Mutt's got the spaghetti casserole finished, and out of the oven.  Garlic bread is toasted, and the garden salads are ready and in sitting in the cooler.  So, grab a plate for the caserole, and a bowl for your salad, and grab some garlic bread.  EVERYTHING'S READY AND WAITING TO BE EATEN.

Joe and Lance, containers are ready for you guys to take to work tonight.  And if anyone else in on third shift, feel free to fix containers to take to work tonight.

Not entirely, but let me get you a cup of coffee and a beagle.

CW tried to get in earlier, but apparently either the forum was down for whatever,

or our computer didn't want her to get here.

I'm here!!  Mutt, thanks so much for getting Mookie's coffee and beagle for her!!  Yeah, not sure if the powers that be were doing maintenance this morning, or what, but I couldn't get in the door at 5:30 this morning.  Oh well, I survived, after only getting about 4 hours sleep.

Along with the bagels and bear claws this morning, on the warmer bar, you will find:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, hash browns, peaches & cream oatmeal and toast.

Hope you all had a nice weekend, and hope some of our patrons on the west coast will be able to make it back in today (if they have power back in their areas, that is).  And I also hope everyone has a very good morning!

I'm at work, but I'm not awake.  Two weeks off (I worked both Wednesdays, but it's like I didn't) and I'm not into the groove yet....

Yep, good mornin' Mook, it is a cloudy day here in Chitown with good chance of thunder storms and hail here with hights (now get this) of 65F or higher, breaking an all time record from way back in 1907!  No snow on the ground here now since Saturday afternoon (on Friday we still had about two inches).  With temps in the sixties, even the brown parking lot snow is likely to be mostly gone by the end of the day.

Jim - we got a tinkle this morning at 3 am.  All it did was lightly freeze on our drive and walks.

It was in the high 40's yesterday - very nice.  I sent it your way.  Should continue to melt today, and then 30's this weekend.  We will pay dearly for this nice weather, wait and see.

Tree - the Driver can drive me to work at 5:15, go on to his work a total of about 4-5 miles, work from 6 am to 10 am and then call me when he really wakes up.  I can tell by the silence and then the chattiness that he has arrived!

South of here - I am sending (from yesterday) on BNSF two NS motors with a full freight.  Go horses!  This is just for your viewing pleasure.

Mornin' folks!

Thanks for the breakfast CW!

The warming front has taken hold, low was only 39° F this morning, and the high is supposed to be in the low 70° F today.

Check back later on for lunch....

Saving the leftover spaghetti casserole for supper.  For lunch today:

Your choice of open-face roast beef sandwiches w/beef gravy, or open-face turkey sandwiches w/turkey gravy and either gravy on the mashed taters.  There is also some sweet green peas w/carrots diced up in them, cole slaw, garden salad, and applesauce.

Desserts today:  chocolate cake w/chocolate icing, homemade chocolate meringue pie, yellow cake w/white icing, or blueberry muffins, fresh out of the oven.

For anyone who hasn't made it there yet, check out the new edition of Trackside with Trains, as Kathi Kube is the competition for Mike this week.

......Temp here now:  64.9...!  And it's January.  It started to rise late yesterday afternoon and was warmer a bit after midnight when I went to bed than it was early evening.   Of course no snow.

Maybe it's the hot air backing up from New Hamphire.

Up to 55 here - from -17 last week.  The snow is rapidly disappearing.   Considering that at this time last year we'd had little or no snow.....

Laugh [(-D]  I am so sick of this nonsense - we need to elect someone who will get legislation through that limits it to about 20 min on a really crappy afternoon when TV isn't good and you are wasting your afternoon anyway.

We topped out at 1 degree above our record for January 7th:  71 degrees was our recorded high for today.  With rain coming in later tonight, and scattered showers in the morning.  That will make for a bad first day back for TUESDAY PRODUCE for the new year.  Yuck!

Supper is on the warmer bar:  leftover spaghetti casserole from last night, and there's also open-face roast beef and turkey sandwiches w/gravy.

Have a great evening, everyone!

As noted on another thread - the rain may pack a bigger wallop.  Get ready to duck.

Hot roast beef sandwiches?!?!?!?  Stand Back!

10-4 on that quote from NH.

Ms. Mookie , I agree with what you said. A lot of them ( good ol boys ) tend to step on their tongue , then try to walk away. HEE HEE.  We got a lot of rain the past 2 days and the washes are runnin' full . Still some people think the cars can swim .  Glad we live on the ridge line, as water and whatever else flows down hill. There is a (stupid motorist law ) for the ones who drive into the water . Usually 800.00 U.S. $ for a rescue .CBS had a film on one this afternoon.  Quentin, dont' get a flash burn from NH.

             Respectfully, Cannonball

Hi all, I know I haven't been around in a while. But since everyone is talking about the weather I might as well add that the only good thing I can say about being back at school after winter break is that I left clouds, rain and 50 mph winds back home and got nice sunny 65 degrees at school. It is so nice out that instead of practiceing indoors like we normally do the track practice was outside today. If anyone is around I have some brownies that I stole from the dining hall that I would like to share. I know its college food, but they are actually fairly good (although I would hate to know how many calories are in one of them). Well a little more cruising around the forums and then back to studying for me.

Good Tuesday morning, all!!  Emmar, glad you could make it in for a visit!  We miss you around here!!  And thanks for the brownies!!

Bob, time to wake up!!

Good morning, Cannonball!  How are you and Shirl doing?  Are the two of you beginning to adjust to retirement?  Hope so!

Coffee is on, and just about finished brewing, fresh juice is made, along with hot chocolate, hot cider, and hot tea.

For breakfast this morning, I made some pancakes, fried bacon and sausage.  There are aso some bagels and bear claws for breakfast.

Also made a birthday cake for Bergie's birthday today.  Hope he will be able to drop by and get a big slice of it!  (I also started a separate birthday thread for him, so everyone on the forums can leave birthday greetings for him.)

You all have a great morning, and take care!!

I'm awake, so time for the world to be up!  It is also prattle time -

Amtrak - supposed to be in here at 5 am-ish.  Arrived yesterday when I was on my way home from work at 2:48 pm.  I was distressed to see how old the cars and the engines looked.  Very worn and dated looking.  I imagine they have seen more than their share of grief.

Weather was very nice - will be rainy/snowy maybe this morning and then back to nice.  I can deal with this.

Visited with a man that sits at our watch site almost every day.  We discussed a blind shove of a 3 motor, full freight train with a crossing guard.  Worked perfect.  My first one, but he said he has seen it happen before.  They shoved them clear out of the yard and down a main line until they were lined up to head out of town.  It was a thrill to watch!

Joe - sorry about Ohio State.  LSU was our pick because their DC will be our next head coach!  So he has two BCS rings and his first head coaching job waiting for him.  But Bo went to Ohio state, so it is all within the family.  We are thrilled thoughout the university and the city and state!

Will have the next person in the diner set up hot drinks for all.  Make mine coffee - straight up, please and thank you!

Coffee in the big mug for Ms Mooks, hot chocolate in the urn for those interested, my tea's a-brewin'.

Sixty-five degrees as I arrived at work today.  The airport is showing 62.  And this at 7:30 AM!

The high for Sunday is supposed to be 28.  Better enjoy it while it's here.  The ~foot of snow in my back yard is completely gone - streams and rivers are running pretty high right now.

Time to delve into the papers on my desk.

Back from Produce Tuesday; we had 70 people today, and not a bad selection of food:  iceburg, leaf, and romaine lettuces, 5# bags of red potatoes, sweet potatoes, yellow sweet peppers and little boxes with sliced green apples w/caramel sauce and peanuts.  Just as we finished with the last person, and they started carrying in leftovers inside, it started to rain a little bit.  They said the winds, storms and everything else will probably reach us around 5 p.m. this afternoon.    Joe, don't know about Jim yet:  will try to call and check on him in a few minutes.

On today's menu:  baked pork chops w/baked potatoes, green peas, boiled cabbage, cole slaw, garden salad, deviled eggs, and corn.

Joe, here's a piece of birthday cake for Matt (but, make sure he has lunch before hand)!
