***Jeffrey, must be a Southern word that slipped in there. That's what I get for living in the Deep South for 10 years now. "Clayer"...sounds like it could be slang for Claymore Mine? Or a student of sculpture? OK, actually it's short for "convergence layer", sooooo, in a way, what I said was kinda sorta correct? Ha Ha Ha

Well, an old Bach. Docksider arrived today that I had planned on swapping parts with one I had. Unfortunately, the frames are different. There goes my "Plan A". So now I have one that runs quite well with both couplers but no running gear....and another with good running gear but missing one coupler and the part of the frame it would have to mount to. There is no way to combine them into one good runner. Darn! So, what do I do? Sell both and keep an eye out for a complete one? Or try obtaining yet a third and hope for parts needed to make one? (I don't much like having incomplete and/or non-running locos in the stable)

I think she's kinda cute, looks too small, but cute.
Looks to me like it's missing the Pantograph, I;ve seen an electric loco like that

Afternoon all
to the newbies
Ryan Yes,I did hear Monique say that she wanted one and if memory serves me right,Paul said it wouldn't be a problem to come down and see him. And as I have said, if it works out in a couple years and I can become an ORF I will have the time to do it (I hope). I haven't gone in on the other side but have done what I have been doing here for the most part and that is sitting back and listening.
It's been good to see some of the old names dropping in.
That's about it

Morning all.
I'm enjoying my first school day off. Thanks to the teachers... They have to go to some meeting all day, and the students get to stay at home and ROCK AND ROLL ALL NIGHT AND PARTY EVERY DAY!
Hmm, I wonder if my passenger cars will come soon... I wish the guy would've accepted paypal... How long does it take to get to Arizona from here...
I was counting legs.LOL Looks like at least one large "head" made up of the others and scene, also. However, knowing Bev (if this is one of hers), there could be 20 or more.
Off to pick up more mortar and a bag of quickcrete. Rob
***Phillip, at least 5 obvious ones. That's an old Bev Doolittle print, is it not? Did a few of the top shows with her in the early 90's.
Now that I know what to search for, I am finding LOTS of photos of Steeple Cab electric locos (or as Jeffrey accurately said: "Juice Jacks"). Many were used here in the USA for inter-urban switching, plant work & mining operations. I LIKE the idea of using it for mining, although I did get it for the Soylent plant. And it appears the model I bought is an old Arnold-Rapido (minus what goes on the top of the cab). Gotta love the internet and sites like this one for researching.
I best get feeding and watering the critters now. Rob
Good Morning Coffee Clubbers,
Just a quick check in this morning. Since the rains have stopped we're going to head out to the orange grove this afternoon. Have to get back in time to see the first game in the ALCS this evening.
GC Jim: You possibly could use some of our 39 F (4 C) weather we have this morning.
Ryan: How is the eggplant parm recipe coming along?

***Frank, I just picked it up on ebay, so I don't have it in hand yet. When it arrives I'll look close for any ID marks. The folks selling it said they didn't see any. Certainly is similar to the HO model.
***Ryan, Yes, the tanks & gutters will be for catching every last drop of water when it rains. I just heard that Atlanta only has something like 130 days worth of water left!? I need to take photos of our dry BIG creek bed. The only fella around us who has ever seen this happen is in his 90's. Yikes!
ATTENTION
THE THREE-DAY HAM FESTIVAL HAS NOW BEGUN
County ham, anybody? I hope the carload I dispatched arrived in the diner. Have some, everybody. While your at it, try some black peppercorn bacon. Good stuff.
Ryan asked about burgoo. I'm sure there will be some at the festival, but I may have other food. The local pork chop sandwiches are outstanding and will be good for when lunchtime arrives.
Grandkids are arriving late today from Cincinnati. They are bringing their parents. Boat ride on the lake tomorrow. Festival for the rest of the weekend. Big parade Sunday afternoon.
Looks like I will not have much model railroading to report on Monday.

It got cancelled, but thats OK.
Morning folks!
Chloe please set me up with a hot coffee over here in the corner booth and some wheat toast with a spoonful of apple butter too! Thanks!
Oh, hey Duke, I didn't see you over on the other side, it's time to get up and start with a fresh cup a Joe!
Fall temps finally arrived with 42° F this morning! There is something about early morning skies just before the sun comes up, and watching the stars through the clear crisp morning sky is a sight. And then seeing the sun rise on the ride into work was great too!
Philip - I hope the wife's doc appointment went well! Oh, and funny MS error messages!
Garry - Glad you like the pics and triggering back those fond memories too! Hey, is it time for some Burgo?
Jerry - In answer to your question, yes, that last photo is from my layout.
Rob - Glad you like the photos! And to answer your question, the lower deck staging yard has 11 tracks with the longest one in the very back is about 16' in length, and the nearest one in the front is about 4' long. If you are ever in the vicinity you certainly are welcome to come pay a visit. Oh and I liked hearing about your 1,500 gal storage containers and gutters. Are you setting up a rain water recovery system? I have thought of that very solution to our current drought situation.
Paul - The live steam meet was great with the exception that they could not burn the coal this time due to the drought. But the diesel rigs were just as much fun. Wish we could join you guys next weekend. As Duke can vouch for me, the better half said on Saturday that we need to get one of these! For now I'm sticking with HO, but the 1.5 or 7.5" sure is a lot of fun too!
Mike - Sure enough! I always like your photos postings so reciprocation is fair play!
Jim - Wish we could make it down to Paul's event, but maybe some day in the future eh! Hey, $125 isn't too bad for a water pump replacement. If I can get away with any car repair under $200 I feel pretty good! That hot fudge sundae sure looks guuuud, but sweets are not a part of my current diet plan. Oh well!
Ed - Congratulations on the model building! Sometimes all it takes is a little kit to get you jump started. And yes, the set up at the Apex event is amazing, it sits on about 55 acres and has about 2.5 miles of the 7.5" track with two main loops and plenty of sidings too! How is the eggplant parm recipe coming along?
You all have a wonderful day!

Good Morning, Diners - Zoe, just a mocha to go, please. Thanks!
Ed, congratulations on the MRR'ing - I'll probably be working on some of that this weekend, too (car kit assembling). You possibly could use some of our 39 F (4 C) weather we have this morning. Got some fog, too. Feels more like fall here, and going to warm up to 70 today (21 C).
Got word that my initial order of Peco turnouts came in, so I'll be seeing how well they fit in place of the turnouts I have (a mix of some used Walthers/Shinoharas, and some Atlas ones). I want to have all the track up to DCC standards, even though I'll be running plain ol' DC for a while.
Time for me to get going. See you all later!
Blessings and Prayers,

Mornin' all!

It's a mixed blessing really. She doesn't have to go now, but she will eventually, ya know? And thanks for the prayers!

Hi Rob,
that little switcher is of a European model by the looks of it. Does it have any markings on it with regards to classification numbers or such. Looks almost like a switcher from a private company in Germany. Reason for me saying that is that Fleischmann has a very similar model in HO and I know they made similar small switchers in both lines in the 80's.
Here is a link to the Loco I had in mind:

Hope this helps somewhat at least.

Just a tall glass of cool water please!
***inch53, I am a big fan of Soylent Green, too. I will be converting some models already set aside to create my own version of the Plant, but with some extra twists. It will have "stocks" full of folks waiting for processing, as well as some large holding tanks. I have been looking around for a copy of the movie, but the only ones I see are a bit pricey. I would really like to get a copy of it before starting my project. BTW, I recently listened to a 30-CD set called: Old Time Radio's 60 All-Time FAVORITES. Fun stuff!
***Ed, you read my mind...have been looking at 44 tonners and similar little diesels online tonight. So many variations to choose from, anything I could come up with there would probably be a prototype of it out there. I am also now hooked on the idea of having it run on LNG, just because the tanks would add visual interest to it.
Well, long day ahead, so calling it a night. Take care, all. Rob
Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,
Another beautiful day down here in Paradise. Dried out a bit, which of course means that the temperatures were a bit higher. We may try to head out to the grove tomorrow.
News flash, I actually did some modeling today. Assembled a kit. It's an old KayDee N scale kit, pre MicroTrains, so you have some idea how old the kit is. Kind of like an N scale "Blue Box" kit. Not much to it. But I also painted it and am trying to get the decals in place. Not much modeling compared to what others here are doing, but a giant step for an armchair modeler like me.
Rob: I might need to add some tanks and/or change the body of it and turn it into a little diesel. Judging from the small shell, should be a do-able project to convert it into something else. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Ryan - glad you got to meet up with Duke at Apex. Looks like they have a nice setup there.
PC - nice Windows warning popups. I got a good chuckle out of them.
That's about it from here. I'm going to concentrate on the playoff game.
Hasta mañana
Good Evening, Chloe - I'll have a cup of coffee and my usual hot fudge sundae, please.
Well, my car is getting a replacement water pump. It was overheating way too quickly, so I had it looked at. At first we were suspecting a leak in the overflow tank, but then it turned out it was leaking at the bottom of the water pump. So tomorrow I'll need to catch a ride to work, and $125 or so later, I hopefully will have a working car again. I may have a belt that needs replacing, too, but that may be next to do. Just wish this didn't happen now - had to get a cash advance through my bank (until next direct deposit). Ah well...
Ryan, nice photos of the live steam (and Duke and Monique). Looks like a fun time for all of you. So, will you guys be heading down for Paul's live steam meet?
Mike, sorry to hear about Fern's passing. At least her daughters made it back to see her off. Prayers for them and for the new babies who are coming soon.
I did get in my new Spectrum 0-6-0 Saddle tanker yesterday. Looks nice - but it seems almost too small, compared to some of my other locos. I got it from Trainland (online), and it made pretty good time getting here. The one I have is the Colorado Mining Co. one - I was thinking I might be able to re-letter it for my RR (Colorado, Arizona & Western). I can either get my MDC 0-6-0 Saddle Tanker repaired, or use it as a 'repairs in progress' like Jeff's one next to his engine house.
Tracklayer, Garry's comments - thanks for reminding us of some well-misspent hours in front of the TV (let's see - Hopalong Cassidy, Sky King, Lone Ranger, and a few others... Ahhh...). Okay, back from memoryland!
PC, good one on the phone joke. Liked the error messages, too - I think I've seen the Windows update one perhaps. I know (being used to Macintosh systems) that after I got a working Wintel system at work a month or so ago, I called one of our beta geeks (aka IT guys), to ask him if it was normal to be getting updates every morning... (He said yes) Should we congratulate your wife on the delay in her doctor's appointment, or would she rather get it done and over with? Doesn't sound like much fun. Prayers on the way.
Rob, on your ULL (Ugly Little Loco? ), what kind of really obnoxious color scheme could you come up with? (tee hee...) Jeff's idea isn't bad - if you could find some smaller LP tanks (or some small tubing the right size and make some, they'd work for fuel tanks.
Well, I'd better get heading for home. Good sundae, Chloe - thanks!
Blessings,
