Evening, Chloe - Any of the butterscotch pie left? Wow!! [wow] you mean PC missed that one?

Oh, yeah, I can understand, as focused on the Key Lime pie as PC was earlier... Wink [;)]

Scott, excellent(!) job on your training - keep up that good attitude, and you will continue to do the Diner proud!  Bow [bow]Bow [bow]

Nigel, those chains looks good - are they in HO scale? If they are, I might have to consider some of those myself.

So Jeff, has the engineer on the derail been interviewed yet? Good to hear you have that (disorganized arrangement, not-to-be-confused-with-a-certain-RR-line, Fergie... Whistling [:-^] Whistling [:-^]) cleaned up before the HazMat crews arrived.

Jerry, I'm with you - I've stopped even looking for the highlights of the Cardinals games. In those famous words, "Ah, well, there's always next year..."Sigh [sigh]

Garry, I just want to know how soon Dick will have a tanker car of that apple cider headed for the Diner. I'll have mine with cinnamon sticks (once it gets in here). Yum!

Got my pie finished - think I'll head home for a good night's rest. See you all in the morning!

Blessings and a good night's rest,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

A large slice of anything chocolate will do, pie, cake, whatever. Thanks!

***Jeffrey, nice derailment there. Hope that lard doesn't start leaking out. Would sure make a mess...yuck!

***Scott, welcome back and CONGRATS on the perfect score. No surprise there.

***Nigel, those chains look great and certainly much nicer than any kind of rubber band.

***Paul, very sorry for your loss of Kraussmeyer. As many dogs as we have lost over the years, it still is not easy to lose an old friend. Kraussmeyer sounded like fun dog.

Busy morning here tomorrow so hitting the hay early. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Ahhh last call for a cold drink on this very warm night...69F at midnight on September 26th at 72.5North Latitude, not too shabby I would say.

GARRY: The trip starts from Logan Airport in Boston at 7am next Wednesday. As for pie, yes the very pleasant aroma of fresh cooked Apple pie is everywhere here in New England right now, sort of like the smell of steamed clams or lobster along the shore roads of Maine.

ED: All you need to do Ed, is get here to Leicester, Ma, anyone can join the Seniors, don't have to be from our town to come along. You have a week to get here. Magic number is "2" !!!!!!!  It is beginning to look like we will play the Angels. The Yankees can have Cleveland.

PAUL: Sorry to hear about your dog, they are like family members when they are with you 12 years aren't they? I sure miss our dog Sheba, and Rosie the cat.

Well, time for bed, midnight here under a full Harvest moon....

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Mornin' everyone!

Ready to "Go Get Um!" this morning!

We had some much needed rain yesterday and we still have a few lingering showers, but overall it should be real nice today.

I start an online class tonight for college.  I haven't done one of those yet, so we'll see how it goes!  Since I have all of my required classes done, I now get to just take stuff I want.  As the registrar said, I could take underwater basket weaving and it'd count!  This class is on the literature of C.S. Lewis.  It should be fun, though I'm not sure I remember how to pleasure read any more.  I haven't done that in a while!  Not to fear though.....I balenced out the rest of my semester with Business and Ethics classes.

So what's up with you all?

Good morning....

I like Nigel's flat car load of pipe with the chains. Anyone else have progress to report?

I bet Dick's getting excited. The big trip begins at the airport next Wednesday morning.  I'm certain he will enjoy it.

I hope by now Dick has dispatched the carload of cider to the diner.  I heard it may be routed via Jeff's line, and Jeff has arranged special handling to avoid a derailment  of the car. Any truth to that, Jeff?

I recall the trips to the cider mills in Michigan. Their donuts were the best, too.

The Army sent out some trrops to pick apples. It was the Apple Corps.

Happy Model Railroading

Our dog Kraussmeyer passed away last night. I went out to feed him and Elly May and he was laying by his pool like he was asleep. When he didn't get up when I called I went in the yard and saw he was dead. He must have died in his sleep. There was no sign of struggle or damage of any kind. We buried him with the others in the woods out back of the house. He was 12 years old and came to me at Six Flags. He was a large goof ball that loved to have his belly rubbed.

and a root beer float on special, too! Yeah!! [yeah]

Thats a good read Derrick, though I'd question some of those.  I'm not sure that an anemone, a barnacle, or a jellyfish can jump for instance.  Or how about a protozoa?  Just a thought.  Fun stuff though!

Edit:  I'll snag this page guys!  Order up!

Funny, but a number of them are false. You can check some out on the "snopes" website.

in a Southern mug, please and thank you.

All done with the morning I-Law stuff and am waiting on the farrier (who didn't make it out the other day). Won a little old Atlas FM "C" for under $10 (which included shipping). If it runs, great, if not, I have some spare parts for it. I know they are junkie little things, still wanted a second one to go with the unit I already fixed up. Besides, the price was right.

Have a great day all. Cowboy [C):-)]  Rob

Here's another one.....

In fact, It's very important!

Use a straw or wash all cans

This incident happened recently in North Texas ; It could easily happen here....

A woman went boating one Sunday taking with her some cans of coke which she put into the refrigerator of the boat. On Monday she was taken to the hospital and placed in the Intensive Care Unit. She died on Wednesday.

The autopsy concluded she died of Leptospirosis. This was traced to the can of coke she drank from, not using a glass. Tests showed that the can was infected by dried rat urine and hence the disease Leptospirosis.

Rat urine contains toxic and deathly substances. It is highly recommended to thoroughly wash the upper part of soda cans before drinking out of them. The cans are typically stocked in warehouses and transported straight to the shops without being cleaned.

A study at NYCU showed that the tops of soda cans are more contaminated than public toilets (i.e).. full of germs and bacteria. So wash them with water before putting them to the mouth to avoid any kind of fatal accident.
Please forward this message to all the people you care about. (I JUST DID)

Evening, Diners! Chloe, I'll have a nice bowl of chili and a glass of milk, please. Thanks, PC!

Oh, and please pass the grated cheddar, too, Chloe. Thanks a bunch!

Derrick - 'fraid only one part of that 'ratty' soda story is true. See this Snopes.com page:

     http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/raturine.asp

The Snopes site is a good one to use for double-checking stuff you get in emails....

I'll be over in the corner booth working on my chili if anyone else comes in, Chloe.  Thanks!

Blessings,

in a Union Pacific mug, please & thank you!

That little FM "C" came today and it runs well. For under $10 I can either keep it or sell it for double my money back and put that towards one of the new Katos I have been drooling over. Noticed this model doesn't have the "spring loaded pick-ups" of my other Atlas, so am wondering if this was a second version?

No InLaws in the house now. Finished moving beds and getting them settled. Must say, I feel "WONDERFUL" tonight.Big Smile [:D] Perhaps my BP will continue to return to more healthy levels.

Hey all.

Went to the LHS today, saw a purdy looking P2K GP9 in SP black widow scheme. Guess what? I didn't resist.

Bye-Bye $100, hello GP9!

As for more good news, Don Drew, my grandad's old boss at PFM, is giving me the prototype sound system from 1960, the whole reason my family moved out here. I guess I might need a toggle switch to change from DCC to the PFM sound...

Well, gotta go.

Evening Gang: We got the cattle all  vacinated today. It was pretty hot in the sun. When we were down to the last 4 the vet told me to get in his truck that was running and cool off. He said my face was very red. I did and it helped. The vet is a class mate of our daughter. He really goes all out for us. I'm affraid that he really got a work out since he had a new assistant and she really didn't know how to handle cattle. Since I had to work the squeeze chute he had to get them into the crowd chute and then climb over the fence and do the shots. He really is a good one. The next time I'm going to make sure that he brings more help or we have some.

Thank you all for the thoughts about Krauss. He was a good one all right.

My friend with cancer called tonight and said that he was at the hospital today. The news is not good. The cancer has spred all through his body. I guess he has accepted the enevatable. It's got me down tonight. Thanks for listening.

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,

Rainy day today down here in Paradise.  Cool [8D]  With Hurricane Lorenzo coming straight in here I expect that tonight and tomorrow morning will be more of the same.  Fortunately, like Hurricane Dean, Lorenzo is a relatively small hurricane, and only a Cat 1.  We don't expect any significant problems.  So if I'm off the air tomorrow it will just be RPO.  That's Regular Power Outage, not Railway Post Office.  Unusual for us to get hit with two hurricanes in one season.

Paul - bad news on a couple of fronts for you.  Sorry about Krauss and also for your friend.  We lost one of our dogs last year and just got a new puppy to replace her the day before yesterday.  So far the other dogs have pretty well accepted him, so we're over that first hurdle.

Sounds like you're working physically harder now that when you were at Six Flags.  You need to work more on your naps.

Rob - good news on your front finally having the house back to yourselves.  That looked like it was going to be a tough situation.  Hope your BP continues to normalize.

Jerry - if you don't get one of those shorty Harrimans you ought to just consider cutting down the full length car that you have to use for your diner.

Guess that's about it.  The coffee and home made Key Lime pie (yeah, the last piece) were both good.  Dinner [dinner]  You guys should have been here to share.  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

But I was still thirsty after the coffee and went down and got me a can of coke.  Kind of tasted funny, maybe almost sort of contaminated.  I don't know what rat urine tastes like but maybe I should have..... washed off....  that   cccc  aaaa   nnnnnnnnnnnnn..........  Dead [xx(]

Morning all!

After getting welcome rainfall the past couple of days, skies have cleared this morning. We can expect plenty of sunshine with highs in the middle 70s. The normal high for this time of year is now 73 degrees. It should be great for those high school football games tonight. It will be clear with readings in the low 70s by 7PM. Once the sun goes down temperatures will quickly drop into the mid 60s.

Well, I started my online class last night.  I got so much done that I'm now basically 2 weeks ahead of the class.  Perhaps I ought to pace myself, huh?

Oh, thanks for the coffee Chloe!  No, I don't need any cream or sugar.  Wouldn't want to spoil a perfectly good coffee with all of that fufu stuff! ;D

I think this weekend it might be good to get a few projects done before the nasty winter weather hits.  Any of you all doing the same?

Oh, and I guess Ed's going to be picking up oranges this weekend.  I saw that storm headed towards you last night on the news and even commented to the wife that you were going to be getting it.  Do those things mess with your crops much?

Good Morning, folks! Zoe, a cup of

a glass of milk,

and some cereal (those round ones).

Thanks!

PC, careful or you'll louse up the grading curve... Wink [;)]

Paul, I'd agree with Ed - you sound like you're getting a workout there. [whew!] Remember the ORF Code does specify you're supposed to fit in your required (and optional) naps per day. You don't want the ORF Steward coming after you...Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Sorry to hear about your friend, on top of losing Krauss. It was sad when we lost our dachshund years ago (when I was a wee one myself). Will remember your friend (and you, and his family) in my prayers.

Ed, stay dry and we'll see you back on after Lorenzo gets clear of your area (and they fix the RPO). Uh, that's after you recover from whatever that can had... Wink [;)]

OzJim, good to see you're alive and well. Let us know what you've been up to, the next time you drop by.

Nigel, that's a very respectable load for your flatcar. Thumbs Up [tup] I'll be asking my LHS to order me in some of those chains, I think.

Mark, good score on the Geep! What RR line was it in, or will you be re-painting it?

I won some P2K boxcars on eBay last night - four UP, 50' automobile ones, for  under $17 (with shipping). They don't have trucks or couplers, but I still have plenty of Kadee couplers for them, so I'll just pick up some trucks at our LHS (or check if I have any extra ones from cars I'm not using anymore). I was pleased at getting them.

I'd better finish up my cereal - need to get ready for my 9:00. God was gracious to me, and I didn't have any calls out last night. (Did wake up around 2:30 - the usual 'checking if the pager went off', and took a bit to get back to sleep, so I went over several people on my Angel [angel] list. Better use of my time than fretting about the sleep, I think.

Sunny day predicted for here today - 85 F, but cool again tonight (40's). Getting to be Indian summer weather now, since the ground got some rain and the front's moved through. Smile [:)]

Blessings on your FRIDAY!

Hallo,

It's good to see that everybody is okay. I know somethin' that you make you happy:

Tequila and Salt

This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror

where one could read it every day.

You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. There are at least two people in this world
that you would die for.

2. At least 15 people in this world
love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you
is because they want to be just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone,
even if they don't like you.

5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you
before they go to sleep.

6. You mean the world to someone.

7. You are special and unique.

8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

9. When you make the biggest mistake ever,
something good comes from it.

10 When you think the world has turned its back on you
take another look.

11 Always remember the compliments you received.
Forget about the rude remarks.

So.........

If you are a loving friend,

send this to everyone,

including the one that sent it to you.

If you get it back, then they really do love you.

And always remember....

when life hands you Lemons,

ask for Tequila and Salt and call me over!

Good friends are like stars........

You don't always see them,

But you know they are always there.

'Whenever God Closes One Door He Always Opens Another, Even Though
Sometimes It's Hell in the Hallway'

I would rather have one rose and a kind word from a friend while I'm
here than a whole truck load when I'm gone.

Forward to all your friends.

And don't tell me you're too busy for this..

Don't you know the phrase

'stop and smell the flowers'?

See how many 'bouquets' you end up with!

Happiness keeps You Sweet,

Trials keep You Strong,

Sorrows keep You Human,

Failures keeps You Humble,

Success keeps You Glowing,

But Only

God keeps You Going

Evening, Diners! Chloe, I'll have a nice bowl of chili and a glass of milk, please. Thanks, PC!

Oh, and please pass the grated cheddar, too, Chloe. Thanks a bunch!

Derrick - 'fraid only one part of that 'ratty' soda story is true. See this Snopes.com page:

The Snopes site is a good one to use for double-checking stuff you get in emails....

I'll be over in the corner booth working on my chili if anyone else comes in, Chloe.  Thanks!

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Thanks for correcting me.
