Good morning, Zoe - I'll have a glass of Ed's OJ,

a cup of TH

,

and one of these cinnamon rolls,

please. Yep, Zoe, you're right - the second box is the sugar-free ones.

BaylorMax (Steve), that's one nice thing I hear about grandkids - that you get to send 'em back to their mom & dad and catch a rest! Wink [;)] Hope the air conditioner guys get there quick tomorrow morning!

Fairly cool here this morning - 57 F (14 C), but it doesn't look like we have the fog we had the last couple of mornings. Still supposed to get to 78 F (26 C) this afternoon, so should be another great afternoon in Cape G. I didn't run any fans last night, since it was fairly cool and I had some of the windows open.

Well, I'll be getting going; need to get ready for 9 a.m. service. Hope you all have great weather - and that the Cardinals trounce the Cubs this afternoon! (No offense meant, Inch Wink [;)])

Blessings,

Condolences for some, Congrats for others , Prayers for all.  If I offend anyone with my brevity, sorry. English not my best subject in school. Thoughts go through my head faster than I can write. What can be added to all that has already been posted. I agree with almost everything stated. Inch, cute babe, Jeff, great pics and modeling. Steve, Teffy brought me to your home in late June of 2005. I'm the one that jinxed your signals. Your brass passenger cars that you painted are a standout.

Welcome to the newbies.welcome back to the oldtimers, and yeah, I'm one of them.

Good morning, all!

Well, Hurricane Humberto left us and is not lamented.  I got power back Friday afternoon.  However, the train room, kitchen, dining room and living room are still hot.  My air conditioner on that side of the house went out just before the hurricane and the a/c folk could not install a new one until I got power back.  Now they tell me they can come tomorrow, Monday, to put the new unit in.  That means that the train room will be cool for our normal Tuesday night get together.

Inch, what a great looking grandchild!  Any signs yet that he (or is it she) will like trains?Smile [:)]

Ed, the thought of home made tamales just makes my mouth water!  Real Mexican cooking is nothing like the Tex Mex we get here in Beaumont.  I remember the trips my late wife and I made to Mexico over the years and the wonderful food with its fresh fruits, vegetables, and seafoods.  Oh, the Bohemia Cerveza was good, too!

Jeff, your layout is really coming along.  I'm enjoying the pictures!

Well, the coffee is brewed so I think I'll go and get a cup.  Then it's off to 8:15 service.  Judy's daughter is coming back from France today so I'm going with Judy over to Houston to pick her up.  That means that Judy can deliver her grandson, who's 5 and very, very active, back to his Mom!  Judy's had him for 10 days including through the hurricane and I think she's about ready to give him back to his Mom.

Have a great Sunday, all!

Evening, Diners - Diners?Confused [%-)] Janie, did they all go to bed before I got here? Dangit! Well, please fix me up a go cup of hot cocoa, then.

Jeff, I think part of what makes that 'night' backdrop pic look so neat, is that the light is coming from the left side and just skimming the backdrop. Flat-on lighting wouldn't give the same effect. Thumbs Up [tup]

Ed, good to hear that you finally go to the grove, you... uh,... (let's see, would ye be a mad dog, or an Englishman, hmm,... mad dog or Englishman...)Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]...  Whistling [:-^] Whistling [:-^] Whistling [:-^] Oh, nevermind!

Garry, my cold is now mostly a little bit of runny nose once in a while, and some slight pressure in my right ear. Quite manageable, but I'll be glad when it all gets gone. Maybe I'll have to try Dick's other remedy for that. Wink [;)] I think some of whatever I've got's due to some seasonal allergies, since I've had some people at the Center where I work who've described having somewhat similar symptoms. Maybe it'll get burned out about next mid-week, when it warms back up a few days.

Well, Jerry and Nscaler, the Cardinals got the second game right today. Now, they need to stay on track for the NL pennant (and then the Series). Yeah!! [yeah]

Found out a nice thing tonight at the dinner (before the singles went to play miniature golf) about the lady I've been interested in from the group (haven't been too sure, since she's a fair bit younger than me, so I'm not sure how she might feel about the difference). Turned out she has an iMac (which someone donated to her), and before she got that, she had another Mac. Big Smile [:D] I kidded her that my opinion of her had moved up two notches because I found out that. (Now, need to find out how she feels about model railroading...) (As he crosses his fingers and toes...)

Time for this guy to head for home and bedtime. See you all tomorrow!

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,

We were tuckered out last night and didn't get around to posting.  Tired because we actually got to head out to the orange grove to do some work.  We found out during the morning that the car ferry was running, so we packed up our stuff and headed out.  Of course, that meant we were working during the hottest part of the day.  What was that old song about "Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noonday sun..."?  Cool [8D]  I'm just glad I don't do this for a living.

The grove looks good.  The mandarin oranges are starting to get some color on them.  The recent rains have really helped.

We got quite a haul of stuff, including bananas (the frying kind), some not quite ripe mandarin oranges (good for orangeade), some misc oranges from branches that had broken (also for orangeade), limes, a couple kilos of chili pequin (the little hot ones) and papayas.  Maybe most important, we brought home a bunch of banana leaves which get used to wrap the mixture when we make tamales.  Sister-in-law does most of the tamale cooling around here, while we supply the ingredients.  We're not talking a couple of tamales, here, when they do it it's a big production.  So a big batch (maybe 120 (+/-) or so got cooked up today.  Yum!

But, even with the harvest starting, I'm envious of those of you up north who are starting to see fall weather.  I really miss it.

Inch - congrats on the new grandchild.

Hasta mañana,

Ed

Evening Gang:

Garry I'm still looking for information. Terry is going full bore on the project. He built our first 2 locomotives in 14 months so it may not take very long for this one to hit the rails.

Inch, She is a real cutie. Congratulations.

I got over to the track to fire up this afternoon but got side tracked. I did get the brake shoe on the left side fixed and then the track owner and I went to lunch. When we got back we pulled up a couple of chairs and shot the breeze. We haden't done that in some time. This may be confusing but Terry Mc Grath is the track owner and Terry Mc Cally is the guy that is the builder of locomotives. We also had a nother Terry, Terry Adams. He hasn't been active lately. To avoid confusion we called them Terry 1,2,and 3.

Jeff: That's the picture that I was reffering to also. It is really good.

It's time to go to bed.

Good Night All

The haze is part of the backdrop picture and creates a sense of distance. Being that it's a night shot helps too.

Hello

Root beer float here would be good, too.

Jim........... glad you received it.  Have you recovered from that cold or whatever it was?

I actually took a sanity break in the layout room this afternoon. I operated some trains and switched the industries in Prairie View. Also, I'm slowly (very slowly) working on a model of a Burlington GP20. I got a nice deal on a Hobbytown drive (Free!), and recently acquired a GP20 shell for it. It's hard for me to believe it's now been over 45 years since EMD made the prototype. Yikes! Where did the time go?

Happyt model railroading, everyone.

Gorgeous Fall Afternoon, Janie - I'll have one of those root beer floats, please!

JIM CG / JERRY, how bout those Cubs last night, pulling it out at the last minute.

All right, no need to rub it in, Inch!Evil [}:)] - Besides, there's enough games left in the season for the Cards to catch back up. Yeah!! [yeah] Cute grandbaby there, and nice railfan shots, too! Thumbs Up [tup] Is that an MP15 at the back of that three-hitch, or is it just the camera angle?

Beautiful afternoon here in Cape G., and only 64 F (19 C) right now. Supposed to reach 72 F later in the afternoon, then drop off into the 40's tonight.  My sinus/allergy thing's still sort of there, but not bad, and I'm not even sure the earache is there. Lovely afternoon light - this time of the year has a really nice golden tone to it.Smile [:)]

I picked up the MR special Freight Yards issue today (at the grocery store) - has some nice articles in it, including one that has some structures that I know would look good somewhere on my layout (current or later additions).

Oh, Jeff - that engine house roof almost looks like it may need some shoring up, so it doesn't drop in, the rust looks so heavy on it.Wink [;)] Thumbs Up [tup] I like the shot out the  office window of the tanks, too.

Garry, got your package today (finally went by the post office) - thanks! I really appreciate that. Bow [bow]Smile [:)]

I'm going to take my float by the window seats and watch for the afternoon trains. Hope everyone is having this good weather (or pretty close to it, at least), and can get a chance to enjoy it.

Blessings and prayers,

Good morning.  Fiber cereal and OJ for me. I appreciate the offer for donuts, but I'd better not eat any of them.

Inch....... cute baby!......... It's neat that you and I have younger family members in Champaign. My son and his recent bride are there.

Fergie... thanks for taking the time to explain all of that. Here, Shelley is responsible for everything regarding Janet's estate with no help from family members.  I don't think Shelley should do it all herslf, and I do all I can to assist Shelley with everything. It's how it was while Janet was with us. Janet had no help from familiy members during the recent period in which Janet was living in this area (1 1/2 years). The church on the other hand was more than helpful. We had moved Janet from Florida at our expense to remove her from some deplorable living conditions. Janet had already turned her life over to the Lord when we did that. We were trying to work with her so she could rebuild when she became ill. The local Christian recovery group here again was very helpful. She was progressing, but health issues caught up with her. Janet died peacefully in the hospital bed. Shelley held Janet's hand and spoke softly as Janet's heart rate dropped below 5 beats per minute. The rate had dropped to one beat/minute when the pastor arrived. He said a very beautiful prayer. When the pastor said "Amen", the monitor signaled to the doctors that her heart had stopped. At that monent, God took his child. When Janet was young she unfortunately followed differant paths than did Shelley. It's all very sad. As for the estate, Shelley is making sure that all remaining assets are donated to Christian programs and charities.

BTW, Fergie, I recall seeing red ships across the harbor on our fateful trip to Halifax.  I think I was told they were the Canadian coast guard ships. I wonder if you were on one when we were here.

Paul....... Are you still looking for C&S 2-6-0 stuff.  I found some info in my Colorado books.

Happy Model Railroading

Hey all.

Haven't been in in awhile, so I came.

There was another dance yesterday, this one was much better than last week's. The gym was 5x bigger, they played better music, and best, I got to slowdance with this girl I met there.

A little soccer update: Last week we killed the other team, 7-0. I wish Flashwave was there to throw pies at them afterwards. I actually have a soccer game at 9. Let's go YELLOW!!!

Jeff: Your work never ceases (SP?) to amaze me. I really like the roof detail, and how the rust brings it out. Wanna do my gravel plant?

Well, gotta get ready to roll,

Mark

Edit: I just found out my challenger is scheduled to arrive on thursday! WOOO!

Welcome to our World of days gone past. I finally lost it and went ballistic on my Son's grade 5 teacher (She was a proper idiot on all accounts). Almost got banned from the school but after a letter to the Superintendent of the School board and reminding them of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and a subsequent education session with the School Board Physcologist in tow we made our point! The School Board now supplies both our sons with "Writers" The eldest one being a High honours student.

Dick: Don't I know it but looking at the Sea surface temp maps it looks like they are being drawn into the Gulf. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! As much as I miss my Dad and I dearly miss him I must confess this past month has made me realize "For everything there is a season".

Garry: In some ways I have it relatively easy as I am a single child there is no squabling over who's entitled to what. The day he died was he day the movers showed up with his belongings from the previous house so most of it was tagged and sorted. Dad had prepared most of his papers and affairs and kept me abreast of it all. We also transferred several accounts into joint custody a year ago so the probate court would'nt be able to get their hands on it and tax it. So saying that it' not something I've enjoyed or felt good about. Hard old go but Lisa and her Mother have been very supportive. And on another notr if the family gives you grief just remind them as the executor you are entitled to a fee for sorting the estate and if I'm not mistaken it's 20% of all assests. I've been told it keeps everyone in line real quick!

Inch: I'm sure you'll agree with me as tough as it is and has been it will be ended with a big sigh of relief when it's all said and done.

Anyway we have a busy day ahead of us
