Good evening one and all! I discovered today that I can make a half decent Banana-Bran loaf. There were four bananas too ripe for Kris, and too many for me too tackle on a restricted diet. (It’s not just total Carbs, Dick, but where they come on the Glycemic Index ) So Kris said “Why don’t you make some banana bread?”, and shoved a recipe in my direction. It called for 1/3 cup of Splenda®, but that’s far too much, imho, so I used just 6 little packets of the stuff. Turned out not too sweet.
I’m catching up from Sunday, so…

I think DREMEL still makes that for sharpen chain saws or did. I seen them not to long ago, but don't remember where.

In the sixties, downtown San Francisco was kept spotless because they came through evey night and swept and hauled away litter before it had a chance to build up. That's my preference for a look.

I'm going on what it says on the main page, not what's at the bottom of this page. Apparently there's a 1 post difference between the two. According to the bottom of the page, this 1,005 but on the main page it's 1,004.
Must say goodnight, as I think I can get a bit more of the access hatch I’m working on (the largest on this part of the rock wall) finished before bedtime. It’s coming along, but I won’t know for sure until I get to stain the rock castings and see how the joins and cracks look.
Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.

Good evening! Chloe, a cup of coffee and one of those blondies. Yum!
Paul, maybe there'll be so many people there in the pavilion that if you stay in the middle, it'll be as warm as the center of a herd... ? (How warm would the center of a herd be in winter, anyway?). Enjoy your promotion to ROF status, and don't sleep in too late... (or go ahead, that honey-do list will wait, right?
Chuck and Kathy, good to hear that you're not snowed in anymore. Hope Kathy can avoid any more trips to the hospital (or doctor) anytime soon.
OzJim, best wishes on your driving lesson(s) - are you doing it through a school, or private company/agency?
jeffrey-wimberly wrote:A train will sure do one heck of a customizing job on a vehicle.
Customizing? Jeff, I'd call it more like kitbashing...
Inch, good to hear that no crew members (or the car driver) got hurt. Hope for the drivers' sakes that they can get that crossing signal replaced before too long.
Night two of our church's week of prayer and fasting (not to worry - I won't waste away; they're letting us skip lunch, but have dinner and breakfast). Tonight was praying for children and our schools - something they definitely need nowadays. Last couple of days at work have been so hectic that I didn't have time for lunch yesterday, and 'lunch' was pretty late in the day today (ran an errand and got a cup of coffee just to go somewher else and sit down without interruptions. Actually, today I didn't particularly notice missing the meal at all. And, cheaper than South Beach or Weight Watchers...
Supposed to go see one apartment complex (two sizes of apartment) on Thursday night after prayer service. From talking with the manager/owner and her son (who'll be the one to meet me there on Thursday night), they sound more reasonable than current landlord. But I'd like any and all prayers for the right place to be open at the right time, and to be able to work out the deposits and first month's rent arrangements with the new landlord (whether these folks or someone else). Thanks in advance, guys (and gals).
Blessings on 'Hump Day' and the rest of the week (for our working bunch - you ROF's sleep in),

Evening All: Tomorrow is my retirement party. It's going to be held in the picnic pavilion. The pavilion has a roof but no sides and of course no heat. The weather is supposed to be wet and cold. Figures.
Not mush going on so I'll head for bed. Good Night All

O the CAR - TRAIN wreck there in town. a guy was coming accross the tracks and his car stalled. Tried to push it off, when he couldn't and the train [a W. bound inter-mobil] got close, he just walked off and left it. Car was totaled along with the flashing warning lights. Minor damage to the engine, cow catcher and bottom step on the right side, crew uninjured. Sure messed up rail traffic for 2 hours though.
I had the scanner on and heard EMERGANCY EMERGANCY EMERGANCY SHUT DOWN CSX 1064. That got my notice. Course since they went into emergancy and the damage was minor, they still had to walk the whole train before it could be moved. They finaily got to move it up onto the N. passing track outback to clear the track. Then wait for the black box to be down loaded, before they could head on into Indy..
I'll catch up on the post laters maybe, ya'll have a gooden

Anyone care to join me?
Morning Gang: Yes Dick that is the way I'd like to price our calfs. I just wish it worked that way.
Not much to report this morning except 2 and a wake-up.
I've been cleaning up the shop so that the guy coming in will have a fairly clean place to start in. I've known the replacement for a few years and he has a great deal of talent. He'll have to learn the electrical and mechanical stuff but he has the stuff that can't be taught. I'll have him tomorrow to brief and take around to all the stuff that I work on.
Well I've got to get back at it. I'll see you all later.

Good morning everyone, bright , clear and cold morning here today, 19F (-7C) here right now. We have 2" of snow due tonight, but wait until Friday!!!! We are predicted to get a Nor'easter, the first of the Winter season, and it has all the makings of a block buster because the Tropical jet stream and the Northern jet stream are going to "phase" together along the Atlantic coastline. Were're ready, bring it on!!!
Last night I had one of my best nights at bowling ( Candlepin ) that I have had in years, 112 and 105......it guess the medication for my tooth surgery had me very relaxed, LOL.
MRR progress is at the layout planning stage.....I have old maps of New England that show all the RR's that ran in NE, so from that I can beging a layout plan for the routes that I have room to build. One of the industries that I will have is Dairy. Man milk trains ran from farms in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine to the major cities in southern New England. And, I found out that some of these trains were consists of passenger and milk cars, so now I have to look for some passenger cars of that era also.
FERGIE: That is finally some good news for your project on the addition. If you had to enlarge all your waste lines to 4", you would have had quite a disruption to the MESS. Just make sure you all eat Yogurt every day and you should never have to worry about a 3" waste line...LOL Hey, I know my s... ohhhhh never mind, lets not get into a crappy discussion this early in the morning. LOL

PAUL: I have to hand it to you aul, you sure showed that car saleman a thing or two, I am posting your experience because I know that you are too humble to tell the folks here in the Diner, so here it is folks:
A wise old Texas Rancher ( Paul )went to town to trade for a pickup truckhe saw advertised in the paper for an unbelievably low price. After showing the salesman which truck he wanted, they sat down to do the paperwork. The salesman handed the rancher the keys and the bill,to which the Texas rancher ( Paul )angrily declared,"This ain't the price I saw!"The salesman went on to tell the wise old Texas rancher ( Paul )how he was getting extras such as power brakes, power windows, special tires etc.and that made the final price higher. The Texas rancher (Paul) wanted only that truck and no other,so he begrudgingly paid the price and drove it home.A few months later, the salesman called the Texas rancher (Paul):"My son is in 4-H and he needs a cow for a project.Do you have any good cows for sale?""Yep, I've a few good cows priced to sell at $500 each.Come on out and take your pick."The salesman said he and his son would be right out. After spending a few hours in the field checking out all the rancher's ( Paul )cows, they decided on one and the salesman proceeded to write a check for $500."Now, wait a minute, that's not the final price of the cow. You're gettin' extras and you have to pay for those, too!""What extras?" asked the salesman."I think you'll find all you're gettin' listed here!"BASIC COW - - $500.00Two tone exterior - - $45.00Extra stomach--$75.00 storing equipment - - $60.00Straw compartment - - $120.004 Spigots @$10 ea - - $40.00Leather upholstery - - $125.00Dual horns - - $45.00Automatic fly swatter - - $38.00Fertilizer attachment - - $185.00GRAND TOTAL$1,233.00

Chuck: It's good to hear from you again. I'm glade that Kathy is feeling better. Being stopped up like that can be a pain in the rear for sure. That's great that you are getting back to work on the layout. Decent weather does help. Just take it slow and it will be done.
It appears to be about time for bed. I'll say Good Night.
Well then, permit me to start off the next thousand if you don't mind.

Well, the wife is in Florida for the next 2-3 weeks, but I have the kids. I told her that she's going to come back to a fully sceniced RR. Guess I'd best get started since I'm just a little ways into sub-roadbed, huh?
