TRACKLAYER,,, it's ok to watch old time movies n TV shows, I've got plenty also. I pick them up whenever I can. Started looking for the old radio programs when I can find them and the price is right. I still collect and play with toys too, but I blame it on the grandkids now.
PC,,,,, hope the wife's doc appointment went ok and the joke was good.
RYAN,,, looks like ya'll had a great time there from the pics, thanks for sharing them.

Just wouldn't seem right (to me) to have it on a layout without any overhead wires and I am not going there.

You got that right! I'll be sure and pass on your kind words....all of you!
Rob that looks like a little " Juice Jack". That's an electric locomotive. All it needs is a trolly pole on the roof and your in business.

Evening Gang: Well last night was a bummer. I had another acid reflux so I spent about 4 hours in my recliner. I finally got back to sleep around 5am. I hope that tonight will be better. I'm going to take some Tums along with my meds so maybe?
Ryan: Happy you enjoyed the live steam meet. Ours is the next week. It starts on Thursday and goes through Sunday. We'll be able to run coal burners so it should be a good time. Of course we have a good time with diesels too.
Der: The hills look pretty good. I like the different angles to the rock.
Well It's about time to check the mail and get to bed.
Good Night All
in a UP mug, please and thank you.
Worked on laying brick & mortar at the corner of the porch this evening where the water tank is going. Not going to share a photo of it, incase there is a masonry worker around here. It isn't pretty, but will do the trick. Rob
I have a fire dept meeting to go to. Catch y'all later.
PS: Dinners on me.

***Tracklayer, Enjoy those old shows. Nothing wrong with re-visiting one's childhood now and then.
***Philip, hope the Doctors can be of some help to your wife. That is a rough one.
***Ryan, thoroughly enjoyed your photos. Wish you lived near us, we would definitely visit. How large is that staging area? I am impressed with the loco & rolling stock. Very nice!
Healing thoughts to those in need.

Well, the doctors appointment got moved, so I'm still here.
Got this the other day and thought it was quite humorous. I work in the telephone business, so maybe it's funnier to me then you.
PHONE PROBLEM An elderly lady phoned her telephone company to report that her telephone failed to ring when her friends called, and that on the few occasions when it did ring, her pet dog always moaned right before the phone rang. The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog .... or the senile elderly lady. He climbed a nearby telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house. The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned loudly and the telephone began to ring. Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found: 1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire via a steel chain and collar. 2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose. 3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the phone number was called. 4. After a couple of such jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate on himself and the ground. 5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone to ring. Which goes to show that some problems can be fixed by pissing and moaning.
Good morning
Oatmeal and OJ, please.
Ryan ...Thanks for the live steam pictures. Brings back great memories because my Dad was a live steam nut.
Philip ......prayers for your wife's medical appointment.
Inch.....payers for the family of your neighbor, fern. It's quite sad to learn of yet-to-be born kids who will never know their grandmother.
Tracklayer .........great to hear from you. I remember F-Troop. That was in an era when the entertainmnet industry broadcast programs suitable for all family members unlike the TV garbage of today. Thanks for reminding me of some good old days. Second childhood? I'm still in the first one.
Happy Model Railroading
Morning Folks!
Finally starting to feel like fall here! The leaves are just starting to turn colors on a few trees too.
Hope everyone is well and everything is going your way!
We visited with Duke at the NC Live Steam Meet on Saturday in Apex and it was a blast! Everyone liked the Cajun Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya that we brought for lunch, and we got to ride the 7.5" scale trains too! Even Monique and Ben and I got to engineer the Southern locomotive around the facility. The 55 acre location sports about 2.5 miles of track through the wooded terrain. Quite an event and honored to have been invited. Thanks again Duke!
Here are a few photos from the event, to view more of them you can go to my website and click the Photo Gallery VI.
Here's Duke pointing out the consist that we will ride and giving Ben some basics on riding the rails:
This is one of the rolling stock on display, and it is a tribute to Jack Evans. The track and rack were hand built and on casters too!
Here is Monique at the controls and getting ready to fuel up for the next round!
Oh, and where is a quick photo of the next layer of cloud cover for the staging yard backdrop.
Thoughts and prayers to all in need and recuperation!
Later on folks,
Ryan

Mornin,, just coffee Zoe, this is a quick stop to let ya'll know we're alive
Cool here this morning, 45, and gonna have a cool fall day, 62, got the stove burning on low for the chill.
We laid Fern, a good friend n neighbor to rest yesterday, sure gonna miss her. Both their daughters made it in and both are expecting girls, Martha in Jan, and Rachel will not make it back to Arizona. She's been having labor pains for 2 days now. She was due next week anyway.
We've been helping kept the two grandsons busy and out from under foot over there. Besides they like playing with our kids anyway. Both their boys call me Mr Mike and Deb, Ms Mike.
Good Morning, Diners - I'll go easy on Jerry, so he doesn't spend all his auction money on the tab here. Just a cup to go, Zoe, please. Thanks!
Well, it looks like we're a bit cooler than PC or Jeff this morning here in Cape G. Currently 41 F, but we are supposed to warm up into the mid-60's by this afternoon. Of course, Jeff's having a heat wave down in Louisiana.
Garry, thanks on the suggestion for the car. I'm just hoping it didn't decide to die on me while I was sleeping... I'll probably be talking with one or two of my friends who are mechanics about possible causes, and baby the car until I can get it in to be worked on. That story about the white fur was reminiscent (spelling?) of a similar thing that I had happen many years ago. I think in that case the cat didn't do as well as your furry friend, though.
DerJohn, thanks for the progress photos, and best wishes on the rest of the scenicking.
Well, I'd best get going - may need to be sure I have enough time just-in-case with the car.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Well, it's getting mighty nippy around here! Right now it's 45 degrees out there and the weather guesser is only calling for 56 for a high. Just Monday it was 91 degrees, and now today, 35 degrees cooler!
Gotta take the wife to the MDA doctors today. She hates that place, but they do her a lot of good. Actually, I should say, she hates to be poked and prodded, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association doctors poke and prod the most, so thats what she hates. They are the most helpful doctors we see, so hopefully they'll have something good to say today.
Well, gotta run......later!
Hi all.
It's about 4:40am and I just woke up about thirty minutes ago. I have a long day ahead of me today to say the least...
I'm sitting here watching the middle of the third DVD of the Far Out Space Nuts collection I recently bought off of eBay. For those of you that aren't familiar with the show, it stars Bob Denver (aka Gilligan from Gilligan's Island) and Chuck McCann as two food handlers working for NASA that accidently launch themselves into space. It was a Sid & Marty Kroft Saturday morning series that came out in 1975. I loved it when I was a kid. I also bought The Ghost Busters series starring Forrest Tucker and Larry Storch from F Troop. It was also a Saturday morning show that came out in 1975. Last but not least, I bought a 12" G I Joe Adventure Team action figure like the one I had back when I was a kid that a neighborhood dog got ahold of and chewed all up. It was my favorite toy at the time and I was sick about it. I'd thought about buying an original a number of years ago but the price on it was over $200.00, so I held off until now and got an exact reproduction for $25.00 instead. So I guess you could say I'm literally going through my second childhood right now, but then, people are always telling me that because of my trains...
I was cleaning out the back room the other day and found a full grown Black Widow spider living comfortably in one of the window cutains. Not a good feeling I can tell you. I have co-workers that have never seen one, so I captured her in a jar to show them. I also caught a Brown Recluse out in my shop about six months ago that had a web built inside of an electrical outlet of all places. I guess that's why they call them recluses. If you think that's something, my oldest sister won't come out here to stay anymore because we have snakes so bad, especially in the spring time when they first start coming out of hybernation. Mostly Copperheads.
Everyone stay young at heart. Be talkin to ya later - I hope.

[I don't really know why I told you that.]
Garry, perhaps to keep anyone from sending you a "free cat"? BTW, I think that episode constitutes at least two lives. Rob
Oh. Jerry's buying. Thanks. Just a root beer will do. Hmmmm. Reme, ber the original A&W root beer stands. I think it was much better than today's A&W from the grocery store.
Thanks for showing the progress, Der.
Thanks Rob for sharing the pig photos. Reminds me of some people I knew a number of years back. I had better not mention names.
Yes, microwaves are a necessity now. I know how to cook with them. Everything is fresh (right out of the freezer).
On ebay, they is such a thing as a bid schedulers for the "snipers". If you can't beat them, join them.
Jim CG.... Good luck with the car, but make sure its okay before the next 20 mile trip.
I had a problem with the truck a couple of years ago. I had parked it outside overnight, and in the morning I started it. I had no power brakes or power steering. I shut it off and opend the hood to see white fur flying out all over. Shelley screamed because her cat is white. (That's the goofy cat that did not want us to keep Janet's cat.) We found her cat at the back door where evidently she slipped out when we were out looking at stars or barge tow boats or whatever late the night before. (Don't ask about the whatever.) The cat was rather bloody, but survived. One of nine lives used up; eight to go. The truck needed a new surpetine belt.
I don't really know why I told you that.
Good night, and happy model railroading. (or whatever)
Goodevening Folks: Just a quick drop in to say that the scenery addition is now dry enough to put back in place, and the next thing will be to stain the rock castings. There’s rain forecast for the next two days. That should keep me indoors a bit more…maybe long enough to do that staining. Here’s the view without the plastic strips holding the access hatches apart.
Rob: In the words of the spider in “Charlotte’s Web”, SOME PIG!!!!
Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers continuing for any in need of healing, comfort and peace.

Grooaaannnn!!
Paul, you're just... uh,... "burning up the track" down there, aren't you? And did I hear you say the *W* word? Ohmigosh!!
My car was acting weird on the way over here - lights would dim some, then a fanbelt of some kind would squeal (like a pig, Garry?), and then the lights would come back on - did that several times on the interstate coming back from our small group (about a 20 mile trip). I'd turned off the CD player, shut off the fan and heat to reduce any draw on the current/battery, but it still kept doing that. Possible alternator about to go out, or what? Don't need to have that expense this far from payday.
Jerry, on the auctions, I'd say don't bid on them that early. Tips your hand to anyone else who might be interested. Try to wait until the last couple of minutes to put in your bid. You won't maybe draw in someone with a second automatic bid, and if it goes beyond your maximum you want to spend, you can go on to another auction with what you want. My , for what it's worth.
I'll be at the table, working on my sundae for a little while.
Blessings and a good night's rest,
A cool glass of water is all, please and thank you.
***Garry, what a beautiful view you have there. I could sit out there and watch those "water trains" all day. And speaking of pigs, here's ours:
This is an out dated photo of our rescued pot-bellied pigs, Sweetpea (left) & Bacon Bits (right). They are elder pigs now and one day I'll update the photos on our website.
Have a good night all! Rob
