If there is any freshmade, I would like some in a Southern mug please & thank you!

***Fergie, sorry to hear of your Dad's decline. It's never easy to watch. My sympathies to all involved.

***Jeffrey, how long have you been working on that layout? Is there any detail you left out anywhere? Wonderfully rendered scenes, or should I say "Slices of Life" along the rails. Obviously much thought goes into your work. When I think of trying to create a layout from scratch that contains that kind of detail, it seems almost overwhelming a prospect. But anything less than that, just wouldn't seem right either.

Finished laying the livingroom floor. Now just have a little in the entry way which I'll tackle tomorrow and one more project will be completed. Have a nice night everyone!

Evening Gang:

Fergie I'm thinking about your dad. I'll say one speicial one for him.

Sue: Good to see you back. A 20 car hopper train now. I assume that there are a few Milw RD cars in there.

Mary Ann and I hauled hay today. We got all the first cutting hay in. They didn't bale today still too wet. It did dry out by this afternoon so I hopw that they will bale tomorrow afternoon after the morning dew drys off. Tomorrow morning we are going to take Mary Ann's tractor in for a water pump. Since it will take three days or so I guess I'll have to do the hauling alone.

Well I guess I'll head for bed.

Good Night All

Evenin', Janie - I'll have a hot fudge sundae and a cup of the TH, please, since Jeff's covering the tab. Thanks, Jeff!

Ah, but the real question - can she do scenery well? Wink [;)] She does sound pretty promising so far, JP!

Nscaler, if you start on the Miss. River side (by St. Louis) and follow it down the eastern edge until you get to the next big 'bump', that's about where Cape G. is. Or just do a search on Google Maps or Mapquest for zip 63701...Wink [;)] Actually, I went to Mizzou at Columbia (many, many years ago) after I graduated from high school - for a year and then another semester later. Hey, Jeff, in that one shot of your layout (with the green water tank and the two tracks?), it looks like they have some really big moles near the tracks... Shock [:O]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] And yep, I'd say you have that camera figured out just fine! Sign - Ditto [#ditto] on Rob's comments about your layout - excellent work! Only possible thing missing now might be some spiderwebs around that old steamer next to the enginehouse. Laugh [(-D] But I bet you have that and more planned to do, don't ya?

Rob, that 'unfriendly' neighbor who drained the neighbor's well dry sure has poor manners, all right. Thumbs Down [tdn]Dead [xx(]

Fergie, sorry to hear about your Dad's health. Will be praying for comfort and peace for him and all the family (and medical staff) concerned.Angel [angel] Angel [angel]

I got the radio station tower a bit closer to assembled this afternoon. T'wasn't easy, since most braces are for 90 degree joints and not 60 degree ones. It's mostly rust color now, so once I have it all together, I'll just need to use silver on the parts that haven't got rust on 'em... yet! Wink [;)] I also worked some on the Grande Valley Depot (Woodland Scenics), which I'll be using for a smaller town (between the town size of my Revell Small Town Station and the WS Flag Stop depot).

On Friday, I ordered some Caboose Industries turnout throws, Frenchman River awnings, and some Preiser figures from our MRR club member/LHS owner, so maybe that will come in by payday (Wed.).

Well, I'd better finish up and get going. See everyone later.

Blessings and prayers for comfort, peace and healing (of body and/or soul),

I haven't stopped in here for a very long time...not since the new forum, actually. I shrugged and opened up to see what had been happening.

It's late so I'll leave comment for just one person. Fergie, your father will be in my thoughts for this evening. Actually, as I typed this, I had to suppress a tear coming on as I thought about my grandparents and the truly little time we have to spend with our loved ones. I'm not sure I can really say that I fully understand the pain that you must be experiencing, as I just have not experienced something like this so close to me. I have learned a lot from you and your MESS, so the least I can do is keep your father in my thoughts tonight and for nights on.

Paul, Yes, Milwaukee, NP, & GN.  While growing up, there was a Milwaukee Road line at the back of our fields.  It has changed road names many times since then.

Jeff, You are really busy this weekend.  Lots of great human interest shots.  Your photo backdrops sure add dimension to the photo.

Bed time. Good NightSue

Good day folks!

I'll have a spot of tea and some toast please!

Heat index shows no sign of dropping any time soon. We've been staying indoors much more lately, but not getting any railroading done either.

Duke - Humm....oh.......yes......is getting closer to my BD! Oh, and something to do with Apex, NC! BTW, nice images from the garden RR. I am impressed that you have met so many of us from here the Diner! And the same goes for us too, Monique and I are looking forward to seeing you again soon!

Jim - Congratulations on becoming a granddad! Trains and grandpas go hand in hand.

Jeff - Looks like the camera shutter bug is working nicely!

Garry, Jeff, and Philip - I prefer Crystal Hot Sauce on my Red Beans and Rice... Oh, and BBQ sounds good to me, I like all kinds of smoked and BBQ meat. Dry or wet BBQ, it's all good!

Dick - Thanks for the weather station link, checking it out soon. Did you buy any of the goat cheese from the farm? We made a great spinach and goat cheese pizza this weekend.

Scott - Thanks for the NS update, oh, I see the stock just went up another point! So don't fret over the processing for the new job, it took me a month to get a job once because of stuff like that.

JP - Looks like you got your hands full there! Have you made her dinner yet? The ladies are impressed when you can cook them a fine meal!

Fergie - Thoughts and prayers for your dad, and hope his health improves soon.

Good afternoon everyone,  a nice 68F and low humidity here, but the muggy weather is due back here by Friday.

FERGIE: Our thoughts and prayers are for your dad and your family, I sure wish he had more time with you and the layout, he liked that very much.

ED: It looks like DEAN is taking direct aim at your Orange Grove!!!!Shock [:O] The rains could be your worst problem with mudslides. You are about 50 miles from the coast aren't you?

RYAN: I hope you find something that fits your need at Davis Instruments, they have a nice line, their service techs are real helpful, and their equipment is well made, mine has withstood some horrendous winter weather.

MIKE: What, no Catfish ?????  Did you guys go to fish or shoot the bull???? Hey, you had fun and that's what it is all about.

JEFF: You are having a great time with the new camera, are you trying to outdo Mike with his Pulitzer prize photos of trains?

***Sign - Ditto [#ditto] from me!

***Jeffrey, nice Veterans Memorial. Will have a Civil War Memorial on my layout either in a small town square or park, as requested by my wife who is into that part history. Already have the little statue for it. In the photo below your Vet. Memorial, who's the hot young chick in the green shirt and blue pants? (sure hope that's a woman!?!) Seeing your photos is filling my head with ideas for scenes to create on the future layout, beyond the few required ones I already have planned.

Ran some old (N) models this morning to get a "train fix". Have become increasingly more aware of the difference in detailing between new and vintage stuff. Some of the old locos run (IMHO) as well as new ones, like Hudsons, Mallets and such, but now they look virtually barren of details to my eyes. As for diesels, I kinda like the "noise" of vintage ones, as opposed to the sillent runners, as they just sound more like they are hard at work. Just some thoughts to share.

"0%" chance of rain here today. Well is holding up, but it can't support our farm indefinitely. We're very concerned about this drought. Off to water horses now...and test the well yet again.

Many people had no idea how intricately detailed my last layout was before I tore it down. Much of what you're seeing in my photos are the parts I'm incorporating into my current layout. I was bashed one time by a person who said I take too long to build a layout. He built his, start to finish, in less than a year. It had a lot of track, structures and vehicles, but it had almost no detailed scenes and figures were few and far between. I let him know in no uncertain terms that his idea of a finished layout was my idea of a layout that needs extensive work. I detailed one scene on his layout and it suddenly occured to him that the rest of the layout now looked to be very dead and uninteresting. that was four years ago. He's still working on that layout and still has not gotten it to a point that I would consider as finished. I've been working on my current layout for a couple of years now and I expect to be working on it for several more years. You've seen my derelict steamer scene and how it's detailed. That's a small amount of detail compared to what I've put into other scenes in the past.

Afternoon, I'll have the blue plate special and ice tea, Zoe.

Another hot humid day with a few showers round. Mother said it was nice here Sat, high in the 70's, guess we brought the heat back with us. Now to see if I can catch up some.

FERGIE, we're keeping your dad in our thoughts, also you and the family. It's all in Gods hands now.

JERRY, glad Sally's closer and doing ok. We're thinking of you guys too.

RYAN, good to hear double duty isn't permanent. Glad ya liked the old bridge, there's several more round here, I plan getting this fall

DUKE,, great garden pics, that's a big garden, thanks

TIPTON BILL,,sounds like here shortly you'll be leaving one adventure and beginning a new one with your retirement. I hope you n yours enjoy it muchly

JIM CG,,,, congrads on the grandkid news, a round of Simalc baby formula for every one.

JEFF, some good layout pics there.

ROB,, sounds like the a nice size layout in your future. I go along with everything DICK said on the plumbing. It's well worth the little extra cost now, than later.

SCOTT,,, I'm sure you'll do just fine  working on the railroad, and you'll be starting afore ya know it

JP,, good to hear from you again and hope everything works out with your lady friend.

DICK,, there was a lot of bull shot, I tore up one reel and a pole [I took three] but I did catch some blue gill [keepers] and some gare, [to small] out of the river, and even hooked 6 trout [didn't land the first one though] out of one stream we were fishing, but no catfish. The river there isn't deep enough for cats [darn it]. It's almost impossible to fish the river during the day, because of all the canoes and rafters coming through, so we trout fish most the day, then fish the river later. I've got a few pics from there to post also. We did bring trout back, just not me.

Here's few pics from my trip to MO.. Ya gotta go by the Arch to get there from here.

I thought these two pics go together

This is a collapsible tank on the west side off of 44. the more it contains the taller it is.

Stilll got some train pics to post laters, but best get round still got a bunch to get done. Hope ya'll has a gooden n stay cool

Good evening, very cloudy here now, and quite chilly, there are even FROST warnings for northern VT, NH, and ME, and Boston could break the record for LOW temp tonight, 52F, this is August 20th ???????

ED: DEAN is taking a direct aim at the Orange Grove after it crosses over the Yucatan !!!! Shock [:O]  The ocean water temp is warm all the way down 1600 feet, so this storm will stay strong and regain Cat 4 after crossing the Peninsula, Are you guys going to be Ok where you are? Any danger of mudslides or flooding streams near you ?

DUKE: We now have a picture of J.R., it is good to have a mental picture of what the guys as gals look like as we post, I picture each person in my mind as I write. That is a real nice Garden layout, it is amassing how well they hold up in outside weather.

JEFF: You have been taking so many pictures with your new camera, Zoe asked if anyone brought you meals to your trailer. Your detail work is an inspiration to rest of us Jeff!

Good evening..

Long day here. We were late to Nashville to pick up my Mom at airport. Reason for delay was Shelley's sister near here. (Shelley has so many sisters I need a score card to keep up with them.)  The sister near here was not well so we took her to doc. Doc sent her to hospital. She's in intensive care with unexplained large blood clot in lungs. Looks like my Mom's visit here will be disrupted a bit.

Bye

Good Morning All,

Just running through as I got back yesterday and we test at Lime Rock today or at least supposed to as it looks like rain on and off all day.

As he reported, the team got to meet Duke last Saturday - we all had a good time and hopefully Duke, you kept ahead of the rain on the ride home. Good fun and Duke is an interesting character. You get the idea that most of the people in the diner are nice and so far (also met Trolley Rob before) the impression is correct (except maybe for the grouchy bearded guy from Danbury).

Fergie - our prayers for you and your dad. We've been going through the same sort of thing with my MIL for a while now and I know it lays heavy on your heart.

Need to grab my cup of coffee and skedaddle - I'll try to catch up later.  CUL, J.R.
