Hello everyone ...
Here's a photo I posted on weekend photo fun...
I've been busy with familiy. grandkids here until Tuesday. We had a great boat ride on the lake. Nice lunch at the marina. Tree colors were nice. Sunny; mid 70's. Ideal conditions.
Hamfest was fun. Too much food.
Cheers everyone.

Good to be back. I had done a weekly computer clean-up before finding out about the work being done here. Oops!
Still working on gutters here. So much prep work (shims galore) on the barn roof and even then, the edge of the tin sections are no where near even. Will be far from perfect, but should catch "most" of the rain water, whenever we get any!
Worked on the two Bachmann Docksiders again, but it would require too much grinding/cutting/etc to make it worth pursuing any further. Will just keep an eye out for one already running.
Almost bought three model RR books last night online (gift card from last Christmas was about to expire), then changed my mind and bought a "100 Classic Sci Fi Movies" pack instead.

Good afternoon (or is it evening? The sun's going down, so I guess evening...), Diners! Janie, I'd like a nice steak with the fixin's, please.
Thanks, Jeremy! Good to see you back in the Diner; it's been a while since you posted, right?
If anyone wants one (or a couple) of those filets, Janie said the cook got carried away once he got started, so help yourself!
Looks like it's been a lazy weekend around here, or everybody's been busy outside, perhaps. PC and Jerry, I'd agree with the changing weather comments. Just when I get the long-sleeve shirts and the jacket out, now today it's up in the 80's. So tomorrow I'll probably be wearing short sleeves for work again. It wasn't too bad for the hayride last night, only a little cool on the last leg of the ride, and around the fire. Hot dogs, chili, chips and assorted desserts.
Jerry, good to hear Sallie got out for dinner - I'm sure she enjoyed that!
Yesterday I got the Peco switches in that I'd ordered, and I think I'll be using the Pecos for the rest of my turnout needs. Now, after that, my flakey monitor (remember how it was last week?) got even flakier, and I was about sure it was going to die on me and leave me with no way to see what I was doing. Then I remembered my monitor on my other desktop Mac and I lucked out - the connectors on it were the right kind for my PowerMac. Of course, it's only a 14" monitor, so it looks tiny to me (and only 832 X 624 instead of 1024 X 768). I tried setting it to higher resolution (it would do it), but those pixels were way too teensy-weensy for my eyes! So I have a usable monitor, and next paycheck or so, I'll be ordering in an LCD widescreen (refurb) from a store that has a lot of them on eBay.
I also ended up doing major cleaning off of the hard drive - I was within about 5 GB (on a 120GB drive), which was way too snug. Did some comparing of what I had backed up or on the external drive, and deleted a lot of duplicated files. Now I have a little working/breathing room on the drive.
Good to see you popping in (from offshore, even!) Fergie. Maybe you'll get some fair seas and be able to get some MRR projects worked on before you reach port (or if not, after you get home). I know what you mean about the good shows vs. the clearance kinds. Last show I went to had several good things to buy, but also had some rather junky stuff (that I guess they were thinking was 'vintage' = $$$).
Mitch (Eeyore9900) - nice weathering on your cars (went by your webpages)!
Not much progress for me on my MRR'ing - yesterday or today either one. Well, maybe next weekend I can get back to things. I've been trying to get caught up on documentation for work - they want it all caught up by Nov. 1st, and it looks like I'll have to be spending a fair chunk of my leisure time to get that done. Of course, if they'd be realistic on how long it takes to write up some of the documentation, I wouldn't be so behind, but I digress...
Hmmm, I think I'll have some of that butterscotch pie please, Janie.
Thanks! I'll be over in the corner working on my pie. Once PC hears me say that, he'll be in to check out the Key Lime.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
After I figured out how to build the paper structure I built a second one. Compared to the first one, it was simple. The first one took more than a day to put together but the second one took only an hour.
hey there everyone
cool and clody here today, picked up a new nitro truck on Friday but probably wont get around to running it until the spring time, oh well. just thought id drop in and say Hi im going to get back to the Bears and Dolphins game. take care

Cox 47 wrote:PC...Ditto on that changing weather seems like we don't have spring or fall anymore....
Yeah, you get the same thing, just 6 or 8 hours earlier.
Morning all!
Well, I know they say it in other areas of the country, but around here it's really true! If you don't like the weather in Indiana, stick around 5 minutes, it'll change!
Last week we dropped 35 degrees from one day to the next. Two days ago we struggled into the mid 50's. Yesterday it was the 60's. Today we'll hit the low to mid 70's, and tomorrow, they're looking for the 80's! And lest you think the roller coaster stops there, tuesday looks like it's back to the 60's again! I guess you could say that the weather around here is anything but boring!
In other news, I used yesterday to build a basketball goal for my boy. Took me about 3/4 of the day, but it was all good. 5 minutes after I finished it, he and four other boys from the neighborhood were playing horse with it. Got a few other things to catch up on today.
So what's up with you all?

Missed it again! Darn!! Double Darn!!! Best show in the Province as far as I'm concerned. Oh well There's always the one at the Spotsplex... Unfortunately its more of a Swap Shop and Junkers emporium.
Jeff: Nice job on the shed, very rustic, I like rustic.
Anyway We are still way out here but slowly moving towards land. Haven't done much modelling this trip as I just can't get into it I'm 'fraid. Though I did stick the Portholes in the "Porthole 'n Tank" Mariners Pub. Though it's still a long ways away, especially as I tore out the door casings after they got damaged the other day.
Better and stronger next time!

Near a cornfield in Indiana...
Evening folks-a bowl of soup & some Pepsi for me (getting chilly here- 49.5F)
Spent the day doing some laundry, some grocery shopping, & some cleaning around the new house. I got some time at my weathering workbench early this afternoon before I started the above, & hoped for more time this evening, but it didn't happen.
My fiance's a county or so SE of here (at the Algonquin Fall Festival in Carroll Co, for you OH folk) with a table set up selling her beadwork. By happenstance she ran into the wife of one of my best buds there on Friday, after inquiring when she heard the last name aloud (she had never met them, but heard of them from me!) Big time coincidence. His wife told my other half my bud would be down there tomorrow morning, so I'm gonna head down-hook up with my other half, & my bud-haven't seen him in awhile-we have some big time catching up to do.
OK, the dogs have been out, (oops, need to put the coffee on for the morning) Kasey isn't winning the race, so I'm off to zzzz.
Here's something I've been working on. It's an all paper structure (except the base) that I downloaded from the internet. I printed it out and am putting it together. I've almost got it done.
These two pics were taken earlier today.
I took this one a little while ago after getting the roof on it to see what it looks like on the layout.
Even the roof is paper.
Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,
Another beautiful day down here in Paradise. Although the temperature was still up there, somehow late this afternoon it actually felt bearable outside. I'm trying to learn to use the term "balmy" instead of "hot and muggy" . Went to shoot some pool at the local with my father-in-law this afternoon. Used to do that on a much more regular basis, but somewhere along the line we fell out of the habit.
Work on the boxcar didn't progress too much in the last day or so. This is the first time I have used decals from this particular manufacturer (a small local niche vendor) and it looks like I need something stronger than MicroScale's MicroSet and MicroSol. These are industrial strength decals. Even after repeated applications of MicroSol it still looks like I have painted canvas signs on the sides of the cars. I finally resorted to soaking the car overnight in MicroSol to see if I could get the decal film to settle down some. (just kidding). Anyway, today I bit the bullet and gave the car a coat of Dullcoat. I'll see if some judicious weathering tomorrow can help camouflage them.
We went out to the orange grove yesterday. We did pick some mandarin oranges. They're still "not ready for prime time", just getting into a yellowish stage, still with a lot of green. I keep trying to rush the season, but they probably still need about 3 weeks to fill out a bit in size and to mature and turn more orange in color. But they're already acceptable to me for juice. Maybe still too, let's say "tart", for the family's tastes.
Speaking of tastes, seeing as how not everyone here likes Key Lime Pie (ever when it is made with limes from our grove), I asked Fran if she'd whip up some Banana Cream Pies so there'd be some choice.
Quiet day posting on the forums, not just The Coffee Shop thread. People must either be taking advantage of the cooler weather to stay inside and model, or they're busy watching college football. Me, I have one eye on the tv watching the Red Sox vs Indians.
Later,
Ed
Hey Fergie! So you aren't so far away from here, really.
Just got back from the Truro Train Show. That was really good, lots of vendors, and some interesting modular layouts in Horribly Oversized and Normal. Got there later than I expected as it wasn't where I'd been told it would be. Picked up #1 grandson and his school buddy first. The other gks were off at Cadets orienteering. After we tried the college campus I'd been directed to, and the place where there was a show this past Spring, we went to Zellers for breakfast. Eventually we got hold of the correct address (a completely different college ). I bought a Revell Trailer train flat marked for GTTX with two 50 ft SeaLand trailers. Metal frame on that puppy. Also 4 more containers by ConCor. (SeaLand and P&O/Nedlloyd.), and a couple of Atlas Ford Taurus undecorated. So I'm a happy camper. In addition, #1 gs expressed a desire to "get into trains". So, if he can show me he's able to save his allowance, I said I'd give him a bunch of help.
Dinner should be in a little bit, so I'll say TTFN.

Good morning.
Just a quick visit. Grandkids are here, and yes, they brought their parents. My job this morning was waffle maker. Some country ham on the side.
There's a neat thread on childhood memories started by Dave V., and last night I posted some of my memories growing up next to the "Q" if you're interested. Post yours, too, if you like. I'd be interested.
Now, back to the grandkids. Wood train set time! Boat ride this afternoon. Ham festival parade tomorrow.
Cheers!
Hey Jesse, looks like you're buying this morning.I'll have steak and eggs.

Evening Gang: The meet is this weekend. My goof in listening to my son and my friend. From now on I go by our website. Anyway I ran my diesel for the first time since the overhaul. It did very well with one small problem with the throttle. I put in the shop and had it fixed forthwith. A couple of the guys had a bunch of new 2.5 inch scale narrow gauge cars here. They are prototype 3 ft. narrow gauge. Terry ran Mark's locomotive with the cars and it made a real good looking train. Eight cars, four reefers, a gondola, flat car, and two passengers cars.
Well I think I'll head for bed.
Good Night All
Here's something a posted in the WPF thread earlier.
A nice little retaining wall that wasn't as simple to make as I thought it would be.
