchilada, beef & beans, and plain beef burritos
Tamales
Spanish Rice
Quesadillas
Enchiladas
Fajitas
Chimichangas
And shredded lettuce w/onion & tomatoes for a side dish, or put on top of whatever you pick from the menu.
And, of course, the tortilla chips w/salsa, picante sauce, and con queso
Everybody enjoy, and have a great afternoon!
Ah - if you can't get out to watch a train or two - watch the duplex across the street get a new driveway.
2 Bobkitties out there working like mad to get big chunks of concrete into dump truck. Fascinating!
afternoon
yes lots and lots of grain moving here in nw ohio too.The hamler elevator can send grain to cincinnati, chicago, toledo or the east coast for shipment.Cw thanks for supper.
Tom - my driver had cataract surgery about 2 years ago. The surgery was fairly easy for him, the drops afterward were a pain in the neck not the eye for two weeks (steroids) and the bill $7k about gave him a heart attack.
But he can see very well now - it was only the one eye that was in trouble. It didn't take very long, went home within an hour and I think the only hard part was trying to answer the nurses questions (name, age, add, etc.)
They do so much of it nowdays, it is practically assembly line.
