Good evening, Chloe - (If there's any left...) I'll have a piece of PC's birthday cake, with a cup of coffee, please.

Sue, my guess would be that PC would like BOTH!!Laugh [(-D]

Way too busy day at work today - no lunchtime off, and much difficulty finding hospital beds for a couple of clients... And not even a full moon to blame it on! Shock [:O]

Got MRR club meeting tonight, so I'd better finish up my dessert and coffee and be on my way. See everyone later tonight!

Oh well, looks like I'm covering the dessert (and late dinner) crew! Chloe, keep a tab for me and I'll settle up after I get back. Hmm... and Dick snuck in a post ahead of me - hey, cut that out!

Blessings (including for the Birthday Boy!),

Good evening everyone, another cloudy day here, high humidity, a shower a few minutes ago and more due tonight and tomorrow before it clears out for Wednesday and the next 7 days. No more 90's or 80's for at least the next 7 days, it looks like Summer heat may be gone for this season. 70's are ideal, I'll take that for sure.

Got to work in the Train room today, more cleaning and organizing before I start in earnest on the layout design now that the "Gate" issue has been solved. I think it was worth the exercise though, as it would be very time consuming to pull things apart later.

PC: Happy Birthday Philip !!!!!! Happy B-Day [bday]  But unless you are over 60, you cannot use the term " OF ( old  fart ). Here is the age breakdown as set by the old bucks:

Under 40: YF,  40-49 MAF,  50-59 AF, 60-69 OF, 70-79 ROF, 80-89 UOF, 90+ KOF

YF= Young Fart, MAF= Middle Age Fart, AF= Aged Fart,  OF= Old Fart, ROF= Really Old Fart, UOF= Ultra Old Fart, KOF= King Old Fart Laugh [(-D] These rules were set years ago by the then KOF.

JERRY: Ahhhhh Hurricane Express, with John Wayne......a good one with lots of action !!! Enjoy !!

STEVE: It wasn't Jeff with the gate, nor was it Dave...go back and check the last two days in the Diner....Wink [;)]

JIM: October is fast approaching, and raise time for SS recipiants. Last year we received 2.9% while the cost of living rose over 9% ( the REAL cost of living not what the government states based on bogus accounting trickery ) Soooooo, if you are not working hard enough, the GDP will not be sufficient to allow for a good raise to match COL. WORK HARDER, whip, whip, whip.Laugh [(-D]

ED: The Red Sox need to take all three from Tampa Bay, and Toronto "must" take at least ONE game from the Yankees. If this happens, the Yankees would be 6 1/2 games behind coming to Boston next Friday for three games. That way, if there is another meltdown, the worse the Red Sox would be is 3 1/2 ahead of the Yankees.

The rooms length is fourteen feet and the width is seven feet, eight inches. The layout is a little over ten feet long on it's long side, where it butts up against the kitchen sink, and six and a half feet long on the short side, where it's stopped by the door to the outside.

This is a shot of part of the town backdrop from a distance.

These are close up. It's not really much to look at.

Well, Jeff's going to stay nice and toasty down south, but around Indianapolis it's beginning to head into fall.  A cool down is expected this week with temps in the 70's for most of the week.  Today will probably be the warmest day of the week.

Now, as for today, I'm going to take off work early today.  Figure I'll head out about 2:30 or so.  See, the thing is, I don't want to work too hard on my birthday!  Yeah, thats right!  I'm an older fart today!  (I'd say old fart, but that happened a few years ago.)

So whats up with all of you?

Kind of foggy here this morning, and some possible rain today, but geting up to 87 F (31 C) by the afternoon. Probably muggy, as well.Grumpy [|(]

Dick, I bet you're pleased to have that gate done and all braced/supported. Will look forward to seeing your pics when you get them posted.

Well, I'll be finishing up my coffee and donut over in the window booth until it's time for me to go earn Dick's check... Wink [;)] Then I will be stopping by later in the day after the W-thing.

My layout doesn't have a swingout. I crawl underneath to get to the access areas.

Good morning, all.

I'm about to go and get my first cup of coffee.  Brought a box of work home to try to get through here at home away from the telephone.  Had a great day yesterday.  Judy and I had lunch with our friends from Sunday School.  She brought her grandson over later and we went swimming and grilled salmon.  HEB still has King salmon from Alaska.  After its gone, we're back to farm raised.

Jeff, any possibility that you could post a photo of your swing out?  I don't think that I have room for one but I would like to see yours.  I've used a gate for 20+ years with good results, but I bet the gate would be easier to use.

Ed, I enjoyed the photo of you and your son in my train room.  I bet Paco has grown over the past 2 years!  Do you have a layout there?

Well, I think I'll go and get a cup of coffee and start my day.  I hope that the week treats all of you well!

Good evening.....the clouds rolled in late yesterday and we had off n on showers and rain, nothing substantial, only 0.16" today, a teaser for the lawns and gardens.

This gave me the break I needed to get back to the train room. I finally, completed the gate!!!! I tried a lift out, a swing Up, a swing down, but nothing pleased me, then on Friday the light came ON. I re-arranged the north end of the room where the working and storage area is, which gave me the room I need to design a swing-out gate. The gate is "L" shaped, 14" wide for the 1st 1 foot, then 22" for the remaining 44". Due to the "L" shape and the rather long gate, the cantilever effect was too great not to use legs at the end away from the hinges. I inserted roller wheels in the bottom of the two legs which worked just great. I also used 3 exterior door hinges for extra support, as I do not want to have track alignment problems at either end of the gate. I will post some photos hopefully tomorrow.

JEFF: Your video really gives us an excellent overview of your layout, the pieces of the mental puzzle now all come together. I assume you took this video with the movie mode of your new camera??

ED: I really sweat out the game today, 3-2 was far too close for comfort, Josh pitched a great game, and the relief guys did their job well. And the Patriots did a number on the Jets.. I don't know if J.R. is a Pats fan or now, he is closer to NY even though he lives in New England.

I am too tired tonight to go any further, all day in the train room and to the garage to the saw, back and forth, on my knees, off my knees, watching the games, back to the train room...BED TIME!!!

Evening, Diners, and I'll just have a hot chocolate since it's late.

Trip to the train show was pretty good, and I got some reasonable deals on a couple of buildings, a VW van, a year of back issues of MR (which I didn't have already), couple of WP boxcars. Saw a T-shirt that reminded me of a couple of guys in here:

Good to hear that Teffy's doing okay - thanks for the info, and Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Steve B./BaylorMax! Also good to hear that Stephanie's better. Thumbs Up [tup]

More nice pics, Inch and Jeff! Bow [bow]

Well, I'd better get going - wCensored [censored]k awaits tomorrow...
