Morning all!
Well, tropical depression Erin hit yesterday. It gave us a historic day. Thats the most rain we've ever had in a single day.....and it's still raining. But thats OK, it's been so hot here lately that the ground needs a good soaking.
Stopped by Anderson yard yesterday. Got some good pics. One thing caught my eye though. I've been by there many times, but I never noticed this.....don't know why. Yeah, you'd think after all these years they'd have painted this: http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j319/pcarrell/Prototype%20Train%20Photos/8-20-074.jpg
Gerry, Fergie, all of those in need....prayers for all of you!
Well, I'm off!
Later!
Here's the specs on the little camera I'm using. Hard to believe it takes such great pics.

Good Morning, Zoe - cup of TH and one of Bill T.'s chocolate 'long-john' donuts, please. Thanks, Dick!
Got some rain last night as Erin's remains worked its way north (but mostly a ways to the west of us, along the Missouri-Kansas area). The rain'll be good for the gardens around here.
Last night's MRR club meeting was mostly spent getting started lining up the layout sections with each other. We got about 3 sections joined & fastened. When we got there, we discovered that a couple of the members had been by earlier in the day and hung the cabinets in one corner, set up the fridge (and stocked it with sodas and water), and even put up some storage shelves we had moved, plus put up the first aid kit - so I guess we're officially moved in! Then we discovered that we'd have to move some of the sections away to connect some sections and the divider wall, before we could connect the other side's sections. We stopped and had a meeting, talked about possibilities for the new section(s) that we'll be adding (which could affect what goes on the existing sections - we will be changing the terrain in one and an engine facility in another). We're going to temporarily move some boards and stuff out into the adjacent area to make room to move other stuff around. Fairly productive evening, overall.
Garry, will have your and Fergie's family in my .
I need to get going for now. Everyone take care of yourselves and loved ones, and keep the prayers going - a lot of us are needing them lately.
Blessings, comfort and healing,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Good morning, it feels like a September day here today, only 60F. I see that Jeff has picked up the tab today, thank God, Jim had so much to eat yesterday that my CC caught fire in the reader according to Cloe.
JEFF: It is hard to believe that little camera took those shots...for $10 how could you go wrong.
Today I need to bring my new glasses back to Lenscrafters, my wife thought that I would look better with those doggone new smaller glasses. Well, they made me dizzy and nauseated. I am used to larger lenses, and these new tiny ones allow me to see out the bottom so much that when I look down things are out of focus, hence the dizzyness. Back to the original frames for me.

After some photography work this morning it's time to chow down on something.
I'll have the grilled salmon.
Here's some of what I've been up to today.
Afternoon all -
About to head out to work and thought I'd stop by for a quick coffee.
Gerry, Fergie - My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families during these difficult times. Remember we are herre for you both if you need us.
Thanks to all for the well wishes w/ the new g/f. She even gets excited when she sees a train go by if we are out going someplace. She's deffinately a keeper!
Well, time to go!
Take care,
JP

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
in a UP mug, please and thank you!
***Inch, just a few questions regarding your photos: How did you get that expanding tank to work? What material did you build the Arch out of? And are you going to weather the Budweiser truck? (they do almost look like models to me)
***JP, have you bought her a special gift (model train) yet? She sounds more and more like a keeper all the time.
***TIFN, you just verified what I suspected about those smaller glasses. Good luck with the replacement frames.
***Jeffrey, that AC4400(?) is one on my wish list of locos to aquired. Not everyone agrees, but I think they are very cool looking beasts.

Hey, hey, hey, Dick - a hot fudge sundae, two coffees and a donut? I don't think so - better check the real chowhounds here for how your CC caught fire... (the ones eating all the pies, maybe...)
Afternoon all
Not much to say today and JR it sprinkled very lightly on the way home and the rain didn't start until about 9 that night.

Ok,time for more garden stuff
That's about it
Best to all on sick call and those recovering

Windham (NEWS CENTER)-- Train Service Between Fryeburg And Portland?Web Editor: susan kimball, reporter Created: 8/21/2007 3:13:44 PM Updated: 8/21/2007 3:54:21 PM
Some say its time to revive the old Mountain Division Rail Line that runs from Portland to Fryeburg, passing through towns like Windham, Westbrook, Baldwin and Hiram.
State Senator Bill Diamond (D-Windham) sponsored a bill that will fund a feasibility study for the proposal. That study will begin this month. Diamond says the main objective for the rail line would be to carry freight but that passengers--including commuters--would also be part of the picture. He says the feasibility study will help determine how many businesses and people would actual use the train and how much work needs to be done to upgrade the tracks. The study is expected to be completed by December. The last passenger train made its run on the Mountain Division Railroad in 1956. Back in 1915, the train made the fifty mile trip from Portland to Freyburg nine times a day.
As this being on my home turf, I hope train service is reastored, so that our Massachuttes friend and take the train from Boston to Portland, then to Fryburge. For the Fryburge Fair.
(Maine Railroad fans, admirers, and Fanatic(s) = me. are excited)
***Duke, do you ever have squirrels, rabbits, cats, or other critters visiting those structures or harrassing the wee little folks? Where does that gondola climb to?
Fergie,
Sorry to hear about your father. Let me add my most sincere condolences to those already expressed by others here in the Coffee Shop.
Ed
Rob Remember, this is not my layout but a friend of Ray's and I would suppose that he does have squirrels and others to contend with but I think the little folk are not a problem. I think I have a pic of where the gondola goes to, but if not,it's just up the hill.
I HAS A BIG BOY!!!
Or enough money for one, actually. Yesterday, two birthday cards came in, containing $80 total. I now have $368.76, almost a $100 more than needed.
On the other side, tommorow is my birthday. One wonders what will come.
Another STRONGplease, and any train mug will be fine.
***Hoople, CONGRATS on the "soon to arrive" BIG BOY. And if you ever start feeling guilty about having too much $$$ or not knowing what to spend it on, feel free to pass on the extra my way and I'll be happy to help you out.
Moved some extra desk type furniture into our master bedroom and at the suggestion from the wife, put some trains out on top. She commented on how many trains I had and I couldn't help buy think "Is she kidding or does she not realize what fills those boxes in the corner of my studio?" Me thinks it's best to keep my mouth shut on this one.
Little accomplished today, or so it seems. Might work late again, but sooooo tired. (mmmm...Good Coffee)
Evening Gang: Not much MRRing today as usual. I've got to make a concerted effort to get to the basement or to work on the 7.5. Mary Ann's wash/pump house is coming along great. the wiring is complete and the insulation is in. We went in and picked up the stuff to spray on the ceiling and got some paint chips for her to fuss over. I'll be glade when it's over so that I can stop feeling guilty for not doing it myself. Of course this way it's actually getting done.
This Friday is a work day over at the 7.5 track at my friends, Saturday we'll do some running. I guess that I'll be the sole representative for the live steam group at the show at Clark Gardens on the 8,9 of September. Everyone else is tied up. I may be able to get John and Michael to help out. I'll take my steamer and a gondola, side dump car and track. I'll be able to run on compressed air.
Dick the old expression "If it an't broke don't fix it" comes to mind.
Hoople: I see the waiting has payed off. Enjoy.
Well I guess I'll head out.
Rob: Shhhhhhhhh. If she doesn't know don't say anything. Ignorance is bliss for you.
Good Night All
Evening, Chloe - I'll go light on Jeff's wallet tonight; just a coffee, please. I'll save my appetite for when Dick hits TOTP again. (tee hee...)
Mark, congrats on your pending Big Boy in the roundhouse. Unless it's two after all your other birthday cards arrive tomorrow, of course...

Sounds like a good idea to me, too, Rob! As Paul said, the less said, the better for you.
Duke, another nice set of pics of your friend's garden RR.
I hope Ed lays low until Dean is long past his area - if you're reading, pay attention, Ed (but you don't need to take the time to post, with Dean knocking on your door).
Blessings and prayers (and everyone in Texas or SOTB stay safe!),
Evening, I'll have some ice tea Cleo
Had a hot humid day and another is forecast for tomorrow. One weather guesser said this morning we had 68% humidity, dew point of 74 and an air temp of 75, with a heat index of 80, that was at 5:30 am.
JEFF,, your gonna wear that camera out, you keep going.
DUKE,, that is some garden layout that guys has there. I've enjoyed all the pics.
ROB,,,,thats all real. My modeling skills are not anywhere near that good. The collapsible tank works bout the same as those collapsible drinking cups you use to see around.
These two pics were shot from the truck. I seen this one on the east side of the river, the one still BN green
These UP's were headed east for the river bridge
These next two are from the lookout on a hilltop in Maramec Springs Park, where we were fishing.
Bout it for now, need a shower, got Leroy n KC at 5 in the morning. Tomorrows Leroy's first full day of kindergarten and he's riding the bus from here. Hope ya'll has a gooden.

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,
While I've communicated with a few of you by email regarding us and Hurricane Dean, I suppose I ought to issue a general post so you have some idea how the Orange Grove will fare.
While the hurricane is forecast to come through here tomorrow, we're staying. It lost a lot of strength passing over the Yucatan Peninsula (as it was bound to do) and is down to a Cat 1. It's time over the Gulf will be so short that it's unlikely to build up past a Cat 2 or 3, if that. We're about 9 miles inland from the coast (the city itself is 6 miles up the river from the Gulf), and slightly higher, so no danger from tides, waves or storm surge. Our house is solid masonry, concrete frame and roof, solid brick walls (not brick veneer). We have gas for cooking (stationary tank), utility water (large tank on roof), plenty of potable water, food, etc. About our only concern would be the possible loss of power, but at Cat 1-3 even that shouldn't be serious or prolonged, if it happens at all. Oh, yeah, and I could lose the phone line and my internet connection. That would be serious. No rain or wind yet (we spent some time securing loose items), but we expect to see rain start sometime tonight, and wind tomorrow morning. This latest track from the National Hurricane Center has the storm crossing the coast almost exactly where we are. (Just in case you wondered where I live.)http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at4+shtml/203033.shtml?5day#contentsI'll let you know how things go.Best regards
Good evening, getting ready for the installation of a Jotul wood stove tomorrow to replace the Pellet stove which is now over at son #2's house. With the cost of Pellets rising too much each year, and I have a multi year supply of wood with hardwood forest in the back, this was a no brainer for someone on fixed income. The guys will be here at 8 and this install will require a hole in the roof to run the pipe straight up.
HOOPLE: Congrats on reaching your goal, now it is decision time, which manufacturer for your big boy, I am betting it will be P2K. PC is celebrating your good fortune with a strawberry cream pie and also Cape Jim.
COLBY: If you massacre the spelling of my home state one more time, I will cut off your desert credit in the Diner.......MASS A CHU SETTS!!!! Algonquin Native American for name meaning "Land of many hills". And, back in earlier days, Maine was all part of Massachusetts, bet you didn't know that. I also hear that the Narrow Gauge is going to lose their home for the Museum, as the owner wants $65,000 a year rent, it was rent free for quite a while.
PAUL: Yes, that old saying is correct, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
ED: Batten down the hatches son!!!!
Later,
I took some pics today and I especially like this one.
Hello everyone......
Another very long day. Shelley's sister still in ICU and now is on ventalator. As i mentioned my 88 year old mom is in from out of town. Not good timing for such a visit, but it's remarkable how she keeps up with us with all this stuff going on. Thanks for the thoughts everyone.
I enjoyed seeing all your pictures here. Good about the big boy funding, hoople. Ed, hoping you're get thru the storm okay.

High today in the 90's, heat index 100-105, just another AC day.
GARRY, hope your SIL improves soon. We'll keep ya'll in our thoughts.
HOOPLE,, happy burthen day to ya and congrads on the big boy
ED,, we'll be keeping you folks to in our thoughts, hope you weather the storm ok.
DICK, I called our pellet supplier the other day and so far the price hasn't gone up here yet. I still don't have the stove ready yet or enough pellets for the winter,, guess I need to get my backside in a higher gear.
Here are some pics of the trout stream.
This is one of the big trout there. It's hard to tell but this is bout 24" long.
Mornin All!
May i get some coffee too? Thanks!I swear i think my Waitress on my forum buggered off somewhere.
Good Morning All,
Just a regular to go please. Off to Boston this morning to check out and hopefully pick up a car for one of our drivers. No Dick, no side trip to Tuckers is in the works - sorry, you'll just have to accept those third quarter losses.
worked at the museum again last night, fixed a couple of gauge problems with the Invisible display and seem to have cured some of the problems. At least it all ran for the time we were there. Lots to do and gotta run. CUL, J.R.
Good Morning, Zoe, a cup of coffee to go, please. Oh yeah, and I brought something for Mark's today:
Yes, Mark, it is too many candles - but we needed three tiers on that cake to have enough for everyone. Half the cake is yellow cake, and half is devil's food cake, so everyone should be able to get what they like. Make a wish and blow out the candles, birthday fella!

Dick, Dick, you keep confusing me with PC (the Pie-Consumer); besides, I don't like strawberry cream pie (or cherry, or...). (Maybe the old stove had a leak and the CO confused your mind?)
Well, I'd better go for now. Good to hear that Ed's got everything nailed down at his place and can ride that blowhard Dean out.
Blessings and prayers (and birthday wishes),
