Well, I am off on my eternal search for buttermilk pancakes. Six or so thick'uns with plenty of butter and maple syrup would hit the spot this chilly Carolina morning..... BTW, Claxton Fruit Cake is Su-Perb. I always try to get a couple of them this time of the year.

Tom, here's your six thick buttermilk pancakes, with plenty of butter and maple syrup!  IMHO, I think buttermilk pancakes are the BEST.

Sacto and Tom, I'm not familiar with the Claxton fruitcakes; after my Mom decided it

was too expensive to keep making "homemade ones", before her death she always

ordered several from the Trappist Monks at Gethsemane, Ky. (Gethsemane Farms)

Joe, since we had the big Oak tree taken out we don't have very many leaves to rake,

just a big bunch of Pine needles from the front Pine Tree.

Tom, let me know when the fruit cakes arrives, and I'll provide some boiled custard to go with it!!  That's got my mouth watering for both!!

Joe, have fun raking the leaves.  Do you ever make a big ole pile for Matt to jump in?  Boy, that takes me back down memory lane!!

Lunch is on the warmer bar:  hamburgers, cheese burgers, fries, cole slaw or garden salad.

Anyone have any requests for supper tonight?  I'm having a little trouble thinking of anything that sounds really good for supper.

A burger and fries sound great right about now CW.  For dinner tonight (in honor of Ma Nature's cooldown) how about Chili?

Better yet, how about a big pot of beef stew? Dinner [dinner]

I've eaten the Collin Street Bakery fruitcake and it's actually quite good, because they don't have the overpowering liquor taste some fruitcakes have. Thumbs Up [tup]

Looks like a couple of you have spoken, so here's tonight's supper menu:  both beef stew and chili, with cornbread (for the stew), crackers and grilled cheese sandwiches to go with the chili, and for dessert:  sweet potato pie, chocolate pie, chocolate cake.

Brian, Dan and Larry (and anyone else really tall):  I need help tonight, decorating the Diner and CS for at least a couple of birthdays during the next week.  We have one birthday tomorrow, and another one that I know about on the 14th.  So we'll just leave the decorations up.  Are there any birthdays for November that I don't know about?!?!  If so, please let me know, so I can mark my calendar.

I'm going to say "THANK YOU!!" right now, and after we get the decorations up, I'll fix pop corn for everyone who's in tonight.

And Joe and Lance, containers are ready and in the fridge, for you guys for work tonight.

I'll get the North wall and work on the Balloons.  Where'd my ladder go?

Stew is great CW!  I'll be back in a bit for more of that corn.

I just left four loaves of my homemade bread on the counter in the Diner. The bread should go well with beef stew tonight. Chef [C=:-)]    I used the last bit of flour I had on hand to produce the bread, so I will have to pick up another 10 pound sack of bread flour when I shop for groceries later this week.

I'll take a little time out from beautiful central Virginia to help decorate.

Haven't had time to do any trainwatching, although there is NS action close enough to my hotel that I can hear the locomotives working through and I've heard the CSX crews talking to JAX.

Looks like a little of the white stuff on the Tug Hill plateau tonight.  Probably be gone by the time I get back up there....

Stew wins over chili tonight.  Any cornbread around?

I'll bag some of it for ya!

Got breakfast ready!  Oatmeal (pick your flavor), hot apple cider, hot chocolate (yes, we have marshmellows), hot coffee, and toast with your favorite flavor of jam.  I think we may have some eggs, bacon, and sausage I can get on the warmer.  Back later!

Well, I ordered a 2 lb Claxton fruitcake yesterday and it will be delivered this morning. Talk about service. I got to thinking about that cake yesterday after someone mentioned it and just had to have one. Got me in dutch with the old lady, but that will just make it taste better. Scrambled eggs, probably in a sandwich, and root beer for breakfast this morning and then sit by the door waiting on the cake.......

We have cloudy and overcast skys here in Sioux Falls and a temperature of 25 degrees. It is supposed to warm up here to about 45 later this afternoon. Has anyone out there got it colder than Sioux Falls?

I have the day off today and I am going to try to see my eye doctor this afternoon. I think I've picked up some kind of eye infection, and it may be cold related as I also am having to deal with a runny nose. It kind of made for some rough sleeping last night. Not fun! It's been a long time since I had a comprehensive eye exam and I am probably due for new glasses.
