Today I saw a CNW SD40-2 (I think). It had the UP patches on it coming out of Butler, WI. I stopped at the gas station and bought a cheap disposable camera, but I wasn't able to get in front of the train again. Up has been upgrading that Adams line, and Ithink train speeds have increased as well. Crap. I doubt I will ever see anything like that again. [banghead]

Keep watching! Plenty of them are out there! I have at least five that I have taken pictures of, that are on my website!

NS SD60, Conrail SD50, Wisconsin Central SD50, BNSF (Warbonnet) Dash 9, CEFX SD50, NS, SD50. Then I saw a BNSF Dash 9 with two four-axled flat cars and a NS Caboose.

Hmm... considering they didn't have those... You prolly saw a SD45...

A Western Pacific boxcar in service. Probably the first I've ever seen that's not in a museum. Of course, the batteries in my camera were dead (duuuh).

Last Saturday in Austell I saw some UP's, BNSF's, and, on train 97G NS 3215 and 3218 were both running LHF and 3215 had a M5 horn which is really rare and if it goes to the shop it will be Bad Ordered or Disposed from what I'm told.

Most interesting thing around Northern New Jersey right now are NJTransit's new locos. They are good looking fron the side but kinda ugly in front, at least in my opinion. They are good and fast, seem to pick up speed out of the stations fast. But the most noticeable thing is how quiet they are when they get going, you don't hear much engine noise.

Thats a nice ride, and a good looking engine they have. That unit was rebuilt by D&H before being given to that railroad. On the other end of that line, the Catskill Mountain RR has interesting stuff, too. And they just doubled their trackage.

A former conrail GP15-1 on the former wallkill branch. It was set off by a northbound train most likely a defect... It will most likely to be picked up by local C-712.[:)]

Today at 5:37pm (surprised i remembered): Stratford ,CT, behind Stop And Shop- stopped Waterbury local doubleheaded by FL9s...nice!!!! If my memory serves me right, the FL9s were taken out of passenger service a short few months ago. (i knew they were FL9s -they were definately F- units.) 1-2 minutes later: by stratford RR station: Waterbury local northbound consist of CTDOT cab car, VRE coach car and Amtrak Genesis unit. What a good ending to the day.
Long time lurker, poster of little.

Coal, and tons of it. [:D]

I recently went to the Southwest Missouri area (around Springfield) and BNSF was running coal trains from Kansas City to Memphis like there was no tomorrow. I had not even unpacked the truck before the first one came through. I did see a few general merchandise freights but coal trains far outnumbered them.
