Good afternoon everyone, we are still breaking records up here temperature -wise, day after day with above average temps for the day. Today it hit 56F at noontime! I checked the NOAA satellite of the North Pole area and there is some cold air starting to move south again ( -27F/-33C ), so I suspect by next Tuesday we will see more seasonable temps around the northern tier states.
Get this guys, it was so nice these last two days that I was out cutting some brush and thinning the woodlands between my house and my two sons over the hill in back, and SAP IS RUNNING in the MAPLE trees!!! Unheard of on January 5th!!! This does not occur until March!!! Trees are actually budding!!!!
JEFF: Sure glad to hear that you are OK in your area, our prayers for those poor families that lost their lives in Louisianna. Do you have that brass gear installed in the Mike yet? Road test with 40 cars ?
RYAN: By the looks of things up here, your trees should be starting to leaf!!! Better get your lawn mowers ready for cutting..LOL
PC: The ladies can always figure us out because we men are sooooo predictable, give it up PC, just tell the truth.
Sue: I'm doing ok now. Things are regulated for the most part.
Grayfox: I don't have it done yet. I had to go get a new set of jeweler's screwdrivers. My old set must have grown legs and walked off. A correction - it's not a Mikado, it's a Pacific 4-6-2.
I went to the LHS in Alexandria (not so local). I made out like a fat rat! I got 2 Athearn RS3's for $30 and 2 Athearn F7A Super's for $40. That's like half price on all of them.

Is there a model of one of those terbines? I've been looking for those for a long time.

Yea, I was hoping to get a few more months before having to pull out the mower, from the looks of it might be sooner.

I wish I can, but it has been hard for me. I am not able to spend time on the hobby. You see, I have to go to school[I'm 15 yrs old] , do chores at home, and the rest of the time is taken up on homework. I have not even built a layout yet.
Derrick,

Link above, a Jawn Henry locomotive, in brass and they are "only" a little over $2,000.00. I saw one on eBay but it was in OO scale.

Afternoon All:
Lee: I don't think that the folks at the train shows will be dropping there prices. All that stuff is rare, antique, hard to get, limited run stuff. At least that's what they all say.
Derrick: To Elliots Trackside Diner. I can relate to your MRR situation. I went through that a good many years ago. Keep your priorites as they are and enjoy what time you can get in on the MRR. The more you study now the more time and mony you will have in the furture.
PC: You'er right. They have us figured out for sure. When we go to town she expects to go by at least one LHS. It's no surprise when I want to take a detour for one. She just hopes that the shop is more than just trains.
Well it's getting close to time when I can cross another day off. I went by HR this morning to make sure the paper work was being taken care of. The HR person that started things last year has moved on to finance. I wanted to make sure that the new guy had things in hand.
I'll see you all later. So Long for now

Couldn't you just cut around the box that a loco comes in to expose the wheels, then just paint the box? Who'd know?
Hey guys! Dinners on me!

Good evening everyone, can you believe it actually CLIMBED "up" in temp since 3pm!! It is now 58F and hit hit 60F in Nashua, New Hampshire smashing their alltime record for this date. News flash just came in on the 5pm TV Channel 4 out of Boston, it looks like a Tornado hit South Carolina, it showed cars tossed around and tipped over on the main highway like toys, no deaths reported thank God.
JEFF: How did you ever get those locomotives for those prices??? You surely did make out like a bandit Jeff. I guess he wanted to lighten his load for end of year inventory.
PC: That dinner looks just fine for me thank you !

Grayfox: I do a lot of business there so he was willing to do a deal on them. I bought them more or less sight unseen. They all run fairly well but need a little work, nothing major. One of the RS3's is a Santa Fe (blue-yellow #2099, the scheme I don't like very well.) The other is a SP Black Widow #309. The 2 F7A's are both SP (Daylight #6441 and Bloody Nose #6352)
Evening all -
Nice weather we're having here in the Northeast so far. Hit 62 here today - record was 60! Suppose to get near 62-65 tomorrow (record is 61) before cooling off late tomorrow afternoon.
Lee - Any chances you can send me particulars (and pics?) on the 2 Conrail GE's you're trying to 'dump'? I'm a CR fan and am going to have CR and a few others on my layout once I get it that far.
Dick / Ed - What do you think of the Yanks latest move - Johnson back to Az?
Well all, time to go get some grub.
Take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
Good day diners...I'll have a strawberry shake, thanks..
Well there isn't much happening in Oz except on the other side of the country, yesterday a superstorm hit the west australian coast, it formed from a tropical cyclone and a tropical low joining together and making a 2000km storm front 'a once in a generation' event, they got almost 200mm of rain 24 hours or about 8-9 inches and also wind gusts upwards of 110km/h the storm is slowly moving across the country but is unlikely to hit the east coast.
In other news, Our two main water supply dams, Lake Wivenhoe is at 21% capacity and Somerset Dam is at 30%, if we get no rain by May 2008 the dams will be bone dry. we need at least 50mm of rain to just get run off and 100mm to increase the dam levels 5-10%, they haven't been full since 1999 so coming up 8 years. The dams hold about 1,500 million megalitres or something like that, so there is alot of water normally.
All for now Oz..

Ryan, Great reminder of what is to come. If it would dry out enough out here, I would probably mow to level the lawn. Today it is raining and 37 with snow in the rain and 30-40 mph winds. So they say that the globe is warm. Hmmm.
Phillip, When we go to a train show my husband has to slow me down because am ready to buy everything with NP on it. At least we have decided to get R-T-R rolling stock. You can go straight home and test drive it.

Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Cox 47: The low here in Ohio tonight is 50F. The high temp for Sat is 51F. Not normal at all. Normaly Lake Erie is frozen at least 2 miles out by now. Our 140' Ice Breaker is enjoying the light work load so far this year.
Oz: By 2pm we had 1.5 inches of rain today, the river will be at 17feet by 8pm and flood stage is 12.4 feet. How much water shall we send you?
Cox 47 wrote:PC...Hope you find some good deals at the show is that a Great American show
Thanks, and yes, it is!
Hey all. Not much happening with me. I'll just have a medium Pepsi.
We didn't get as much rain here as predicted. Which is a good thing. We've had enough 'round here for awhile.
See y'all later,
OZ JIM: The local TV stations here are calling the storm in the western Australia, your "Perfect Storm". Too bad you can't build a large reservoir in western Australia, like our Quabbin Reservoir here in western Massachusetts, to catch all the rainfall and runoffs for use in the east via aquaducts.
JP & ED : Drew was seen here in Boston area yesterday looking at real estate....tell you something? As for Randy Johnson, it doesn't surprise me one bit. He really didn't do the job that the Yankees expected, plus he had some health issues, and for what they are paying him, and his age, I think it was a wise move. I look for the Yanks to pull off some big deal for a top pitcher real soon.
Time to hit the sackaroo, we will see you guys in the AM, BTW, it is after midnight here and it is 56F (14C)......this is CRAZY for New England in early January...I was out in my "T" shirt today.....never did that before in January.
Good Morning all, just coffee for me...
I dug a swale last night to divert the rain water and things look pretty good here, it can stop raining any time.
Good morning ! from Indiana.
