Mornin' all!

Back to normal (whatever that is) today!  FINALLY!  Yesterdays doctor visits are over and I'm back to work today.  I'm likin' it!

Looks like a nice day out there too!  The final few days of summer will end up warm and dry with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Our normal high is now 76 degrees. High pressure should dominate the weather through the weekend. Temperatures as of 5am this morning range from 70 degrees in Indy to 59 degrees in Bloomington. You might encounter a little patchy fog and haze for awhile.

Mornin, steak n eggs with a side of grits and coffee Zoe.

Sunny with highs in the upper 80's today and through the next few days, looks like the AC will be running up the bill again.

RYAN,, enjoyed the update on the roundhouse projects. They'll be no Santa duties for me; I don't like Christmas anymore, Not for what it's suppose to stand for, but what it's become. I've already had words with a store manager on putting out decorations in the middle of August including Xmas trees. Mother said she just can't take me anywhere anymore.

Texas STEVE,,I'll try n keep not think any different of you, since my BIL is a lawyer too.

DICK,, we've got 4 trees to take down this fall, one a dying soft maple. I've lost 5 maples in a couple years now, they just start dying from the top down.

JIM CG,, the families short, moms 4'10" and see my post to Ryan on the Xmas duties.

JERRY,, still don't know on Rockome yet. Still waiting to see how the money and some other things play out. If we do it'll be on Saturday, got kids football Sun..

PAUL, hope you get the pit settled soon, so your mind will rest easier. Things like that can wear hard on ya at times.

Best got moving, Leroy will be here afore long. Good thing is when he catches the bus, no kids till Monday, bad thing is, I've got too much to get done, starting with Mother's oven, it's acting up now. Hope ya'll has a gooden an stay safe

Good Evening, Chloe - I see I picked the purrrrfect time to come in (right after PC hit the TOTP!). Smile [:)]  Think I'll have the sirloin steak - medium - with baked potato and brocolli, please, and a glass of milk.Dinner [dinner]

Yep, I'll have a slice of apple pie with some vanilla ice cream on the top, too.

Thanks, PC! Yeah!! [yeah] (Guarding the pie as he slips past PC...) Hmm, might even have my dessert first.Wink [;)]

Hang in there on the Pit, Paul. Can you sic the EPA on the UP, and let them cover more of the lawyer tab? Just a thought for you.

Think I'd better be working on my (late) dinner for now - almost time to head for home and bedtime. Didn't look at the clock when I came in here. But I'll finish off my dinner before I go, for sure.

Blessings and prayers for those in need of them tonight,

Hi Gang:

Garry: I printed out the information and will give it to Terry.

Not much today in MRRing. Mary Ann and I spent the afternoon with our lawyer about the Pit. I guess we will be sueing over it. Right now I'm all tensed up and really just want to hide out for a bit. I'll check in later tonight. Maybe I'll feel better then. Maybe I'll try a shot of MRRing.

'Nuther day for the [ugh!] paperwCensored [censored]k. Saw one client, and my other one rescheduled (was sickly today, she said). So more time to dig into the paper mountain...

Steve/BaylorMax, liked your MR article. Can you write a follow-up one for me, since I use Macs? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Hope your LHS trip (I mean, trip to see your client...) goes well (and you find some good bargains in there). I guess you don't want me to send you my file of lawyer jokes? Wink [;)]Whistling [:-^]

Inch, you looked taller than I expected in the family pic. Or was everybody else just shorter? Wink [;)] I'd about second Ryan's suggestion for your possible Christmas duty, the beard is a natural for that.

And Ryan, you've been taking rust lessons from Jeff, I'd say! Oops [oops] Thanks for the info on the spacer between the rails in the roundhouse, too.

Well, time for me to chow down on this burger and fries.  Hope everyone's getting some warmer fall weather today. We're actually in a bit of a drought here locally, so if that rain they're talking about for next Monday or Tuesday arrives, it will be appreciated here. But PC, I think you're right, a lot of it's going to head more toward Inch and Jerry's direction (and across the Lakes) than near either of us.

Good afternoon to all......just dropped in for a minute, today I am in the middle of transplanting 150 strawberry plant runners for next year's crop. I also tried to start the 18hp lawn tractor this morning but the battery was real low so I have a trickle charge on it now, hopefully it will start when I go out to the shed in a few minutes. That is what happens when you gave a drought and haven't used the tractor in weeks.

The weather is just spectacular!!! Dark blue sunny skies, temps in the 70's, very low humidity, and this is going to hold for at least the next 8 days!!! Ahhh, nothing better than early Fall in New England....no mud, no bugs, no clouds, no rain, just ideal weather.

And, as if that isn't enough to keep me from the Train room, we have three big Maple trees that are just about dead near the house. All the same variety of Maple tree. I see no signs of insect infestation, the bark looks OK, etc. The other varieties of Maple trees around the yard are just fine. So, I have three to take down, each is about 36" in circumference, and 10 to 15 feet from the house, so this will take some very careful workmanship. We tackle one of them on Saturday when two of my sons will be available to help.

PC: Drink your Orange Juice !!!!!!! How many times do I have to tell you young man !!!!

ED: As you can see, people are in bad need of OJ. All of my younger grandkids have colds. Two weeks back to school and now the adults all have colds also. Around the room layout, very nice ED!!! And the storage underneith is real handy!!!!

Time to run, far too much to do outside ...

Morning folks!

I'll have some of that cool clear spring water....oh, and a Hot Cup O' Joe too!

Mike - great to see the new addition to the family and the reunion photo too! Looks like the beard is all ready for the Santa duties this year!

Ed - thanks for the OJ update, Chloe says they have a bit of empty space in the back cold storage for the next shipment. Glad you liked the turntable progress; I have another date with that project on Friday.

Phillip - glad to hear that you are feeling better, hope the doctor visits go well today!

Steve - I'll take Garry's advice and hold off on the lawyer jokes! I bet you have a few to tell too eh! I hope your client gets a good settlement, but the hobby shop visit sounds like more fun!

Garry - What you been doing in Nashville? Glad you liked the website; I spend a lot of time updating it, almost more time than I spend in the train room.

Mornin all!

Feeling better today!  Gotta take the wife and son to the bad doctors (Muscular Dystrophy docs) today, so I'm off work for another day.  Those trips are always bad.  I'll be playing dotor all night tonight.

Hot and humid air will be the rule of thumb today! Highs will be in the mid to upper 80's.  Here is a map of highs across the area.  Hotter air is building across the west, and will gradually move towards us over the next several days.   There is a cold front that will move towards the area, but it will weaken, and lift north as it passes by.  Figures, huh?  For right now it's not bad though.

Well, I'm off and running!

I pray that today finds you all well!

Oh, and Ed.....thanks!  Somehow I just knew you'd have my back! Wink [;)]

Good morning, all!

Off to Houston today to look at some equipment that caused an injury to a client of mine.  It's a device that fits onto a cable that attaches to a cable that runs up a ladder.  If someone slips off the ladder, it's supposed to stop them, much like a safety on an elevator.  It didn't and my client free fell about 90 feet.  He's alive, but pretty broken up.  He was working derricks on a drilling rig in Texas.

Yes, I'm a lawyer.

The good news is that I'm going to drop in on Papa Ben's in Houston.  That's my chosen hobby shop and has great service and is clean.  Even my girlfriend doesn't mind going there!

Having a train get together this weekend at my house.  The group has a bunch of shows and layout openings coming up and we're going to use this Saturday to tune up our equipment so that hopefully it will run well when exposed to the public.

Have a great day!  Phil, I hope you are feeling better!

Steve

Hi Rob,

you are right the modular building method is the way to go when building a layout if room is hard to come by.  Of course when moving every once in a while like myself it is essential to build modular.  One thing that I discovered is that there is an awful lot of room available above the door frame.  So with a 12 inch or less modular shelf layout one can get a lot of railroad in and it is out of everybodys way.

Mind you being a bachelor is an advantage but this option might get you running trains a lot sooner.

Hope it helps.

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,

Another beautiful day down here in Paradise.  Cool [8D]  Sunny and hot.  Thank God for air conditioning.  Good reason to stay inside and stay comfortable.  Did I mention that it was hot today?

Didn't get time to check in yesterday.  We went out to the ranch/orange grove and I was pretty much a tired puppy when we got home.  Yeah, it was hot yesterday too.  Had just enough energy to suffer through another Red Sox loss.  (And just had to go through another one tonight.)  Sad [:(]

Things out at the orange grove still look good.  The mandarin oranges are getting a bit more color on them.  I suspect that in another 4 weeks we can start to pick them.  The few that we bring home now have a lot of flavor, but are too sour to use as straight juice.

Still no progress on the layout.  That old armchair has me entrapped.

Coffee is good and strong tonight.  From the mountains of Veracruz, of course.  And dessert is even better.  Fran made some banana bread, but added chocolate to part of the batter to make a sort of banana/chocolate marble cake/bread.  Yum!!  Dinner [dinner]  Could be seconds in the offing.

inch:  I was stationed with a guy from Mexico, him and his wife use to make them sometimes. The same way, only they used leaves from corn.
That's a different style tamale, more common in the highlands and the northern part of the country.  The corn meal they use is coarser ground, and the filling is not as moist.  When we make the "batter" for Veracruz style tamales, it's the consistency of runny pancake batter.  A corn husk wrapper wouldn't hold it in long enough for it to cook/steam.  That's why we need to use banana leaves folded into a square envelope.

By the way, inch, thanks for posting the photo of the family.  Funny, that wasn't the mental picture I had of you.  It's strange how you can "know"  someone on the net for a couple of years and form some picture in your head of how the other person is that, but have that picture miles off.

Dick - if I even get to build another layout, it will be around the walls and have shelving under it like you're doing.  I'm also jealous of the temperature in your parts.  41º at night?  That's great!

Rob - I suppose I could say that's good news about the "outlaws".  Hope things work out for you.  Yeah, I agree with CG Jim that designing a modular layout might be a good way to go.  It would allow to you to get started without using a lot of space.

Phil :  I'm needing a nap though since I was up all night.
I went ahead and took one for you, just in case you couldn't.  Zzz [zzz]   Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Ryan - turntable and pit look good.

Hasta mañana

Ed

Evening Gang:

Hoople. Could you speak up some? I couldn't quite hear you. Congradulations.

I got the frame for my rider car for the SW diesel on my 7.5 sand blasted today. That was a very hot 2 hours under the hood. I'll run it over to my friend Terry's tomorrow to get it painted. I'll be glade when the locomotive back on home rails. The only thing is where to park it.

PC: I hope that you get to feeling better soon.

Ryan: Good shots of the turntable. Nice weathering.

Well I'll head for bed now.
