What passenger cars would you like to see made?

While we certainly have more passenger cars available these days than we did a few years ago, the selection is still somewhat hit-and-miss, at least in plastic. (If you build your own using etched car sides, or purchase brass cars, your choices are much broader).
While we here at MR are not ready to undertake another large survey like we just did with locomotives, I thought a quick electronic show of hands might be fun. What passenger car(s) would you most like to see mass-produced, and in which scale?
Look forward to reading your votes!

OK, I'll start. First, all my selections are in
N scale
.
1. Wooden arched-window coaches with both wide and narrow vestibules.
2. Same as above, only Pullmans, diners, combines, etc.
3.
PRR
P54 commuter coaches and PB54 combines.
4. Osgood-Bradley lightweight coaches (the American Flyer car)
5. CA&E postwar curved side interurbans.
I've got more, but that oughtta keep the diemakers occupied for a good while! [:o)][:o)]

Kato missed the boat on this one - you hit my favourite rant. Kato made fluted sided passenger cars with just about all of them except for Via (Canadian) in N scale. The cars on the Canadian are the exact same ones as they made for CP, but they didn't issue them. All they needed to do was instead of paint for CP, instead paint for Via - Canadian.
The Canadian has been around for 25 years and it looks like it will be around for a long time to come, and I know that Canadians and some non-Canadians would like to run the Canadian. So my vote goes for N scale Canadian cars.
Also, I think the hobby is ignoring the commuter, light rail stuff. Now Athearn just came out with equipment for the West Coast Express in N, the Sounder etc and I think this is a niche manufactures should be getting into as youngsters just aren't into steam like us older guys. The kids want to get what they see and ride on - I'm curious how Athearn will do with their contemporary commuter trains, etc.

I'd like to see something that would allow the modeler to slip in either a correct window strip or correct pieces to make up the window strip. In this day and age with the mold possibilities it really shouldnt be too hard to make a car side with either vertical members located where no car had windows or temorary members for the modler to remove once the windows are installed. I find that the prices we are paying for all this realism is getting out of hand and we need to do some of the work to get it back in line.

As a PRR/Penn Central modeler and someone who is fascinated by the last pre-Amtrak Broadway Ltds, I would most like to see a twin-unit diner by ACF or Budd in either PRR or PC. A close second would be some of Pennsy's unique baggage cars in plastic, maybe similar to Walthers recent excellent PRR express reefers.

Well, I guess I like coaches:
1. I agree with Terry about the NYC Pullman Standard coaches -- something for those Detroit - Chicago trains.
2. C&O PS Coaches, which were also used on NKP and others. Do have some NKP Sides, but putting them together is a long way off.
3. Some scale length Wooden coaches with wide or narrow vestibules or open platform. Anything but the old time shorties. A wooden combine would be nice too.
4. NYC or USRA standard baggage car.
Must say I am looking forward to the Branchline NYC standard coaches and wi***hem success.
Cheers,
conford

I would like to see a Pullman Standard business car to go along with the Kato Budd business car. Also an actual lounge car either Budd or PSMC. Walthers is actually a PRR Budd parlor car for the Senator/Congressional Limited. An 11 bedroom/12 bedroom sleeper as well.

Yeah, and once we get the P54 coaches for the PRR, how about some MP54s?
In the oldest Walthers catalogue I have, I seem to remember they used to have a wood and metal kit for them.
It would be great if they'd bring 'em back in plastic!

It would be nice to have HO AC&F and Pullman Standard cars in plastic.
Several cars of each just like the Budd cars from Walthers. Hopefully Branchline
is still going to do thier heavyweight series and reefers.
