PC, on the 'boats I have known' thread, my first boat was - let's see, probably was about a 1960-something Chevy Brookwood wagon that my folks had - and I got to drive to junior college for a while. It was one of those early metallic blue colors (not the shinier colors like candy apple red that they had a few years later). Sort of a light (dull) metallic blue.

That's definately a boat!

Sounds like your CHP Interceptor-powered car really drank the gas down.Shock [:O] Had lower mileage than a lot of SUV's get today...

It'd pass anything but a gas station!

Good morning everyone, just waiting for the wife to get back with the car so that I can deliver the rototiller shaft to the repair shop.  Ohh OH, May 1st, RE taxes are due, so that means a stop at the Town Hall too.

DER JOHN: I was watching a BBC contradictory to Al Gore's book and movie on Global Warming, and that is where I received the info on the oceans giving off tons of CO2 when the waters warm too much. I have the website address if you want to see this BBC presentation, but it is 1 hour of viewing on your PC, so you would need to go to a location in NS that has hispeed internet capability.  BTW, looking at the satellite data, it is 60F (15C) at Hudson Bay, you should be seeing some of this warmth by Sunday or Monday.

JEFF: What's on tap for today's projects?

MIKE: There is no way that I can take that race off without causing damage to the interior of the drive shaft housing, as I don't have the tools to do it, and the owners manual doesn't cover changing out that bearing..RATS !!!!! The sage goes on. Hopefully he can pull it and replace it while I wait, but from the amount of equipment that he had waiting OUTSIDE his shop, never mind INSIDE, I'm not going to hold my breath.

PC: !!!!!! You ate Colby's pie that Cloe made special for him !!! LOL...... OUT TO THE WOODSHED WITH YOU !!!

OZ JIM: It's about time you showed up in the Diner, rumor has it you were trying out for the part of Crocodile Dundee.

Well here goes a second attempt at writing this!!!

Sea-mail tends to be a bit contrary at times especially when we can't get the cable to run freely off the drum. Some cable had to be respliced this morning as it got snagged on a passing Iceberg. Captain was none to happy with that as he missed the morning news. I may even loose you towards the end of the trip as we might run short by 50 miles or so (Sometimes depending on current, temps and sea swell we can make the wire streth a few extra miles.

Ah yes the pink loco thingy... Well John and Paukl I don't really get all cranked too much over it as it still brings a smile to us when we need it but... We are getting needy for something new and improved! Yes we should start thinking of new pranks. Mmmmmm. I'll have to sleep on this one. BTW nice pics John.

Dick and John: I'll ask somemore questions for you but I will tell you this they seem to be very interested in CO2 levels in the air and water column as we have a CO2 monitor mounted above the bridge.

Well I thought hard on the colour issue last night and sorry to say the yellow running boards are out as masking is too problematic. Besides These engines are work horses not entrants in a Beauty Queen contest! So it's my favourite colour again. Black with red trim, hubba hubba get use to it!

Anyway that's my speel for this a.m. and yes we did see Icebergs on the radar at just above 43N

Later All

They're being painted for the MKT and haven't been detail painted and lettered yet.

As of today I have 42. Four are steamers (2 USRA 0-6-0's, a 4-6-0 Hall type and a USRA 4-6-2 Light Pacific that's been nothing but a PITA since I got it. My oldest one (the one that's been in my possesion longest) is a Bachmann GP40P-2 that I bought in Germany back in 1977. I've never had any real problems with it. Recently I changed out the old open frame motor with a PPW can motor and converted it to DCC.

I went to the LHS today and picked up a Kato ALCO RSC-2, an Athearn PB-2, a Santa Fe Canadian grain hopper, a 3-quart bag of dark green lichen, 4 bags of fine gray talus and 2 bags of WS fine turf (1 weeds and 1 burnt grass). Total cost $186.14

I got the two locos 30% off! How's that for some dealing.

Hi Gang: Just a short note here. I had planned on getting my dues paid to several organizations that I belong to and maybe cleaning some guns. We were getting some rain all morning and I figured it would last through the afternoon. Well it stopped raining and the sun is out so I'll quick do a letter and enclose a check to the club in England and head out.

Oz: Good to hear from you.

I'll be back in tonight so you all take care.

It was a nice day for railfanning after work today.  I planted three trees to make the wife happy, then grabbed my camera and headed out.  The pics aren't the greatest, but here's just a couple.

Evening Gang: Not much going on since earlyer. mary Ann and I went down to get the cattle out of the pasture. When we got to the gate we found that the meter reader had locked his lock so ours was just hanging there. We were locked out of our own land, again!!!!. I called the electric co rep but of course she had gone home, it was about 6:30pm. I left a voice mail and we used the gate by the road to get in. Anyway tomorrow I'll have to get in touch with her and get her to bring out a key for us like she said she would. I guess a high IQ isn't one of the necessary qualifications for a meter reader here.

So what's going on with everyone else? Only RT and PC have been in since I posted this afternoon. I guess that everyone has been out doing honey do's.

There are rain storms in the area that may bring us some more of the wet stuff. If we get any more it will be run off. Our pond can take about another 12 inches but some folks may have some flooding. We're on the top of a hill so well out of the flood plain. It's hard to say that I'd like it to stop raining since we've been in a drought situation for the last 3 years.

AH, Jeff. I think that PC set you up for TOTP.

Well it's time for bed so I'll say Good Night All

Evening, Chloe, just a hot fudge sundae and a cup of decaf - too close to bedtime for me. Thanks, Jeff!

Busy day - didn't get any lunch and was there until 5 p.m.Shock [:O], so I was ready to leave when I did get to go home.Disapprove [V] Kind of worn out tonight. Did get to meet up with some friends and have dinner some and visit a bit.

I've been working (again) tonight on backing up the files I started on over the weekend (but didn't get finished before bedtime). I'm getting aggravated with either the backup software (it's telling me - about every second or third DVD-R that I stick in - that the drive is malfunctioning or that the heads are dirty), or be mad at the drive (if the heads on the DVD burner drive is off). Or else, I bought a bad batch of DVD-R's at Staples... Not happy about it, any way you look at it. So far, I have two DVD's burned (data backup), maybe one DVD from Sunday night that might be good, and three that the backup program gave me the error message on. Banged Head [banghead]Thumbs Down [tdn]

42? Jeff, that's a lot of locos - I can see why you're busy a lot with painting and upgrading them.

Paul, hope your meter reader can remember to bring you a copy of her key (or else, you could bill the utility company for any losses caused by your having to take the long way around and the cattle lose weight...)

Fergie, I think the red and black would go well with your RR's logo colours. As you say, it's not a show engine.Smile [:)]

'bout time for me to head for bed. Hope everyone has a good night's rest. Sorry if I missed very many people. Tired and ready for Zzz [zzz]Zzz [zzz]....

Blessings,

I haven't had much time lately for forums, i've been busy building my MRR and loco's and rollingstock Smile [:)] Work has been flat out too, 6.30-5.30 with barely a break through the day!!

JimRCGMO: Yes last wednesday I had a day off, and went for a railfan trip out west, to photograph some coal trains etc. you can find some pics @ photobucket.com/ozjim This weekend There is a model train show, so there will also be pics of the layouts and goodies i get there. By the way, you will also see a photo or two of my first Coal wagon i've completed on my photobucket site.

I'm now a delivery driver at work, which is good fun! i'm learning the streets of Brisbane very, very quickly!! There is also plenty of deliveries to The Gold and Sunshine Coasts, and out to Toowoomba as well. Have a look on a map Of S.E QLD for an idea Wink [;)]

Good Morning All,

Rainy and 48F this morning. Still scrambling so I'll only have a regular to go please. With luck I'll go to Morristown tomorrow to get parts for the museum RS-11 (DL-701 for you NH fans). Spent last evening at the museum working on the HO display and some time before that detailing brick inserts for one of my buildings. Tried something new by rubbing latex spackle into the joints instead of paint - looks promising and we'll see how that goes.  CUL,J.R.

Yawwwwnnnnnn!!Zzz [zzz] Is it morning already? Zoe, I think I need a big cup of coffee. Yep, let me also have a couple of waffles with some bacon strips, please.

Thanks. I'll be eating them over in the window booth - nudge me if I doze off....Zzz [zzz] Huh - oh yeah, I'm awake. Thanks, Zoe.

I think I'm awake this morning. Let me get some more coffee in my caffeine system here. Okay, that's better. Oh yeah, morning!

OzJim, I'll have to go check out Google Earth today. Never saw that detail in the maps part. Sounds like that job delivering will be good for your navigational skills. Keeping you busy, are they? Wink [;)]

We are getting rain currently in Cape - only about 64 F so far. Supposed to reach the mid-70's today. 88 percent relative humidity. Nice drizzly day - I sure hope work will be less hectic than yesterday. Boy, was I ready for bed last night!

Well, I'd better get back to the waffles. Might have room for some scramble eggs, too. S'cuse me while I put the feedbag on...Dinner [dinner]

Hope you all get the necessary and important stuff done today.

Blessings,

Mornin'All!

I think I'll have the eggs benedict this morning Chloe.  Thanks!

You know, I haven't said much about this lately, but I do pray for all of you regularly.  I suppose that many of you probably like to hear that from time to time, but maybe not like everytime you turn around.  I know there are some who can't hear it enough, but for those who don't want to hear it every time I post, just know that I am remembering you, OK?  Just thought that needed said.

Morning All

It's another foggy one here on the outskirts of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. Wind is 20kts out of the SW with a Labrador current of approx 1kt out of the NW and a 2 to 3 m swell out of the NE, which translates to disomfort, not alot but just enough to be annying. Try sitting at a keyboard with feet braced, hips gyrating, chair squeaking and arms jammed onto the keyboard rest to steady youself... Ya you got the picture.

Anyway nothing done on the MR last night as we were pithing and dipping so maybe tonight if I feel so inclined.

Later All

All PA's have 3 axle trucks. I have 4 of these locos. Three from Athearn and one from Life-Like (Proto 2000). The P2K is a PA-1 and the Athearn's are PA-2, PB-2 and PB-1.

Good morning everyone....this is the 2nd attempt at a reply....I mistakingly hit the backspace key when the cursor was at the edge of the page and kablooee, it blew the reply away into never never land...I really hate that about this forum software..it should place it on clipboard save or warn you if you hit a key that would otherwise blow away your reply.

Today it is cloudy and 47F, but is supposed to clear by noontime and great weather will be with us for next 10 days as a Bermuda High sets up shop and protects us from foul weather for many days.

I'm off to the workshop in the garage in a few minutes to cut-out the lift-out bridge section for the layout. It will be a curves piece so that I can maximize the radius from one side of the bridge to the other.

PAUL: I forgot to get to you regarding your question on the 2-10-2..it is a P2K, and is featured in the June issue of MRR mag. I hope it runs and sounds as great as the write-up in June issue. Are you getting yours soon?

PC: Nice pics of CSX, and, I see you made Jeff's day too!! How big were the trees that you planted? Evergreens to the North, shade trees to the South, ie Maple, Cherry, Ash, etc.

FERGIE: I like the RED/BLACK paint scheme...real sharp colors together, reminds me of the 1957 Ford that was Red and Black with fender skirts, continental kit in the rear with chrome cover, side mirrors and 4 barrel Holly Carb, 312 CI engine, and dual mufflers.

Your ship is quite definetly involved in Global Warming data gathering, and it sure looks like they are monitoring the North Atlantic Conveyor deep ocean current that flows all the way around the planet and has MAJOR play in the climate.

Thanks, and yeah, I thought he'd like that.  We don't see KCS out here very often, but this last week I've seen them every other day, and not the same units either.  Maybe I'll see them more often now?

I planted a 12ft  regular Maple out back and a 14ft King Crimson Maple out front.  I now need to get one more King Crimson and the tree planting will be done.  Then I start in on the bushes......8 of them in the front lawn.

Those are great trees, we planted ours new back in 1969 and they are now over 70 feet tall and giving great shade on the east and south side of the house. Phil, remember to plant them a minimum of 30 feet from the house ( roots and roofs )

RYAN: Which full moon ?????  We have TWO FULL MOONS this month...." once in a Blue Moon "? It is going to hit 32F here on Sunday morning, but I suspect that will only be in the usual cold valleys and lowlands. You should be fine in central NC.

Thanks, and yeah, I thought he'd like that.  We don't see KCS out here very often, but this last week I've seen them every other day, and not the same units either.  Maybe I'll see them more often now?

How big were the trees that you planted? Evergreens to the North, shade trees to the South, ie Maple, Cherry, Ash, etc.

I put it about 20ft out and I know I'll have to trim it.  If I put it 30ft out it'll be in the street. Shock [:O]

RYAN: Which full moon ?????  We have TWO FULL MOONS this month...." once in a Blue Moon "? It is going to hit 32F here on Sunday morning, but I suspect that will only be in the usual cold valleys and lowlands. You should be fine in central NC.

Yea, you had me going there for a few secs, I even looked at the calender to verify my original notion.

Now that is a song I like....blue moon....

Hey, we broke a high temp record on Tuesday, we hit 92 at RDU airport which broke the previous high record of 90 that was set back in 1986. Funny too, since in the first week of April we set a record for most consecutive days where the low went below freezing in April ever.

Is it Mojito time yet? Big Smile [:D]
