Fergie - whose signals (brand, model, etc.) are you going with? I've thought about getting signals, and haven't decided just yet which to try. Let us know how the ones you have are (ease of assembly, durability, how well they work, etc.). Nice ship there, by the way.
Colby, any more recent pics of your moss-grass?
Better get myself back to the paperw**k....

***Fergie, PLEASE tell that is NOT a model ship!
***Colby, although a novel idea, I will 2nd what Jeffrey said about growing it indoors. It will have potential for negative health issues over time. Take it from one who HAS those health issues, at least in part from mold exposure. If the layout is in a garage, then go for it and keep a close eye for any growth other than moss. Still, probably not worth the risk.
Today was a hay run, so the critters are all happily eating away.

Hey, Rob, I'll have mine with some strawberries, please. Thank you!
Hi Gang: This is a note to mark my place. It's about time to go and get the cattle out of the pasture. I put them in the small pasture below the barn so it won't be as big a chore getting them out.
Rob I'd like to be able to help you out but the cost of shipping would be out of sight.
See you all later.
*Orders 70,000 gallongs of Fudge Marble Ice Cream and 6 tons of syrup*
Hey guys, no homework today! WOO!
I'll have a scoop of ice cream, chloe.
Order PC a full pie, on my tab.
Cederstrand wrote: ***Mark, can you find a suitable UP dome car in another brand (or used)? Is this what you are looking for?... Or are you looking for one of those "full dome" types? Good luck!
Rob, my computer and internet have issues. Could you link me to those pictures, because they're not working. I don't mind full dome or dome dome, as long as it's HO scale, and looks and performs nice, I'm happy. Anyways, what's the fun of having a major passenger train and no dome car?
I wonder when my big boy comes... Do you think the club would let me run a 300 car train, pulled by my challenger and big boy? The challenger can pull 130-140 cars, the blueline big boy has been rumored to pull over 180. Man, I can't wait! (Although, I doubt theres enough room on the layout for 300 cars... Maybe if all the modules were used...)
Well, I think I'll go drum now.
Mark.
Good evening to all, well the bags are packed, ready to go at 4am, I checked the satellites and there is snow in them thar hills of Banff. And, there is snow forecasted during the train ride from Banff to Kamloops, so the photos could be very "interesting". This will be a first for me taking Digital photos from the train in snow at elevations averaging 7500', so I hope I don't screw them up, you get one chance at some things in this life, this is more than likely one of them.
I will be OOA from the Diner until October 11th, so I hope that everyone behaves.
COLBY: Yes , the Patriots are 4-0, but after last nights win, and scoring over 20 points once again for the 4th time, did you know that it broke a record set way back in 1920?? Opening four straight wins and scoring more than 20 points in each game. Now that is a long time record.
MARK: Listen Mark, you must know by now how much Jim like to stir the pot in the Diner.....we all know how you hate Chocolate Cream pie, and Apple Pie with ice cream on top, or Blueberry pie, Custard pie, Key Lime pie, Pumpkin pie, Squash pie, Strawberry Rhubarb pie.
See you guys later,

I'm certain that Dick will enjoy the trip because as I've said We've been on it. No food in the diner will match what's served on the Rocky Mountaineer, also. ...errrrrrrr well ....... maybe.... Chef Ryan can womp up great stuff ......... and uh well, that key lime pie from "paradise" sounds good, Ed. ...but .. I'll never forget the champaign breakfast before we started rolling out of the station. You can't beat the scenery.

Well, one last for me tonight, in a Southern mug. Rob
Evening Gang:
Fergie: I hope that they get that packing gland fixed pronto. I'd hate to be the one that kept you away from you play.
Dick: Bon Voyage.
Not much here. We got the two half ton pickups serviced and not much else. Well I'm going to hit the sack.
Good Night All
Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,
Another lazy day down here in Paradise. Tried to head out to the grove yesterday but the river was still up too much for the cable ferry to operate. We had showers off and on all day so who knows if we'll be able to cross the river tomorrow.
Not much to report from here. Just wanted to check in.
Dick - enjoy the trip. I'm sure you will. That's a beautiful corner of the continent.
Hasta mañana,
Ed
Chloe, please get Mark a half gallon of his favorite ice cream....on my tab!

ZAP!
Good morning ! from Indiana.

Good Morning All,
A regular to go and one of Bills' donuts please Zoe. It's mid sixties overcast and drizzly this morning with a chance fof showers throughout the day.
What a long strange trip this is turning into to paraphrase Jerry Garcia. Back from VIR, getting ready for Lime Rock this weekend, then Sunday off to Topeka Kansas for a week at the SCCA runoffs. When I have time to log on I'm too tired and when I'm not, I'm too busy. I had planned on stopping in Roanoke on my way back from Danville, but the motor for the Datsun leaving for Topeka yesterday was late so I ended up leaving the track a day early (the guys covered for me) and driving straight back to the shop to get things in order. Did run a couple of state roads in Virginia on the way back - wahoo - as much fun as some of the tracks we go to - twists and turns galore up hill and down. Did I mention I brought my Focus since I needed to drive back early?
Got some N scale house kits to do for the museum, but no time to work on them yet. A couple are wood and one is photo etched brass which I've never tried before. The iNpossible displayis running ok now that we've gone through and fixed the track where it was out of gauge gone through the rolling stock and keep the locomotives lubed. Currently we're running PA's and a DL-109 though I really should get an FA running or go back to the RS-2 which is what ran the local freights out of here in the Fifties. My excuse is we're still working on them, but the truth is I just really like the DL-109's.
Haven't kept up with the news, but I hope all is well and those in sick bay are getting better. CUL, J.R.
Morning, Zoe - just a JR regular, and a chocolate donut to go, please. Thanks!
Not much more news for me since last night. Sent payment off yesterday for my last 2 current eBay buys that will be coming in (in a few days). Getting another P2K gondola kit and the Dixie's Diner I mentioned earlier.
Well, time to head out for now. Prayers for those in need of comfort or healing, and for those travelling (and for any other needs).

It's in my room and I keep the windows open all day and all night. None of my family has allergies to moss but I'll keep an eye on it. Also I have dirt between the underside of the moss and the area were it is on my layout, same with the moss in the styree foam. If I notice anything strange with the moss or the suronding area I'll scrap the idea.
and I'll pay for today. Root Beer in a Maine Central Mug. The biggest one you can find.

Well, it's a little earlier than I have my root beer floats, but okay, Colby!
Good to hear that you're keeping the room well-ventilated, though. I guess moss doesn't grow fast, huh?
Have a meeting this morning at work. One of those you-don't-the-topic kinds where you wonder what's up and what changes they will be doing. Hmmm....wonder, wonder...
Well, better get myself ready for the meeting. Later!
Hey all.
Just stoppin in before school.
PC: Thanks, I guess I'll share it with my parrot. He likes the stuff quite a bit.
Still not having luck with UP domes, so far theres IHC, Rivarossi, and an old walthers one that's out of production, and none on Ebay. I guess for now, it'll be a domeless train.
Mark

Afternoon folks!
Been busy with work and also updating my Piedmont Division web site as well, I updated the look and feel a bit and added a new blog site too. Check out my weblog button below this post if you have time.
Thanks for all the replies on my roundhouse / turntable project!
Got an email from Duke and he is supposed to be hitting the road today for the trip to Apex, as the live steam event is scheduled for this weekend, Oct. 5 - 6. Sorry to hear the coal fired live steam is a no-go for this time around due to the drought conditions, but hope to have some fun on the propane and diesel powered locos anyway!
I'll be making a batch of my Cajun Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya and bringing it for the folks to eat at lunch on Saturday.
Now for some catch in up to do.....
PC - where on earth did you find that photo? LOL
Jerry - I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product of the roundhouse project too! I have a large punch list made out for the steps still to making it happen. Hope Sallie is better now, sorry to hear she was in the ER.
Mike - I see another batch a yer famous ash beans was on the fire at the c-ground! And like Duke said....the more you eat, the.......
Rob - is it yer BD yet? Happy Birthday! Mine is in exactly 4 weeks from today!
Garry - thanks for the photo image process with MR! BTW, in the November MR there is a good article on taking layout photos and using a photo imaging software tool to combat the focus and field of view issues you mentioned.
JimRCGMO wrote: Ryan, I forgot to say earlier, but I really liked your photos of the roundhouse project. Did you have to add interior wall details on that back wall, or did it come with that pattern? It looks good, whichever way it was. And when will you put a little rust on the safety rails, to go with the rust on the girder sides of the turntable?

Jim - Thanks for the interest and the remarks on the project! In answer to your question, the roundhouse is an old Suydam metal kit, and the walls are a corrugated metal material with the pattern stamped right on. I helped my dad build that back in the mid 1970's and it in the original configuration with no modifications since. I have a whole punch list of items to get it renovated and detailed some more. Check out my weblog site (button below) to see a new post on the details and a progress report. And that is quite an impressive list your club has for the redo on layout!
Scott - Sounds like a good day of working on the railroad! You make a nice couple too! Couple of questions: I sent you a PM a few days ago, did you get it? And what music do you like?
Hey Sue - Nice to see you around! Temps getting lower your way? And speaking of goals, I just typed out a new punch list for my layout, going to keep me busy for some time....now I just need to work the plan!

John (JP) - Nice to see you drop in the Diner! Say hello to the g/f and stop by more often!

Well, any one of them is fine, as long as it looks nice. If they made the City of Los Angeles dome diner I'd be happy.
Gotta run,
