Afternoon Gang: I just got in from wowing a couple of the smaller pastures. Some of the thistles are 4ft high. I should have done this much earlier but with all the rain I kept putting it off until it dried up. I finally decided this morning to go ahead and mow what I could. Right now they have put us on a thunder storm watch. There is a tornado watch S.W. of us so I guess we'll be getting wet again.
JimCG: Woweee, That's some pot of coffee. I've been trying to get a hold of the rep for our area. She said the last time she was out she would get us a key. I'm leaving the lock alone so she can see it. Our lock was open so all the reader had to do was unhook our lock and go in. They didn't even have to unlock there lock. When the reader left they left our lock unlocked away from there's and locked there's. It almost looks like they did it on purpose.
JimOZ: I used to be a delivery driver in my early days. I got to see a lot of Milwaukee that way. Of course I never took the long way by the railroad yards or the harbor to see the boats. Enjoy.
Phill, yes you.
Fergie: With swells like that you will feel inclined all right. Right, left, right, left, up, down, up, down. Ohh I don't feel well. The red should look real good. The steam locomotives that I remember from my youth were all black except for the Hiawatha and the C& NW's 400.
Jeff that's a nice mix of Alco's. The experiment on the clouds seemed to work. Exactly what did you do.
Dick: It's going to be some time before I can get any more locomotives. I spent about $250 renewing my memberships in the Great Lakes Historical Society , the Historical Construction Equipment Association, the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway Society, and the NRA. I also ordered some books and videos on Marion and Bucyrus Erie equipment.
I have the feeling that I may be the TOTP.
Oh Well it's been a while. See you all later.

Just dropped in before heading off to bed...
Today I worked with the lift out idea for the train room, but I soon settled on a drop-down entrance. It came out good, all I need to get now is a couple of gate slide latches to lock the drop-down in place.
RYAN: I like that song also "Blue Moon", and there is a great version by a country band, I think they were called the Renegades. It was a theme song for Apollo 13.
JEFF: Nice job with the weathering, it looks like the technique is a winner to me.
PAUL: I think you shot your budget for May...remember, your now on FIXED INCOME, so you need to budget carefully.
Time for bed, see you all in the morning,

Jim- that pot of joe is just about the right size for tonight. I got about 3 hours of snooze time today, just talked to the state police radio, she picked up about 4 hours, and my Amyjo is working the sheriff's dept radio on 3 hours 'cause she had to go in on days AND midnights to day. Seems like a universal conspiracy to deprive us of sleep. You'd think they would put that Roswell stuff to better use!
Went to the NMRA show in Muncie on the 22nd ( I think I mentioned it here) and saw an Athearn BB FP7 shell in the Santa Fe yellow and silver warbonnet scheme I think they called them yellowbirds or some such , it only cost 4 $ but at that time I only had 2 $ and somehow or another, I forgot to pick it up before I left when Amy came in with more cash. It amazes me I forgot about it then, because I have'nt been able to forget about it since! I don't model SF, I don't use cab units, I have absolutely no use for this particular engine, but I WANT IT!!! Sure do wish I could remember who had it. I'd call him up and go get it. With gas at 3.09, it would probably end up costing me 25$ now, but I'd still do it!
Paul- So how much grief would it cause you to use the ol' 30.30 universal key on that lock? You could always tell them it was a band of Comancheros a tryin' to rustle your herd that shot it off. Or something equally inane, as it seems that intelligence might be in short supply at their facility. Seems to me they should give you a free weeks worth of power, what with the lock and the outage.
OK< all of you guys posting pictures of really tasty looking chow, HAVE MERCY!!!! I had a can of Boy r dee sketti and meatballs for dinner (my dinner is at 2 AM) and then I get on here and see flapjacks, roast beast, duck, turkey, etc etc.....c'mon guys, I have one gas station open all night we can get food at, and they run pretty thin on roast duck by 2AM! Your'e killin' me!
I picked up the tables I'm going to try for benchwork just before a leak developed in our roof, so RRing is on hold until we get that fixed, with our schedule, we have the right weather but no time. I'll just bet none of the rest of you ever had no time to complete projects, now have you? I was under the impression that as you aged, things settled down and free time became embarassingly abundant. Now I know that I don't do very good impressions.
Okey dokey, I'll hold down the fort until the rest of you get movin' in the mornin'. Take care all, and hang in there. Oh, almost forgot- jeffery, that is a great weathering job. I think I saw that car roll through town the other day!
Good morning ! from Indiana.

Hey wetidlerjr, looks like us Hoosiers have the diner to ourselves for now.
So, you ever run down to Nobelsville and catch the pizza train back to Tipton? Pretty good trip, and the pizza isn't bad either. We might try it again this year.
Where did you get those donuts....aww, never mind, probably shouldn't have any anyway. Ratz.
Take care.
Hey, i'll take that whole plate of donuts, i don't need to watch my figure; it right where i left it! I'm starved.
wish i could say that i've done a lot on my r.r. , however, i am contemplating kitbashing life-like's coaling tower into a grain elevator. maybe i'll get to that today.

A quick Good Morning, Zoe - I was going to ask for one of those chocolate 'long john' donuts from Bill's box o'donuts, but... What? You had another one under the counter that Ozark Belt missed? Whew! I was fearing the revolt if the morning crew came in and had no donuts. Yep, I'll have that chocolate one and a cup of coffee. No, I don't need the big cup today, thanks, though.
to the Diner, OzarkBelt! Tell us about your RR empire (plans, time period you model, etc.) We're a nosy friendly and inquisitive bunch in here.
Philnrunt, good to see you in the Diner again - no, none of us ever get too busy with work and chores to work on the layouts. Hope you and AmyJo get some breathing space with work before too long.
PC, keep 'em comin' After another lonnngggg day at work yesterday (no lunch and straight through, until 4:30, with about three crises, two hospitalizations and several phone calls), I and my co-worker David were both about to spit nails. It's like the ones who could hire us some help, won't because of the money (or are incompetent about managing the cash flow well enough to do it), or don't really care about the clinical staff. Grrrrrrr.... (and I'm not talking Tony the Tiger there). I really feel like going into our clinical director's office this morning and asking her to tell me why I should continue working there. $%^*&(@+! bean-counters.... Oh, sorry, Zoe, didn't realize I was thinking out loud.
I need a vacation - a long one! Well, so long as it's not on a ship like Fergie's, that is. Talk about a rock(ing) & roll(ing) job.
Jeff, nice work on that covered hopper - though I don't model the modern era. You might post a topic with the directions on how you did that so the rest of us can learn.
So Ryan, tell me more about mojitoes - is that something new for lunch?
Got to go get ready for wk. Hope I'm in a better mood by this afternoon, or Zoe may be whapping me on the head.
May the rest of you have a much better day.
Blessings on the remainder of your w**kweeks,
Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good Mornin All
Just another Lumpy, Bumpy and grumpy day on the high seas. We haven't seen the sun since we left Halifax. Just rain fog and fog and more fog. Not enough wind for any sea but we get this lazy old swell that keeps us rolling. The Captain got chucked from the bed twice last night. As for me I just sleep through it for the most part as I have to be physicaly chucked from the bunk before I wake up.
Got more decalling done last night but as luck would have it I got glue on one of the shells. so it will have to be repainted again. Good news is I got the glue cleaned up with a sharp blade. If there is any risidual then I will weatehr it so no one will notice the imperfections.
Got a 40 tonner and a Tank engine decalled as well so All that is left is the Brass numbers and dullcote finish.
Dick and Der John: I asked about the CO2 question and this is what I have been told to date.
The Ocean acts like a CO2 sinc. In other words it absorbs, scrubs and, cleans and releases O2. The Labrador Sea is especially good at this but... As ocean temps rise their ability to absorb CO2 goes down, how much and what is the end result is the question I wasn't able to find yet. Sorry I can only absorb so much myself.
Any how it's time do work

PC,, liked the pics. I think those KCS engines are the same ones me n KC watch going through here Tue, while out on our mowwy ride. They should be heading back W. tomorrow or Sat. if they run the same as they have been.
DICK,, did you get the tiller going??
OZ,, those delivery jobs can be fun a times. I've had several delivery jobs and learned my way around a lot of country. I was going to look at the pics, but the page wouldn't come up for me.
FERGIE,,, I've never been on a ship like that, but I have had some rough flights. If their anything alike, I fell for ya.
Philrunt,,, I've been to busy to get anything done on the layout too, so don't fell bad
JEFF,, like the weathering job and the new engines.
With no kids and lousy weather, I'm planning on some train room time [after chores of course] mayne I can get a little bit done. Best get moving again, hope ya'll has a gooden

Good morning everyone...bright sunny day here today as the cool (54F) Canadian front moved through late yesterday, and we have 10 more days in a row of great weather, as all the storms will do south of us and out to sea...Ryan, Phil, Cape Jim, Mike, Garry, etc, take note.
The swing down gate in the train room works great, so that problem is now resolved, and I can move on to completing the track layout, which will be Northern New England RR's of the 1900 to 1960 era, with the Milk Industry, and Wood Products, being two of key industries. The RR's will be B&M, MEC, VC, Rutland, CN, NH, and some late B&A. Yes, there actually were many RR's in New England. Palmer, Ma, known as the "hotspot of New England, is known as the town of 7 RR's.
JEFF: Someone got to your tanker already ?????? I must say, you have a great talent for weathering, you could sell your work for sure!! Very nicely done Jeff!!
PHILnRUNT: You know what Abe used to say all the time..." never put off 'til tomorrow what you should, and can, do today". If you see it, and you want it, BUY IT! A dollar down and the chase is on as they say !!
RYAN: Zoe has been playing "Blue Moon" over and over in the Diner..know anything about that? Even PC is running around trying to sing that song....have you heard him sing? I think he is a mid range Alto. Mike was humming the tune in Bass voice, sort of like a low growl of a hound dog.
MIKE: Whats up today? Some Railfanning photo shooting?
OZARK: Welcome to the Diner !!!
FERGIE: Lets see now, the Captain gets rolled out of bed in a rogue wave, Fergie stays glued to the bunk...the Captain weighs 150 lbs, Fergie weighs.......ohhh lets not go there, we all know that Lisa is a great cook, what's a man to do.
Good info on the CO2, the BBC documentary that I watched was contradictory to what your Scientist told you, the BBC said that the ocean gives off CO2, not O2, and therefore was the greater contributor to CO2 problem. It was hard to buy that .....your Scientist I feel is correct in what he stated. Keep the info coming....very interesting stuff...at least for me.
Time to get back outside, lots of work to do... see you guys at lunch,
Hey PC, thanks for the prayers, we can all use them always!
Jim, glad you asked about the mojito! Actually it is a mixed drink, not suitable for the Monday to Friday lunch crowd, but is a great late afternoon refresher. It is a drink popularized in Cuba many blue moons ago and typically is made with light rum, fresh mint leaves, and a splash of lemon-lime soda.
It especially tastes really good and refreshing after spending a long day in the garden....

Hey PhilnRunt, how's Runt doin today!
Dick, Blue Moon??? I have no idea what you are talking about......
psssst....Chloe....errr......Zoe...here's another $5.00 in quarters.....you know what to do.....
Y'all take care now!

Good Morning Diners!
We drove the entire 600 miles home from MI yesterday. It rained for much of the trip with T-storms in Elizabethtown, KY area. Not as bad as last weeks trip up to Mi that included hail.
Of course, we just had to go to Frankenmuth when in Michigan. Anybody here familiar with Frankenmuth? It's a German theme town full of gift shops and two huge restaurants. We always order the all-you-can-eat chicken dinner. Their chicken is far superior to any other chicken. As a result, they serve huge crouds of people. Each of the two restaurants serves nearly a million pounds of chicken annually. Downstairs, they have a terrific bakery as well as their own gift shop. So we picked up scrumptious goodies for the next day. One item was starwberry rubbarb crumb cake. WOW!
Anyone care too try a piece of that strawberry rubbarb crumb cake?
Yum!

Nice weather over here in southern california though it might get a mite hot this afternoon.
Well that was good and I better go to fix that up and down on the 1 1/2 above foam on the curve sot the sd24 doesn't insist on derailing.

Good evening gents.....I had to have one of those Dagwood sandwiches that JEFF designed, it took me an hour to eat the thing...burp!!! Looks like I'll have to cut the grass for the 1st time probably Saturday... this warm spell after all the rain has really brought the grass up quick...and those pesty May Flies.
Did any of you guys get the email from BLI on their new locomotives? They are some nice looking locos, both steam and diesel, in their new Blue Line.
RYAN: I think all that dry air you had last week came north, I am reading a Relative Humidity (Rh) of 16F !!!!!!! And the Dew Point is 13F!! Talk about dry air......this is like Death Valley air except not as hot...60F right now. We will see millions of stars tonight with this clear dry air. Blue Moon, you saw me standing alone...........
DUKE: Good to see you in the Diner.....I guess you got the word that Zoe made Strawberry-Rhubarb pie for desert...you had better hurry and get a piece, Garry, PC, Colby, Mike, and that new guy from California are all attacking it now. And, it is being served with Vanilla Bean ice cream on top!!!!
PC: Is that you at the far corner table ? Still singing Blue Moon ?
I guess I'll have an early supper today. How about some beef stew with extra carrot's and a side of fries with a strwberry chocolate swirl milk shake.
Well it did get a bit hot this afternoon just as predicted.
And I found this interesting device http://railroadgeekstick.com/index.html. And the sd24 still derails Hmm... must be the track work or there's still and up and down part in the track. Oh desert, I think I'll have some chocolate vanilla swirl cheese cake tonight.
