Goooooood Saturday morning everyone.
Noon already, so I guess I'll have to settle for brunch.
Went out and bought a DeLorme atlas program for the laptop last night. Ties in very nicely with my GPS. Put everything in the truck and took it for a spin, with amazing results - the little cursor showed exactly where I was.
The program came with a "certificate" for some free aerial photo overlays - there are spots where the maps and the photos don't exactly match up, but not by much.
Overall, it'll be pretty handy.
Up to 43 already. Can't complain, as they were forecasting highs in the high 20's for the weekend. I've even got a comforter hanging out on the clothesline...

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Joe, here you go, tonight's PIZZA MENU:
1. Anchovie2. Cheese3. Goetta4. Hawaiian5. Pepperoni/mushroom6. Supreme7. Calzones
There are three extra large of all six pizzas, so there should be enough for everyone to have their fill. And instead of any dessert pizzas tonight, later on, we'll pop popcorn, with your choice of apple cider, hot cider, or soft drinks or fruit punch.
Yay, pizza. Thanks CW. I think I'll have a big slice of anchovie and then get back to work on my essay. I have to write a review of an article on CO2 as a driver of climate change during the Phanerozoic. The article is interesting, but there are so many technical terms I keep getting confused. Why can't professors just ask us to write about trains!
Hope everybody had a good Saturday and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Good late evening everyone. Can I have a calzone to go?
Now that the rains are over, we're back to the cold mornings again.
Good Sunday morning! Hope everyone had a great day/night last night.
Coffee has finished brewing, and I've fixed fresh oj/oj/tangerine, and pineapple juices this morning. Hot chocolate, hot cider, and hot tea are just about ready.
On the warmer bar: cinnamon rolls, blueberry, cherry, strawberry muffins, pancakes and waffles, and plenty of maple syrup. As usual, everything will be out on the warmer bar, until about 10:30 EST.
Do I have any requests for our Sunday Dinner menu? Or would anyone like to be alternate cook today?
good morning
thanks for breakfast Cw.going to get matthew up for sunday school.cold and damp here in nw ohio.

....Cannonball: Sounds like a great service you are into now and probably one you enjoy. Sounds like your big rig is gone and the incentive can't be there then to go out and do it "some more"....
Sounds like you can handle the idle time and enjoy it too plus whatever you care to be doing...like the pickup run.
Muncie Gear and Borg Warner...{two different businesses}. But this is the last full year for BWA....They tried to re negotiate the contract with the Union force but they wouldn't talk to them and the plant will be closed down in 2009. It has been in continous operation for 107 years and that will be the end. It is one of the original four companies that formed BW. The work will be moved to different places....Not sure on details yet.
The big Chevrolet plant...on 8th street....is physically gone too..!! Also there is rumor Borg-Warner will raze their building when the work stops. That structure is 1/2 mile long here on Kilgore ave....!
It's all so sad. I spent 37 years in the experimental lab there....5 years of it in Pennsylvania doing road test work, plus several years of a program in the Kingman, Az...Yucca flats area doing similar work. Enjoyed it all for the most part. Last few years were not so much fun anymore...as the world economy had changed everything so much.
By the way...We've got 37 degrees here in Muncie this morning, with gray skies and it's dry. No snow. That's a good thing.
Enjoy that leisure time.
Quentin
I just had to stop in and share this with everyone. You should all check out Mike Yuhas' website. There are so many great train pictures you could spend days looking at it. He even has maps of the locations that the shot was taken at and has the camera settings for the shot. Hope everyone else likes it too.

Sunday Dinner this afternoon: beef stew w/cornbread, chili and vegetable beef soup. Decided to fix something totally different; hope no one minds Sunday Dinner being late today.
Weather here this afternoon: cloudy, gloomy with a current temp of 37.8.
Thanks for dinner CW. I havn't had cornbread in forever!
On a toatally different note, does anyone on here know any good railfanning spots within a few hours drive of Trenton, NJ. I am not very familiar with the area back here yet so I thought someone else on here might know of some spots where you can see freight trains. Although I do have to admit that it is nice to be able to wander a mile down the road and watch the passenger trains go over the canal.
Hope everyone had a good day and keep warm.
CW thanks for supper for tonight.we have rain/snow mixed right now.q508 is ready to head out of defiance yard and goes to toledo after it turns north at deshler.
Good Monday morning, all! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend, and didn't wear yourselves out too much! Current temp is about 30, with a high today in the mid to upper 30s? Can't remember what I heard this morning. Do know we're supposed to have very light periods of snow flurries, light snow showers, with maybe a trace of accumulation.
Coffee is ready, juices are made, and hot chocolate, cider and tea will be ready in a couple of minutes.
On the warmer bar this morning: oatmeal, toast, bagels, bear claws, and cinnamon struesel coffee cake.
You all have a good morning, and I'll be back in the stockroom, taking inventory of supplies.
CW
better double check the chocolate cake inventory while you are back there.see alot of paw prints on the floor.cold and snow next few days.thats nw ohio weather.the really cold weather will arrive maybe next weekend? seems a Mr. James got clocked doing 100+ in a 65 zone near cleveland.I'm sure he could get a ride to work if his license got taken away.
That o.k., Joe: got plenty of chocolate cakes in the freezer. But I do need to get some more cake mixes, though. Except for the chocolate, all I've got left is Funfetti cake mixes, and one strawberry and one Angel food mixes.
For today's SPECIAL, we've got more beef stew and cornbread, along with chili (mild & medium today); if you want spicy, there's plenty of hot sauce, and hot salsa you can add to your bowl.
Very cold and breezy here, with occasional flurries and light snow showers earlier. Not doing anything outside right now, though. Guess I'd better get back to doing little odds and ends around here.
In for some feed the fever chili and cornbread, perfect for this cold weather were having again. Been fighting a cold lately, maybe the chili will knock it out!
Thanks CW!

SilverSpike, you're welcome!
Got another round of beef stew, cornbread and chili on the warmer bar for supper tonight.
Still having little bits of flurries around here, believe we're supposed to have more, probably around or after midnight. Going to make a very cold morning for me doing Produce tomorrow.
^.....
More cold coming later this week. I haven't warmed up from December! Where is Willy - need to have a talk with that young man.
Busy, busy - must take off 2 days next week for in-town conferences. You know you have arrived when they make you a team leader and then don't tell you but let you read it in the meeting overview. Guess history is my claim to fame.

here mookie is some more coffee for you.at work no snow here at home we got an inch of snow.at work 2 norange bnsfs were in the(NS) siding with a detroit edison coal train.here at home I hear the csx dispatcher tell the q509 that the crossover is broken on the east end of the yard and they will have to get their train from the west end.as the crew does their switching the rest of the train will be blocking one of the mains.ahh winter.we have some more pancakes and eggs coming up.
Yep, cold here too in NC, 19° F. here this morning. Heard we might get some flurries tomorrow.........but you know the weather guessers have been predicting rain all week and we only got .02" of rain all week.
Still fighting this head cold, but feeling a bit better this morning.
Hot tea and toast for me this morning! Thanks!
Cheers,
Ryan
Snowed here almost all day yesterday and overnight, but it's a very light snow (dare I say "mist"?) and has only collected about an inch. I think it's from a coastal storm - haven't been tracking the weather very closely.
All's quiet otherwise on the northeastern front...
Bearclaw and tea. I'll be in my usual seat.
Ms Mook - at least you found out your duties before you got to the meetings...
Joe - we saw another one of those 60's with a new number - the first two were painted over.
And we saw a B unit this last weekend - I didn't get a good look at it - was busy writing down info. But the Driver caught it.
Tree - I am just glad I "heard" about it a week before - still waiting details and bet those will come on the day of.......
....Believe the snow and a bit of wind we had yesterday was from a Low system working across the mid west and on towards Larry's area. It produced real fine snow that upon looking out several times last evening I could not even see it snowing, but the ground did get white. Less than a half inch. But the cold stuff is working down here on the back side of the Low.
This morning we have 19 degrees and now a bit before noon it is really bright and the sun is actually breaking thru.
At week's end, we'll have it a bit colder here. And the cold north wind will run way down to the deep south {Jet stream sagging}, for a few days. Then, there is a weather system out {on the plains}....uh oh....I better watch that....and it will effect some snow fall here later in the week. Not sure yet just how much and where in our state.
But light it is now...Really bright with the light snow on the ground and sun just about breaking thru...but a bit of wind and the 19 degrees make it not comfortable outside. But the toy's...{Xtreme's}, heater really puts out so not to worry heading out to run a few errands and partake of lunch.
Good Tuesday afternoon, to one and all. Decided to take the morning off, and concentrated on the Tuesday Produce. Really bundled up this morning, too!! Felt like the temp was in the low teens, and when I left for Produce, our outdoor thermometer was reading 20 degrees. My toes are just now beginning to thaw.
The weather predictors are saying we could get some snow over the weekend, and some really cooooolllld air.
Joe, thanks for getting things going in here this morning! The pancakes are really good!!
For lunch, there's warmed up beef stew, and some chili left. Think I'll work this afternoon on Mexican Fiesta for tonight, unless you all would prefer something else. Just let me know, o.k?
no problem.thanks for supper tonight.wonder if the 508 will have the same problems as the 509.(508 is the eastbound version).cold and snow flurries all day today.going to grab some hot chocolate and watch the news.
Joe, you're welcome! We didn't have any snow flurries today, just the cold.
Our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta is now on the warmer bar. Tacos, burritos (beef & bean, beef enchilada style), enchiladas, fajitas, Spanish rice, shredded lettuce and tomatoes, and cheesy beef nachos, along with tortilla chips and salsa and con queso sauce.
You all have a good evening, and take care of yourselves.
