Chloe, Get me a Coke, a pie for PC, and a straight jacket for whoever wanted to post 6+ times in a row... Wait, he's paying, never mind. Get PC 10 pies instead... I'm not paying. The new guy is.
Had a pretty savage thunderstorm come through a while ago and my trailer took a direct hit. It sounded like a bomb going off! The only damage done was it blew the end off the TV cable out on the pole. All the rest of the energy went to ground. The way my trailer is grounded, the lightning just skins around the outside and goes right to the grounding rods which are all seven feet apart from each other. Guess I need to redo the ground on the cable line. I trimmed the end of the cable back, put a new tip on it and I'm back on-line.

Hope it goes well for your enginehouse, Bryan - what kind of materials are you using (brick, wood, stone)? You know we're gonna want to see some pics once you get further along/done...

Hey Guys,
I'd like to introduce you to my friend, Matt
Good afternoon ...
More comments on the S-1....... Your interest has been noted. I'll let you know when you all can volunteer to come to Cadiz, KY and work on the project.
We moved here 6 years ago, and it was a year or so after that when I saw some mem repainting the S-1 by hand. I thought I would stop and meet the "railfans". That's when I found out the historical society "borrowed" some convicts from a prison to paint the locomotive.
Evidently, their yellow paint was really cheap because now most of it has washed away to expose the light gray primer.
It really is not feasable to consider making it operate again. It's too rusty and too many major components are missing. Much of the steel has rusted.
The idea is to build a replica of depot and the locomotive would be paked next to it. A suiable cabbose might be added. Inside the station would be an operating train layout.
Number 8 was built in 1941 for Tennesee Central.

Oh the swing gate! Yes that has already been built back in March of this year. Here is a photo of the almost finished product (still have to scenic it):
Also, I created a tutorial on the Swing Gate Project too!

Mornin, coffee for me, 3 chocolate milks and 4 doughnuts please Zoe.
Got some good news bout 6:30 from next door, Rachel had her baby today, so Jim got his first granddaughter. It's just a shame Fern didn't live to see her, but even in death, life is renewed it seems and hope for the future; and grandpa's still here to spoil her. At least her sister Martha and nephew got to see the new niece before they headed back to Florida today.
RYAN,, like your track plan, looks like a lot of room for switching moves and continuous operation
STEVE,, congrads on the engagement and it sounds like her daughter kinda likes you, so ya get the best of both worlds there
GARRY,, I'm with you on the computer programs. I tried one and decided a writin stick and paper worked better for me.
Sure hope the switcher project works out, would be nice to see it in new paint at least. Who knows, maybe ya'll can raise enough money top get it rolling on rails again.
DER,, the layout looks great, thanks for the pics.
JERRY good to hear Sally's doing good and she's able to get out some. Sure hoping she gets to come home soon.
JIM CG,,, the rain your getting is suppose to be up here later today through tomorrow. Guessers a say at least an inch plus in some areas from possible thunderstorms.

Will that bridge be a duck-under, swing out/up, or a removable section?

Sniff....sniff.....I can smell that fresh baked homemade bread all the way back here in the corner booth....
Ed - I use 3rd PlanIT track planning software and it is great for the CAD and 3D rendering. In answer to your question, are you referring to the loop that will go over the stairs on the right side of the design plan? If so, the outer edge of the loop is high enough over the stairs to make head clearance for me at 5' 9" without ducking at all, so anyone taller than that will have to duck a bit when coming up or down the stairs.

[Ryan: Great looking plan. When's the ground breaking?
Der John - With the exception of the new loop section that was drawn in an a cross-over on the other section all the remaining track has been put in place. Original ground breaking began in May of 2006. Check out my website link at the bottom of this post for recent information on my layout.
Sue - Yes, 3rd PlanIT is my track planning software, and thanks again!
Jerry - I am assuming you meant Ryan's Steak House, since I do not own a restaurant any more....
Jim - No negotiations necessary, the space for the loop is all open area above the stairs. As a matter of fact she was thinking along the same lines....
Cheers,
Ryan
