Good afternoon everyone.....busy day today, this is my first visit in the Diner, or online for that matter. Shooping with the CFO, and then I discovered upon returning home that some water was leaking into the utility room where the floor meets the wall in the same corner where it has started to leak lately. The cause is outside the house where the heavy snow melt has rivers headed off the hill behind the house and some is making it to the foundation. I took care of that quickly, no more water leaking in.

J.R.: A swing gate is a good idea, I have noticed several designs lately in MRR mag. I ddin't think that I would have enough room for a safe swing, but with a little creative moving of cabinets and work tables, this can work. It probably is the BEST solution too.

MIKE: SIX (6) HOURS to Davis Junction? Holy cow, is Illinois that big that it would take you 6 hours to drive across the state? Massachusetts is 90 miles in length, so at 60 mph it would take 90 minutes to go from Boston to the NY line up in the Berkshires. You must live in one corner of the state of Illinois and Davis Junction must be in the diagonal corner ?

Hey, Dick, from this page:

http://www.netstate.com/states/geography/il_geography.htm

"...Illinois is 390 miles long and 210 miles wide...." You have to bear in mind, our states are a little longer than Massachusetts is - and that's not counting that some of the roads aren't interstates, so Inch might not (legally) be able to do 60 mph, depending on the roads. (Glad to help out with a mini-geography lesson, Dick.Wink [;)] (tee hee...)

Garry:

so that's how you "wash" the car, der, eh!  ...........
…it is when there hasn’t been much water able to get to the well from lack of snow / rain, and the frost being in the ground still.  In better times we have the pressure washer.  There is however little point in washing vehicles now seeing as our gravel road is a sea of mud!

The taxes and museum work won out over the layout today, and TV program starts in a few mins…but tomorrow is another day!

Take care, and prayers for al in need.Angel [angel]

Mornin,, I'll just have some coffee fur now Janie.

Mine and Jerry's internet was down most the yesterday, guess lighting got it. Came back up bout 5, funny thing is, it seems to be working better than it had for awhile.

Still got rain in the forecast for, but mild temps at least. Suppose to be like this another5-6 days. You can tell cabin fevers had really set in round here. This warmer weather sure has every one hopes looking up for summer. I've been laying out garden plans and picking up seed. Bryans started talking cooking plans for campgrond A. #1 son told me yesterday when he figures on our trout fishing trips to MO, and so on.

DICK, it is a long way cross this state. Where we live is 4 1/2- 5 to the chicago loop, then  another hour to the WI. line,  4 hours from Paduca, KY, and 2 1/2 -3 hours to St. Louis. Speed limit here is 55 or 60, unless on the interstate 65.

SCOTT glad you got your car back, looks like they did a good repair in the photos.

COLBY, tell Alex, I've got a couple old tyco transformers, I can make him a deal on.

No big plans for today, may go cut some campground firewood [if the rain holds off] and do some chores rounds here + get in some train time. Hope ya'll has a gooden, catch ya laters

Good Morning,

Inch: If you're running a DSL or cable modem the ISP sends updates to the modem's firmware to improve service.  SBC (At&t) told me they do their upgrades on Wednesdays at 4pm.  You need to reboot the modem to take advantage of these improvements.  Same thing with cell phones, however the tech didn't know what day you should turn off your phone and turn it back on again.

Sue: the layout looks really good.  I need to get back to work on the L.S.& W. here soon.

Jeff: those pancakes look really good!

Inch, I hear you on the cabin fever - we're supposed to be reaching the 80's (F) today and tomorrow! 'bout like summer has arrived ahead of spring. Cool [8D]

G'Mornin' ALL!

Inch...... while we're doing the geography stuff.  Many people don't realized just how far south the southern end of IL is. Actually, southern IL near Ohio River is rather scenic.

I grew up in the Land of Lincoln, and now that's why I'm doing mostly CB&Q.  I've lived in about a half dozen other states and now am within 75 min. from IL border at Paducah in the Land Between The Lakes area.  I'd like to see the Montecello Museum some day.  The IL Ry museum in Union is outstanding.  A bit far from here!

Looks like my idea of working on the layout today are about to be shoved aside by an overdose of beautiful Spring weather.  Sunny 60 F; forecast for later is sunny 80 F.  Terrible. Just terrible.

der......... I'll rub it in (so to speak) ..........I'm washing the vehicles with a hose, bucket, and sponge.  You know. Like a normal person. Smile [:)]

bye...........

Good morning everyone...43F here today so far, as a mini cold front swung south last night. We "were" supposed to get about 2" of snow overnight, but the sun rose with blue skies and "0" snow overnight..........ask me if I am upset with that ?? LOL

MIKE: I guess we tend to lose sense of size of states here in the New England, where only Maine is big in size. Do you live in Millville, or is that where your camper is for a getaway in summer?

SCOTT: Your wheels look great Scott, now all you have to do is, be careful of "certain" drivers in parking lots...LOL

CAPE JIM: Got me on that one !!! I wasn't sure if Mike lived in Millville or if that was where the summer camper was.

DER JOHN: Thanks for reminding me, I have to do my taxes also. I was able to wash the car yesterday as the temp rose to near 50F and the garden hose on the house reel unfroze. It was nice to get all the salt and dirt off the car to see the actual color of the car again. We have a lot of bare ground showing now, after the 17" a week ago. Still high piles along the bankings though. We have a nice warmup coming next week, temps in 60's by Tuesday, and the front will pass all the way north through Nova Scotia too.

Good evening everyone, just back from Saturday Mass and dinner at the local restaurant. It is all clouded over now, and the weather forecast is for 3-6" of snow starting about 8pm lasting until 4am. They said not to waste our time shoveling the snow, as it will melt fast on Sunday with warmer temps.....have no fear Mr Weatherman, I have no intention of shoveling any more this season...end of story !!

LUC: Our prayers continue for Gloria, and for your family Luc.

MIKE: Ahhh, I see that you live near the North Fork river, or , are you closer to the Mill River? Just off  I-70.......I see, ...we practically live on the same road Mike!! All you need to do is hop onto I-70, head east, pick up I-69 in Indianapolis headed northeast to I-90, and there you are!! I-90 goes straight to Boston, Ma, just stop about 45 miles before you hit the ocean and there is little Cherry Valley, just north of the Pike. I see that some of our early settlers from this area also settled in Illinois. Just look at the Southeast corner of Rockford, Illinois..........Cherry Valley, Illinois, just off .........you guessed it,........ I-90!!!!!

JERRY: Nice haul on your shopping spree!!!! Lucky dog !!!!!

Good Evening, Chloe - I'll have the steak and fresh aspargus special tonight,

with a nice glass of wine since I won't be driving for a while tonight. Dinner [dinner] Thank you, Dick. Smile [:)]

Luc, sorry to hear that Gloria had to go in the hospital - we will be keeping her in our Angel [angel]Angel [angel]. I realize you have other things to tend to now, but as you can, keep us posted (or have someone else do it for you) on Glo's progress.

Congrats on your (coming) 2-8-0, Hoople. I'd agree with Jerry that the Consolidation is a nice locomotive. Only one I might like better in a steam loco would be a Mikado or a Pacific. The hard part will be waiting for it to make its way westward to you.

Dick, good to hear that the weatherguessers aren't predicting any accumulating snow still this season for you. Now, if we could get you some of the nice weather we had today out here in the Midwest like Inch, Jerry and I had, that'd be even nicer for you. Yeah!! [yeah]

I got out the short sleeve shirts today, and turned on the ceiling fan in the kitchen and the oscialating rotating fan in the bedroom today to move some air through the apartment. I'm not ready to turn on the A/C just yet... So long as we had enough of a cold spell earlier to kill off most of the mosquito eggs so we don't have to start swatting yet. Don't want that! Shock [:O]Wink [;)]

Chloe, that dinner was great - now, could I have an ice cream float, please? Thank you, ma'am.

Today I also used another coupon at Hobby Lobby and picked up a Woodland Scenics landscaping kit (about $9 with taxes). With that, a WS pine trees kit and a trees kit, plus some Sears paint I picked up a while back for the base ground color and a couple of bags of WS fine earth material, I might be able to get most of the two sections I have scenicked (or fairly close)!

Tonight, I'm planning on getting back to installing KD's on some more of my freight cars, plus some playing with some track design programs (TrainPlayer Mac beta version I'm testing for them, and RailModeller). Going to see what I can come up with for additional sections (1 or 2, anyway). Also I'll doodle with some ideas for the church design I didn't get to the last weekend (or was that the one before that...Confused [%-)] )

Blessings and prayers, for Luc, Gloria and their family, plus all the others in need of them.

Evening Gang:

Luc: My prayers for Gloria. If you need us we're here.

Scott: The car looks good. Im glad they did a good job for you.

I haven't been in in the last 2 days. Our daughter and grand kids came in Thursday night and I haven't been able to get to the puter. We took them to Six Flags today. I don't miss that place one bit.

I have to get ready for supper so I'll say good Night.

Well I've been buying for the last 2 days for the kids so why should it be any different here? Belly up and have at it.

LUC, prayers for Gloria and the family

DICK, we're bout 18 mile from the Wabash river and 17 from the Embarras river [pronouced em-bra], along I-70 and US-40. The easiest way to find us on a map, is find the county where the Wabash becomes the state line, thats Clark county.

Here's the pics of the Villa Grove round house,

The building is not in to bad a shape, the roofs starting to come off and a couple walls a starting to buckle, but not beyond repair yet. Still have a few more pics from up that way I can post of some other building still there.

Got another nice warm day in store again, before the rains move back in for the week, so it'll be back to some outside chores later today. Didn't get any train time in yesterday, we had kids till bout 9 last night. Might slip some in during the race this afternoon. Best get around, catch ya'll laters, have a gooden

Also to BUMP! the page up and keep it on page 1.

Luc, I hope Gloria gets better soon.  2 of my co-workers had clots in their lungs after an operation, but they didn't listen to the Doc when he told them to rest. Both of you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Seems the room has been in some rough times medicaly over the last 6 months.  I think we all need to model a doctors office and place it on our layouts someplace, LOL.
