I really do not like the reality shows, but as your probably aware, I'm a huge sports fan, I watch just about anything, as long as Australia is winning.

OzJim, what'll you be using for roadbed under the track? Cork, homasote/soundboard, or something else? Looking forward to your next batch of pics once you get track going. Do you have a design figured out for the layout yet?
I will most likely use cork, I might however give woodland scenics roadbed a go. The next batch of pics shouldn't be too far away, I'm going to order some track in the next week or so, when I get my week's holiday payed out. I have a rough design, which I'm going to refine in the coming days.

I think I understand what you're saying, to a DCC newbie, it's a little confusing.
I might explain what I plan on operating, There will be one through freight/suburban train, and two shunting (switching trains) the industries (most likely a grain/wheat elevator, a factory and possibly a cattle loading ramp.) I can always upgrade my NCE though, can't I?

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

Ryan,
No, they are Rivarossi. All of our disconnects are Kadee though. The road name was right for our layout so I could not help myself.

Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Holden Express will be a 6,000 foot garden railroad running through the gardens of the Holden Arboretum. If you want to volunteer call Stephanie Galbreath at 440-602-8003. National City bank is the sponsor. The Holden Arboretum is at 9500 Sperry Rd, Kirtland, OH 44094. With the seaway opening on 15MAR07 I doubt I'll have the time to work there.
Every part of my body hurts, LOL just tore up and hauled away 300 sq.ft. Of 65 year old asphalt floor tiles from my Aunts basement. I was going to install the new ceiling in the train room tonight, but I think I will take the evening off.

diners: Another bright sunny day on Nova Scotiia’s eastern shore. The sun was coming in the train room window when I arrived there about ¾ hour ago, shining on the ocean cove and showing up the rock that’s towards the east end of that scene. Since I’m not good at lighting, I thought I’d take advantage of the sun. The dark area is where the layout was in deep shadow.
OZJim: Just a coke? Thanks mate!...I agree, if you don’t go for “reality” shows, the field gets that much more limited. At least Kris recorded “Yes Minister” for me when I was to bed early last night.
3 trains is all I can handle at once too. It’s the change from train to train when one has run its course that I find limiting with the 6 addresses only of the PowerPro. I have been invited to help build a 6,000 foot garden railroad at a local green house. Will have to look into this further.
Fergie: Great news on the 3” pipe being OKed, and that the rest of the reno is going ahead well. Kris’ mom lives with us in a “granny annex” on the seaward side of the house. She has her chair where she can catch the ocean view. When her rooms are being cleaned, she comes into our living room and sits in the sun porch off it, doing exactly what you envision for your Dad. Way to go!
I probably won’t get back In today, as I want to get at the scenery / rockwork / access hatches this evening. I’ve lots of castings ready to saw to size, sand and mount; and about 2 litres of sifted sawdust ready to go, so I’m looking forward to using that.
Word on the street is that we might get Cable high speed before the end of the year. Most likely an ISP other than our dial up provider, and at city prices. (What’s that saying? ... “If it sounds too good to be true it probably is!”)

I'll have the Egg, CB, and Cheese Bagelwich this morning and a cup of coffee, please Chloe? Thanks! And Thanks to Der for buying!
Dick - Forgive my ignorance yesterday. Happy Belated Birthday! I have been wanting to go to Springfield for that show for some time now, but this time of year, one just does not know what the weather will be like for a trip of that distance.
Lee - Nice trades! All looks good to me, as you can tell from my email last night w/ the address. Thanks!
JimCG - Check your email about that article from the other day.
Well all, time for me to get going and get the laundry from the dryer.

Well every thing is moving along now as the Building inspector gave us a by on the plumbing after a couple of phone calls and some pleading by the contractor. We were lucky as this was not a municipal regulation but a National Code. Anything over two Toilets requires 4" pipes. We was lucky. The arguement that was made on my behalf was the house is 18 yrs old, had 4 toilets on the one line with no incident. Plumbing and electrical are all but done except sockets and lights and bathroom fixtures. Now it's the Insulation and drywall that comes next Oh and the Sunroom... Ya we decided to go ahead with the sunroom so Dad can sit in the shelter and look out over the garden when it's too cold.
The layout is covered with plastic untill the electrical and plumbing is hooked up into the rest of the house as more drywall will go flying in the near future.
Talked to Bob (Teffy) last night and he's good but has ISP issues so if anyone is trying to get a hold of him it may be difficult for a while.
Well that's it for this week's sitrep as I get to keep my sanity for another week!!!

Another weekend of lousy weather, talking a light rain and misty drizzle, some maybe freezing. Changing to snow flurries or light snow at times. High today bout 37 [35 now], then temps falling in the afternoon to about 18. Tomorrow, cloudy cold and some light snow. Glad we don't have any big plans this weekend.
RYAN, I use to change all the oil here, but don't have a good place to do it and the boys all have garages, so they do it for me. Their talking like our temps will be on the minus side later this week [thrill]. At least we're not as cold as DICK is for highs yet.
EDGER, hope you enjoy your visit here. I'm in HO, but you N scalers are ok.
PC, I know it can be rough without the boss around, but you'll make it, I do. Hope every thing goes well for her down south.
Dick, hope your jaws feeling better today. I think Cleo saved you a piece a cake.
For all those like me who Rail fan, here's a link to a story on it your rights that was post on Train Board. There's some real good links on laws in it. So the next time some one hassle you over pictures, you know.

Plasma is the way to go. One thing though, we would NEVER go back to a conventional T.V. All the talk about HDTV, LED vs Plasma, back projection etc. has me wondering. Why is it that as the technology for a sharper image improves, the quality of programming takes a dive?... or maybe that’s just a North American blight. Still, I have to agree that when we finally have to get a new set it will most likely be HDTV, and quite possibly LCD, if we can afford it.
Hmm...I'm not too sure on that one...it does seem odd, all these reality television shows, are starting to annoy me...the latest one here is "Australian Princess" where Aussie girls try to win a "princes" heart. I like our Cable.
…Congrats!, enjoy the NCE. I’ve got the Powerhouse Pro, with a walk around, but not wireless, but you have a smaller layout, so may not even need that. One thing, on my Powerhouse Pro, I only have memory for 6 loco or consist addresses. I thought that that would be lots for my layout and stable, but it is sometimes an inconvenience. Just a thought.
Thanks for the tip, on my layout, there won't be any more than 3 trains going at once (double headers) so Powercab should get me by...

Good morning all,

PC: Hope your wife’s trip goes OK …and that the fence mending works out, we’ll pray so anyway.
Time to get back to bed (I went straight after dinner as I wasn’t feeling 100% and want to shake whatever it might be.)
Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort, and peace.
Evening Gang: I loaded up my tool box today. It took 3 of us and a fork lift but we got it in the truck. Getting it off at home was alittle different story. I got the top section off the truck with the front end loader. We took the drawers out of the bottom and loaded the rest out with the loader. It took awhile but everything is back together in the storage shed down by the depot. There isn't enough room in the shop for it right now. 7 days to go.
Nothing much on the MRR front. I did get some more sheet metal on the head frame. I really like this method of doing the sheet metal. The great part is that I don't have to worry about running out. I make it as I go along so no worry about having too much or too little. Also I don't have to worry about messing some up. The cost is so very small.I've got to do something about posting pictures so I can show you guys all this.
Well it's bed time. Daisy is already in and Mary Ann is close to it. I'm gone for now.
Good Night All
Good evening gents, down to 2.8F right now, so we will have another night below zero, a three dog night tonight! Today we not only broke the record, we smashed it, for the record Low High temperature for this date. The previous was 15F, the high today was 8F!!! I tried to go for a swim in the pool, but the doggone ice was too thick to make a hole.
JP: If Drew can stay healthy, we should have a very good RF. He will be hitting in the lineup right after Manny. Tomorrow we are headed to West Springfield, Ma for the big train show at the Exposition Center, more commonly called, " The BIG E". It is probably the biggest model RR show in the country. It runs through Sunday.
CAPE JIM: I can't send you any snow, we don't really have enough. There is barely enough to cover the ground, in fact the grass is showing in areas where the sun hits. As for your Landlord, I can send Whitey down there if you want.

Good Evening, Chloe - how about a mocha frappacino? Yeah, and a steak burrito too, please.
Aw c’mon, PC - you sure your wife's not just heading for Florida because of all that lake effect snow in Indiana? But you still should be able to get a lot of MR work in. Now your phone bill? That might be something else, unless you call off-peak...Hey, Colby - I’m an HO’er (and proud of it!). Probably the ‘Original’ modeling scale (if only by age) would be Oversized or Supersized, since they’ve been around almost since dirt... What scale was Fred & Barney’s club layout? (hint for our younger members in the Diner - Google for ‘Flintstones’... ) Remember that the ‘Horribly Oversized’ term came from those iNvisible MRers (who call their scale ‘Normal’ - and what is ‘normal’, anyway? )JP, not to worry - my preference will be for a place in Cape Girardeau still. I’ll save space and just email to catch you up on the rest. Good luck on getting a house (be sure to check out the basement on any house before you finally decide - you want a good arrangement of available space for the layout!) Dick, can you send us about 10 colder degrees for tomorrow? Looks like we’re only going to drop off into the upper 30’s, and may just get rain instead of a couple of inches of snow. Yeah, I know - you’d be glad to ship us a couple of hopper loads full of snows... Hey, can you have them dump them on my landlord’s house? I can email your shipper the address if you’d like. Anyone heard from Rob L.? (and I forgot his new username - what is it?) Couldn’t figure out how to look up someone’s username in the forum. They’ve hidden how to get to that, I guess.Blessings,Jim in Cape Girardeau
John,
Looks good to me. I sent you an email back asking for your address, check your mail when you get a chance.
Evening all -
It's 6:30pm EST and it's dinner time!
Chloe - How about the Mexican plate you had last night? Ya know, the Buritto and taco's Throw on some Mexican Rice and some Refriend Beans, too. Thanks!
Dick - I see the Sox announced the signing of JD Drew earlier. Any thoughts? What's on tap for the weekend? Anything good going on? As for I, I'm going to lay low as payday is not till next Thursday and I'm running low on funds. Besides, it's down right COLD outside!
Lee - Check your email and make sure that everything is correct and that it's ok to your liking.
Well all, I'm off to get some dinner!
Take Care!
Dick, yep, 30's mid-day is darn right chilly for me! Had to take the electric space heater out of the bathroom and bring it into the garage while I was making my sub-roadbed cuts for the main line loop section of the lower layout deck. 3 hours of cuts is enough for me today!

Good afternoon gents, talk about cold, it is 6.9F right now at 2:30pm and falling, looks like we will not get into double digits today at all.....might have set a new record. It is so cold that the squirrels are only climbing down the South sides of the trees...smart little critters. I saw one with ear muffs on.
J.R. Yes, I see from the layout map that I have where table 99 is, we will stop by to see you......I will have a Boston (B) Red Sox hat on....
RYAN: 30's, that yould be a heat wave for us, but I imagine for you living in New Orleans, 30's are mighty cold. As you can imagine, the wood stove is cranking today!!!!
