Good afternoon. I think that a hot coffee would be just great.
It is stormy here today. I am hoping that the wind doesn't wreck my butterfly bushes. Lazy me. I was hoping to fill the wood shed and then hang them to dry, but I have been distracted.
Last week I worked on the fence, got hay, and worked on the fence some more. I am getting ready for a new batch of calves.
Later, Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Hello everybody.
Coffee and cake for me, please.
Scott...........what an improvement! The picture without cowboy hat and with Sarah in it. Very nice. Hats off to you!.
Good to hear from Sue.. Busy there, right.
Good idea for backdrop, Jeff!
Happy Model Railroading

Good afternoon, Janie, a root beer float and how about a nice steak with some fresh asparagus, please?

PC, are you practicing up to be an ORF, with that schedule you're headed in the right direction! Well, except for the installing the kitty door, maybe...
pcarrell wrote:Um, Im married. I haven't had a "girlfriend" in almost 20 years. Hey, now - better treat the CFO as nice as when she was your girlfriend. You might end up outside of that kitty door..

Um, Im married. I haven't had a "girlfriend" in almost 20 years.
Colby, the moss looks nice so far - keep us updated on that as it goes.
Sue, I bet getting ready for those calves will keep you pretty busy. How many are you expecting to be delivering?
Scott, sounds like a good day at work! On the dance, if they don't play the music you like, you could hum your own and dance to that, right? Keep up the good attitude at work, by the way. Good start, from the sounds of it.
Is there a Red Sox game on the TV? - I haven't seen Dick, Ed, or JP in the Diner this afternoon.
Oh, speaking of the Diner, I scored the Dixie's Diner (the one Scale Structures Ltd. makes) on eBay yesterday. May combine it and a Harriman coach I already started. I'll just need to make different signs for it.
Nice afternoon here - only got into the low 80's (F, upper 20's C) and I just had the windows open and the fans circulating the airflow. No more calls from my primary on-call, which has been nice.
Time to work on this steak, though - PC was kind of eyeing it while I was posting, and we all know that guy's appetite.
Enjoy the rest of your afternoon (and evening) - including those of you taking naps. Duke, wake up! You're hogging half the booth, and Janie said the snoring is way too loud...
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
JimRCGMO wrote: Sue, I bet getting ready for those calves will keep you pretty busy. How many are you expecting to be delivering?
Jim, I buy 4 weanlings from the same breeder, after we butcher the previous batch. I will pick them up when they are ready to go. You know shots, worming, and of course banded so they are steers. I bought hay from the same people so I have had a chance to get aquainted with the babies. If you make pets out of them there is little chance that they will get out. They learn to come running when I go out to the barn.
Garry, How is the NP stuff going?
Larry and I talked about our goals for the layout between now and the end of the year. His goal is to try to finish the curved trestle. That means that I need to get a few things done.
Sue
Evening - I see Sue was just in a bit ago. Just a cup of coffee for me, Janie. I'm still stuffed from that steak and asparagus earlier (well, there was that piece of apple pie that you found me that PC missed...)
Sue, that's a good idea for keeping the calves close to the barn. Probably a little bottle feeding when you'd be there getting the hay didn't hurt, either. I like the NP paint scheme on their diesels (which you probably could tell a little from my paint scheme for my Colorado, Arizona & Western (CAW)):
Actually, one of the SW900/1200 P2K's that I have is in NP livery. If I could only justify how it ended up down in the Four Corners area... But I can easily justify NP and WP freight cars being down that way (well, in my mind, anyway!). I will have interchanges with the ATSF and D&RGW at the ends of my lines, though. (Hear that, Rob? )
I'll sneak another one of these to the corner booth before PC gets the scent of it. I'll be over there when anyone else comes in, Janie.
Mmmm...mmm...mmm... scrumptious!
What day is this??? Waht what time is it? Why is it dark outside? Did I sleep right through Sunday ??? Man......that was some party last night, Ed, JP and I really were stokin the coals!!! And to top it off, the Red Sox have the best record in the American League, so they get home field advantage, and play the California Angels on Wednesday.
ED: you will have to keep me posted on the playoffs, I fly out of Logan on Wednesday morning for Calgary via Denver.
GARRY: Yup, getting everything ready, charging batteries for cameras, cleaning off the flash cards, checking the long range weather forecast for the Cascades and Rockies, especially in Banff and Kamloops. I have a 300mm lense for the D70 for the longer shots, 80mm to 200mm zoom for the closer shots. I was hoping to stop in to some Canadian LHS's but the dollar is now equal to the Maple Leaf, so no bargains expected in the exchange rate.
JEFF: Man those Southern gals are tough!!!! Did PC fix you up with her, or was he pullin yer leg?
SCOTT: When you say you didn't like the music, that is a sure sign your getting older Scott, it's a new younger generation now, and there're into something that I call "Rap Rockin Roll ".
Later guys, gotta run,

Evening Gang: John got the new baler going and it makes the best rolls I've seen. They are real tight and even. We are going to have to find a tractor with a cab. Poor John was wearing a painters hooded coverall, dust mask, and goggles. he did alright untill it got hot in the afternoon. He shut down at 4 and was going to start again in the evening. I guess he'll be finishing tomorrow. The tractor handled the baler just fine.
Since I didn't get to read the paper today I'll cut out and do it now.
Good Night All
Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,
Another beautiful day down here in Paradise. Typical lazy Sunday for us. Of course, being retired, every day is kind of lazy for us.
I suppose I ought to clarify that when I said that Hurricane Lorenzo was a non-event, I meant that as far as we personally were concerned. Low lying areas of Tuxpan south of the river, and several small cities south of here (Poza Rica and Alamo), and people living along the coast south of here did see quite a bit of flooding.
Scott: I've got a lot of stuff to learn, and it's gonna take a good bit of time to get everything down pat.
Jim - no Red Sox game on the tv for me. Not much big league baseball on regular tv down here. ESPN in Spanish caries a couple of games a week. So I've seen maybe 6 Red Sox games all season. Today was the last day of the regular season. Divisional Championship series starts this week.
Actually, one of the SW900/1200 P2K's that I have is in NP livery. If I could only justify how it ended up down in the Four Corners area...
Dick: You will have to keep me posted on the playoffs, I fly out of Logan on Wednesday morning for Calgary via Denver.
That's about it.
Hasta mañana,
Ed

Would it help if I told you I never got to the kitty door?
Kitty door will be from the rest of the house into the laundry room. The cat is an indoors only cat.
As for the other issue, I learned a long time ago that you treat them WAY better then just a girlfriend after you marry them!

Alright, alright.....I'm just messin' with ya! I'll leave ya alone!
I now have a DCC equipped Athearn GP50 running on my layout. My neighbors son traded me his GP50 for my RS3 SP Black Widow. I wasted no time sticking a NCE Silent Running decoder in the GP50. Here's some pics taken during the conversion and a video showing the testing being done afterwards.

Howdy....
Any of Rob's apple pie left?
Dick.... I'm sure you will enjoy the trip. There are some good model train stores in Vancouver area, but now I don't recall names of them or how to get there. We went to Whistler while in BC, and we had the best pancakes imaginable there. There's a great breakfast restaurant in downtown Vancouver with a breakfast "pie" including eggs, sausage, onions, and artichoke hearts along with other good stuff. Can't tell you much more about it now. Of course, food on the Rocky Mountaineer was just fantastic!
Sue... not much NP or other stuff lately. I have been helping Shelley with working on her sister's estate. It's still pretty hard on Shelley. I've worked on a couple of Burlington locos for my sanity breaks. Perhaps I'll operate some NP trains and maybe post a pix of that.
PC ..... you stirred up a bit of trouble concerning our favorite KCS fan. Now, now. Get back to work on that layout!
Jim CG........... any chance of bringing some Cape G. frozen custard again, soon? If not, maybe Ryan can get some.
Duke ... speaking of frozen custard, have you been to Irma's just west of Utica? Good stuff!
Hey guys.
I'll have two scoops of vanilla ice cream, chloe.
Sue: Enjoying the perfect weather?
Jeff: More nice pictures. I never seem to get around to taking any...
Well, I've been assembling my Fantasy-cool-passenger-train. Looked on walthers for some UP cars, and found some, and lots are on sale. I better get the jump on 'em. So far, my fantasy train looks like:
Pullman Heavyweight 70' ACF baggage, Pullman Standard 10-5 sleeper, Pullman Standard 6-6-4 sleeper, Pullman Standard 48 seat diner, Pullman Heavyweight paired window coach, Pullman Standard 64 seat coach, and finally, Pullman Heavyweight observation.
All in UP yellow. I think it'll look great behind my challenger.
Well, gotta go,

Garry, Shelley will be in our prayers. She has lots of work ahead of her. I remember a similar experience. Patience will be the best virtue.
Mark, If you mean horizontal rain. Well, that would be right. It forced me inside today. Just a couple of days ago, I was working outside in a tank top. Maybe that means some layout time.
GARRY: I was checkin the satellite loop over Banff, and also there're local web cam, and the peaks are all covered with snow, so I guess there will be some real nice scenes if the sun is out.
Later,
Just a quick stop by for now, Janie. Cup of hot chocolate to go for me. Thanks!

Actually, Garry (and Duke) - after I had dinner and that apple pie here, I went by our local custard place... Got me a chocolate custard shake. Yum! I'll bring enough for everyone tomorrow when I swing by the Diner. Garry, we'll see about praying for as smooth as possible of a go for Shelley to get things ironed out on Janet's estate.
Jeff - got your PM; now another question for you. Where do you find the photos you print out for using on your backdrops (Or do you use several sources - name the names, man!) They look like there's a lot of detail in them, and some of the places I've seen online don't have free/inexpensive photos with that much detail in them. Thanks!
PC, good to hear you're keeping on your wife's good side (especially if she swings a mean cast iron skillet...)!
I'd better get home to bed now. See everyone tomorrow!
Blessings and a good night's rest for all,

Bit of a wet one here today so far. Weather guesser is calling for 78 degrees and spotty showers ending later this afternoon. Right now it looks like this........
Well, another weekend gone and I didn't get to work on the layout. Gotta make that a higher priority!
I did take the wife and my son up to visit my parents yesterday though. Dad's health is not so hot, so I've been trying to drive up to see them or at least call and see how they're getting along every week or so.
So whats up with all of you?

So thanks Dick.

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
Good Morning, Diners - Zoe, a cup of coffee, please. Thanks!
Oh yeah, I promised Garry and Duke to bring some custard concretes and shakes, didn't I. Well, here you go.
It was kind of cloudy this morning on the way to w**k, but it's cleared off and is sunny currently. Supposed to reach the low 80's/upper 70's today, so should be a nice day.
Not sure what was going on, but this morning from home I was having trouble accessing the forums or a PM. But I'm able to get there from here, so all is well for the moment, and hopefully it will have fixed itself by tonight.
Jeff, got your PM - I think that's the same place I'd visited before. Might have some of the images I need on another drive, but will have to wait until I get home tonight. Thanks for the info and tips on the backdrops!
Ah, the paperw**k awaits (like a snake in the grass, waiting to bite me in the...). Time to get back at it.
Blessings on your week (and new month),
Concretes for breakfast?
I will just have coffee.
