Rob: I just put some very fine sand on the boom and painted over it. The marks on the hooks were made with a brush that has only three bristles.

Tracklayer,
My heart and sympathies are with you. I totally understand your feelings. You are a noble gentleman.

OK the rest of you...
I have a picture of my newest addition to the family and the light of my life at the moment. Since I've been ill this little fella' and I nap together every afternoon from 2 to 3. He has the most infectuous smile and laugh and does wonders for my mental and physical well being.
His name is Sean.

***Jeffrey, nice rust! It appears that you left a little silver showing where chains/cable/etc would be slung through the hook...very nice attention to detail. What was your technique for weathering/rusting that crane?

Hi gang. Just thought I'd check in and update those of you who are interested in knowing the following.

As some of you know, my beloved 14 year old beautiful tabby cat and friend Tiger was killed by a neighbors dog last wednesday evening, and when I approached the guy about it he wanted to drag me out of my truck and beat my brains out while other neighbors watched - which I wish he would have because I would not only have filed charges against him for assault, but would have also sued him for everything he owned... Anyways. We've all spent the past week celebrating Tiger's life and the good memories we had of him, and have finally accepted his untimely passing as best we can. I was told today that the guy that was so ready to beat me to death last week went down to the local animal shelter and made a $100.00 donation in Tiger's name as a jesture of good will, and to show that he was in fact sorry about what happened. I don't want to be mortal enemies with this guy, but then, we'll never be the best of buddies either. I'd just like for us to forgive one another, chalk Tiger's death up as a lesson learned for us both and go on being neighbors like we always have. There's already enough hate, meanness and ill feelings in this world without us adding to it...

[Cederstrand, well with PC being Z- scale now sure why not have 2nd piece, just check it so you dont eat him!]

***Thanks for the warning, I'll try to check it closely. My oldest brother tells me Z-scale does exist, and that he has some of those wee little critters living under his bed these days. I'll have to take his word for it though, because my eyes will not focus in macro-mode.Wink [;)]Laugh [(-D]

Any pie I icecream left? Ready for seconds. I admit, I can be a glutton when it comes to sweets.

***Paul, that 2-6-0 sounds like it will be a neat one. Hey, did you have to use the loader to remove your tractor from the deep sand? Hope you wake up without the headache.

I did some bushhogging today, mostly weeds out there right now. Our well held up today to fill two horse troughs for the back and middle pastures. Whew, every time I run water like that I just cross my fingers and toes.

Evening Gang: Well another day on the big loader. I got the creek crossing cleaned out, but it needs some touch up with the smaller tractors. I tried with mine but the sand is so soft that it sank to the axles. It's going to have to dry up some and then we'll have to lay down some clay and gravel. Right now I haave a splitting headach so I'm going to go to bed. I'll see you all tomorrow.

Almost forgot. I need some drawings, pictures, or other information on Colorado & Southern 2-6-0 # 22. My friend who built my locomotive is building one in 2 1/2 inch scale 7 1/2 inch gauge.

please & thank you! Dinner [dinner]

***Gryphon, are you going to share a photo of that scene you described (inspired by Jeffrey's old abandoned loco photo)? Sounds like a winner.

***Inch, is that 1939 track still in use?

In front of my computer now sits the recently purchased 2-8-0. It joins a few others on display, waiting for the day when they can run free. I'm half tempted to set up an oval just for a quick fix. All I have is a strait test track tucked behind some cabinet doors in the studio. Still trying to figure out how to obtain a Kato 90Mac. Bet that one would really dislike sitting out on display with nothing to do. One day!

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers

Nothing to report from the orange grove.  We made the attempt, but the cable operated car ferry that we need to use to cross the river between us and the grove was still out of service due to the high water from all the rains we've had.  The river level rises, the current gets pretty strong, and a lot of tree trunks, limbs and other debris gets carried down.  They usually drop the cables and pull the float over to one side for a few days when this happens.  Maybe tomorrow.  We'll see if they get it back in operation.

Inch - congrats on getting another of your pictures selected in "Railfan Images of the Week" over on TrainBoard.  It's the one of the Effingham yard.  Anyone who wants to see that shot and the others selected this week can find them at the following link:

http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=91424

Duke, nice photos from the race.

Jeffrey - looks like you're enjoying your new cameras.  Good luck.

Scott - enjoy the road trip and the training sessions.

Later

Ed

Evening, a barley pop Cloe please

Haven't been a round much, but to get a quick to-go cup, things kinda busy this past few days. I'm so far behind, not going to try n catch up much. But PC hope your girl's finger heals ok. I remember the sprained and broken fingers from the kids. They always seemed to hurt the same one, then want show it off..

JERRY good to hear Sally's still doing great, hope she gets home soon.

ROB,, I feel for you. We kept my grandma for a couple weeks, [the doc,s messed up her meds, which messed up her mind] till we could get her into a nursing home, and it was rough. Without the help of friends and family, we wouldn't have made it.

JEFF, sorry to hear of the trouble on the WPF, but remember you can't win an argument with a know it all idiot.

Spent part of the weekend at the campground, but the corn is so tall, railfanning from there is purrty well done till harvest. Did do some Sunday afternoon, headed west to Neoga, where the IC and NKP crossed. Now it's where the EILRR interchanges with the CN/IC.

Looking north towards Charleston,

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g214/inch53/005-3.jpg

Wasn't anything around but some cars, but did find some interesting shots

This one will give you an idea of how long the tracks been around in use

Headed to Effingham down IL-45, I got some pics from there to post laters.

Just want to say I've enjoyed the pics that's been posted and all the other layout updates and such. Thoughts for all those in need, hope ya'll has a gooden n stay safe

Finally, I've got a good clear shot of one of my SD40-2's, KCS 666.

Pc: This was taken with the Vivitar. It didn't take me long to find the macro setting.

It's looking like rain here and getting more humid by the minute.

It's no problem.  It's like any other kit....just smaller.  You use the same techniques, just smaller tools sometimes.
