Howdy everyone.
Dick is safety officer AND ALSO ..... entertainment officer! So, DIck, women use pliars for just exactly what?
Fergie's busy now with 0-6-0T's . Tanks, Fergie Tanks. (so to speak). Actually I have one of those mantua 0-6-0T's. Of course we'd be interested in how the steam shovelk turned out.
Best wishes to Zeke, and I must say I'm not one bit fond of hospital stays myself.
Bye.......

Dick,
That, my friend, was a thing of beauty!
Hi Gang: Would you believe that it's raining? We're just sitting in the bedroom watching videos. I'm sure that there are things that I should be doing but I just can't get up the motivation. I think that I'll take a little nap.
See you all later.
I guess that I'm buying. Maybe I should head for the not so LHS and grab a couple of 0-6-0Ts before Fergie gets them all.
Good evening gents.....very heavy clouds here, and very humid. Severe storms have moved north of us and south, so far we have avoided the worst, 0.67" of rain the last 24 hours, NOTHING compared to our good neighbors in the South and Midwest.
GARRY: Pliers used by women for???????? I'm not going there Garry, Sue may be in the Diner and she may throw a dammmmmittttttt tool at me.
FERGIE: I see from the satellite over NS that there is a convoy of MRR's headed to your LHS's to raid all the 0-6-0T's.
PAUL: A local boat builder here has started to build ARKS, are you interested in one yet? I can have it shipped via Fergie's carrier RR line flat car to TX.
DAVE: I don't have 1/4 of those tools either, but I sure do have the "dammitttttt tools. And I have many missing ones also after raising 4 children, all teenagers at one time, 13 to 19...talk about missing tools. I have found missing tools, all rusted, have buried up back in the yard when tilling the garden, or cutting grass, etc.
Ohh oh, the radar just went off, we have a TS bearing down on us, so we will signoff for a while.
Good Evening Coffee Clubbers
Reporting in from Little Catalina, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland. Great weather up here, high of about 20ºC today, and sunny. Supposed to start raining and turn cold tomorrow.
We've seen a bunch of icebergs, so Fran is happy. And it looks like we'll have more for a while yet. Also saw one moose and a small colony of puffins. Not much to photo here railroad-wise. I did get a couple of shots of old abandined right-of-way. And I found a couple of books in the local library on the old Newfoundland Railway, so if nothing else I can read about it.
We've also been doing some fishing. At least wetting our hooks, if nothing else. No trout to show for our efforts yet.
Zeke - good to hear that you're up to posting again. Hopefully the change of electronics will help out.
Talk about high gas prices, it's now $1.20 (CDN) per liter up here. That's over $4 (US) a gallon. Ouch. And we figure to burn up quite a bit touring around the place.
Anyways, that's about it for this evening. Have to watch the Boston Red Sox on the computer.
Later
Ed
Evening Gang: We just got back fro supper at a new Tex-Mex resturant. It was prtty good.
Not much since this afternoon. I didn't get to take the nap. I went out to put up the case of oil that I got for the tractors. 12 quarts cost me $45. Ouch. I guess I'll save the quart bottles for when I am goin to add some. I'll get a couple of jugs of oil for oil changes. It's around $20 a 2 gal jug that way. The bad thing about bulk is having to have something to mesure with and then keeping it around and clean.
As I was re-arranging the shelves for the oil I got stung by a wasp. Since I'm allergic I went in and took 2 benedril and had Mary Ann drive me to the ER. I didn't have a real bad reaction but I figured better safe.
Right now I'm tired and will head for bed. I'm doing that alot lately and not feeling guilty.
Good Night All
Evening, Chloe - I'll have a hot fudge brownie sundae, please.
Thanks, Paul!

Okay, Garry - so how do you know what Fergie's going to buy next? Uncanny sense of timing there, fella... Fergie, leave one of those saddle tanker 0-6-0T's for me, if you would. I have an older (MDC?) version of that one, which isn't running and I need to replace it with the Spectrum version, I think. They're cute little things!

(I was going to post something for Paul, but I figure it's past his bedtime.)
Called our LHS/MRR club member today to see if he had some of the metal coupler pocket covers that Athearn uses. I discovered when I was putting KD's on some boxcars over the Fourth, that one of the coupler pockets didn't have the cover (and I didn't really want to re-fit/drill out the pocket to fit a screw like the Accurail kits use). He has some, so I'll pick some up on Saturday.
On the financial front, we got our paystubs in our mail slots today at work (tomorrow is the actual date the money will show up in our banks), and I am amazed. I had figured on having to beg mercy from my attorney because I didn't see having enough for his 50 percent deposit plus the filing fee for the bankruptcy. But, I turned the matter over to the Big Boss , and guess what happened? My on-call (second) check (besides the usual bimonthly check) was way bigger than it is most months, and I think there's enough for the attorney's half, the filing fee, plus an offering out of the on-call check. (Coincidence? I don't think so!) God is amazing indeed (Really, though - why should I be amazed? But He blows me away at times).
I'll be at the corner booth, working on my hot fudge/brownie sundae if anyone needs me, Chloe.
Blessings and thanksgivings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Evening all, I'll have what Jim's having...
Gee, I haven't been here in a while.
Zeke: I'm glad to hear that you're doing better. I know how those long hospital visits feel, and I'm sure you're not having alot of fun right now... Hospitals never feel like home, no matter how much they try to make them. Hey, at least you have good lookin' nurses and a loving girlfriend! The best of wishes to you.
Garry: Bet that trip to the KRM was fun for the whole family, huh? Although I've never been a really big fan of the 1:1 scale Thomas, (although I loved the TV show growing up) seeing him in that picture on real rails brought back happy childhood memories. The CF7 really had to work that day. I hope Tish didn't have to work very hard, though! (She's the only female engineer there, and she's usually operating the CF7.) By the way, did you see the L&N E6A #770? I heard from Jim Finley (one of the engineers there) that they were sending it up to Evansville or somewhere for cosmetic refurbishing. Hopefully, they can raise the money while it's up there so it can be restored to running sondition!
P.S. You're pic of the L&N 152 is outstanding! really shows the beauty of that locomotive.
Everyone: I have learned a lesson on the 4th of July that I won't soon forget. Bottle rockets hurt! Especially if it was your girlfriend's overpretective cousin who shot you!
Ya'll have a good one.

Good Morning All,
Rains stopped, suns out, how much better than that does it get? Thanks Luc and Bill - I'll have a regular and a glazed donut please. Still struggling with the job load here but slowly making progress.
Found a bunch of DPM buildings for the front of the layout that will fit nicely between the track and the elevated section. A little bashing here and there and it should look good. Next step is to cut out the footprints and do some arranging.
good to hear from Ed and James again - a Falcon is way better than a Holden (they couldn't even get rid of the new GTO's they made out of Holdens here).
Time to pick up tools, CUL, J.R.
Mornin' all!
We are getting off to a fantastic start on this Friday morning with mostly clear skies and temperatures in the 60s. We do have some patchy dense fog near Terre Haute and Shelbyville with visibilities down to a 1/4 mile in those two cities. Once the patchy fog burns off, we can expect plenty of sunshine and highs in the middle 80s. The humidity should be quite a bit lower too!
As we head into the weekend, hot and more humid air will return. Even though temperatures will approach 90 degrees on Saturday, the humidity will still be in the moderate range. However, big time heat and humidity will push back into the region on Sunday and Monday. It should be dry again for your weekend.
A cold front will be approaching the area next week. This front should bring an increasing threat for showers and thunderstorms by late Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Cooler air will return for the last half of next week.
Right now it's just beautiful out there!
And speaking of beautiful......Today is my anniversary to my beautiful bride of 18 years! I just can't begin to express how greatful I am that God brought her into my life! God is indeed good!
Good morning everyone, another 0.26" of rain overnight in a TS that gave us a "glancing" blow. Just enough rain to keep the gardens happy.
It is hot and humid here, 64F dew point and 77% RH. Not as bad as southern states get much more often, but very uncomfortable for northerners. Sort of like 30F for southerners in Winter which is comfortable for northerners.
FRIDAY is here for all the w***king members of the Diner, or should I say, those who are getting a "salary" for their w**k as opposed to us retired people who work without a salary. LOL So what is planned for the weekend ???
SUE: I was just reading in the paper this morning that an 8 year old boy was killed ina town just 8 miles south of Olympia, WA by a cannon that exploded and sent pieces of metal flying over 230 feet. The little boy was 100 feet away when he was hit. Investgators are trying to determine who made the cannon, and how it happened at the grandparents house. The cannon had a 3" diameter barrel. This is yet another 4th of July home display gone terribly bad.
GARRY: I just heard that Fergie is now secretly looking into buying 2-10-4's. He doesn't want the LHS's to jump their prices up, so he keeping this VERY quiet. I have sources that are keeping us informed.
JEFF: Did you get flooded out yesterday? The weather channel map at noontime looked awful for your area....lots of red and dark green.
ED: The Red Sox beat up the Devil Rays pretty bad last night, 15-4, 21 hits !!!!

Morning folks!
Ben wanted a telescope for his birthday so last weekend we got him a new Meade ETX-80. He was excited when he found out that the full moon was on his birthday on the 30th. So far we have viewed Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, and the moon. Only problem with this is now I am getting the bug to start up a new hobby too.... oh boy! You would be amazed at the amount of accessories you can add with the telescope.
Great fun, but you have to stay up late.
I have not found a way yet to look at the stars and planets during the day light hours.
Glad to see some of you are getting rain! We are in need of some real rain soon.
Now I do have plans to work in the train room next week, I am taking off work on Monday and Tuesday and have been given the green light from the CFO and the executive branch.
Thoughts and prayers to all in need, recovery, and health!
Cheers,
Ryan

Thanks for the support, Jim, I have not been in the diner for a few days.
My most often used tool would be the measuring tape. We have one in every room of the house, every car, on the tractor, and in the barn. I even have a 300 ft tape. That is a lot of measuring tapes.
Dick, The safety issue would be not to pinch your finger or put your eye out. I seldom use pliers, Garry.
On a different note, on our trip to Larry's sister place in eastern WA, we took a side trip to the Northern Pacific Railway Museum in Toppenish. Larry took some photos with his phone that I will download later. Since we were on the motorcycle, we didn't have room for the camera. We will see how the phone pictures turn out.
I guess it is late enough to start the pressure washer without waking the neighborhood.
Sue

Cox 47 wrote:They don't make a Falcon here anymore do they?
Nope, we haven't for many years, but the Falcon they have down under is a different beast from the one we had here in the states anyways. Both great cars though.
I'll have the steak and fish, please.
Like I said last night, i'd post a picture of my new car A 2000 Ford Falcon 'classic' it cost me $7,800...
All the storms missed us again today, this time Cape Cod is getting whacked by a huge TS with massive Cloud to Ground lightening coming in on Cape Cod Bay. It has really coole doff nice here, 64F, DP of 58F....AC is now OFF and all windows are at max open.
My LHS just called, he has two locos that I am interested in, A Stewart A-B-A unit for $50, and a NYC F unit, so I will head up there Tuesday.
JEFF: I see what you mean by surrounded by water, but you are 30 feet above it. I tapped into the satellite as it crossed over the southern states today, I think I see you in the back yard.

RYAN: I know what you mean with additional hobbies. I have my fingers into several areas, which makes it hard to dedicate the time I would like for each. I have trying to do some family tree research, and getting it all onto a computer and DVD with photos of family members. Then there is the family veggie garden and the wife's landscaping of the yard, railfanning with photo shoots...better stop here.
HOOPLE: Sounds like a real nice BD gift, very thoughtful of mom.
OZ JIM: That is one nice restored car, watch out in parking lots, you know what happened to Scott.
GARRY: We just picked our first gallon of blueberries, so French blueberry pie is being served right now!!
SUE: I knew that you wouldn't throw the pliers, you don't seem like the type to me. I think Garry is trying to start something, and Jim is egging him ON.
Ohh OH here comes FERGIE, quick........hide the pies.
