Most area schools closed again today while they dig out. On Iowa side, the TV reports that tow trucks are prohibited until roads are clear of ice & snow.

grumble grumble.....

Was confined to house yesterday - they closed all public and private schools due to snow so I had to stay home and crab all day!  I don't need vacation this year - I have had enough time off every week to amount to a month vacation!

Tree - think I heard you go over, but then also heard something buzzing out there at 4 am this morning, too.  So not sure if your flight went past and then your part came by later?  Big Smile [:D]

CW & Mutt - glad you are ok - kept hearing about all the tornados.  We are in tornado alley and only got cold and snow and not that much snow, either.

The chicken is back!  Think our flock is back together again.

Next week is when I get seminarized.  They have changed the schedule so much I don't know when and if, so asked for a new up-to-date schedule.

I am having coffee, toast, coffee, juice, coffee, and a hot cup of coffee.....(almost time for the weekend so I can be off again!)  Sigh [sigh]

Good Thursday morning, everyone!  Larry, glad to hear you made it home safely.  Also, thanks for reminding me of Mookie's meetings.  I had forgotten about them. Yes, we were very lucky, not having any damage in our area.

Coffee, juice (just oj this morning), hot chocolate, hot cider and hot tea are all ready this morning.  On the breakfast bar:  bagels, bear claws, blueberry muffins, turkey bacon, sausage links & patties, and biscuits & gravy.

Anyone have any requests for our lunch/supper menu tonight?  (And hopefully, we'll have more people in here throughout the day!)

Everyone have a good morning, and see you later.

IIRC, Ms La Mook had a bunch of those meetings this week.  I'm sure she'll be back with a vengence.

Wasn't sitting next to the window on the way east, so didn't try to wave to her...  GPS didn't work on that side either.

Excellent flight - until we approached Detroit, where things got bumpy.  Very bumpy from Detroit to Syracuse, too.  Even had to dodge some weather.  And in a DC-9 to boot.

Hit some snow on the way north, but it was managable.  The stuff that was falling after my class, however, meant 35-45 all the way home.  Managed to push throught the snow in the driveway and into the garage, but then the snowblower wouldn't start.  About 5 minutes with a hair dryer thawed it out enough to turn over (apparently we got some wind-blown rain and it got into the flywheel).  Then I discovered the thick layer of hard crust under the latest 8" of snow.

It's done for now.  I can get back out of the driveway.  Kinda hope they delay work tomorrow.  Will be checking!

CW & LM - You lucked out with  your weather.  Not often we get that kind of storm system this time of year, and it shows.

Brownie and milk and bed.

The next round of Italian spaghetti, garlic bread/toast/sticks, are on the warmer bar, and the salads are in the cooler.

It's quite windy out, and supposed to get down to 32 in  the morning.  Will need to bundle under the comforter tonight!!

Has anyone heard from Mookie since Monday?!?!  Wrote her an email, but haven't heard anything back.

Lance, I'll be checking on that this afternoon.  And welcome back in here, Lance!  Where've you been hiding, lately?  We need to get all our missing patrons back in here.  Speaking of patrons:  Cannonball and Shirl, like your avitar!!

For lunch and supper today we have:  Italitan spaghetti w/garlic bread, garlic Texas toast, and garlic breadsticks, garden salad, and Caesar salad.

Desserts today:  chocolate cake, chocolate pie, white cake w/white icing, and chocolate cake w/white icing.  There's also brownies, made from scratch (no mix today).  Two kinds of brownies:  both chocolate, one w/nuts inside and chocolate icing on top.

You all enjoy your meal, and I'll see ya later!

Good morning everyone.

Just a thought: When clicking into the thread this morning, I noticed It was entitled "The fall 2007 DD& Coffee Shop". Is it time for a 2008 coffee shop since we're now into the second month? Again, just a thought.

  CW; Glad to hear you folks are ok . Really odd weather for this time of year.  The weather guessers said Memphis took a bad hit this a.m. That would be too close for comfort for you folks.  Wed. night prayer meeting at our church will be for the folks in the storm areas.  Respectfully, Cannonball

Good morning, CW. I am happy that you and Mutt came through that weather intact. It may be our turn later today, but hopefully, it won't come through here. Imagine, tornadoes in Jan and Feb! Who would ever thought of such a thing..... Thanks for the breakfast. Everyone take care

Good morning, everyone.  Well, we made it through the storms last night (will go outside and check around, after daybreak).  We were under a tornado watch last night until 2 a.m. this morning.  We were even under a tornado warning around 12:30 this morning.    Seems the worst damage is south-southwest of us, in Meade and Hardin Counties.  In Muhlenburg Co., a couple and their adult daughter were killed when a tornado hit their mobile home.  Hearing reports of quite a bit of trees and power outages.  I didn't go to bed until 1:50 this morning.

Coffee, juice, hot chocolate, hot tea and hot cider are all ready, and on the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, home fries, and muffins, hot out of the oven.

Hope you all have a great morning, and see ya later.

Last day here in Phoenix, so spent lots of time with the mum.

I've about finished packing, so it's out the door by 4:30 for my 7 am flight.  The last of the Super Bowl attendees has hopefully cleared out, so my check-in will be nice and smooth.  There were some issues Monday and Tuesday.

Pizza makes a good bedtime snack, too...

Well, I want to apologize to everyone for not making it back in until now.  After Produce this morning, I went grocery shopping, and have been busy.  So, you're getting a 'light' supper tonight, of pizzas.  On tonight's menu:

1.  cheese

2.  anchovie

3.  Hawaiian

5.  pepperoni/mushroom

6.  pepperoni/sausage/mushroom

7.  supreme

We had a stormy morning, for a bit, then it's just been cloudy all afternoon.  They are saying that we'll have some moderately severe storms come into the area, around 10, 11 tonight, and then another round around 3, 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Good Tuesday morning, all!  Good job Willy!  You get a A++! Good to see everyone who came in last night.  Larry, have a safe trip back to NY.

Coffee, juice, tea, hot chocolate are ready and waitin', and on the warmer bar this morning, you'll find all the usual breakfast items.

It's very warm here this morning:  66 degrees, with rain on the way.  Possibly some storms tonight, like we had last Tuesday night.  I sincerely hope it doesn't include any more tornadoes, but they say it's a possibility.

Have a great day, and take care.  See you all after I'm through with  Tuesday Produce.

Switch - I'm sure I'll be back out here to AZ a few more times this year.

Rain today in Phoenix, and a store clerk said something about freezing tonight.  In fact, I was reading that the FBR Open in Scottsdale started late a couple of days due to frost on the course.

Working on packing - I take to the air again Wednesday.  I figure we'll pass well south of Mookieland, but if I'm on the north side of the airplane, I'll wave anyhow.

The funny part is that I may arrive in NY to almost the same temperatures I've been putting up with here in AZ.  Plus it's dry, and my body has been trying to compensate for it all week.  Buy stock in Kleenex!

Back to packing.

....Yes, Cannonball....the Marhoefer plant is all dormant and most of it gone, and in fact some new buildings on that property.  Just recently.  not sure what it even is yet.

Believe all those RR towers are no longer here either.  Yes, memory is a great thing.

We'll keep you in mind and when something interesting happens, changes, etc....we'll try to put it up on here for you.

  ~~~ Quentin; Thanx for the update . Lots of memories there and about town . Too many to mention , the most is trying to get out of the traffic to go to Chi. stockyard to geta load of hogs for Meyerhoffer Packing, and the R.R. tower ( N.K.P. & N.Y.C.)  Memory is one gift of God that time can endure.  Cannonball
Good evening!
Just thought I would drop by and say hello. School is keeping me busy. I'm working on my second semester term paper right now. This one has to be in MLA style. The first semester paper was in APA style. The term paper really isn't as hard as a lot of people make it sound. It just requires a lot of time and work and there are a lot of rules to follow.
We have snow on the way for tomorrow. It didn't look like we would get much earlier today, but now the computer models have shifted to heavier accumulations. Not sure if its enough for a snowday, but several inches could fall.
CW - I think I have the answer to your trivia question. The Baltimore and Ohio was acquired by the Chesapeake and Ohio in 1963, and merged with it in 1965.
