***Garry, I think that one is of me. Although I do not know who took it, but it sure resembles the way I feel most days, (except the Orang has more energy).
I think Scott may be over sometime tomorrow. Would make for a nice "mini vacation" away from the farm and all the craziness of late, heading out to do train stuff. If he makes it, I'll post pics of the days adventures.
Rob
Hey Philip,
If that's your photo, that must have been some trip to the doc's earlier in the week!!!!!!

[The rag weed was 10 ft tall] ***Paul, did you use a bushhog or a mower for that? Sounds like some serious growth doing on there. (been there, done that )
***Ed, look forward to some photos of your trip into Mexico City. It has been over 25 years since I was there. I remember some beautiful architecture, nice museum, friendly people, and finding cool sculptures I still have to this day. Have a great time!
Inlaw mess continues, but there is an end in sight. Hope my wife survives this emotionally, as she is a wreck. Farrier drops by this evening. Still praying for rain. Nothing else to report on. Hope everyone is having a great day. Rob
Hello, Diners! Zoe, a cup of mocha to go please. Thanks!
'Nuther warmish/hot day but not too bad outside just yet. Not as cool as your weather up in the Northwest, though, Mark. Looks like your temps aren't varying as much as ours is. We'll be awaiting the pics of your Challenger once you get them done and posted.
Time for me to get back to the paperw**k for now. More clients in the afternoon.
Take care of yourselves, and see you after lunch!
Blessings,

Morning All! From Renton, WA in the shadow of Seattle. Today's weather and weekend forecast:
A quick bite for me then off to work for a twelve hour shift.
We are getting off to a dry and warm start on this Friday morning with 5am temperatures in the 60s. Today will turn out to be another hot September day with highs approaching 90 degrees this afternoon. Our normal high is now 76 degrees.
Just doin' time til the weekend gets here!
Anybody know where I can get any of these, cheap?
Every place I see them online wants $50+ for them and I can't afford that right now.

Well Goodmorning All
Not much to write home about. Talked to Teffy yesterday and he sends his regards. The M.E.S.S. though dorment at present is in the process of going high tech as there are 7 Tomar Upper Quadrant (4 doubles, 1 single and 2 train order board) Semaphore signals enroute. (Yeah for the Canadian $ hitting parity with the Greenback). Now Teffy is asking "when are we going to be visiting?"
Anyway I'm very busy these days finishing up on home renos and figure I'll have the last of the painting done come February I'll be a happy camper once this is all behind me...
Later All

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,
Another beautiful day here in Paradise. We headed back out to the orange grove to do a bit of routine maintenance work. Didn't get as much accomplished as we had hoped for, as the rains came down on us in mid-shift. Just as well as it was really hot and humid.
I'll be off line for a couple of days. Fran and I are heading up to Mexico City for a naughty weekend. Okay, not really, but we do need a dose of civilization after being back here in town over a month. We leave on the midnight bus tonight. Too bad it wasn't the midnight Pullman. But buses down here are nothing like they are up in the states. The particular line that we are taking tonight is a luxury one. They have 3 across seating (2+1), the seats recline waaay back, and of course are much wider and more comfortable than airline seats. Only 8 rows of seats. We'll wake up tomorrow morning in Mexico City. We should be back Sunday evening. While I may check in during the trip, I don't expect to be posting.
Just hold the fort until we get back.
Hasta luego,
Ed
Evening, Diners (those still up, anyway)! Chloe, a cup of decaf, please.
W**k today wasn't too bad - we didn't have anyone come to walk-in, surprisingly. One crisis client, and when I talked with their Dr., he said to bring 'em down to the office (& he saw them). Only a few phone calls to deal with, so got a fair amount of paperw**k taken care of.
Warm afternoon, but not stifling hot. Bearable, pretty much, when I went home for lunch. One thing more could improve the day - if the Cards would win, but so far, they're behind the Astros (for now). C'mon, Cardinals!

Paul - so the Pit was done by a private company, if I'm understanding you correctly? Bummer! Maybe you could get your area's TV station to do a 'local safety hazard and eyesore' piece on it, and create enough bad publicity to shame the company into cleaning it up? Guess I'm still trying to come up with a way to get them to fix it without you having to spend much/any of your own money. Hope I'm not stirring things up too much when you're trying to get to sleep (or hopefully, you're already in bed and won't see this until the morning).
Blessings and prayers,
Rob... glad you liked it.
Ed .... thanks for Cutty Sark link. It could have been worse, I suppose, but it's still very sad.
Tyler ..... Yes, it's really quite a museum. It alone is worth the entire trip across the Atlantic. The train ride between London was really something, too. Swooooooooosh! It was a fast train! (Feel free to stop in the diner often, Tyler.)
Paul ..........also glad you were interested....
Evening Gang: I mowed under Mary Ann's favorite pecan tree today. The rag weed was 10 ft tall and loaded with pollen. Some of them sounded like I was hitting small trees when the mower hit them.
Garry: Thanks for the pictures of the museum. Very interesting.
Well I'm going to go eat supper and shower.
Good Night All
We saw the Cutty Sark in London, and I heard the recent news that the old ship burned a few months back, and that was sad to hear.
I don't think she's a total loss. She was undergoing a major overahul and most of her rigging, masts, above deck structures, and some planking had been removed. She has a metal frame in any case. News is scarce, but appears that the organization that sponsors her is into fund raising for repair and continuing with the original overhaul. See also:

***Ed, I'm affraid I resemble that remark: [Well, maybe I wouldn't actually do it, knowing how much of a procrastinator I am] Then again, if I didn't have an overwhelming amount on my "must do" list all the time, maybe I would actually get around to more of the projects I would "like to do".
***Garry, those are some neat photos from the British Railway Museum. Thanks for posting them.
Nothing worth sharing presently. Rob
You may be interested in these pictures I took in 2003 at British Railway Museum. An employee escorted me through the shop where the were getting their decades-old replica of the original steam loco ready to operate in 2004 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first locomotive. Richard Trevithick built the first locomotive in 1804. The horse "locomotive" is from that era. The streamlined steamer is the Mallard, the world's fastest steam locomotive. They have a huge collection in York, England where the museum is located. I saw workers in white coats cleaning Stephanson's "Rocket".
Shelley and I were on a trip in September of 2003. We saw the Cutty Sark in London, and I heard the recent news that the old ship burned a few months back, and that was sad to hear.
Goodness, Zoe, where has everyone been today? I found the Diner back here on track two. Well, long as I'm here, I'll have a root beer float. It's warm enough for one, all right! Hmm, on second thought, let me have a custard concrete, please!
Ah, that hits the spot - I'll take this over by the corner booth... Almost Friday and payday, too.
Cox 47 wrote:80 foot takes up a lot of area maybe I need to think about a old time shorter car? Anybody got any ideas?
Cut a section out of the car and shorten it to suit your space. That would be what I would do. Well, maybe I wouldn't actually do it, knowing how much of a procrastinator I am, but that's what I would think about doing......
Good afternoon everyone......another banner day here in New England, 77F, clear blue sky, 46% Rh, DP is 55F...just ideal !!!
I have almost all the Strawberry runners set out in new isles, now if I can just keep the deer out of the garden they can take good root for next June's crop. Every night at dusk, 2 doe and 1 fawn visit the pear tree for droppings, of course they walk all through the garden.

DICK,, we've got 4 trees to take down this fall, one a dying soft maple. I've lost 5 maples in a couple years now, they just start dying from the top down.
That is the same tree that we have trouble with Mike, they are called "Silver" Maples or "Soft" Maples. We have one completely dead, never had a leaf this Spring, 4 more are all dying from the top down. It seems that when they get to about 60 to 75 feet, they don't get enough water at the root tips, so the tree starts dying. These trees typically live along streams and waterways and marsh areas, and are also known as "swamp" maples. There sure as hell aren't any swamps up on my property, as I am on a hill at 1000 feet elevation. Saturday, we are taking one of them down that has a free fall away from the house, the other two need a boom lift, which we will rent next month for $210 to limb the trees first, as they are far too dangerous to fall on the house. Tree Service people want $500 to as much as $1000 a tree to take them down. For $210 renting the power bucket lift, we can take them down safely ourselves.
OK, time to get back outside, see you guys at supper time.
afternoon.
WANTED:OLD, USED, OR EXTRA UNWANTED HO SWITCHES or STRAIGHT TRACK. I'm looking for extra HO scale code100, nickle-sliver switches that ANYONE does not need now or will in the long-term plan of a develpoing layout. Extra switches from finished layouts, yards, or wyes. Hand-thrown or compatable with Life-Like Power-loc track. either is fine. MUST WORK OR HAVE 2 RAILS. Length of the straight track does not matter. Send me an email, if you have extra HO switches or straight track you don't need or will not need.
Payment will be paid with great thanks and photos of the track in use...
Jerry, You're doing N scale if memory serves me right, correct? If so, look for Bachmann Harriman cars. They've been discontinued for years, but Ebay has them from time to time and you can get them at train shows and swap meets too. They're about 65' long, so they take up less real estate. Here's some I picked up for like $3 a car.

If my memory is messed up and you model another scale, just ignore my ramblings and meaningless dribble.
Good morning, All. Coffee please.
I have only been lurking by lately. Meetings and work, etc. have kept me out of the loop. I hope the best for all of you. Maybe I will find some time this weekend.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Good Morning, Diners! Zoe, a cup of that TH coffee, and one of those donuts, please. Thanks!
Looks like we're going to be warmer today than Inch or PC will have up their way. Supposed to reach the low 90's by this afternoon, but it was a little foggy this morning - had to wipe the dew off the car windows. Still in the 50's or low 60's in the evenings, so that's not bad. But as Inch said, will have to use the air conditioner a little more at home.
Time for me to finish my coffee and get back to the w-thing. See you all later!
