Near a cornfield in Indiana...
Just a glass of cool water tonight. With all the steak eaters showing up in the diner, I could have a big tab to pay up. Have at it folks, happy to cover yall.
***Jim, even if that seller doesn't accept the payment option you offer, at least you picked up some other good finds and anything else you want will eventually come back around. I use paypal exclusively on ebay, as I live too far from town to make MOs and such very practical. I only use it for my "play money" and never have much in that account anyway.
Off to La La Land here. Rob
Well, since you finally did hit the TOTP (was that one or two after Colby predicted?), I'll have a nice dinner on your ticket, Rob! Good evening, Janie - I'll have a plate of ribs, with some fries,
a root beer float (tall one, please!),
a tall glass of milk,
and one of those special strawberry and cake specials the cook whipped up a couple of weeks ago (yum!)
Ooh, you said that's made with some graham crackers and brown sugar? Deeeelightful! Oh yeah, and a plastic cover, just in case the silly string wars come back. Can you talk to Vinnie about uh,... taking any offenders out back and having a little 'talk' with them?
Inch, are you sure Hallie will appreciate being called Henry? Nice pics of the diamond and the wye - I'm kind of with Rob about feeling like walking those tracks. We have a stretch of track north of town that college kids used to go down to a quarry (unofficial watering hole for some). But I think they drained the quarry and filled it in with dirt. There were some kids who shouldn't have been swimming (or anywhere near the cliffs between the quarry and the tracks, not after drinking and barely on a good sober day), and some who didn't have enough sense to get off the tracks if they heard/saw a train coming. (Okay, end of rant, since I went down those tracks - but, I was watching for the trains and wasn't drinking there or on the way there).
Blessed Yom Kippur, by the way!
Flip got me thinking, because I get the three holidays - Rosh HaShana (New Year - which was on the 13-14th), Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement - last night sundown through sundown tonight), and Succoth (Feast of Tabernacles - Sept. 27th through Oct. 3rd) all a bit mixed up, since they all fall in the late September/early October time period. Heck, I have Daylight Savings Time changing weekend confused, with the new deal of making it longer into the fall than I was used to... Ah, well...
Paul, sounds like your son and you have figured out a deal there. I don't know lots about tractors, but I would think the one you have in mind sounds more useful and not highly overpriced or anything. Sounds like your son's attorney doing it on contingency is a very good deal. My guess is, he (or she) must think there's a good chance of nailing the company on that well (or he's just very generous-minded?).
Found out for sure last night that my car is in need of some more work. The right turn signals and turn/brake lights aren't working at all, which a mechanic friend said probably is due to the switch in the steering column being busted. Left turn and signals work, but not the right ones. Problem was, I couldn't get any places open today where I could get it fixed (and Tuesday night I'm on-call). I could just see me being pulled over by the police for the light(s) when I'm on the way to the ER or a jail to assess someone...In the words of Bill the Cat- pfffffffttttt!! Cars!
I did pick up some Woodland Scenics figures and one of their smaller rock molds (embankments) today at Hobby Lobby (had a 40 percent coupon from their website; that coupon's been running almost every two weeks like that ). They're adding a few Oversized scale items (which might be of interest for Bill (RT)). I'd like to see them carry more WS figures and some of the WS vehicles, too. I also went by the in-town LHS and picked up a couple of Kalmbach books (New Scenery Tips & Techniques and their Basic Structure Modeling for MR'ers). I'll have to start checking the Barnes and Noble for the next MR issue. Haven't renewed the subscription yet. For comparison, my RMC subscription ran out about the same time as my MR did, but I've already received an offer from RMC to get a free issue and the rest of a year for only $24.95 ($10 off regular subscription price). I've written an email to MR (via Terry Thompson) suggesting that MR could take a tip and reward their loyal subscribers with some token discount to renew. Haven't heard back yet, but it's over the weekend.
Last night/today I won some eBay auctions - one was for three of the Revell garages (1 kit, 2 assembled - 2 of the farmhouse garage, and one (assembled) of the 'suburban house' garage), about $19 with shipping. Also won a P2K gondola kit (Frisco, 52'6" Timesaver one I believe it was) for less than $9 with shipping. I also won a structure kit, but I'm not sure if I'll get that one or not. I missed on that auction that the seller has apparently changed from accepting other payment forms than PayPal (which I refuse to use), to just PayPal. Sent him couple of emails, but no word back yet.
Well, better get myself home and get to bed for now.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Evening Gang: Not much going on here again. Mary Ann and I mowed the yard. She did the front and I did most of the back. I got a shot of dust in the eyes so quit untill tomorrow.
Rob:I'm holding out for the 4 wheel drive model. If you are going to do any digging at all it is needed. Maybe we won't have to spend $2000 renting a loader.
Inch: We are looking for a tractor to do the bailing so need a 70 hp for best results. We'll use the 52 horse hp for the time being but it will be pushed to the limit. I like the open tractors but the dust really gets to me when bailing.
I looked at the 7.5 inch gauge today to see how the round up did. It is not as good as I've seen in the past but the weather wasn't real perfect. I'll wait a bit more and then get out the weed burner.
Thanks for the bed time snack Rob. The sirloin was perfect.
Well it's bed time so I'll see you all later, and whats this doing on page 2 again?
Good Night All

Afternoon.
I also have a new thread going. It's called 'Got Track?' so far only 1 reply.
Pineapple Pizza to go. Next post hits top page.
in a ATSF mug, please and thank you. A little creamer is fine, but what's with the silly string on the rim?
***Jeffrey, if you have a box full of those motors, couldn't you could sell enough of them to buy a new SDSM memory card for the Olympus camera? Just a thought.

Uh huh. *Pokes MTR's Silly string can with a needle showering him in Silly String Goop*
I'll have the Spaghetti
I asume you mean this thing? It's a SDSM memory card for an Olympus camera.
Jeff- Re your earlier post- What the heck is that thing???
I enjoy your posts of pics and marvel at your talents. Yeah, I'm envious. Fergie may have his "M.E.S.S." but all I can do is make a mess. Inch, ain't it nice to give the babe back to Mom to change the diaper?
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Flip
in a Southern mug this morning, please & thank you.
***inch, when I see tracks like those in your photos, I get the urge to walk along them to see where they go. Always enjoyed doing that back in WA state, often seeing old barns and such from very different perspectives. Thinking back to some of the longer bridges, the movie "Stand By Me" comes to mind.
Hope everyone is doing well today.
HI and good morning. Jim's correct. Start about 6 or earlier, work 3 to5 hours, break for a few, do a short run, break, work a short run. Be gone 13 hours and on the clock 6 if lucky, hours. Not to happy with paycheck. Also they have given us a "day off". Boy, does that cut the hours that would go to O.T.. Looking at the bottom line is what keeps businesses in business.
I peek in thru the side window as I don't want Vinnie to see me. We, Deb and I, keep ya'll in our prayers.
May this New Year bring Health and Happiness to all. Shalom.

Jeff: I have to ask "what's wrong with it?" Steamers though complicated on the outside are fairly simple on the inside and can be tweeked and working with the right tongue position. I'd off to look at it but it would be a looooong wait with all the other stuff on my plate these days. Though it would look good in a M.E.S.S. livery

Mornin, coffee and a short stack n sausage please Janie.
Another warm one here today, 86, some better than the 90 yesterday.
Me n Mother spent most of yesterday running round, I had an appointment in Danville VA early, then we hit some yard sales on the way back, I didn't find anything for me. Stopped by Kris's n seen the baby. I found out I had her name wrong, it's Hailie, not Kylie, Oh well, I'm just gonna call her Henry anyhow. Here's a new pic,
We gotta a couple rail fan pics while up there to. First one is the NYC diamond where the east-west tracks crossed the north-south.
There's a wye the also, you can see the start on the north- south track.
DICK,, the price for a tree here starts about $200 and goes up from there depending on how much cleaning up they do. The soft maples here can have green leaves on them and the tops blow out, because they're rotten inside. Don't ask me why, the forester didn't know why for sure either.
GARRY,, thanks for the museum pics. I remember seeing a show on it several years ago now, looked like an interesting place.
PAUL,,, what kind of tractor you looking, the price sounds some cheaper than up here for the horse. Cabs are the way to go for baling, but I still like it better without one.
JERRY, don't think we're going to Rockome today, don't really have the money to spare. I think we'll go watch the flag football games this afternoon instead, 2 grandsons are playing and one's quarter backing today and he's got a h--- of an arm on him for 8.

***I'm with you Paul, that 70hp with loader sounds like a winner, especially for baling. If you don't have much mud then the 2wd would be fine I suppose, but 4wd is still going to be more fun. It's only money. (right now I'm trying to figure out how to pay for new truck tires and get someone out here to fill our little JD tractor tires which have been leaking water ever so slowly for several years and are about ready to go "whoosh") Whatever version you buy, how about posting a photo of the beast!?! Enclosed cab with heat & AC and all, you might not want to come in out of the rain.
Evening Gang:
Rob I used a brush hog on a 52 hp tractor. It was still a job and a half.
JimCG: Mary Ann and I have talked about it and as much as we'ed like to use our lawyer I think that we're going to talk to John's lawyer. He said He'd do it on contingincy basis. In other words he dosen't get paid unless he wins.
We got a small shock today. We've been having a hard time getting our hay cut and baled. John has been trying for a week to get the guy to give him a date to do his. Well John got feed up and bought a baler and rake yesterday. Not used but new. He's going to use our tractor and do it himself. He'll do ours also. At about $2000 per bailing the stuff will pay itself off in 2 years. I guess we'll be buying a new tractor this fall. The one I like is $37,000. Four wheel drive loader and 70 hp. We can get a 0% loan for it. It's still alot of money. Mary Ann wants to go with a 2 wheel drive and no loader for $27,000. Both have cabs and air, a must for bailing. I wish I could spend that kind of money on MRRing. Boy, what a layout.
Well Daisy the dog is begging for another bed time treat. I guess I'll head out and take care of her.
I was woundering who was pounding on the door this morning. Turns out it was Vinnie looking for my credit card.
And BUMP
