Good morning, cloudy here today so far, but it is supposed to clear by noontime, still very cool here so far for August. Just waiting for the Stove installers to show up, they are due any minute.
MIKE: That is good news for Pellet purchases, if the price stays put, but with the number of users increasing every year, I wouldn't wait too long to make your 2007/08 purchase Mike, the prices could spike quickly if we get an early cold wave this Fall. That stream looks so picturesque, what a beautiful spot!!!
J.R. : Listen, you have to drive the car back home right? You will be taking the Mass Pike right? You will be getting off the Pike at I-84 exit right? So drive west on route 20 after you exit the Pike, take route 148 north, and just after you pass under the Mass Pike overpass, look for Warren road on the left, it should be the first or second road on the left, it takes you into Warren. The drive is only about 20 minutes.....isn't that worth the side trip to Tuckers Hobbies ??!!!
ED: From the satellite view this morning, it looks like you will take a direct hit from Dean, but the winds are down to CAT1, and the tidal surge will be very small, however, the area is very mountainous where you are as you obviously know, so the higher elevations will wring out copious amounts of water from the tropical clouds. Flooding will be a major issue as water roars down the small streams from the mountainsides.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARK!

Hey y'all.
I had a really long post going...But then for whatever reason, my browser went back a page and my post was lost. So I'm gonna sum it up real quick.
Nothing new to report with NS. Still waiting for medical records. Hopefully I'll get them soon, or else I'll keep bugging them about it. I can't wait to start and head off to Georgia for training. I'll get to meet Rob and see a town I've always wanted to. And I really need the money...
I've been working with my best friend of 10 years. It looks like I'm makin' an N scaler out of him. We'll be moving furnature around to give him space for a layout which we are currently planning for him.
Fergie and Garry: My thoughts and prayers for both of you and both of your families. Keep strong.
And I do believe a is in order for MARK!
I'm out y'all.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes and JIM for the cake!
I'll have a slice of the cake and a coke please chloe.
I offically turn 13 at 4:22 PM Pacific time.
Later on the family will come over and we'll have a party, and maybe there will be TWO new engines sitting in my invisible non-existant roundhouse. Or maybe a couple cymbals. Those are fun too.
Grayfox: I was saving up for the BLI blueline one once it was announced in late may, and P2K doesn't make one. They do make a Y3 2-8-8-2, which is somewhat close.
Hey PIE CONSUMER! I brought some PIE, just for you. And some for whoever wants it.
Thanks all, gotta run now.

Oh calmdown I only missed placed 2 letters and yes I did know that Maine was part of Mass. untill 1820 when it became the 23rd state. On the subject of the MNGRR's rent issue. The MNGRR release an article that was in the Portland Press Herald stating the Narrow Gauge RR could become no-more un-less that rent is paid. The 'Master Plan' was that by getting this article into the paper people will become aware that this valuble treasure of Maine railroad history, and generaly a part of Maine's tranportation history could be lost forever, and genetate public interest in the Narrow Gauge, and hopefully increase monthly ridership and profit generated by people either donating, riding the train, buying merchandce in the meusum, and by hosting large event's like the recent Muggle Fest wich the Narrow Gauge was paid a down payment of $3,200.00 to have the Hogwarts Express pulled by Monson #4 (0-4-4), and the up comming National Narrow Gauge Convention Aug 29. through noon on Sept. 1st.
BTW. We like the hobby (obsession for others) of Railroading, but being the NYY fan I am. Boston will have to wait a nother 86 years for a World Series Title either being beat by the NYY or some other team. Tampa Bay Devil Rays you don't have to worry about.
PC, back away from the pie.

MAKE ME!
Afternoon all
Looks like quite a bit going on today with a birthday boy Mark and all the to do with the PIE.
ED Haven't seen the weather yet so hope everything is ok S.O.T.B.
Inch We saw some nice country down JimCG's way when we went on vaca and the mountains and streams look a lot like what we see when we go the Virginia to see the oldest daughter, son in law,and granddaughters.
Not much more to say so here we go again.
That's about it
Best to all on sick call and those recovering
Talk to you later

Another Please and if there is any of Mark's Birthday cake left, another big slice of that as well. Thanks!
***Duke, nice bridge on that layout. Do you have any other photos of it? My wife would go nuts over that place. Perhaps one day she will have a garden layout, but I suspect it will only be a loop of track that comes out of a hill and around a koy pond. That stuff is expensive!
***Mike, that stream looks quite peaceful and inviting. Wish we had some of that water here. Our creeks are dry as a bone and it's going to take a major tropical depression to come along and sit on us to make much of a difference. Well continues to hold up for the moment...gulp!
Hope everyone is having a good day! Back to installing grab bars in the guest bathroom for the Inlaws. (Oh Joy...NOT)
Duke: The garden layout looks real good.
Here's a pic I worked on today.
One lastthis evening in any old mug, so long as it's clean. Thanks!
Jeffrey, are you sure you aren't using Photoshop to super-impose model figures in full scale real life scenes!?! That is some SUPERB realism. Well done!

Hello all!We came through the storm just fine. The only major problem was losing power (and thus the computer and internet connection) from about 0500 until just a short while ago. Some rain (not as much as expected), and yes, we did need it anyway. Some wind, but nothing really high or destructive. The storm never had enough time to strengthen very much after crossing the Yucatan Peninsula.
I don't know how much the remaining system will dump up in the mountains. Guess we'll see by tomorrow afternoon. So thanks for the warm thoughts, and we're now back on line. Now to start catching up.Best regardsEd
Evening, a barley pop please Cleo
JERRY,, good to hear Sally's doing ok. I figure she'll be home afore ya know it.
ROB,,, that stream is inviting if you can stand 46 degree water. It feeds from a spring, 150,000,000 to 275,000,000 gal. a day. It's only bout a ½ mile long before it dumps into the Maramec river [I missed this pic earlier]
It powered an iron smelter and foundry in the early 1800's. I've got some pics of some models and the strip mine to post later
The creeks here are getting low too, almost down to small pools. We haven't had a good soaking rain for over a month. Crops are hurting too, especially the double crop beans.
DICK,, it is a purrty place, kinda reminds me of some places in the Dakotas I've seen.
ED good to hear you made it ok with no big problems.

Evening Gang: I'm tired again. We hauled hay bales out of the felds and put them off to one side. 127 bales in all. Next we have to haul them to the hay lot for storage untill we feed them out. Tomorrow I'm taking my friend on a train trip to the VA hospital in Dallas. He wants me to show him the route and how the ticket despensers work and make sure that he can get there.
Ed: Good to hear that you and the family made it through the storm all right. Mary Ann says hi.
I'm going to take a shower and hit the sack. I'll have to get up early then normal to make the train trip.
Good Night All

Good Morning All,
A regular and one of Bills' donuts please Zoe. I'm happy to hear the good news that Ed and family are ok and Sallies' doing better. Or prayers continue for those in need.
The trip to Boston was a bust. Came back empty after the buyer had second thoughts after trying the car. No problem though, that's what we're here for - advice as well as preparation. No trip to Tuckers either especially not with the trailer in tow and the customer riding with me. I do go on the web site and do check out their wares at Springfield every year if that gives you any comfort Dick.
We saw a video on African steam power at the museum last night. Some pretty unusual stuff, and lots of it through the 70's. They had a British built articulated that looked for all the world like two centipedes carrying a boiler. At 170+ tons it wasn't to be messed wth though.
Well lots to do today and I'd better get back to it. CUL, J.R.
Morning all!
Boy, am I draggin' this morning!
I was up WAY to late last night!
I hear it's going to be a hot one again today. Got up to 99 down a bit south of us yesterday. Thats a little too toasty for comfort. Weatherman says the high temperature in Indianapolis Wednesday hit 94 degrees, and we are expecting to tack on a few degrees today, and could challenge the record high for today. Heat Index Values will be anywhere from 100 - 105. Sounds like a party, huh? Wait a minute......didn't we just do all of this a week or so ago?
Ed, glad to hear you made it through OK!

Sounds like a Garrett! Wild looking things, huh?
Well, I'd best hit it for the day!
Later!

Afternoon,, I'll have the blue plate special n ice tea Zoe
Hot n humid, got 90 now and some part time breezes. Schools getting out early today because of the heat
These are of the strip mine there. Mining was started in the 1826 and went to 1876
All the blasting was done by black powered and the work was by hand using shovels, sledgehammers and picks. Then load into wagons by buckets, each wagon hauled about 5 ton, pulled by 4 ox or 6 mules to the smelter, bout a mile away.
Best get round, got some things to do before it get any hotter
Morning guys!
I had a good birthday, hope y'all had fun with the pie and cake too.
I got a nice new Paiste PST-5 Thin crash cymbal, 18", sounds real nice, and a Pearl boom stand to hold it, $100, and $50 more as a gift certificate to the LHS, a tub full of goodies, House season one, and Mythbusters collection one.
Still a little early to be drumming.... Darn.

easy way we get the Trackside Police in here. the Hard way is Cloe, Zoe, and Flo tackle you, hang you by your toes and watch everyone else eat the pie.
PC's respon like this '
Afternoon folks!
Not much to report from here, except that the heat wave shows no sign of ending any time soon.
Tomato crop is coming into full swing again, gave some away at work today!
Ed, glad to hear that you got little damage from Dean and some much needed rain.
Thoughts and prayers for those in need!
